Ser2.9 - So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish (For Now!)04 Jul 202301:48:37

As we wrap up the series, we ask the question: was it any good? We think... perhaps? In the final episode before an undetermined hiatus, the Lorekeepers review their second series, drawing all the elements together.

And that's a wrap! Thank you all so much for listening to our creative worldbuilding endeavor. It's been a powerful experience to share this, week in and out with all of you. And while there's no way that it's over, we will be taking a hiatus from releases. At this time we don't know when we'll be back, but we can assure you it is a question of when, not if.

Until then, don't worry. There are always more tales to tell.

Goodbye!

That, and the poison party.

But that doesn't mean it's dark. In the ruins of an ancient city of the Golden Hour, a city bursting with life glows into view. Welcome to the city of the merfolk.

S3.11 - A Year in Outline01 Jan 202101:21:00

Happy New Year! Good Riddance to the old, and let's pretend for a few days that this one might be better! Might!

This week we zoom out to take a peek at the year ahead, specifically at the goings-on in Parresari. We consider important questions like:

  • What seasons are there in Parresari? What do they look like?
  • When do the treasure hunters arrive?
  • Why are shipwrights setting fire to their own vessels?
  • How do you milk a giant bat?

All this and more. Enjoy!

S3.01 - 1,000 Years of Stories20 Oct 202000:56:26

Season three begins now, and boy are we excited! This week, we begin a new exploration into a distant unnamed city. Just one city, not even quite large, and yet the touch of its hand reaches far accross the lands of Sudar.

Ancient artifacts are traded as though they were curios. Desperate relic divers bump elbows with rich merchants. A culture of hospitality trades stories for food and shelter. And in the dawn hours, the spent adventurers bloom tulpas into being, who walk as wraiths in the mists.

Welcome to season 3!

Ser1.6 - BIG9 (S5.07)16 Mar 202301:58:54

In the long history of Sudar, there is perhaps no more overt example of the presence of gods than the Okraiot Shaval, the realms of the leyline spires and the seats of power for the Regents. What kind of impact did this have on the people? Their view of gods and royalty?

Everything works slightly differently in Oruhne. What does that mean for ancestral tidepools? Well for starters, they're literal. As in, literally ancestral.

S2.36 - Master of Love04 Aug 202000:44:16

“Love will not be constrain'd by mastery...Love is a thing as any spirit free.”
Geoffrey Chaucer, The Canterbury Tales

It's been a long while since we did a god mill, so this week we decided to roll one up, with a caveat: what would this god be like in Oruhne? And what if they were exclusive to that continent alone?

S2.34 - They are Who Work in You14 Jul 202001:01:42

"Next time you feel unqualified to be used by God remember this, he tends to recruit from the pit, not the pedestal."

- Someone with Troubling Theology

For a long time now the people of Oruhne have been used for purposes beyond themselves. They've grown used to it. Or at least, that's the common conception.

But not all feel this way. What about those who don't wish to ally themselves with the Wild Gods? What about the Shorn?

S2.33 - The Weapon is the Wielder07 Jul 202001:51:28

“Never forget what you are the rest of the world will not. Wear it like armour and it can never be used to hurt you.”
- George R.R. Martin

When a warrior spends a lifetime with a weapon, it's bound to take on certain aspects of their character. It reflects who they are. When an Oruhnian spends their life by a weapon, the imbuing is literal.

This week, we investigate what the implications of a weapon imbued becomes. How does it change the character of the weapon? Of the imbuer? Is the bond forced? Is it like marriage, or a friend you've always known?

Or something else?

S2.32 - Wanderers and Wayfarers30 Jun 202001:35:17

"Not all those who wander are lost."
- J.R.R. Tolkein

The wilderness is full. Full of adventure and danger and lessons. It will ground you, but also uplift you. And it will certainly endanger your life. This week we travel outside the walls of Haven and Hold to investigate Travel in the land of Oruhne.

S2.31 - A Patchwork Abandoned by its Patternmaker23 Jun 202001:02:14

"...All things continue as they were from the beginning of creation. For this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water, by which the world that then existed perished..."
-Simon Peter, 2 Peter 3:4-5

Oruhne changes. Perhaps it was simply one continent, a rainforest. But what if it was more? If it's a land of wilds, what about the sea, and the shore? What about evergreens and deserts and tundras and mountains and flood plains? The face of Oruhne changes this week.

S2.25 - The Abyss Stares Back19 May 202001:31:23

“Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you.”
-Friedrich Nietzsche

We've established what magic is like on Oruhne, and we've mentioned the corruption. But what is it exactly? How do the people of Oruhne contend with it on a daily basis? And how do "semblences" figure into this?

And so we go.
