Everyone seems to be dunking on Hope for claims of poor CGI. We don't care how messed up the VFX look as long as the movie messes up our minds! Luckily, Hope mostly delivers!

On this New Movie Monday, Griffey, Heath and Sam get into HOPE's incredible opening, chaotic creature attacks, surprisingly hilarious characters and an ending that leaves plenty to argue about. Griffey makes the case for its sheer filmmaking ambition. Heath questions the plot armor and repeated action beats. Sam thinks the whole thing might work better as a series.

Today Griffey and Dandino parachute in on a war torn nightmare in Overlord. What if Barney was actually a child-eating demon?

This week on the Messed Up Movies Podcast, we're diving headfirst into BUDDY, Casper Kelly's completely deranged horror-comedy about a magical children's-show unicorn whose wholesome world of songs, friendship and life lessons rapidly descends into murder, mutilation and absolute chaos.

And we are VERY divided on this one.

For Griffey, BUDDY is the most fun he's had in a theater all year and his favorite movie of 2026. For Heath and Sam? A hilarious idea stretched into a gimmicky feature that never quite finds the characters, stakes or story to hold the insanity together.

We're talking murderous children's television, Nightmare Buddy, dead kids, demonic unicorn mythology, Clint Howard getting extremely inappropriate with a puppet, surprisingly nasty scares, the bizarre final act and whether this thing is actually a brilliant piece of horror satire or just one enormous fucked-up joke.

This week, Griffey, Heath and Sam review the new dinosaur thriller from It Follows director David Robert Mitchell, starring Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor. It is a big, dumb, expensive throwback packed with plenty of violence, dinosaurs with feathers and a sex scene you have to see to believe.

Eli Roth's Ice Cream Man promised an unrated throwback packed with gore, mayhem and ice cream-fueled murder. What arrived is one of the most baffling and creatively bankrupt horror releases we have seen in years.

On New Movie Monday, Griffey, Heath and Sam dig into a movie apparently made for children, yet far too grotesque for children to watch. We discuss its personality-free villain, juvenile humor, incoherent characters, recycled horror imagery and a finale involving a basement freezer, a necromancer and one extremely convenient grave.

Then the debate gets heated as we confront the movie's use of generative AI, Roth's misleading explanation and whether this disastrous launch betrays everything The Horror Section claimed it would represent.

Is Ice Cream Man merely a terrible movie, or a warning about where cynical, shortcut-driven horror is headed? We disagree about Roth's intentions, but not the result: this thing is putrid.

The original ending of Jeepers Creepers was supposed to continue far beyond the police station.

At Days of the Dead Indianapolis, original Creeper actor Jonathan Breck and creature effects artist Brian Penikas reveal the massive 15-minute climax the production could not afford to film, including a battle atop the Creeper's truck and an oncoming train.

Today Griffey, Heath and Sam scour a scary subway tunnel for anomalies in Exit 8 now on Shudder. There's ALWAYS more to the story, especially in horror. This is the genre that popularized sequels like no other - so which are the best? There's really one answer here and that's James Cameron's Aliens. But since that title has been drafted too many times it's off the board and we had to get creative! Luckily, there are still plenty of #2's that equal and even best the original.

Combatants Griffey, Dandino, Heath and Sophia are back for battle. Who drafted the ultimate list of direct sequels? Does it include Scream 2 - the meta commentary on horror sequels? How about another Cameron classic Terminator 2? There's no-brainers like Evil Dead 2, Hellraiser 2 and Final Destination 2. They discuss how the film uses the fear and embrace of witchcraft to rip through every aspect of this villages life, if any of the rituals are actually occult magic or just the sick result of paranoia, and Linda Hayden's power house performance as the menacing Angel Blake. This film is a perfect blend of the real world and spiritual on an isolated battlefield. We as audiences are left asking where would we stand if this Messed Up secret were unearthed in our village. 

Synopsis: After a landsman in 18th century England discovers a corpse covered in fur buried in a field, the town becomes infected by "the devil's skin," leading the local children to engage in demonic rituals and criminal behavior.

Today Griffey and Dandino begin to unearth Folk Horror gems this month. We start with what is undoubtedly one of the meanest jaunts into the genre ever in Witchfinder General. They discuss how unlike other Folk Horror this film simply shows men using superstitions to their own benefit, the genius of casting Vincent Price as the Witchfinder, and the nightmarish punishments these poor victims suffer. This is the a pillar of the MESSED UP unholy trinity of British Folk Horror you must see to believe.

Did we just see the best, most beautiful horror movie of 2026? Aussie horror scores again with the truly disturbing coming of age, gay conversion therapy allegory Leviticus. It's New Movie Monday smack in the middle of Pride month!

Griffey and Heath do their best to convince Sam why Leviticus is a near flawless film. There's a lot to debate here from the true meaning behind the movie to the conservative, religious setting to the It Follows comparisons. We have high hopes for this small indie movie because it is one of the best examples of horror as the highest of cinematic art forms in the 21st century.
