| 01: Looking at work as an experiment with Anita Cheung | 24 Mar 2021 | 00:39:07 | |
In this first episode, I am talking to Anita Cheung, a freelance artist based in Vancouver, Canada. She works solely with traditional media, and her illustrations are influenced by whimsy and wonder. When she isn't illustrating, she is the principal of her creative studio- specializing in art direction, branding, and website design/development for small businesses. As an adult sometimes we are asked the question, what did you want to be when you grow up? Many things come to mind, such as doctors, teachers, veterinarians, and so on. The reality is though many of us aren't what we thought we would be as adults. This is the case with Anita. Growing up, Anita wanted to be an author. She loved everything that had to with books, and her favorite was Matilda. However, that idea of becoming an author started to change as she became an adult. Anita attended college, received her degree in global health and nutrition, planned on receiving her master's degree in public health, and worked for a non-profit soon after. Similar to many college students, Anita worked several different jobs during her college years. Still, her favorite was a studio manager position for a company called Barre Method, a boutique fitness studio. As part of being a studio manager, Anita learned the begin-the-scenes work of running a business, how to survive and thrive, and discovered the creativity that comes with running your own business. The plan of working for a non-profit organization was thrown out the window, and Anita decided to start her own business after finishing college. In today’s episode, were specifically covering:

Welcome, welcome back to another episode of The Love Your Mondays Podcast. In this episode, I’m bringing you two guests, two mini-interviews in one epic show. First, we are going to be chatting with my pal Tianna Grey; when we recorded this interview, she was between jobs. Maybe that is where you are currently, or maybe the fear of being in what we have labeled the void has kept you at a job that isn’t fulfilling you. Tianna has some great insight on what to do when you are in this space of unknown, and let’s be honest; we have all got a crash course in that this past year. The second story I am so excited to share is Ashely's, who is a nurse and who started a business during … well, during what was THE most stressful time in her nursing career. She is the founder of Belle Revival, a place for you to find beautiful thrifted goods with a greater purpose. Give Tianna a follow @tiannagrey Check out Belle Revival www.bellerevival.com This week's community highlight is Rainbow Refugee: a community group that supports people seeking refugee protection in Canada because of persecution based on sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, or HIV status. Make sure to check them out at www.rainbowrefugee.com or at @rainbowrefugeecanada. If you would like to help this specific family, please donate here, and help Mo. (Help a Transgender Refugee from Iran Settle in Canada). When you were listening to this episode, and you thought, I, my friend, would like that ... please share it with them. One small step to getting people in careers that make them happy and get them loving their Mondays. | 03: Ask a career coach anything! | 24 Mar 2021 | 00:27:01 | |
Welcome to the first solo episode from The Love Your Monday Podcast. If you've been following me on Instagram, you know that I have dubbed the year 2021 as the year of the DM. Now with those DMs, I asked my followers to submit questions that they would like me to answer in this podcast episode, and that's exactly what I am doing today. Remember, there are so many common questions, and by stepping up and putting that question out there, you're probably going to be helping other people as well who are too afraid to ask. In today's episode, we are discussing the topic of asking. From colleagues, friends, and even family members, when we think of asking someone for something, our natural instinct is to assume rejection from others. So many people want to ask for help, but they are afraid. Today we will be looking at some research and dive a little deeper into why we should ask for help and the research you need to do first before asking. If you're not already following me, be sure to follow me at @loveyourmondays. If you have any career or business questions that you would like to be answered either on this podcast or in private, be sure to stop by and send me a DM. I love to support you. In today’s episode, were specifically covering:
If you found this episode helpful or know someone who can benefit from these questions, be sure to share it with a friend. Resource Mentioned: Book: The Four Hour Work Week, Tim Ferriss
