Making SideWays: what a sensory show made for homes taught us about creativity, access & connection17 Sep 202601:21:38

We have more than five senses. Access can be a creative starting point. And theatre can happen in your home.Ā

Join us behind the scenes of InSideWays to discover what happened when more than 100 collaborators - artists, makers, researchers and families – came together across two countries to reimagine how theatre is made, where it happens, and who it is for.Ā Ā

Host Flo O’Mahony (Artistic Director of Zoo Co and director of the 5 star, award-winning ā€˜Perfect Show for Rachel’) joins Oily Cart’s Artistic Director Ellie Griffiths, and researchers Aaron McPeake and Elspeth Clark, to discuss what making a sensory show for people’s homes taught them about creativity, access and connection.

Their conversation includes:

šŸ’¬ How many senses we really haveĀ

šŸ’¬ What happens when a home becomes a stageĀ

šŸ’¬ How sensory and At Home theatre remove barriers for audiences, and create new possibilitesĀ

šŸ’¬ Where the idea of ā€˜sideways’ came from, and how it led us to the taste of soundĀ

šŸ’¬ Co-creation, co-occupation and the magic that happens between peopleĀ

šŸ’¬ Why access belongs at the heart – and the start – of the creative processĀ

šŸ’¬ The value in asking impossible questions (even when you won’t get an answer)Ā

šŸ’¬ Why time might be the final frontier of access practiceĀ
