You may remember their first conversation in 2022, where they spoke about Richard’s journey from growing up in rural NSW to a career in fashion, publishing and advertising in New York – and finally to the COVID-induced ‘pivot’ that led him to turn his L.A. home – Flamingo Estate – into the iconic lifestyle brand it is today.

Summer Fridays' Marianna Hewitt On Co-Creating The Internet's Favourite Beauty05 Feb 202500:38:00

After growing a loyal audience as a beauty blogger, Marianna (alongside co-founder and fellow content creator Lauren Ireland) noticed a gap in the skincare space for a range of efficacious products that combine aesthetically pleasing packaging and consciously curated ingredient lists.

Together, under the name Summer Fridays, the pair launched the Jet Lag Mask which became an instant hit thanks to its multipurpose, nourishing formula and iconic blue packaging.

In the seven years since, the LA-based brand has released countless other viral hits, including the mega-popular Lip Butter Balms, aiming to create beauty bag essentials that look cute and work effortlessly.

Marianna joins us to share the inspirations behind the now-iconic Jet Lag Mask, her personal beauty routine and the story of how she met MECCA Founder Jo Horgan.

Amy Liu Talks Tower 28, The Fastest-Growing Beauty Brand For Sensitive Skin04 Dec 202400:46:41

In today’s episode Kate is joined in the studio by Tower 28 founder Amy Liu.

Having experienced chronic eczema for most of her adult life, the former beauty executive struggled to find makeup that didn’t worsen her skin sensitivities, often feeling confined to boring, uninspiring products.

Launching in 2019, Tower 28 shook up the beauty world and became one of the fastest growing brands in the US, loved for their viral SOS Daily Rescue Facial Spray and effortless makeup essentials like the ShineOn Lip Jelly.

In today’s episode, Kate is in the studio with Donni Davy to celebrate the launch of her sparkly new makeup brand, Half Magic, at MECCA.

Occasionally, a makeup artist comes along and changes beauty culture – which is what Donni did when HBO’s Euphoria first aired in 2019. She went on to win two Emmys for her work on the iconic series, and kickstarted a movement of bold, glittery eye makeup and lived-in skin, now known simply as ‘Euphoria makeup’. In partnership with A24 Films, which produced the show, her viral bejewelled wings, Technicolor lids and glitter tears inspired the creation of Half Magic, which gives everyone the tools to recreate magical beauty looks, every day.

Emily Weiss On Why Glossier Isn’t A Trend Brand26 Jul 202400:29:42

In today’s episode, Kate is joined by Emily Weiss, founder of Glossier, to celebrate the launch of her cult-loved brand into Australia and New Zealand, exclusively at MECCA.

After leaving a career in fashion to work full-time on her popular beauty blog, Into The Gloss, Emily saw a gap in the market for a brand that had a customer-focused, “Skin First. Professor Augustinus Bader and Charles Rosier, LIVE at MECCA George Street06 Mar 202400:41:43

In today’s episode of MECCA Talks – recorded live and in front of a studio audience at MECCA George Street – Kate is joined by Professor Augustinus Bader and Charles Rosier, Co-Founders and CEO, respectively, of the brand responsible for Hollywood’s picture perfect complexions, Augustinus Bader.

A globally recognized biomedical scientist and physician, and leading expert in the field of stem cell biology and regenerative medicine, Professor Bader co-founded the line of “too good to be true” formulas with CEO Charles Rosier, an entrepreneurial, science-minded investor who put everything on the line – his home, his savings, and his reputation – to bring the Augustinus Bader brand to life, and fuel Professor Bader’s greater work in skin, science and epigenetics.

The two go deep into the science of the brand – including the process of transforming Professor Bader’s astonishing medical breakthroughs in wound healing into a revolutionary skin-healing cream that appealed to the masses – and talk about how, with no marketing or PR, their products got into the hands of Don Johnson, Melanie Griffiths, Brad Pitt and Courtney Cox.

The Story Behind Every MECCA Skin Specialists’ Favourite Cream14 May 202500:54:39

In today’s episode, Kate is joined by French pharmacist and Cosmetics 27 founder Michèle Evrard.

If you’ve ever walked into a MECCA store looking for something to soothe sensitive or irritated skin, it’s likely our team has shown you the Cosmetics 27 range. Since launching at MECCA over 10 years ago, the brand has earned cult status thanks to their gentle yet efficacious formulas.

When a knee injury left her with a large scar, Michèle began looking for an ingredient that would help improve its appearance. She then came across the regenerative properties of Centella asiatica, an ancient plant used in Ayurvedic medicines.

Harnessing the restorative power of the ‘longevity plant’, Michèle created her first (and most iconic) product, Baume 27, a moisturiser loved for its rich texture and deeply nourishing results. Now, Michèle joins us on MECCA Talks to chat about the French pharmacy space, taking care of skin as you age and reformulating a cult-favourite product.

D.S. & DURGA are leading a fragrance revolution22 Nov 202300:32:14

In today’s episode, Kate is in New York visiting the Brooklyn HQ of Kavi and David Moltz, the creative brains (and noses) behind non-traditional fragrance house, D.S. & Durga. David, a musician and self-taught perfumer, alongside Kavi, an architect and designer, work together approaching scent like music or art – breaking the boundaries of the very exclusive, illusive and traditional fragrance industry while they’re at it. Over a cup of fresh-brewed tea (David’s other great passion), they spill the story of how their unexpected fragrances are imagined, why they were onto the viral ‘pistachio’ scent three years before anyone else and how, when it comes to your brand, saying no can be more important than saying yes.

How Allies of Skin turned founder Nicolas Travis’ life (and skin) around09 Aug 202300:41:57

In today’s episode of MECCA Talks, Kate is joined by Allies of Skin founder Nicolas Travis. Nicolas’ unbelievably smooth, glassy skin is proof enough that the brand delivers on the words printed on each bottle (and the science-backed formulas within them) – however, if you’re searching for more, you’ll discover famous fans in the likes of Hailey Bieber, Kaia Gerber, Niall Horan, January Jones and Henry Golding.

Having launched in 2016 with just three products, Allies of Skin has reached cult status in record time – hit play to find out why.
