KQ has this narrative around them that they are a small company battling it out to make in the industry with ATEEZ leading their way. A lot of people are annoyed by ATEEZ's rapid rise within the K-Pop industry. K-Pop was born with the formation of the group Seo Taiji and Boys and their experimental sound that mixed in hip-hop, coupled with dancing on stage. Their debut song “Nan Arayo” ("I Know") premiered on a talent show on April 11, 1992 which is why we consider this date the birth of K-Pop. Today’s episode is going to be both fun and maybe a bit controversial, because we’re going to share each generation’s THE song! It's absolutely crazy that KPop, the phenomenon that has taken the world by storm in recent years is officially turning 30 years old today! On April 11 1992, Seo Taiji and Boys debuted their single "Nan Arayo" on a music show, and the rest is history. Now we're on the 4th generation of idol groups and things are going more and more global with each passing day. This episode has everything: - A little bit of history - A little bit of current tea - A little bit of fun game time - A little bit of vulnerability and sappiness And we gave you all of this in one place because this is actually the end of our first season of the podcast, so we're hoping this will carry you over until we return with season 2 :) It has been so fun to record episodes and talk at length about all our faves, and we're ready to take things to the ::cue Aespa:: next level. When Jay Park set out to do things on his own in the Korean music industry, he didn't wait on anyone to back him or help him get on his feet. He pulled himself up by his own bootstraps by founding a music label - AOMG (Above Ordinary Music Group) - in 2013, which would house him and other artists he would find along the way that also wanted to take a different approach to making music for the Korean market. How many times will Kathy and Laura watch the Permission To Dance concert? YES. (Other possible answers: the limit does not exist.) Army around the world will understand without question that it doesn't matter how many times BTS performs the same songs or setlist, it's still worth watching for those moments where the members go off script – and off the rails. The Permission To Dance concert arrangement has turned into a sort of mini tour, where they have started to do 3-4 day limited engagements in cities where they've been allowed to, which so far include LA, Seoul, and now Las Vegas. Join Kathy and Laura in this episode (which is a particularly funny one) as they share their journeys of dragging their dad and husband respectively to watch the movie experience (because chances are they'll never get a chance to buy concert tickets, so this is as close as they'll get to one). They also discuss their expectations for Las Vegas, and particularly for the members' behavior off the stage.
