This is the final episode of Making Money Online! Instead of the usual business topics I am using this episode to give you all a preview of my new podcast which is launching very soon - At Home with the Johnsons.

- Why it's important to have an opinion and share it with the world through healthy debate

- How cancel culture and being offended seems to affect even the most seemingly innocent discussions and prevents us from expressing opinions and having conversions and debates

- The importance of going to the original source and forming your own opinion about what other people have said rather than using 2nd or 3rd hand accounts

- Lisa and Sam's (slightly) differing opinions on smartphone free childhood and how they approach smartphone use within their family

About 6 months ago I started to think about how I can help people make money while also running a business that makes them happy in their daily lives.

056 How being visible made me $10m27 Jun 202200:23:23

In the last 5 years, my business has made $10 million in sales and I'm frequently asked what's the one thing that has really moved the needle? How has this all happened?

Well, I believe what has truly helped me is visibility.

So today I want to talk to you about being visible and take you through what I've done year on year in my business to increase my visibility and build the crucial 'know, like, and trust factor.'

What You'll Learn In This Episode:

- Why a multi-layered strategy towards being visible will help you make more money without it meaning you have to be 'on' all the time.

- Visibility is a numbers game that actually comes down to marketing. Here's how you can get seen & heard by the right people because you can be the best at what you do, but if no one knows who you are, you won't succeed.

- We live in an incredible time where you can build a successful business with a phone and free platforms. I'll share with you all the ways and the different platforms I've used to connect with thousands of people with little to no cost.

- Visibility is one of the biggest hurdles I see with my clients, but if we put our egos aside and show up to serve other people and make it about them, not us, it all becomes a lot easier.

054 On confusing success with happiness, with Sam Johnson13 Jun 202200:22:35

Today I'm joined by my husband and copywriter, Sam Johnson. When this episode is released we'll be in Malta renewing our wedding vows which Sam has organized for us. This got us talking about how in relationships, be it business or life, it's essential to let people work within their zone of genius.

Starting out in business it's easy to try and do everything yourself, but I've learnt over the years when you bring in people who are really good at the jobs you're not great at, your business will become more joyful and successful.

Sam & I have been together through it all, from being £30k in debt to now where our lives look very different, so join us for this conversation about what success and happiness mean to us, and how we allow one another to work in our own zone of genius.

What You'll Learn In This Episode:

- Why trying to be good at everything is a false economy and the freedom you can gain from relinquishing control and allowing people with the skills to excel at their job.

- Success and happiness can be intertwined but they don't always go hand in hand. For that reason, it's important to define your own version of success and not be influenced by what we see on social media.

- How we've identified what success to means to us as a couple and a family, and the simple things that make us happiest.

- The power of knowing what happiness and success mean to you and once you know what that looks like - do that every single day.

051 Why your voice needs to be heard on podcasts with Nina Macarie23 May 202200:23:40

Today I'm joined by Nina Macarie, a Podcast Outreach Manager who connects guests with podcasts giving them the platform to share their inspiring stories.

We all have valuable stories to tell that can help others feel less alone, which is something I certainly strive for on this podcast. I love to hear from people who have similar experiences, adversity or triumphs to me and my audience, and Nina's job is to find those people, uncover those stories and get more voices heard.

What You'll Learn In This Episode:

- How sharing your own story can be a powerful tool to boost your visibility even as an introvert, and how to overcome some of the common excuses we tell ourselves as to why we shouldn't put ourselves out there.

- Nina's top tips to build authentic connections with podcast hosts and successfully pitch to podcasts you'd love to be a guest on.

- How Nina has overcome her own fears around showing up and how she's moved past feeling uncomfortable talking about herself to now embracing getting out of her comfort zone.

- Knowing and practising the core message of your business will always make for relatable inspiring storytelling, so we discuss how to retrain that voice in our head that tells us not to be outspoken, so we can all be not only seen but heard too.

048 The learnings from my latest $2.9m launch02 May 202200:36:18

My latest launch grossed $2.9 million in sales, but you might be surprised to hear we didn't hit our targets and this launch didn't work out in the way we thought it would, but it was by far the most interesting launch I've ever done.

I believe it's so important to debrief and evaluate after a launch, to look at what worked, what didn't and how to improve for next time because it's all the little things that you implement that make all the difference.

What You'll Learn In This Episode:

- Some of the common challenges that occur in every launch we do and how as a team we've learnt to navigate them.

- We saw a new pattern of sales in this launch with clients taking more time to commit to buy. Here are some of the consumer trends I noticed and why FOMO is no longer a strong driver for sales.

- I'll share with you what worked well partnering with affiliates and some best practices I've learned working with affiliates for successful launches.

- How we have made our launches stress-free and fun despite the practical and mindset challenges they inevitably bring up.

047 How I used retreats to get ahead in business25 Apr 202200:21:01

Today I want to talk to you about retreats and how attending business retreats has helped me grow and get ahead in my own business.

It's easy to think a retreat is just a fun trip, but there's so much more to it than hanging out in hot tubs, drinking and eating nice food. So how can you make sure you're getting the most out of every retreat?

What You'll Learn In This Episode:

- How to be strategic about the retreats you attend, who you want to meet, what you can take from a retreat that you can't get in group courses or 1:1 coaching and why you need to commit to implementing what you learn.

- Why business retreats are an invaluable opportunity to network, build connections, and surround yourself with aspirational like-minded business owners that inspire you.

- How to ensure you don't waste the opportunity to learn, ask for help and observe the challenges other business owners are facing. You might just be the perfect person to help them solve that problem!

- Being open, vulnerable and friendly at retreats has helped me grow my business and improve my mindset, so whichever retreats you're booked on this year this is how to make sure you get everything you can from that experience.

I'll be hosting Destination Motivation a 3-day retreat in New York this June, spaces are really limited but if you want to check it out and see if it's the right fit for you the link is below.

Lesley not only runs a successful ski real-estate business with her husband but also helps serviced based entrepreneurs improve their relationship with money, so today I wanted to speak to her about the mindset you need to adopt to work with high net worth individuals.

041 Why You Need A Multi Approach Business Model14 Mar 202200:16:51

Today I want to talk to you about some of the different business models out there for selling your services and why it's so beneficial to have a multi-layered approach.

I know it can get noisy online with everyone having an opinion on the best way to sell and how one method becomes a trend and then it disappears and something else becomes "the thing you must do to be successful."

But here's the truth - there are a million ways to make a million pounds and no one way is better than the other.

However, when you apply a multi-layered business model and build an eco-system where one offering feeds off another, you can stop hustling day-in and day-out and actually wake up in the morning with more money in your bank account than you went to sleep with.

So let me tell you why you need a multi-approach business model and how to start building it.

What You'll Learn In This Episode:

  • How to structure an automated business model that takes clients from a free or low ticket price point all the way through to high ticket offerings.

  • The importance of building a sustainable business that builds an ecosystem and moves you away from relying on stressful launches to turn a profit.

  • Why having all your eggs in one basket won't help you reach your business goals, but building multi-layered models can.

  • And why adding more income streams doesn't have to mean working longer hours and you can still maintain a connection with your clients while automating elements of your business.

040 What I Learned In My Membership Launch07 Mar 202200:20:35

Welcome back to the podcast, today is a solo episode and it's an episode I really wanted to share this week because I've just finished the launch of my membership You Can Sit With Us.

It's really important to me that as a team we evaluate how a launch has gone straight away because that analysis allows us to identify what went right and what went wrong, and once you have that information you can put all those findings into practice and that's how you can improve on your launches time and time again.

When it comes to teaching others I think it's key to be fully transparent, so we don't only shout about the good stuff, but share where we can improve as well, and I learned a lot from this launch because we actually didn't hit our targets and it didn't all go to plan.

So join me on this review of my latest launch!

What You'll Learn In This Episode:

  • The gaps we identified in our messaging and how we didn't shout loud enough that the membership is now open to male and female business owners.

  • My evaluation of a festival launch, what I learned and what I would do differently the next time we launch this way.

  • The challenges we faced with third party software, how we utilised our email list and the role it played in our sales.

  • Why I believe there really is no such thing as failure when it comes to launches, and why we must always be evolving our launch strategies.

I have a great conversation for you today, as I'm joined by Emma Clayton who helps entrepreneurs scale their businesses, and in this episode, we're going to explore the real cost of being a female entrepreneur.

In recent years more and more women have been leaving employment in favour of self-employment for the flexibility and autonomy it can offer, but as we know, starting a business is not easy.  The digital age has opened up so many opportunities, but we've not seen the same growth in support for female start-ups, and we deserve better.

What You'll Learn In This Episode:

- The true financial and emotional cost of being a female entrepreneur and how this compares to our male counterparts.

- How the system is failing women with the gender pay gap and inflexibility for primary caregivers.

- Emma's mission to see female founders better looked after enabling them to thrive and build successful businesses.

- How to raise your prices in line with your worth, your goals and not sell yourself short.

036 Why We Need To Stop Misleading Potential Clients In The Online Industry07 Feb 202200:22:30

Today I want to talk about why we need to stop misleading potential clients online. I know that sounds controversial and I'm not here to shame anyone, but the truth is, if no one talks about these things, then nothing changes, and I frequently see misleading endorsements being used online to attract people to a business or service.   I'm not talking about outright lying, because we know that's morally wrong, but I see a lot of subtle ways clients are repeatedly misled that have never felt right to me, so I want to shine some light on them today.

What You'll Learn In This Episode:

- What the 'pay-to-play' model is, how common pay-to-play offers are in the online industry and how they contribute to misleading potential clients.

- The process behind some business awards and why I'm proudly not an 'award-winning business coach.

- Marketing strategies to reach number one in the book or podcast charts can make for a great strapline, but on closer inspection, if these claims aren't legitimate it diminishes clients trust.

- My experience of being asked to financially contribute to be a part of a TV show, and why it wasn't the right decision for me, despite its appeal.

- That it's possible to make money and have a successful business whilst putting morals first.

Hello! I'm back for a bonus episode as the doors are now open for our rebranded, relaunched membership, You Can Sit With Us and I want to tell you a bit more about what's new, what's changed and why.

I launched this membership 5 years ago because as a business owner working for and by myself, I was lonely and I knew I wasn't the only one who felt that way.

I had an audience who wanted to build connections and learn from each other to elevate their business, so everyone paid a small amount and I got experts to come in and teach us - and this group really became my inner circle.

We celebrated the wins together and supported each other in hard times, but over time I saw that the membership wasn't as inclusive as I wanted it to be. I wanted it to be a space where everyone felt welcome, comfortable, and no one felt like they didn't fit in.

So, despite the membership working well, and selling out, I made changes so that it aligned more with my values.

As I've evolved as a business owner, the membership has evolved and today You Can Sit With Us is a membership that includes, inspires and innovates.

Not only is this membership great for the inclusive community, but you can also build your client base there, learn from expert coaches, take part in Q&A sessions, attend annual parties and take part in quarterly challenges.

Doors are open until Friday, so do come in!

This is somewhere you will belong.

033 How To Grow An Online Business Team17 Jan 202200:29:10

In today's episode, I want to talk to you about growing a team, and how my business has grown from just me to now having 9 expert employees.

Growing a team can be challenging and letting people into your business is scary and I'll be honest, I resisted delegating to others for far too long, but then I realised when you're doing absolutely everything in a business; the book-keeping, the marketing, the admin etc, you have less time for the things that you do best.

The only way to have a successful business that prioritises freedom is to have the right people alongside you and for a long time I worried someone else couldn't do all the jobs as well as me - well spoiler alert, they do it better than me because that's their zone of genius.

So having shifted my approach to how I recruit to look within my audience and network I've built up an A-team of superstars that's been a real game-changer.

What You'll Learn In This Episode:

  • How I recruited my business team and why I've never regretted a single hire.

  • My goals and vision for the team in 2022, including how we plan to shift to a 4 day work week.

  • How we've created an open work culture.

  • Why I value attitude over skillset when hiring.

  • What's been working well for us and what we want to improve in the next 12 months.

032 Why the Fear of Success Could be Stopping Your Progress with Charlotte Mather10 Jan 202200:18:56

In this episode, I'm joined by Charlotte Mather, an accredited fulfillment coach and experienced hypnotherapist who helps unfulfilled professionals overcome the fear and doubt present in their lives.

Most people don't believe that the fear of success actually exists. How can a person be afraid of being successful? It just doesn't make sense. However, the fear of success is real and it's often not about the success itself but the potential price of success. Charlotte explains how a person's own self-sabotage can keep tripping them up on the road to success.

What You'll Learn:

- Understanding the fear of success

- The causes and impacts of the fear of success

- How to overcome self-sabotaging beliefs

- The difference between fear of failure and fear of success

- How to find and settle on your purpose

- Why you need to stop procrastinating

- Childhood traumas and how they influence your current success

For the most part, the fear of success is about being afraid of achievement, sometimes to the point that people sabotage themselves to limit their chances of success. If you're scared of being successful or the consequences of success, recognising it is step one. Also, understand that it's something that needs to be addressed if you want to do well in life.

030 How to Deal with Bullying as an Entrepreneur with Carla Shohet27 Dec 202100:30:38

Joining me today is Carla Shohet, a Life and Business strategist as well as a fellow anti-bullying campaigner. I brought Carla on today to chat about what to do if you, as an entrepreneur, are being bullied, and not just online but also offline, how that affects your business and what you can do about it. Bullying is at its peak right now, and although entrepreneurs are supposed to have tough skin, it can certainly be overwhelming.

- What bullying is

- Why not reacting to bullying can help mitigate its effects

- How to deal with online and offline bullying

It's no secret that most entrepreneurs will feel bullied at least once in their business life. 029 Is Cancel Culture the Right Way Forward?20 Dec 202100:30:02

Today I want to talk about 'cancel culture.' And since the conversation would be a little biased if I did it on my own, I have Ange Wakeling, my marketing manager, alongside me to talk about this widely debated topic. Fortunately or unfortunately, no one's immune to cancel culture. It doesn't matter how long ago a person made a seemingly unforgivable mistake or how genuine their apologies are, cancel culture is brutal and it takes no prisoners. But is cancel culture an effective way of holding people accountable, or just a retribution without a chance for redemption?

What You'll Learn:

- What cancel culture is

- The pros and cons of cancel culture

- How I overcame a cancellation attempt on my brand

- Cancel culture, social status, and its impact on society

- Has cancel culture gone too far?

- Reputational damage vs. personal opinion

Yes, cancel culture makes people pay for their actions but it can be extreme at times. It seems like people get harsh punishments because some other people are willing to go out of their way to hurt others. Hopefully, this conversation will help you figure out what to do when cancel culture comes knocking on your door.

028 Why You Need To find The Passion In Your Business13 Dec 202100:24:45

Today I'm joined by the fabulous Sarah Aspinall, Founder and Instructor of Breaking Ballet, to discuss one of my favourite topics - being passionate about what we do.

We had a fantastic conversation about the challenging but rewarding path of following our dreams and passions. Sarah shared her own story of how she decided to leave her 9 to 5 job as a lawyer to return to ballet, her first love. We also talked about using passion as fuel to run our business, like a magnet to attract clients and as a repellent for failure.

What You Will Learn In This Episode:

- Who Sarah Aspinall is and why she decided it was about time to pursue her passion

- How ballet helped her overcome a few issues when she was a child

- Why being passionate about what we do is crucial to run a business

- How a simple research can help us approach our business with integrity and help us decide if that is what we really want for ourselves

After a traumatic experience in New York for her birthday, Sarah started thinking seriously about how she was living her life. At that time, she was most of the time seated at a desk, feeling she was crushing her body and losing not only her fitness but her inspiration to move. She decided to reconnect with her body and tried all kinds of workouts, but nothing fulfilled her as ballet. She then decided to become a qualified ballet teacher, and after some time, started her business, Breaking Ballet.
