Target Audience This activity is targeted toward primary care physicians and advanced providers.

Statement of Need
According to the American Public Health Association, the health system plays an important role in identifying and treating victims of human trafficking. Estimates show that approximately 80 percent of human trafficking victims are women, and health care providers are often the first professionals to have contact with trafficked women and girls. One study found that close to 50 percent of trafficked individuals saw a health care professional during their exploitation. Clinicians need to be aware of red flags that their patient could be a victim of human trafficking, best practices for screening and assessing patients for trafficking, and their response as a health care professional, and resources for assisting the victims.
Providers should know how to screen patients for human trafficking; and what to do if there are indicators of a potential victim of human trafficking.
Objectives
At the conclusion of this offering, the participant will be able to:
Identify red flags of human trafficking and opportunities for victim identification that can be missed by the healthcare provider.
Highlight communication strategies for identifying potential human trafficking victims from the perspective of a victim.
Discuss the significance and impact of compassion to the patient in the delivery of health care.

Strategies to DePrescribe in the Geriatric PopulationEvaluation and Credit: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/MedChat50Target Audience This activity is targeted toward primary care and geriatric healthcare providers and advanced providers. Statement of Need When patients are being treated by multiple providers and/or by a variety of physicians, The caregivers may not be aware of the complete prescription listing a patient has been prescribed. This is especially true if the patient sees providers in multiple healthcare systems, in that a centralized list may not be available in the electronic medical record. These circumstances may lead to potentially inappropriate prescribing (over-, mis- or underprescribing). Additionally, physicians/providers may not routinely do a medication review with patients that are at risk of polypharmacy. Objectives At the conclusion of this offering, the participant will be able to: 1. Define polypharmacy; highlighting the prevalence. 2. List the factors that contribute to polypharmacy. 3. Describe the risk factors of polypharmacy. 4. Review effective strategies for deprescribing of medications. 5. Discuss key considerations for prescribing new medications. Recognizing and Managing Pediatric Suicidality

Recognizing and ManagingPediatric SuicidalityEvaluation and Credit: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/MedChat49 Target Audience This activity is targeted toward primary care and pediatric healthcare providers and advanced providers. Statement of Need Suicide is a major public health concern and the second leading cause of death for adolescents. Research suggests that many patients that commit suicide had seen a health care provider within two months preceding the event; yet, research also indicates that pediatricians may not feel adequately trained to manage behavioral health complaints, including suicidality. These factors reinforce the need for practitioners to screen patients for imminent suicidal risk. However, even if a screening assessment is utilized routinely, providers may not be fully comfortable managing a patient presenting an identified risk. (Adolescent suicide: what can pediatricians do? Current Opinion; 2020) Objectives 1. At the conclusion of this offering, the participant will be able to: 2. Describe the risk factors for suicidal idealization in the pediatric population.Discuss effective screening tools and implementation recommendations for suicidality. 3. Statement of Need Clinical research is an integral component to the development of new treatments, drugs or medical drugs. Successful patient recruitment has been determined as a contributing factor to the success of clinical research studies. It has been identified that an obstacle in successful studies is the recruitment of sufficient number of patients to participate in research studies. One gap identified in this is the role that providers play in that they may be unaware of how patients can benefit from research studies or how to find applicable studies for their patients. Objectives At the conclusion of this offering, the participant will be able to:
Discuss the basics of clinical research including the types of research and phases of trials addressing both adult and pediatric research.
Describe the importance of patient selection and characteristics in clinical research.
List the limitations of clinical research.

Statement of Need
The declaration of the COVID-19 global pandemic from the World Health Organization in March 2020, resulted in new concerns for pregnant women. Pregnant women have had increased risk of severe maternal and neonatal morbidity from similar viral diseases. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, it was unknown what the effects of COVID-19 would be on pregnancy. Additionally, with the launch of the COVID-19 vaccine, the effects of this on the mother and unborn child were unknown. Providers were unclear as to how to advise patients. This program will provide the latest recommendations and research highlights regarding prenatal care and the efficacy and risk of the COVID-19 vaccine; as well as updates in the treatment of pregnant patients with COVID-19. Additionally, the risk factors for severe COVID-19 will be discussed. Following this program, providers should have the latest information on how to advise their pregnant patients as well as those who are considering pregnancy.
Objectives
At the conclusion of this offering, the participant will be able to:
Describe the increased risks and consideration of pregnant patients of COVID-19.

Balancing Relief and Risk: Pain Management and Opioid Prescribing in Children and Adolescents
14 Jul 2025
00:39:22
Episode 80: Balancing Relief and Risk: Pain Management and Opioid Prescribing in Children and Adolescents
Target Audience This activity is targeted toward primary care physicians and advanced providers.
Statement of Need This podcast will address effective pain management in adolescents and teens and the utilization of opioids and risk reduction. Pediatricians may not have up-to-date knowledge and skills to effectively balance pain management with opioid safety in children and adolescents. Current practice often reflects underuse of multimodal pain strategies, inconsistent application of opioid prescribing guidelines, and limited screening for substance use disorders (SUDs) in youth. This educational activity addresses the gap between current and optimal practice by enhancing pediatricians' competence in evidence-based opioid prescribing and their performance in implementing risk mitigation strategies in clinical settings.
Objectives
Describe evidence-based guidelines for prescribing opioids in a manner that optimizes both pain treatment and safety for children and adolescents ("youth").
Discuss evidence-based strategies for the prevention, screening, and treatment for substance use disorders in youth.
