The Mavericks snatched defeat from the jaws of victory in this one. After going up by 16 against the Memphis Grizzlies, having a mediocre coach came to bite us as no adjustments were made amidst a huge Memphis run. Then, once adjustments were made, they were adjustments that made no sense. Kyrie and Jaden Hardy, our only creators, were hobbled and Jason Kidd thought it was a great idea to let them take turns playing iso ball while the others were scared to do anything at all. In this week's episode of the Mavs Outsiders podcast, things are not looking so terrible for the first time in a long time. The Mavericks defeated the Spurs and the Lakers to finish the week and they got Kyrie back from injury. Kyrie is still listed as questionable for Monday's game but the fact that he played is a good sign of things to come. While the Mavs wait for Luka Doncic to return to health, they are also getting consistent contributions from other guys. One of those guys being Josh Green whose confidence appeared to have waned before he was forced into a larger role. While you never want to be without your stars, perhaps the injuries are a blessing in disguise for the team in the long run. Of course, everything is not perfect. While Jason Kidd did experiment with two-big lineups and was rewarded for it with huge Powell and Wood games, there's no telling what Kidd will do as the team gets healthy. We're all just along for the ride at this time but at least we're having a little fun now. There was a lot of anxiety within the fanbase after a tough loss in Game 4. The Jazz were feeling good and the Mavs were remembering the recent heartbreak they've faced in the postseason.  However, that anxiety did not translate to the team as the Mavs came out and executed their vision from start to finish. The defense was elite and Luka and Jalen Brunson finally looked like a power tandem. Meanwhile, Donovan Mitchell, Bojan Bogdanovic, and Mike Conley played terribly and the Mavs won the game going away. The Outsiders were feeling good during this recording.  Enjoy! The Mavs fall to the Utah Jazz in game 4to even the series up at 2-2. If you had told me prior to the series that Luka was going to miss 3 games and we'd go into Game 5 tied 2-2 I would have been thrilled. I said that if we could win 1 with Luka out I liked our chances and we won 2.  In this episode of the podcast, the Outsiders went a different way. If you thought that the Mavs success without Luka was a fluke, I think that game 3 just put that idea to rest. Everyone who played contributed in some way (besides Dwight Powell I guess) and the Mavs won their first game in Utah since 2016!!! Ya'll don't read this do you?
