121: Is AI making you (and your website) boring?20 May 202600:14:56

You've landed on a website and felt nothing — not turned off, just... nothing. Forgettable copy, a professional tone, and zero sense of who was actually behind it. Here's the uncomfortable question: could someone say the same thing about yours? In a market flooded with AI-generated sameness, the businesses breaking through aren't the loudest or the most polished. They're the ones that feel most human. This episode is about how to be one of them.

What you'll learn:

  • Why AI tools are flattening the internet — and what that means for your brand right now
  • The "you're my person" question every website visitor is secretly asking
  • Three specific places your personality has to show up on your website
  • What "uniquely you" actually means in practice (it's more specific than authentic)
  • Why your website and email list are the best home for a human brand
  • Your Collab Task: a two-part website audit you can do in under ten minutes

Key takeaway / quotable:

"Your website is not a brochure. It's the place where someone who has been looking for their person finally finds out if that's you."

If your website isn't reflecting the real, specific, irreplaceable you — that's the work. Head to jantouchberry.com to start that conversation.

120: How I Grew My Email List 200% Without a Single Social Post13 May 202600:16:27

You've heard "grow your email list" a hundred times. But nobody tells you how to actually do it without posting every day and praying the algorithm cooperates.

In this episode, I'm pulling back the curtain on exactly how I grew my email list by over 200% in 75 days — and not a single bit of it came from social media. It came from something older and more powerful than any platform: relationships.

I walk you through the four collaboration types I used, which one drove the most growth (and why), and the unexpected referral chain that led me from my own hosted event straight to a paid sponsorship opportunity I never saw coming. Plus the one thing I now believe is more important to your long-term business growth than any funnel, any content calendar, or any algorithm hack.

In this episode:

  • Why podcast guesting alone wasn't moving the needle — and what I did differently
  • What the Workflow Exchange was, how I built it, and why it outperformed everything else
  • The real reason a summit sponsorship converts better than a social ad (hint: it's about trust)
  • How to evaluate a bundle before you say yes — because not every one is worth your time
  • Why building relationships might be the single most important business investment you can make

EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS

[00:00] The result first: 200% email list growth in 75 days, no social media involved

[02:00] The honest starting point — where my list actually was at the end of February

[05:00] Why podcast guesting builds credibility but has limits as a list-growth strategy

[08:00] The Workflow Exchange: what it was, how I built it, and why ten women's audiences became mine

[12:00] The referral that changed everything — and how one relationship led to another

[15:00] Summit sponsorship vs. social ads: why borrowed trust converts at a different rate

[18:00] Bundles: the most accessible collaboration type and how to know if one is right for you

[21:00] The big idea: relationships aren't just a nice-to-have — they're the strategy

[24:00] What this means for your list right now, and your one action step this week

KEY TAKEAWAY

"List-building isn't a solo project. It's a community project. The relationships bring people to your door — your website has to open it."

111: Build Better Before You Build Bigger | Faith-Based Business Foundations for Christian Women Entrepreneurs04 Mar 202600:24:24

Are you chasing growth while your foundation is still shaky? If you’re a Christian woman entrepreneur who has ever felt the pressure to scale faster, launch more, and do it all — this episode is for you.

Today we’re going back to one of Jesus’ most powerful parables: the story of the wise and foolish builders in Matthew 7:24–27 and Luke 6:46–49. And we’re applying it directly to your business.

Here’s the truth: you can have the most anointed offer in your industry, but if your foundation isn’t solid, growth will eventually crack it. The good news? God’s Word had a blueprint for this long before any business coach did.

In this episode, we cover:

  1. Why Jesus must be the foundation of your business — not just your personal life
  2. What it means to “dig down deep” before you build, and why so many entrepreneurs skip this critical step
  3. The two foundations every Christian woman entrepreneur needs: a faith foundation AND an operational foundation
  4. How your values, prayer life, client systems, and finances are all connected to your long-term business sustainability
  5. Why building better before building bigger is not falling behind — it’s being faithful

If you’ve been feeling the pull to grow before you’re ready, or if something in your business feels unstable no matter how hard you hustle, this is your sign to slow down and do the foundational work first.

21: Living in the Overflow: Sustaining Creativity Through Spiritual Connection29 May 202400:24:22

Shoot me a text!

In this episode host, Jan Touchberry dives into the importance of stepping back from the chaos of daily life to reconnect with God, highlighting how this can boost authenticity in content creation.

Jan opened up about her battle with burnout, pinpointing the root cause as a spiritual disconnect. She talks about the power that comes from staying spiritually connected, allowing God's influence to enhance creativity.

The discussion also touched on the idea of hope, describing it as a cyclical process that's vital for creators and business owners alike. Staying close to God is key to maintaining a sense of hope and letting it overflow into all areas of life and work.

Jan offers practical advice: make it a habit to unplug from the world's noise and reconnect with God, let spiritual practices fuel your creativity, and understand how hope can sustain you through challenges.

This episode is a heartfelt reminder of the need for a strong spiritual connection to avoid burnout and find deeper fulfillment in the creative process.

110: Monday Devo - A Prayer for Peace02 Mar 202600:03:36
Her Faith at Work – Monday Devo

Perfect Peace in Heavy Seasons

If the start of this year has felt heavy, you’re not alone.

In this week’s Monday Devo, we pause. We breathe. And we anchor ourselves in truth. When life feels unsettled—personally, professionally, globally—it’s easy for that weight to spill into your business, your leadership, and your faith.

But there is a promise that steadies us.

“You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.” — Isaiah 26:3

This short but powerful devotional is a reminder that peace isn’t found in control, clarity, or calmer circumstances. It’s found in keeping our minds fixed on the Lord.

What This Episode Covers
  1. How “heavy” seasons impact your life and business
  2. Why current events and personal struggles can quietly drain your leadership
  3. The promise of perfect peace when your mind is stayed on God
  4. A prayer for focus, steadiness, and divine encounters this week

A Word for the Weary Entrepreneur

You may feel like 2026 hasn’t started the way you hoped.

You may feel distracted. Unsettled. Concerned about the world around you.

Here’s the truth:

Nothing that’s happening right now has caught God off guard.

He is not surprised.

He is not scrambling.

He is not unsettled.

And when we rest in that reality, our nervous system can exhale.

Peace comes when our eyes stay trained on Him—even when everything around us feels like it’s swirling.

Prayer From This Episode

In this devo, we pray:

  1. For hearts that feel heavy
  2. For peace that surpasses understanding
  3. For minds that remain fixed on God
  4. For divine encounters this week
  5. For courage to be the hands and feet of Jesus in everyday business life

Because as leaders, as business owners, as women walking out our calling—we may be the only glimpse of Jesus someone sees this week.

Your Invitation This Week

As you step into meetings, emails, decisions, launches, and conversations:

  1. Fix your mind on Him.
  2. Ask for His peace.
  3. Stay aware of who He places in your path.
  4. Trust that He is leading and guiding your steps.

Perfect peace isn’t earned.

It’s promised.

Have a beautiful, grounded, peace-filled week.

Ep. 7 God's Breath: The Life Force of Faith21 Feb 202400:19:01

Shoot me a text!

**Show Notes: Episode 7 - Breath: The Life Force of Faith**

**Introduction:**

- Welcome back to "Her Faith at Work," Episode 7. Today, we explore the profound connection between breath and faith.

- If you're new, consider checking out our previous episodes and leaving a review on Apple Podcasts.

- Our discussion delves into the significance of breath in sustaining life and how it intertwines with our spiritual journey.

**The Vitality of Breath:**

- Humans take about 26,000 breaths daily, yet many of us only breathe shallowly, missing out on the potential energy breath provides.

- While breath sustains 90% of our energy, most only harness 10-20%, largely due to improper breathing habits.

**The Unconscious Act of Breathing:**

- Despite its importance, breathing often remains an unconscious, autopilot function for many.

- However, the moment breath is compromised, panic ensues, highlighting its fundamental role in life.

**Breath and Faith: Ezekiel 37:**

- Drawing from Ezekiel 37, the Valley of Dry Bones narrative illustrates breath's transformative power.

- The Hebrew word for breath, "Ruach," signifies both physical breath and spiritual essence, emphasizing the link between breath and life.

**Old Testament: The Ruach of God:**

- Throughout the Old Testament, the "Ruach" of God is synonymous with life and creation, underscoring its pivotal role.

- Verses from Genesis, Proverbs, Job, and Psalms showcase the connection between God's breath and the vitality it imparts.

**New Testament: The Pneuma of God:**

- In the New Testament, the Greek word "Pneuma" carries similar connotations of breath, spirit, and soul.

- Ephesians 6:12-18 highlights the spiritual armor, emphasizing the importance of the "sword of the Spirit" and prayer.

**The Power of God's Word:**

- Scripture, described as "breathed out by God," holds transformative power, offering teaching, correction, and equipping for every good work.

- Meditating on God's Word allows us to imbibe His breath, infusing us with life and understanding.

**Personal Reflections and Challenges:**

- Reflecting on personal habits, the episode challenges listeners to prioritize immersion in God's Word and prayer.

- Just as deep breaths sustain physical vitality, immersing in Scriptur

Ep. 4 Discovering Your Role in the Body of Christ31 Jan 202400:18:33

Shoot me a text!

In this episode we will explore the intriguing question: "Which parts of the body of Christ would you be?" Delve into the significance of this question and its relevance to your spiritual journey.

Episode Highlights:

  1. The Complex Anatomy of the Human Body: Jan begins by highlighting the intricacies of the human body, emphasizing the numerous organs, bones, joints, ligaments, and muscles. Playfully acknowledging potential discrepancies in her statistics, she sets the stage for a unique exploration.

  2. Pondering Your Role in the Body of Christ: Drawing inspiration from a recent experience at a conference, Jan shares how a simple question prompted deep reflection. She recounts a personal revelation about being a foot and the subsequent affirmations from friends who identified with different body parts.

  3. Biblical Insights on Spiritual Anatomy: Jan explores passages from First Corinthians 12 and Romans 12, highlighting Paul's teachings on the body of Christ. She emphasizes the importance of each part, drawing parallels between the functions of physical body parts and our roles in the spiritual body.

  4. Reflections on Personal Revelation: Jan vulnerably shares her emotional response to a friend identifying her as a rib, drawing profound connections to protection, creativity, and partnership in the body of Christ.

  5. The Impact of Rogue Body Parts: Jan draws an analogy between rogue physical body parts, like the appendix, and individuals within the body of Christ who go astray. She underscores the potential harm caused when members act independently, bringing dishonor to the collective body.

Key Takeaways:

  • Embrace the uniqueness of your role in the body of Christ.
  • Consider the impact of your actions on the health of the spiritual body.
  • Reflect on biblical passages to gain insights into the significance of each part.
  • Seek the Lord's guidance in understanding and fulfilling your specific role.

Conclusion:As Jan encourages listeners to reflect on their roles in the body of Christ, she leaves them with a challenge: Are you truly living and performing everything that your part is designed to do? Engage in this introspective journey to strengthen the body of Christ and bring honor to its Creator.

Ep. 2 Pressing Into God's Presence To Change Your Life17 Jan 202400:20:57

Shoot me a text!

Welcome back to the podcast, friends! In this second episode, I felt a strong calling to discuss a topic that might be challenging for some of you. So, get ready for a little self-reflection and maybe even a swift kick in the pants. Before we dive in, I want you to know that while I've spent most of my life in vocational ministry, I'm not a theologian. I'm just a girl running after the heart and will of God for my life and business.

Today, I want to ask you a question: When was the last time you had a deep, supernatural, life-changing experience with God? Whether it's through reading His word, prayer, meditation, or worship, the experience varies for everyone. But let's be honest, many of us struggle to access the powerful, life-changing presence of God regularly.

I'll share a story from Exodus chapter 33, where Moses set up the Tent of Meeting to commune with God. The people stood at the entrances of their tents, perhaps intimidated by the thought of entering God's presence face to face. But the truth is, we no longer need a physical tent. Through Jesus and the Holy Spirit, we have direct access to God's presence.

What's stopping you from that deep connection with God? Is it fear? Do you believe it's not for you? I'll share personal experiences, like a powerful vision during worship and a moment during a Texas storm where the presence of God was palpable.

As believers, our faith won't be surface level or passive in heaven. In Revelation 4, elders bow down, worship, and lay their crowns before God. That should be us every day, transformed and led by the Almighty.

Imagine the impact on your life, relationships, and work if you embraced the full power of Christ's work on the cross every day.

I challenge you to take action, press into God's presence, and be changed. Don't just listen; truly encounter the Almighty and let it impact every aspect of your life. It's time to kick our own butts and live in the fullness of God's power.

109: How to Choose a Domain Name for Your Business: .com vs .co, Domain Name Tips, SEO Impact & What to Do If Your Name Is Taken25 Feb 202600:22:10

Wondering how to choose a domain name for your business? This episode gives you a clear framework so you can decide quickly and move forward.

Jan walks through what makes a domain strong, whether .com still matters, what to do if your name is taken, and how to protect your brand long term.

Jan Touchberry is a brand and visibility strategist who helps entrepreneurs build clear foundations, scalable systems, and authority-driven businesses.

DIRECT ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS:How do you choose a domain name for your business?

Choose a domain that is simple, easy to spell, easy to say out loud, aligned with your brand, and preferably available in .com. Avoid hyphens and complicated spellings. If your first choice is taken, add a short natural word or consider a clean .co alternative.

Is .com better than .co?

.com is still the most recognized and trusted domain extension worldwide

If it’s available and fits your brand, it’s typically the strongest choice. .co can work well, but some users will default to typing .com out of habit.

What if the domain name I want is taken?

Before choosing something confusing:

  1. Add your middle initial
  2. Add a short word like “with” or “hello”
  3. Consider the .co version

Clarity is more important than creativity

Does a domain name affect SEO?

Your domain alone will not make or break your SEO. However, a clear, trustworthy domain improves click-through rates and brand recognition — which supports long-term visibility.

WHO IS THIS EPISODE FOR?
  1. Female entrepreneurs launching a business
  2. Service-based founders building authority
  3. Coaches, consultants, and speakers
  4. Business owners rebranding

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN:
  1. Why clear domains outperform clever ones
  2. Why you should secure your personal name as a domain
  3. How short redirect domains improve conversions
  4. How to stop overthinking and make a decision

108: How to Ditch Social Media and Still Grow Your Business18 Feb 202600:20:51

In this episode, Jan Touchberry discusses the challenges of using social media for business growth, emphasizing the need for a clear strategy that focuses on visibility and conversion rather than mere presence. She explores alternatives to social media, such as email marketing and search-based platforms, and introduces the 'nine grid strategy' as a balanced approach to maintaining an online presence without overwhelming oneself. The conversation encourages listeners to seek clarity in their marketing efforts and to prioritize effective strategies over the pressure to constantly engage on social media.

TAKEAWAYS

You are allowed to question the narrative around social media.

You do not need social media to grow your business.

The goal is predictable visibility that leads to consistent income.

Visibility without a conversion pathway is just performing.

An email list of engaged people is more valuable than a large social media following.

Intent over attention is crucial for growth.

Collaborations can significantly enhance your reach and trust.

The nine grid strategy offers a sustainable approach to social media.

Clarity in strategy is essential for effective marketing.

You are not called to be everywhere; focus on what works.

SOUND BITES

"You are allowed to question the narrative."

"Collaborations are huge."

"You need clarity, not performance."

107: Monday Devo | When God Calls You Before You’re Ready — The Truth from Gideon’s Story16 Feb 202600:13:50

Have you ever wondered if you’re really qualified for what God is asking you to do? In this devotional episode, we walk through the story of Gideon in Judges 6 and uncover a powerful truth: God often calls us before we feel ready, confident, or capable. Even while Gideon was hiding in fear, God called him a valiant warrior—speaking identity over him before there was any visible evidence.

If you’ve been battling insecurity, questioning your purpose, or feeling like you’re playing small in your calling, this episode will encourage you to shift whose voice you’re listening to and rediscover how God defines you.

What You’ll Learn in This Episode
  1. Why God often calls people who feel unqualified
  2. The real meaning behind Gideon hiding in the winepress
  3. How to hear God’s voice in a noisy world
  4. Why confidence isn’t required for obedience
  5. What it looks like to step into your calling even when you feel weak

Episode Highlights

Are you shrinking back?

A powerful diagnostic question that reveals whether fear or faith is shaping your decisions.

God meets Gideon in hiding

Instead of waiting for Gideon to be brave, God shows up in his fear and speaks identity over him.

Identity before evidence

God declares who Gideon is before Gideon does anything to earn it.

Go in the strength you have

God doesn’t ask Gideon to become strong first—He sends him as he is.

The real turning point

Breakthrough didn’t happen when God spoke. It happened when Gideon chose to believe Him.

Key Takeaway

Your calling isn’t validated by your confidence. It’s validated by God’s voice.

Judges 6:11–14 (CSB)

106: KPIs Small Business Owners Should Track in 2026 for Business Growth12 Feb 202600:18:01

In 2026, small business owners have access to more data than ever—but not all metrics deserve your attention.

In this episode of Her Faith at Work, Jan breaks down the KPIs that actually matter for service providers and coaches, especially if you’re growing a business with a podcast or blog. You’ll learn which metrics drive real growth, which ones are simply vanity metrics, and how to steward your business numbers without letting them steal your peace.

This conversation goes beyond dashboards and analytics, starting with alignment—asking the Lord whether the work you’re building honors Him—then moving into the practical KPIs you should review weekly, monthly, and quarterly.

If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by analytics, unsure what numbers truly matter, or caught yourself tying your worth to your stats, this episode will bring clarity, focus, and freedom.

What You’ll Learn in This Episode
  1. What KPIs actually mean—and how to tell the difference between useful data and noise
  2. The most important KPIs for service providers and coaches in 2026
  3. Which podcast and blog metrics predict growth (and which don’t)
  4. Why email list growth matters more than followers or downloads
  5. Common vanity metrics to stop obsessing over
  6. A simple KPI review rhythm you can actually stick to
  7. How Jan tracks her KPIs monthly using Enji
  8. Why alignment with God should always come before analytics

Key Takeaways
  1. KPIs are tools—not a measure of your worth
  2. If a metric doesn’t change your decisions, it’s not a true KPI
  3. Conversion and retention matter more than visibility
  4. Owned platforms (like your email list) are critical for sustainable growth
  5. Clarity reduces anxiety—fragmented data creates overwhelm
  6. Strategy and obedience are meant to work together

Resources Mentioned
  1. Track your KPIs in one place:
  2. Jan uses Enji to monitor leads, conversions, and content performance without juggling multiple dashboards.

Reflection Questions

Take these into prayer this week:

  1. Am I tracking numbers that lead to wise decisions—or just emotional reactions?
  2. Which three KPIs actually matter most in my business right now?
  3. Where might God be inviting me to shift from striving to stewardship?

105: Monday Devo | Exodus 33 - Meeting with the Lord09 Feb 202600:07:34

This episode marks the beginning of something new. Jan shares a personal moment of conviction and clarity—an invitation from the Lord to return this podcast to its faith-first foundation. Instead of starting the week with strategies and to-do lists, these short Monday episodes are designed to reset your heart, your focus, and your leadership by meeting with God first.

Drawing from Exodus 33:7–11, Jan reflects on the Tent of Meeting—a place where Moses met with the Lord face to face, as one speaks to a friend. The reminder is simple but confronting: too often, we watch from a distance or seek human guidance before seeking God’s direction ourselves.

This episode is an encouragement to stop outsourcing spiritual discernment and to step into intentional, personal time with the Lord—especially as a business owner navigating decisions, clarity, and direction.

Jan closes by praying over you, your business, and the work of your hands as you commit it to God first.

104: Sales Is Serving: Why Christian Women Entrepreneurs Need to Stop Avoiding Selling with Lindsay Fletcher04 Feb 202600:31:50

What if sales didn’t have to feel pushy, manipulative, or uncomfortable? In this episode of Her Faith at Work, Jan sits down with business relationship strategist Lindsay Fletcher to unpack why sales is actually an act of service—and how Christian women entrepreneurs can build meaningful business relationships rooted in trust, psychology, and stewardship.

If you’ve ever struggled with networking, selling your offers, or knowing whether your marketing efforts are actually working, this conversation will shift your perspective and give you practical tools you can apply immediately—without compromising your faith or your integrity.

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN:
  1. Why sales is not manipulation—but service
  2. How understanding buyer psychology can completely change the way you sell
  3. The three things Lindsay wishes she knew before starting multiple businesses
  4. Why having a clear, God-led vision is essential for sustainable business growth
  5. How to identify who your real buyer is (and why talking to the wrong person kills conversions)
  6. What to do when a client says, “I need to talk to my husband / partner first”
  7. The four main buying styles and how to sell ethically to each one
  8. Why ROI is a stewardship issue, not just a numbers game
  9. How to evaluate whether your marketing is actually producing fruit—or just noise

KEY TAKEAWAYS:1. Sales Is Serving—Period.

If you have a solution to someone’s problem and you don’t tell them about it, you’re not being humble—you’re withholding help. Sales done right is generosity, not pressure.

2. Vision Is Your GPS

Without a clear, prayed-through vision, you’ll chase every shiny object and wonder why nothing sticks. Write it down. Revisit it. Ask God often, “Is this still aligned?”

3. You Might Be Talking to the Wrong Buyer

Sometimes the person who loves your offer isn’t the one making the decision. Knowing who actually signs the check changes everything about your messaging and sales conversations.

4. ROI Is About Stewardship

Your time, money, marketing, and energy are all resources God has entrusted to you. Tracking what’s working—and what’s not—isn’t unspiritual. It’s wise.

THIS EPISODE IS FOR YOU IF...
  1. You hate selling but love serving
  2. Networking feels awkward or draining
  3. You’re unsure whether your marketing is actually working
  4. You want to grow your business without striving or compromising your faith
  5. You’re ready to approach sales with confidence, clarity, and integrity

Friend, you don’t need to become someone else to grow your business. You just need the right perspective, the right strategy, and the courage to serve boldly with what God’s already given you.

Sales doesn’t have to feel slimy.

Marketing doesn’t have to feel chaotic.

And business doesn’t have to be separated from faith.

You can do this—with wisdom, with confidence, and with God at the center. 💛

103: Answer Engine Optimization (AEO): How AI Is Changing Business Visibility28 Jan 202600:20:20

If you’ve felt uneasy about how visibility works lately, you’re not imagining it.

People aren’t browsing the internet the way they used to. They’re asking full questions — and increasingly, they’re being given one clear answer instead of a list of options. Tools like Google’s AI results, voice assistants, and ChatGPT are quietly reshaping how businesses are discovered.

In this episode, we’re unpacking Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) and what it means for small business owners who want visibility without being dependent on social media.

This conversation isn’t about trends or tech jargon. It’s about clarity — how clearly you explain what you do, who you help, and how you help — and why that clarity is now one of the most important visibility assets your business has.

You’ll learn how AI tools actually decide which explanations to surface, why your podcast and website matter more than social platforms for long-term discovery, and how to start adjusting your content so it’s understandable to both people and answer engines.

In this episode, we cover:
  1. Why search is shifting from browsing results to receiving answers
  2. The difference between traditional Google search and AI-generated answers
  3. Why Siri and other voice assistants are increasingly routing questions to ChatGPT
  4. What Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) actually is — without the hype
  5. How AI uses podcast content (and why audio alone isn’t enough)
  6. Why clarity in episode titles and content matters more than cleverness
  7. How Christian entrepreneurs can think about visibility as stewardship, not self-promotion
  8. A simple, actionable strategy to improve discoverability without posting on social media

Key takeaway:

Visibility today isn’t about being everywhere.

It’s about being clear enough to be understood when someone is searching for help.

Businesses that explain things well are the ones being surfaced.

102: How Your About Page Can Drive Real Business Growth21 Jan 202600:19:22
How Your About Page Can Drive Real Business Growth

Your About page is one of the most powerful — and most underutilized — pieces of your website. In this episode, Jan Touchberry breaks down what a high-converting About page actually needs to do, why most of them miss the mark, and how to rewrite yours so it connects, builds trust, and leads your ideal client to take action.

If your website isn’t bringing in inquiries, your About page might be part of the problem. This episode gives you a clear framework to fix it.

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN:

1. The Purpose Shift: From Bio → Bridge

  1. Why the traditional “all about me” bio is outdated and ineffective
  2. How to reposition your About page as a bridge between your story and your client’s struggle
  3. Why connection — not credentials — is what builds trust
  4. How Jesus modeled presence and empathy (and what that means for your website)

2. The Anatomy of an About Page That Converts

A simple, high-performing structure you can use today:

  1. Lead with your reader, not yourself
  2. Open with empathy, not “Hi, I’m [Your Name].”
  3. Share your story — with restraint
  4. Only include details that create trust and relevance.
  5. Highlight your values (and faith, if it’s core to your brand)
  6. Let your convictions show up naturally, not preachy.
  7. Establish credibility with specificity
  8. Replace vague claims with concrete examples and results.
  9. End with a clear CTA (always)
  10. Make the next step obvious: book a call, view services, or download a resource.

What to Cut from Your About Page (Immediately)
  1. Third-person writing (unless you’re a corporate brand)
  2. Random fun facts that don’t serve the client
  3. Generic phrases like “empowering women”
  4. Credential dumping
  5. No clear call-to-action
  6. Too much backstory — focus on the turning point instead

Quick test: If you get bored reading it out loud, your reader will too.

Your 30–60 Minute About Page Audit (Action Steps)

Ask yourself:

  1. Does my first sentence speak directly to my ideal client?
  2. Does my story serve her, not just me?
  3. Is my faith integrated naturally?
  4. Is there a clear next step?
  5. Am I speaking to transformation, not just experience?

Start small: rewrite your opening paragraph, trim the fluff, and clarify your CTA.

KEY TAKEAWAYS:

  1. Your About page is not about you — it’s about your client.
  2. Connection precedes conversion.
  3. Specificity builds trust.
  4. Faith can (and should) be woven in naturally if it’s core to your brand.
  5. A strong CTA is non-negotiable.

NEXT STEPS:

If your About page feels awkward, outdated, or isn’t converting — don’t guess. Let’s make it strategic. Head to JanTouchberry.com to book a time to chat about a website refresh, overhaul, or brand-new build.

93: Building a Visibility Plan That Actually Works for Business Growth19 Nov 202500:24:30

If you’ve been showing up online but still feel like your visibility is stuck in neutral — you’re not alone. In this episode, we’re breaking down why most visibility plans fall flat… and how to build one that’s actually aligned with your mission (and energy).

In this episode, Jan Touchberry walks you through what she calls a Visibility Blueprint — a practical strategy to expand your reach through aligned collaboration instead of content overload. Think: podcast swaps, IG Lives, list takeovers, and panel events — but done with intention, not exhaustion.

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN

  1. Identify the people who are mission-aligned (not just audience-adjacent)
  2. Reach new audiences through collaborative visibility (without feeling weird about it)
  3. Keep your eyes on purpose, not pressure — and still grow your reach in the process

Whether you’ve been stuck in your own content bubble or just need a refresh on how to show up without burning out, this episode will meet you right where you are — and help you take a bold, strategic step forward.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  1. Most visibility plans stop short because they’re too inward-facing.
  2. Kingdom visibility isn’t about being everywhere — it’s about being obedient where you are.
  3. You don’t need a bigger platform. You need aligned partnerships.
  4. Collaboration can be strategic, life-giving, and mutually beneficial — when you root it in generosity and mission, not metrics.
  5. Visibility done God’s way builds trust, multiplies impact, and keeps your soul intact.

92: The Mindset Shift Every Christian Entrepreneur Needs for Visibility12 Nov 202500:11:34

Let’s have a heart-to-heart about something that might be quietly blocking your visibility — and it’s not your content strategy. In this episode, Jan shares a powerful mindset shift for Christian women entrepreneurs who are struggling to show up online. If you’ve ever second-guessed a post, delayed your launch, or shrunk back out of fear of being “too much,” this one’s for you.

We explore the spiritual side of visibility, the sneaky fear that hides behind phrases like “I don’t want it to be about me,” and how imposter syndrome can disguise itself as humility. Jan reminds us that visibility in business isn’t about being flashy — it’s about being faithful.

You’ll walk away with real-talk encouragement, biblical truth, and a few bold affirmations to speak over your calling.

What You’ll Learn:
  1. Why visibility blocks are rarely just a “strategy” issue
  2. The subtle difference between humility and hiding
  3. How imposter syndrome can keep faith-based entrepreneurs stuck
  4. What it means to anchor your business in truth when fear creeps in
  5. 4 affirmations to combat visibility fears
  6. A mindset shift that makes your message magnetic to your ideal clients

Memorable Quotes:
  1. “There’s a difference between humility and hiding. One honors God. The other masks fear.”
  2. “The enemy doesn’t have to destroy your calling — he just has to convince you not to show up for it.”
  3. “God chose you — your voice, your story, your quirks — on purpose.”

Reflect + Apply:

This week, ask yourself:

  1. What does obedience look like for me today?
  2. Is fear driving my hesitation to show up?
  3. Whose voice am I listening to — God’s or something else?

And then? Take one faithful step. Even if your voice shakes.

118: Marketing by Obedience: What Happens When You Let God Lead Your Strategy29 Apr 202600:35:38

You've checked off the logo. You've picked your colors. You've maybe even got a website. But your business still feels scattered — and you're not sure why people aren't finding you.

Here's the thing: your brand is not your logo. It's how you make people feel. And if you don't have a clear workflow for putting that brand out into the world consistently — without burning yourself out or living on social media — you're leaving growth on the table.

This week I'm sharing a replay of a conversation I had with my friend Tracy Hoth on her podcast, The Organized Coach. Y'all, I listened back to this one and immediately asked Tracy if I could share it with you here — it was that good. We talked brand foundations, podcast workflows, email strategy, and what it actually looks like to build a business without social media when you also have a full-time job (hi, fellow church staff friends 👋).

What You'll Learn
  • What a brand actually is — and why your colors and logo are just a fraction of it
  • The brand voice question that changes everything (especially if you're an Enneagram 8 who's been told to dial it back)
  • How to structure a podcast-first content workflow that produces show notes, blog posts, and email content from a single recording session
  • Why podcast SEO and website SEO are completely different — and which one is driving real Google traffic
  • The quarterly inventory habit that keeps your business (and your website) from growing mold in the corners
  • What to do if you're just starting out and can't afford a full website yet

Episode Highlights
  • [00:00] Why Jan asked to replay this episode on her own show — and what made it so rich
  • [02:45] The real definition of brand: it's not your logo, it's how you make people feel
  • [06:30] "Don't build your brand on the sand" — why infrastructure matters more than aesthetics when you're starting out
  • [10:00] Jan's full-time-job reality: working 40-60 hours at a church and still building a business
  • [12:15] Why Jan made a conscious decision — with the Lord — to leave social media out of her business plan
  • [14:30] The exact podcast workflow: batch outlining → scripting → batch recording → editing → show notes → SEO blog post → email
  • [18:00] The 70% growth stat: what happened when Jan started putting SEO-optimized show notes on her website
  • [21:30] Podcast SEO vs. website SEO — why you need to think about both differently (and why AI search is a third category entirely)
  • [24:00] A real client case study: from corporate burnout and zero business to a live website, email list, and affiliate income
  • [30:00] The quarterly inventory habit and why even established business owners need to keep evaluating what's working
  • [33:00] The Third Space Retreat and the Soul Rest Retreat — what's coming in 2026

Key Takeaway"When you are called to something, when the Lord has a purpose for your life, the more you move, the clearer you get."

That's the owned media strategy in a sentence. You don't have to have it all figured out before you start. You just have to start.

90: The Faith Practice Christian Entrepreneurs Need for Faith And Business Growth29 Oct 202500:35:11

Is it possible to journal with God instead of just to Him?

In today’s episode, I’m joined by Tracy Dempsey — writer, encourager, and certified Pilates instructor — whose unique gift is helping women hear God’s voice with clarity and confidence through journaling. Yes, journaling! But not in the “dear diary” way you might be picturing.

Tracy teaches a Spirit-led journaling practice that moves women from self-sufficiency and confusion to discernment, peace, and alignment with God’s design. And trust me — what she shares will shift the way you think about your quiet time, your business, and even how you process your dreams (literal ones, yes!).

If you’ve ever felt like you’re doing all the right spiritual things — praying, reading, journaling — but still wondering if you’re actually hearing from the Lord… this episode is for you.

We talk about:

  • The difference between journaling to God and journaling with God
  • How to recognize God’s voice through patterns and prompts in your own life
  • Tracy’s practical journaling system that’s simple, powerful, and doable
  • What it looks like to document and discern both spiritual and business direction
  • Why your obedience isn’t just for you — it’s meant to bless others too

Tracy’s gentle, Spirit-led wisdom will inspire you to pick up your pen with a whole new level of expectation. So whether you’re a seasoned journaler or your notebook collection is full of “someday I’ll start” journals (hi, it’s me 🙋🏼‍♀️), this episode will speak to you.

Listen in and be ready — God may be nudging you to listen differently today.

87: Who Do I Need to Become for Business Growth in 2026?08 Oct 202500:15:05

Before you set a single 2026 goal, I need you to stop.

This isn’t your typical “get ready for the new year, new you” pep talk. This is your preparation conversation.

You can’t carry what God has for you next year with the mindset, habits, and identity that kept you stuck this year.

In this episode, we’re flipping the script. We’re not starting with a color-coded Erin Condren planner — we’re starting with the posture of a woman who’s ready to become.

What we’re talking about:
  • Why God had me focus on my body before my next big business move (spoiler: obedience isn’t always sexy)
  • The real reason your 2025 goals didn’t stick — and how to avoid that trap in 2026
  • Why the Be → Do → Have model isn’t just spiritual — it’s strategic
  • What happens when you build goals on your current identity instead of your called identity
  • The hard truth: your next level will crush you if you’re not prepared to carry it

Scripture Highlights:“Seek first the Kingdom…” (Matthew 6:33)“You are a new creation.” (2 Corinthians 5:17)“Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” (Romans 12:2)“He will finish what He started in you.” (Philippians 1:6)
Mic-drop moments:“Vision without identity will crush you.”“You’re not behind — you’re being built.”
Ask yourself:
  • Am I planning goals my character can’t carry?
  • What am I ignoring that God keeps bringing front and center?
  • What version of me needs to go before 2026 gets here?

Challenge of the Week:

Put the planner down. Pick up your journal. Ask the Lord:

  • “Who do You say I’m becoming?”
  • “What needs to shift so I can carry it well?”
  • “Where have I settled for performance instead of presence?”

Your becoming is the strategy.

Next week, we’re getting real practical — I’ll walk you through how to actually build habits that support who you’re becoming. Don’t miss it.

Until then, friend — don’t just do more. Become her.
