In this Mama Bear Movie Minute, Hilary Ferrer and Anja Westerhaus unpack Disney/Pixar's Coco, exploring its beautiful messages about family, legacy, and honoring loved ones alongside concerns about ancestor worship, spirit guides, and the afterlife. The Mama Bears discuss how parents can appreciate the beauty of Mexican culture while teaching children to recognize spiritual practices that contradict a biblical worldview. They also explore the importance of trusting God's plan for our children, avoiding all-or-nothing thinking, and having meaningful conversations about eternity. Whether your family has watched Coco or you're deciding if it's appropriate, this episode encourages parents to approach entertainment with biblical discernment, celebrate what is good, and use challenging themes as opportunities to point their children toward Christ. | Mama Bear Movie Minute: Forgotten Island | 01 oct. 2026 | 00:38:17
In this Mama Bear Movie Minute, Hilary, Alexa, and Anja tackle Forgotten Island—and make an unusually direct recommendation to skip it. While acknowledging its colorful animation, Filipino cultural elements, and themes of friendship and belonging, they argue these are overshadowed by demonic folklore, reckless behavior, crude humor, party culture, and unhealthy ideas about relationships. Using a biblical worldview and the Mama Bear ROAR method, the hosts examine what the movie teaches children to laugh at, admire, and empathize with. They contrast the characters’ rage, impulsiveness, and destructive friendship with biblical warnings about the influence of bad company. They also discuss the movie’s sympathetic treatment of creatures rooted in Filipino folklore, asking whether repeated exposure to frightening or evil imagery can blur children’s spiritual discernment. Ultimately, the episode encourages parents to recognize that thinking critically about entertainment doesn’t always require watching everything culture produces. Sometimes loving biblically means recognizing what a story asks children to normalize—and choosing to skip it. In This Episode 05:09 Filipino culture, Christianity, and the rebellious-grandma trope 09:00 Recklessness, disrespect, and what the movie teaches kids to laugh at 13:30 Biblical wisdom about friendship and bad company 04:50 Filipino folklore, demons, and indigenous spiritual beliefs 23:46 Desensitization to disturbing and demonic imagery 25:35 Crude humor, empathy, and spiritual discernment 29:16 Friendship, identity, and unhealthy dependence 32:51 Party culture, YOLO, and dark humor 34:48 Positive reviews, belonging, and the final takeaway
| Episode 161: What Should Christian Women Know About Yesteryear? | 29 sept. 2026 | 00:49:22 | |
In this special “mamas only” episode, Amy and Anja Westerhaus tackle Yesteryear by Caro Claire Burke, a novel centered on Natalie, a wildly successful “tradwife” influencer whose carefully curated online persona masks a deeply dysfunctional reality. Rather than treating the novel’s depiction of faith, marriage, motherhood, and conservative Christianity at face value, Amy and Anja encourage listeners to recognize Natalie as an unreliable narrator. They argue that her pursuit of the perfect home, marriage, family, and online identity reflects a works-based and performative worldview rather than biblical Christianity. The conversation uses Yesteryear as a jumping-off point for a bigger question: What happens when an aesthetic becomes confused with biblical womanhood? The hosts distinguish between pursuing Christ and pursuing an image of perfection—whether that image involves sourdough, prairie dresses, homesteading, picture-perfect children, or an Instagram-worthy kitchen. They also turn the critique inward. Christians aren’t immune to comparison, envy, trolling, labeling, or an “us versus them” mentality. Instead, believers are called to treat people—including those with whom they strongly disagree—with dignity, kindness, gentleness, and respect. Ultimately, Amy and Anja challenge Christian women not to respond to caricatures of Christianity with another caricature. Instead, live differently. Biblical womanhood isn’t a social-media aesthetic or a one-size-fits-all lifestyle. It is faithfulness to Christ expressed through the particular gifts, relationships, responsibilities, and circumstances God has given each woman. Main Points Covered

| Mama Bear Movie Minute: The Breadwinner | 25 sept. 2026 | 00:21:21 | |
Alexa and Anja discuss Breadwinners, a family comedy about a stay-at-home mom whose business takes off and a breadwinning dad who suddenly finds himself managing the home and their three daughters. They explore family teamwork, recognizing individual strengths, adapting to unexpected changes, and being present with your kids. They also discuss the movie’s “clueless dad” trope, the unequal household load many moms carry, and how families can think biblically about responsibilities and gender roles without becoming overly rigid. Scriptures discussed include 1 Corinthians 12:12, Ephesians, Luke 10, and 1 Thessalonians 5:11. | Episode 160: Are we raising resilient daughters or mommy martyrs? Four things every woman needs to cultivate in herself and her daughter. | 15 sept. 2026 | 00:36:23
Amy Davison examines the rise of “mommy martyr” content—social media posts that portray motherhood, marriage, and family life through a lens of victimhood, resentment, and emotional collapse. She explains how co-rumination and social media validation can reinforce negative thinking rather than promote healing. As an alternative, Amy encourages women to cultivate four things in themselves and their daughters: a biblical worldview, homemaking skills, resilience, and Christ-like community. Ultimately, she encourages struggling moms to seek genuine help and godly community rather than allowing online venting to shape their identity or view of their families. Main Points Covered

| Mama Bear Movie Minute: In your Dreams | 10 sept. 2026 | 00:14:13 | |
In this Mama Bear Movie Minute, Hillary, Alexa, and Anja examine Netflix’s In Your Dreams through worldview insights, potential issues, and invitations for conversation. One of the movie’s strongest themes is the contrast between a perfect fantasy and an imperfect but meaningful reality. Stevie ultimately realizes that having everything she wants isn’t worthwhile if it means giving up her real relationships. The hosts connect this to free will, suffering, and the value of authentic relationships. The movie also creates an opportunity to discuss occultism and spiritual discernment. The children pursue magical help because it promises something good, illustrating how curiosity and the desire for control can make occult practices appealing. The hosts appreciate that parents can use the story to discuss these dangers without introducing children to actual occult practices. Their primary concerns are the movie’s “dumb dad” trope and portrayal of marriage and divorce. The father is loving but frequently portrayed as irresponsible or unnecessary, while marriage can seem like something that simply works—or doesn’t—rather than a covenant requiring commitment and sacrifice. Finally, the hosts encourage parents to focus on Stevie’s tendency to carry problems that belong to adults. Parents can pause the movie when she tries to fix everything herself and remind children that they can bring their fears and burdens to their parents and to God rather than feeling responsible for solving family problems alone. In This Episode 00:34 — In Your Dreams: story setup and Stevie’s mission to save her family 01:42 — Perfect dreams versus meaningful, imperfect reality 02:47 — Free will, suffering, and why imperfection matters 03:04 — Occultism, curiosity, magic, and the promise of getting what we want 04:52 — Lucid dreaming and questions about New Age/occult connections 05:43 — Potential issues: the “dumb dad” trope 08:05 — Fathers portrayed as superfluous and concerns about divorce 08:41 — Representation, marriage, commitment, and covenant 10:07 — Divorce, responsibility, and its effects on children 11:20 — Using the movie to discuss occult practices and discernment 12:24 — Teaching children to bring problems to their parents 13:03 — Perfectionism, anxiety, and bringing burdens to God 13:29 — Practical invitation: pause the movie and talk
| Mama Bear Movie Minute: The Magic Faraway Tree | 03 sept. 2026 | 00:32:50 | |
The Magical Faraway Tree gets an enthusiastic 11/10 from the Mama Bears for offering something increasingly rare: a whimsical, genuinely family-friendly story centered on imagination, family, and character rather than a heavy-handed agenda. One of the movie’s strongest themes is family unity during hardship. After the Thompson family loses nearly everything because the mother refuses to compromise her moral convictions at work, the parents choose to face the consequences together. Rather than responding with bitterness or victimhood, they turn their circumstances into an adventure. The hosts connect this to Ecclesiastes 4:9 and the importance of spouses remembering that they are on the same team. The movie also models parenting through example. Instead of constantly lecturing their unhappy children about gratitude and attitude, the parents demonstrate optimism, sacrifice, and teamwork themselves. The magical storyline creates opportunities for deeper conversations about dreams, greed, contentment, and the supernatural. The hosts distinguish healthy goal-setting from New Age ideas about manifestation and vision boards, while also asking why people are so drawn to fairy tales and magical worlds. Chapters 00:53 The Magical Faraway Tree & childhood imagination 03:49 Doing the right thing when it costs everything 05:26 Marriage, teamwork & family resilience 10:04 Imagination, feminism & responding with grace 15:35 Dreams, marriage & parental sacrifice 19:31 Magic, wishes & lessons from the Faraway Tree 23:45 Dream lists, vision boards & New Age beliefs 25:51 Fairy tales, Christianity & the supernatural
| Episode 159: Can your kid answer why the Bible is true without saying, "Because Mom said so?" | 01 sept. 2026 | 00:58:11 | |
Can your kids explain why they trust the Bible without answering, “Because Mom said so”? In this episode, Amy and Tricia Scribner tackle the first of two big questions about the reliability of the New Testament: Do we actually have what the original authors wrote? Skeptics sometimes compare the transmission of Scripture to a giant, centuries-long game of telephone—one person passes a message to another, mistakes pile up, and eventually the message bears little resemblance to the original. But that analogy misses some important facts. The New Testament wasn’t transmitted through one fragile chain of whispered messages. It was copied in writing across multiple communities, languages, and manuscript traditions. Amy and Tricia walk through the work of textual criticism, explaining how scholars compare thousands of surviving manuscripts, translations, and quotations from early Christian writers to reconstruct the wording of the New Testament. They discuss manuscript quantity and quality, the importance of early copies, textual variants, and the “chain of custody” connecting the apostles with later Christian teachers. And yes—there are variants. Lots of them. But simply counting variants can make the evidence sound much scarier than it is. Most involve things such as spelling, word order, or other differences that do not change the meaning of the passage. As Tricia puts it, variants need to be weighed, not merely counted. The takeaway for Mama Bears? We don't have to teach our kids to fear questions about biblical manuscripts. We can give them tools for investigating those questions using Scripture, reason, and reality—and help them understand why the hosts conclude that the New Testament has been reliably transmitted. | Mama Bear Movie Minute: The Sandlot | 27 août 2026 | 00:39:52
In this first “classic edition” of Mama Bear Movie Moment, Hillary, Alexa, and Anja revisit The Sandlot and discover that there’s a lot more hiding underneath the baseball, childhood insults, giant dogs, and infamous Tilt-A-Whirl scene. The conversation centers on friendship, resilience, childhood play, consequences, inclusion, and what it looks like to use our influence to bring outsiders into the fold. That doesn't mean everything in this nostalgic classic gets a free pass. We flag the pool scene as an opportunity to discuss consent, push back against the assumption that sexualized material is simply something “everybody” encounters, question the movie's “follow your heart” message, and note some mild language and tobacco use. Rather than making those moments reasons to avoid the film, they demonstrate how parents can turn them into conversations. Ultimately, The Sandlot gives families an opportunity to talk about what children actually need to flourish: friendship, belonging, courage, room to play, appropriate consequences, and the confidence to reach toward the kid who hasn't yet found a place on the team. | Mama Bear Movie Minute: Michael | 20 août 2026 | 00:22:13
In this Mama Bear Movie Minute we explore Michael. We saw opportunities to talk with our kids about fatherhood, freedom, God’s glory, celebrity worship, and the cost of fame. We contrasted Joseph Jackson’s harsh, authoritarian parenting with a producer who recognizes Michael’s talent and helps cultivate it, giving us a powerful picture for discussing how earthly fathers can shape the way we view God. We also explored what it means to do everything “for God’s glory,” focusing on God’s goodness, beauty, and excellence rather than an ego-driven need for recognition. Michael’s incredible talent reminded us to help our children recognize and steward the gifts God has given them. We also note an intense scene of physical abuse and the film’s very sympathetic portrayal of Michael. These themes give us opportunities to talk with our kids about celebrity worship, identity, the importance of friends who will lovingly tell us “no,” and whether fame and wealth can ever replace authentic relationships and true freedom. | Summer Rewind: ROARing Through K-Pop Demon Hunters | 18 août 2026 | 01:01:27
In this episode of the Mama Bear Apologetics podcast, Hillary, Amy and Alexa analyze the animated movie KPop Demon Hunters using their ROAR method: Recognize the message, Offer objective discernment, Argue for a healthier approach, and Reinforce through discussion, discipleship, and prayer. With the film gaining popularity among teens and younger audiences, they break down the worldview behind the catchy music, vibrant visuals, and overarching narrative. They highlight both accurate portrayals of spiritual warfare and problematic messages such as redefining sin, the role and reality of the demonic and fighting shame with pride...which is counter to the Gospel. There are loads of theological issues with the film, but that's to be expected. More importantly there is a very subversive undertone that could entice your children into downplaying the danger of or even inviting the demonic into their lives. Main Points Covered

| Mama Bear Movie Minute: Project Hail Mary | 13 août 2026 | 00:18:43 | |
Project Hail Mary offers families a fun opportunity to talk about self-sacrifice, friendship, courage, and hope. Grace's journey from cowardice to risking himself for Rocky echoes John 15:13 and points toward Christ's ultimate sacrifice. The movie also challenges the assumption that faith and science are incompatible, showing that scientific inquiry doesn't necessarily exclude belief in God. The hosts also identify worldview issues worth discussing. Stratt's decision to force Grace onto the mission raises the question of whether the ends justify the means, while the larger “save the world” narrative invites conversations about human limitations and God's sovereignty. Finally, the movie provides natural openings to discuss extraterrestrial life, creation, fine-tuning, and what the Bible says about the end of the world. | Mama Bear Movie Minute: Spiderman A Brand New Day | 06 août 2026 | 00:29:15
In this Mama Bear Movie Minute, Hilary, Alexa, and Anja examine Spider-Man through a Christian worldview, discussing identity, sacrifice, burnout, community, spiritual warfare, genetic manipulation, and the cultural idea of embracing one’s “dark side.” They contrast discovering an inner “true self” with choosing to live according to one’s identity in Christ, using Peter Parker’s loneliness and exhaustion to show the dangers of serving in one’s own strength without rest or relationships. The hosts also explore Spider-Man’s humility, sacrificial love for enemies, cultural redefinitions of bravery, distrust of authority, the ethics of altering human genetics, and the biblical call to resist sinful inclinations rather than integrate them. They close with practical ways parents can talk with their children about Sabbath, community, science, identity, and making people more important than projects. 04:08 Choosing an identity grounded in Christ 05:59 Humility, David, and serving without recognition 07:08 Burnout, Sabbath, and prioritizing people 10:15 Isolation and the need for Christian community 13:36 Loving enemies and Christ-like sacrifice 14:48 Bravery, cowardice, and linguistic theft 18:22 Authority, villains, and cultural narratives 20:16 Possession and spiritual warfare 22:14 Genetics, the dark side, and family conversations Cozy Earth Head to cozyearth.com and use my code MBA for an exclusive 20% off. | Summer Rewind: How to Witness to Unbelieving Friends and Family | 04 août 2026 | 00:56:17
In this episode, Amy and Lindsey discuss practical, biblical ways to share the Christian faith with unbelieving family members, friends, coworkers, and others. Rather than relying on debates or overwhelming people with apologetics arguments, they encourage Christians to begin with prayer, humility, genuine friendships, and a firm foundation in Scripture. The conversation emphasizes that believers are already representing Christ through their daily actions. Effective evangelism is less about "winning" arguments and more about faithfully building bridges through authentic relationships, listening well, and treating every person as an image-bearer of God. They also address common misconceptions about apologetics, the dangers of online hostility and cancel culture, the importance of preparing children to engage thoughtfully with differing worldviews, and when healthy boundaries are necessary instead of continued bridge-building. The episode concludes by encouraging listeners that God uses imperfect people, and humility after mistakes often provides a powerful witness to unbelievers. Main Points Covered

| Mama Bear Movie Minute: Devil Wears Prada 2 | 30 juil. 2026 | 00:16:46 | |
In this Movie Minute episode, Alexa and Anja discuss The Devil Wears Prada 2 through a biblical worldview lens. They explore how the film raises questions about vocation, purpose, validation, fashion, ambition, and the cost of success. While appreciating the movie's nuanced characters and opportunities for meaningful conversations with teens, they also critique its moral relativism—particularly a scene that implies Jesus was merely another flawed human being. The hosts encourage listeners to help their children think critically about where they find their identity, how they view work, and how Christians can glorify God in any vocation. 01:45 – Initial reactions and callbacks to the original film 03:00 – The cost of success and understanding difficult people 04:35 – Finding meaning and value in every vocation 06:00 – Using God-given gifts without judging others' careers 07:00 – Fashion, stewardship, modesty, and Christian freedom 09:17 – Validation, people-pleasing, and Colossians 3:23 10:43 – Issues with the film's worldview 11:00 – Discussion of The Last Supper scene and Jesus' perfection 12:00 – Objective goodness versus moral relativism 14:17 – Conversation starters for families 16:27 – Closing thoughts
| Mama Bear Movie Minute: Sheep Detectives | 23 juil. 2026 | 00:16:33 | |
In this Movie Minute episode, Alexa and Anja discuss Sheep Detectives, a charming mystery centered around a flock of sheep investigating the murder of their beloved shepherd, George. While the film is humorous and beautifully filmed, the hosts highlight its deeper themes of justice, grief, belonging, critical thinking, and biblical imagery. The conversation explores how George's relationship with his sheep mirrors God's relationship with His people, drawing connections to Scripture about the Good Shepherd and God's intimate knowledge of His children. They also examine the film's handling of memory, death, and justice, discussing where its worldview aligns with biblical truth and where it reflects more naturalistic ideas. The hosts especially appreciate the movie's emphasis on remembering injustice rather than ignoring it, encouraging children to think critically about difficult topics instead of being shielded from them. They also unpack the "winter sheep" storyline as a powerful illustration of loving those who are rejected or marginalized, much like Jesus did throughout His ministry. Overall, Alexa and Anja recommend using the film as a springboard for conversations about God's character, biblical justice, grief, inclusion, metaphors used throughout Scripture, and how Christians should think critically about the messages presented in media. 00:00 – Introduction and movie synopsis 01:20 – First impressions and why the film is so charming 02:06 – Shepherd imagery and biblical connections 03:03 – Humorous discussion about "God is a shepherd..." 03:43 – Justice and remembering wrongdoing 05:00 – Biblical justice versus cultural ideas of justice 06:00 – Teaching children about suffering and evil 07:18 – Naturalism, death, and the afterlife 09:08 – Remembering loved ones and discussing heaven 10:32 – The "winter sheep" and loving the rejected 12:20 – Belonging and accepting outsiders 13:18 – Critical thinking and redemption 14:01 – Family discussion ideas 15:00 – Teaching children about biblical metaphors
| Summer Rewind: Understanding Deconstruction. A Conversation with Alisa Childers | 21 juil. 2026 | 00:53:23 | |
Amy welcomes Christian apologist Alisa Childers for an in-depth discussion on the growing phenomenon of "deconstruction." Alisa shares her personal testimony of experiencing a faith crisis after attending a church led by an agnostic pastor, explaining how studying apologetics ultimately strengthened rather than destroyed her faith. The conversation carefully distinguishes between genuine biblical questioning and what Alisa defines as modern deconstruction. According to her research, deconstruction is not simply wrestling with doubts but is fundamentally a self-directed process that leads away from historic Christianity. She explains that many Christians mistakenly use the term to describe healthy examination of beliefs, when a better biblical model is one of reformation—bringing one's beliefs into closer alignment with Scripture. Amy and Alisa examine the philosophical roots of deconstruction, connecting it to postmodernism, subjective truth, and Marxist concepts of oppression versus oppressor. They discuss how feelings often become the ultimate authority instead of objective truth, and how social media has accelerated the movement through online communities that reinforce skepticism toward Christianity. The discussion turns toward parenting, emphasizing that children should be taught to think critically rather than simply shielded from competing worldviews. Parents are encouraged to introduce difficult ideas within the safety of the home, helping children evaluate truth claims, ask thoughtful questions, recognize propaganda, and respond with both discernment and compassion.

| Mama Bear Movie Minute: Moana | 16 juil. 2026 | 00:41:15 | |
In this Mama Bear Movie Minute, Hillary, Alexa, and Anja discuss Disney's live-action Moana through a biblical worldview. While noting that the live-action version closely follows the animated film, they explore how the story contains echoes of biblical truth alongside significant worldview differences. The hosts highlight themes such as creation longing for redemption, God's calling on our lives, repentance, contentment, and using our gifts for God's glory rather than personal recognition. They point out that many cultures recognize that something is fundamentally wrong with the world—a truth that aligns with the biblical account of the Fall. The discussion also addresses several worldview concerns, including ancestor spirits, reincarnation, the worship of nature, demigods, the concept of discovering one's "true self," and following one's inner voice. The hosts contrast these ideas with Scripture, emphasizing that identity is found in Christ rather than within ourselves and that creation should never be worshiped in place of the Creator. Throughout the episode, the hosts encourage parents to use Moana as a conversation starter with their children, helping them discern biblical truth from cultural messages while appreciating the film's storytelling, humor, and positive themes. 00:28 – Overview of the live-action Moana 04:37 – Initial insights and symbolism 05:00 – Polynesian culture, Maui legends, and historical background 06:31 – Fairy tales and biblical themes 08:06 – Preparing children for hardship instead of sheltering them 11:25 – Finding joy and contentment where God has placed you 13:17 – Maui, pride, repentance, and worship 17:07 – God's calling versus temptation 24:00 – The "true self" and identity in Christ 27:27 – Tabula rasa versus biblical telos 29:42 – Hawaiian mythology, Pele, and worship of creation 34:30 – Ancestor spirits, reincarnation, and biblical hope after death 36:32 – Family discussion questions after watching Moana 39:20 – Final reflections and closing thoughts More from Mama BearFollow us on social media Want to support our ministry?
| Mama Bear Movie Minute: Young Washington | 09 juil. 2026 | 00:32:43 | |
In this Mama Bear Movie Minute, Hilary, Alexa, and Anja discuss Young Washington, a historical drama chronicling George Washington's early military career during the French and Indian War. Rather than portraying Washington as an untouchable hero, the film highlights his youthful ambition, repeated failures, and gradual transformation into a servant leader. The hosts appreciate that the movie avoids romanticizing history, acknowledging difficult subjects like Native American land disputes and slavery while still presenting an inspiring account of perseverance, humility, leadership, and God's providence. Throughout the discussion they connect Washington's character development to biblical principles about discipline, repentance, humility, servant leadership, endurance, and learning from failure. They conclude by encouraging parents to use the film as a conversation starter with their children about leadership, courage, mistakes, and God's sovereign purposes. | Summer Rewind: Linguistic Theft - What it is and Why it Matters | 07 juil. 2026 | 00:34:00
As part of our Summer Rewind Series, Hillary and Amy revisit the concept of linguistic theft—the intentional redefining of familiar words and virtues to persuade people to accept ideas they might otherwise reject. They argue that while Christians often teach biblical truths and virtues, today's culture increasingly redefines words like love, justice, equality, violence, and tolerance, making it difficult for believers—especially children—to recognize when biblical concepts have been replaced with counterfeit meanings. Using 2 Corinthians 11, they explain that Satan often works through deception rather than obvious evil, disguising false ideas as righteousness. The hosts distinguish between the natural evolution of language and intentional linguistic manipulation, outlining a three-step process they believe is commonly used to shift public opinion. They conclude by encouraging parents to teach their children not only biblical vocabulary but also biblical definitions so they can discern truth from cultural counterfeits. Main Points Covered

In this Movie Minute, Hillary, Alexa, and Anja discuss Minions and Monsters, exploring both its entertaining elements and the worldview questions it raises. While the hosts praise the film's humor, historical film references, charming moments, and opportunities for family discussion, they also examine concerns about slapstick humor, crude jokes, fast-paced children's entertainment, and especially the movie's extensive use of occult imagery. Throughout the discussion, the hosts encourage parents to move beyond simply deciding whether to watch a movie. Instead, they recommend using films as conversation starters to help children think critically about morality, humor, discernment, and biblical truth. They conclude that the movie can provide valuable discussion opportunities for families—particularly regarding the difference between being curious about occult practices versus understanding why Scripture warns against them. | Mama Bear Movie Minute: Toy Story 5 | 25 juin 2026 | 00:43:47
In this Mama Bear Movie Minute, Hillary, Alexa, and Anja review Toy Story 5 and discuss why they believe Disney recaptured the heart of the original franchise. Rather than focusing on spectacle, the film explores the value of childhood imagination, the dangers of technology replacing play, and the importance of meaningful friendships. The hosts praise the movie for presenting a balanced view of technology—acknowledging its benefits while warning against allowing devices to dominate childhood. The conversation goes beyond a movie review, using the film as a springboard for biblical worldview discussions. The hosts explore themes like humanity's God-given purpose (teleology), inherent value, identity, seasons of life, free play, online bullying, and healthy technology boundaries. They also discuss how parents can use the movie to have meaningful conversations with their children about purpose, friendship, creativity, and faithfully navigating a technology-saturated culture. Overall, they highly recommend Toy Story 5 as a family film that encourages both laughter and discipleship conversations. These conversations continue to offer timely wisdom and practical encouragement for parents navigating today's cultural challenges. In this replay episode, Amy sits down with Molly DeFrank to discuss one of the most pressing issues facing families today: technology's influence on our children and how a digital detox can help restore healthier relationships, clearer thinking, and stronger family connections. In todays episode, Amy interviews author and parenting advocate Molly DeFrank about the growing influence of screens, social media, and digital entertainment on children and families. Molly shares how her own family's struggles with technology led her to implement a two-week digital detox that dramatically changed her children's behavior, attitudes, and relationships. The discussion explores the science behind screen addiction, dopamine-driven technology, the impact of smartphones and social media on children's mental health, and the responsibility parents have as the primary influencers of their children. | Episode 153. Living Faith Boldly as a Father and Man of Christ | 16 juin 2026 | 00:49:56
In this Father’s Day-focused episode, Amy welcomes her husband, Michael Davison, to discuss the restoration of biblical manhood, fatherhood, and discipleship in the home. Michael shares how a coworker’s assumption that he was an atheist became a profound wake-up call, revealing that he had compartmentalized his faith and failed to visibly represent Christ in his workplace. The conversation explores the dangers of separating faith from everyday life, the cultural decline of male spiritual leadership, and the need for Christian men to reclaim their God-given role as disciples and leaders within their families. Michael explains how leaning into spiritual disciplines, accountability, and intentional discipleship transformed both his personal walk with Christ and the lives of those around him. The discussion also addresses why many men avoid traditional men’s ministry programs and offers practical insights into building effective men’s groups that challenge, encourage, and equip men for spiritual leadership.

| Episode 152. Are Miracles Possible? | 09 juin 2026 | 01:04:03 | |
In this episode, Amy and Tricia continue their apologetics series exploring the top reasons Christianity is true by examining the possibility, purpose, and discernment of miracles. They discuss why belief in miracles is foundational to Christianity, particularly because the faith depends upon the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The conversation contrasts biblical miracles with frauds, paranormal claims, psychosomatic experiences, providential events, and demonic counterfeits. Using the example of John of God, a Brazilian faith healer later exposed as a fraud, they emphasize the importance of discernment in evaluating miracle claims. They explain how biblical miracles reveal God's character, authenticate His messengers, confirm His truth, and never contradict Scripture. The discussion also addresses philosophical objections from David Hume, Charles Darwin, and naturalistic worldviews that reject miracles. Amy and Tricia argue that natural laws describe regular patterns in nature but do not eliminate the possibility of divine intervention. They further discuss how miracles appear throughout Scripture during key periods of revelation and consider whether miracles still occur today, particularly in places where the gospel is restricted. The episode concludes with practical advice for parents on teaching children how to distinguish between genuine miracles, providence, fraud, and cultural deceptions, including those amplified by AI-generated content. | Episode 151. The Problem of Evil | 26 mai 2026 | 00:55:43
This episode of the Mama Bear Apologetics podcast explores one of the biggest challenges to the Christian faith: the problem of evil. Amy & Tricia discuss how both children and adults wrestle with suffering, tragedy, and the existence of evil in a world created by a good and all-powerful God. Using scripture, philosophy, practical examples, and personal stories, they explain the difference between natural evil and moral evil, define goodness and evil from a biblical worldview, and demonstrate why evil actually points toward the existence of God rather than disproving Him. The conversation emphasizes the importance of proactively preparing children to think biblically about suffering before tragedy strikes. The hosts explain that evil is not a created “thing,” but rather a corruption or absence of goodness. They discuss how free will makes love possible but also allows humans to choose evil. The episode also highlights the Christian hope found in Christ’s victory over sin and evil through the cross and resurrection, while awaiting the final restoration of all things. The hosts provide practical illustrations from parenting, literature, philosophy, and science to help families explain these difficult concepts to children in age-appropriate ways. The episode closes with recommended resources for parents, teens, and children to continue learning about suffering, evil, and God’s goodness. Main Points Covered

| Episode 150. The Moral Argument for God | 12 mai 2026 | 00:54:00 | |
In this episode of the Mama Bear Apologetics podcast, Amy and Tricia Scribner continue their series on arguments for the existence of God by exploring the moral argument, also called the “right and wrong argument.” They explain that if objective moral laws exist, then there must be a moral lawgiver behind them. The conversation carefully distinguishes between descriptive statements (“what is”) and moral or prescriptive statements (“what ought to be”), arguing that morality cannot arise from impersonal forces or mere social convention. Amy and Tricia address several common objections to objective morality, including moral relativism, emotional subjectivism, and Darwinian evolutionary explanations for morality. Drawing from thinkers such as C.S. Lewis, Frank Turek, Norman Geisler, and Francis Schaeffer, they demonstrate how universal moral principles exist across cultures even when customs differ. The hosts also discuss the Euthyphro dilemma and explain the Christian understanding that goodness flows from God’s very nature rather than existing independently of Him. Throughout the episode, they provide practical ways parents can help children recognize objective morality through movies, discussions, discipline, and everyday experiences. Main Points Covered

| Episode 149. Proof Of God through Order and Design: The Teleological Argument | 28 avr. 2026 | 00:36:16 | |
In this episode, Amy and Tricia Scribner explore how order and design in the universe point to an intelligent Creator. Building on prior discussions of truth and causation, they introduce the teleological argument—the idea that purposeful design requires a designer. From microscopic bacteria to the fine-tuning of the cosmos, the hosts demonstrate that both the smallest and largest aspects of reality exhibit complex, specified, and ordered patterns that cannot reasonably arise by chance. They connect science, logic, and everyday analogies (like puzzles and pickup sticks) to show that design implies intelligence, encouraging parents to help their children recognize God’s handiwork in creation.

| Episode 148. Daily Discipleship Rhythms With Leslie Nunnery from Teach Them Diligently | 21 avr. 2026 | 00:39:58 | |
Amy sits down with Leslie Nunnery from Teach Them Diligently to re-center the conversation around discipleship as the true goal of parenting—not homeschooling itself. While many families consider homeschooling as a solution for raising faithful children, Leslie gently corrects this mindset: education is a tool, not the savior. The heart of the discussion is a shift from performance-based parenting (checking boxes, academic success) to relationship-driven discipleship (shaping hearts for Christ). Leslie introduces the idea of “heart schooling,” emphasizing that parents are called first to point their children to Jesus, not merely manage their education. The conversation also highlights the importance of community, spiritual growth in parents, and intentional daily rhythms that model faith naturally. Whether homeschooling, public schooling, or anything in between, the mission remains the same: raise children who know and love God through everyday life and authentic faith lived out at home.

| Episode 147. The Cause & Effect Argument for God: How the Beginning of the Universe Points to the Existence | 14 avr. 2026 | 00:42:29 | |
This episode walks listeners through one of the most foundational and powerful arguments for God’s existence—the cosmological (cause-and-effect) argument. Amy and Tricia build on earlier discussions about truth, logic, and worldview, showing that belief in God isn’t a leap in the dark but a conclusion supported by both reason and scientific evidence. They explain that everything that begins to exist must have a cause—and since the universe began to exist, it must also have a cause. Through accessible examples (like hot coffee cooling or balloons expanding), they demonstrate how scientific observations align with this logic. The conversation emphasizes that this cause must be outside space, time, and matter, and must be personal, intelligent, and necessary—not just a force. While this doesn’t fully prove Christianity specifically, it provides a foundation for understanding how a theistic Creator is logical. Throughout the episode, they encourage parents to teach these ideas to kids in simple, engaging ways—showing that even young children can grasp deep truths about reality and God. Main Points Covered

| Episode 146. Let's Talk About Easter (Re-Broadcast) | 31 mars 2026 | 00:41:46 | |
This episode lovingly equips parents to navigate the tension between fun Easter traditions and the truth of the resurrection. The hosts affirm that while eggs, bunnies, and cultural practices can be enjoyed, they should never overshadow the central claim of Christianity: Jesus truly lived, died, and rose again. Lindsey and Robin address common internet claims about Easter’s supposed pagan origins, showing that much of the argument rests on weak historical evidence and linguistic confusion. The conversation then shifts to the heart of apologetics—can we trust the resurrection? Through historical references, medical analysis of crucifixion, and eyewitness testimony, the hosts build a compelling case that the resurrection is not just symbolic—it is reality. Ultimately, the message is clear: parents can confidently teach their children both the joy of traditions and the truth of the gospel, without fear that one cancels out the other.

| Episode 145. 6 Questions Every Worldview Answers | 17 mars 2026 | 00:39:48 | |
In this episode, the focus is on worldviews—the lens through which people interpret reality. Tricia Scribner explains that everyone has a worldview, whether they realize it or not, and that lens shapes how we answer life’s biggest questions. The discussion centers on three foundational worldviews: theism, atheism, and pantheism, and how each one answers six essential questions about life: origins, identity, meaning, morality, knowledge, and destiny. By learning these six questions, parents can train their children to recognize the assumptions behind the messages they hear in music, social media, classrooms, and entertainment. Rather than passively absorbing cultural ideas, kids can learn to ask thoughtful questions: Where does this worldview say we came from? What does it say about who we are? What does it claim about right and wrong? Teaching children to evaluate ideas this way helps them identify inconsistencies and recognize when a belief system doesn’t align with reality. The episode also warns about syncretism, the common cultural habit of mixing beliefs from different religions into a personalized system that “feels right.” The Mama Bears remind listeners that conflicting truth claims cannot all be true at the same time. Training our children to examine worldview foundations helps them avoid being swept along by persuasive cultural messaging. By giving kids these tools early, parents can raise children who think critically, recognize faulty ideas, and remain grounded in a biblically consistent understanding of reality. Main Points Covered

| Episode 144. Self-Refuting Statements with Tricia Scribner | 03 mars 2026 | 00:30:24 | |
In this episode, the Mama Bears continue laying the groundwork for raising children who can stand firm in a culture that often sounds persuasive but isn’t logically sound. The focus is on self-refuting (or self-defeating) statements — claims that collapse under their own weight because they contradict themselves in the very act of being spoken. Our kids are growing up in a world saturated with emotionally charged slogans and viral soundbites. They are told things like “truth is relative,” “we can’t know truth,” or “science is the only source of truth.” These statements are often presented as intellectual or compassionate, but when examined carefully, they fail to meet their own standards. They saw off the very branch they’re sitting on. If our children are not trained to recognize these inconsistencies, they can be carried along by ideas that feel right but are logically incoherent. As the episode highlights, kids spend hours a day absorbing messages through social media and classroom conversations. Without discernment, emotion becomes the driver and truth becomes negotiable. The Mama Bears remind us that truth corresponds to reality, truth is objective, and truth is knowable — even though we, as finite humans, are not omniscient. There is a crucial difference between saying truth is knowable and claiming we can know everything. That humility matters. We don’t need exhaustive knowledge to make reasonable, evidence-based conclusions about reality or about God. The goal is not to embarrass, but to clarify. Not to win arguments, but to help our children think clearly and stand confidently. When we teach our kids to identify self-defeating claims, we are equipping them with intellectual armor. We are raising children who can be empathetic without being manipulated, thoughtful without being timid, and bold without being brash. In a culture that rewards outrage and discourages logic, that kind of training is both countercultural and deeply necessary.

| Episode 143. Inductive and Deductive Reasoning with Tricia Scribner | 17 févr. 2026 | 00:39:22 | |
Amy and Tricia continue their classical apologetics series, diving into discursive reasoning—the step-by-step thinking process that distinguishes humans as rational beings made in God’s image. This conversation is a mental workout (in the best way possible!). The mamas unpack the difference between deductive reasoning and inductive reasoning. They emphasize that Christianity does not require blind faith—it calls us to love God with our minds and think well. With practical examples—from the cosmological argument to presidential debates, to lipstick on the wall—the mamas show how logic protects our children from being swayed by emotional manipulation and faulty reasoning. This episode reminds us: Good thinking is discipleship. If we don’t train our children to evaluate arguments, culture will do it for us.

| Episode 141. The Role of Logic in Christianity with Tricia Scribner | 20 janv. 2026 | 00:53:18 | |
Amy and Tricia, two of our Mama Bears, define logic and explain why it’s essential for critical thinking, biblical reasoning, and defending the Christian faith. They stress that logic isn’t made by humans—it’s discovered—and reflects an objective reality that testifies to the existence of God. The conversation explores the three foundational laws of logic (identity, excluded middle, non‑contradiction), shows how logic applies in everyday life and worldview discussions (including gender, truth claims, language, and worldview differences), and gives practical guidance for parents on how to help children recognize sound reasoning vs. faulty logic. They also tackle common challenges, including the relationship between logic and God, and how logic relates to knowing God, faith, and evangelism. Ultimately, logic is presented as both defensible and indispensable for meaningful Christian engagement in a culture that increasingly rejects objective truth. Main Points Covered

| Episode 140. Why Theology Matters with Krista Bontrager | 13 janv. 2026 | 00:45:30 | |
In this episode of Mama Bear Apologetics, Amy hosts Krista Bontrager (a public theologian with decades of experience) to unpack why theology is foundational for Christian living. They define theology, remove intimidation around it, talk about practical ways families can study theology with kids, and point listeners to resources that make theology accessible. The big idea centers around this: theology equips Christians to think well about God so that apologetics isn’t just reactive but rooted in truth. They stress that theology is not just for “academics in tweed jackets,” is essential for discipling children, and that everyday families can begin with simple practices like reading the creeds, memorizing the Lord’s Prayer and the 10 Commandments, and building routines of Bible engagement together.

| Episode 138. Cultivating a Heart for Advent | 05 déc. 2025 | 00:30:10 | |
In this episode, Amy reflect on the season of Advent and how it points believers toward four core spiritual truths — hope, spiritual warfare (peace), worship (joy), and human dignity (love). Christmas is not about the trappings of the season (lights, gifts, cookies), but about celebrating the coming of Christ, renewing hope, engaging in the cosmic battle against evil, worshiping God, and affirming the value of every human life. She encourages listeners to live out these truths practically — through grief with hope, spiritual headship and discipleship at home, heartfelt worship amid busyness, and compassionate generosity toward the vulnerable — so that their families and communities reflect the gospel's transforming power. In this episode, Amy is joined by Tricia Scribner, a classical apologist, to explore how we can know Christianity is true. They compare this approach with cultural apologetics and emphasize the importance of understanding presuppositions in conversations about faith. The episode provides a high-level overview of the evidential and logical basis for Christianity’s truth claims and previews an upcoming series that will break down 20 evidences for the Christian faith. | Episode 136: ROAR'ing Through the Concept of Ghosts (rebroadcast) | 28 oct. 2025 | 00:32:31
On this episode, we are revisiting the concept of ghosts. Every year around this time, we start to see more depictions, decorations, and stories about ghosts —and your kids may be hearing more about them at school. But what are they? We will be examining the idea of ghosts using our ROAR method. What are they? What are the common misconceptions around ghosts and the supernatural? What does the bible say about ghosts and how are Christians supposed to engage this topic? Our hope is that you will be able to use the tools outlined in this episode to help the young ones in your care to be able to recognize the falsities in the messaging and be able to clearly defend their faith and protect their minds. | Episode 135. How Enneagram and Richard Rohr Deconstruct Jesus with Alexa Cramer | 14 oct. 2025 | 00:50:44
This episode of Mama Bear Apologetics explores the spiritual dangers behind the Enneagram and the teachings of Richard Rohr, particularly how they subtly oppose biblical Christianity. Amy is joined by fellow Mama Bear Alexa Cramer, who explains how Rohr redefines key Christian concepts like Jesus, sin, salvation, and the Bible itself. While Rohr’s language may sound Christian, his theology is rooted in mysticism, perennialism, and a pantheistic view of God—where all people and things are seen as inherently divine. The episode outlines how such teachings undermine the gospel and can mislead Christians, especially children, who may encounter the Enneagram in schools, churches, or online. Using Mama Bear’s “ROAR” method (Recognize, Offer objective discernment, Argue for a healthier approach, Reinforce), the conversation equips parents to help their children identify subtle theological errors, practice discernment, and defend a biblical worldview. The episode encourages parents to disciple their children by training them to think critically about spiritual claims, recognize redefined vocabulary, and affirm the unique truth of the gospel in a culture saturated with self-focused spirituality. | Episode 134. Grandparent Revival: How to Use Your Retirement to Pass Down a Legacy of Faith | 30 sept. 2025 | 00:42:58
Amy is joined by Tricia Scribner to encourage and equip grandparents for intentional discipleship. Using the cultural moment sparked by Charlie Kirk’s assassination, Tricia challenges older believers not to “pass the baton,” but to “get in the game.”Grandparents often underestimate their influence, yet they are among the top voices teens turn to for questions about faith and life. Tricia emphasizes that this season of life—with more free time and hard-earned wisdom—is ideal for re-engaging in spiritual formation. She counters the lies that older Christians “can’t learn” or are “no longer relevant,” offering practical ways to grow in apologetics, engage in conversations, and model critical thinking. Even when direct conversations aren’t possible due to strained family dynamics, Tricia shares creative approaches like journaling, writing in Bibles, and asking thoughtful questions. This episode is a call to action: your role in discipleship matters deeply. Whether you’re a parent feeling behind or a grandparent feeling distant, now is the time to step into your influence with purpose and truth.

| Episode 133: How to Help Your Kids Process the Loss of Charlie Kirk | 15 sept. 2025 | 00:38:08 | |
In this somber episode, we reflect on the tragic and violent loss of Charlie Kirk. Just hours before he was killed, Charlie shared his favorite verse—Romans 8:28—a verse that has become a guiding light for many through the grief and confusion left in the wake of his death. Our hope with this episode is to give parents some tools for walking through this tragedy with kids who may be affected by it. We offer a biblical framework for looking at it as well as some practical advice. We want to encourage families to grieve deeply, to lament biblically, and to pray boldly. We also want to point to the redemptive arc of God’s story—from creation to fall, from redemption in Christ to future glory. The God Charlie proclaimed is not silenced. This episode is a call to courage, to resolve, and to hope. A call for this generation to rise—not in retaliation, but in truth and grace. A call to mourn what was lost, but to also step into what comes next. Main Points Covered

| Episode 132. The Lie of Best-Selfism | 02 sept. 2025 | 00:58:31 | |
This episode tackles the cultural lie of Best-Selfism — the belief that personal happiness and fulfillment should be the highest priorities in life, often at the expense of faith and family. Host Amy Davison argues that this ideology, endorsed by celebrities like Tom Brady and various influencers, is a destructive blend of emotionalism, self-help, and idol worship. Contrasting this worldview, they uplift Scotty Scheffler’s Christ-centered perspective, where faith and family take precedence over personal or professional success. The episode emphasizes the biblical model of self-denial, sacrificial love, and discipleship within the home. Main Points Covered

| Episode 131. ROARing Through K-Pop Demon Hunters | 19 août 2025 | 01:01:26 | |

| Episode 130: Can Christians Judge? | 05 août 2025 | 00:41:10 | |
In this episode, we tackle a hot-button question that’s tripping up Christians left and right: Can Christians judge? And if so, how do we do it well and teach our kids to do the same? We dive into this by unpacking the recent backlash against Chip and Joanna Gaines for featuring a homosexual couple on their new show and Chip's comments that Christians are part of a "judge first, understand never" culture. We explore what Scripture actually says about judgment—particularly looking at Matthew 7:1 and John 7:24—and clarify that while we aren't called to condemn (only God does that), we are absolutely called to correct and warn out of love and humility. Misinterpreting this can silence the gospel and cripple the Church. We lay out five practical steps we can use to judge rightly: being theologically sound, restoration-focused, seasoned with salt, consistent in word and deed, and confident in Christ. We also walk through how to equip our kids to do this in their own lives with discernment and boldness. Because let’s face it—our kids are swimming in a culture that’s trying to disciple them before we do. If we don’t teach them to judge rightly, the world will teach them not to judge at all. So buckle up, Mama Bears—we’re going deep on biblical discernment and how to raise kids who can stand firm in their faith without compromising truth. Main Points Covered
