| S3E9 - The Dead Daisies Special - Lookin' For Trouble | 09 Jun 2025 | 00:31:07 | |
They’re not just a band — they’re a revolving door of rock royalty. With members who’ve shared stages with Whitesnake, Thin Lizzy, Dio, Mötley Crüe, and INXS, The Dead Daisies have become something bigger than a supergroup. They’re a living, breathing celebration of loud guitars, road-worn truth, and the raw power of rock 'n' roll. On this episode of Long Way to the Top, we go deep with frontman John Corabi as we unpack the band’s latest album, Lookin’ for Trouble — a swaggering, blues-soaked record that hits like a shot of Jack straight from the bottle. It’s a sound that blends classic Southern soul with no-bullshit hard rock, recorded with the urgency and edge of a band that knows exactly who they are. We explore the creative process behind the album, the deep influence of classic blues and the spirit of FAME Records, and how the band managed to bottle live energy into every track. From growling riffs to soul-drenched vocals, this is the Daisies at their most raw, most refined, and most real. Corabi opens up about the chemistry in the studio, the stories behind the songs, and why Lookin’ for Trouble may just be the defining moment in the Daisies' journey. Whether you're a longtime fan or just discovering their sound, this episode is your all-access pass to the heart of one of the hardest-working rock bands on the planet. This is Long Way to the Top — and this is The Dead Daisies in full flight. | S2E16 - Andy Scott - Sweet | 19 Jul 2024 | 00:31:16

Brian, Steve, Mick and Andy were the classic line-up. Sadly with the passing of Brian, Steve, and Mick, Andy Scott is left holding the torch, and now Sweet are heading down under for their farewell tour, playing their greatest hits. Since then this rock journeyman has collaborated with some of the biggest hard rock bands around including Ratt, Brides of Destruction, Union, ESP and more recently the US/Oz collaboration The Dead Daisies, replacing frontman John Stevens. Our guest on Long Way to the Top today is known world wide as the rock brain of the universe, Glenn A Baker. There wouldn’t be many artists that he hasn’t toured with, shared a meal with or some backstage banter, so when I bounced the idea of doing a Rolling Stones special to celebrate their life and the release of their new album Hackney Diamonds, if you can’t get hold of Mick or Keith, then there was only person to speak with. He has gone on record saying "I’m Not as Old as the Rolling Stones and Never Will Be". Enjoy this episode with Glenn A Baker. Hit plus or follow to subscribe to the podcast. Today on the show, we dive back into an interview I did with my Bad Boys Co-Host Andrew Hackett. We chat with Gary Stringer from Reef, a band that created one of the most iconic songs in history. | S1E21 - Paul Mitchell (Think Loud) | 02 Jul 2023 | 00:50:56
In 2019, Paul Mitchell began working on an album with a bunch of musicians and then Covid hit and lockdowns happened around the world. What was a planned album turned into some collaborations, some humorous and some serious. They gained the attention of musician management guru, Ian Grant, who suggested a project to help musicians who were struggling due to lockdowns. That was the beginning of what would ultimately lead to a project put together by the makeshift band of artists that were aptly called Kindred Spirit. Several songs later, the focus was shifted to Parkinson’s Disease, from which Ian was and still is a sufferer. In 2023 the collaboration was aptly titled Think Loud and brought together a who’s who of industry greats. I am honoured to have Paul Mitchell on today’s episode of Long Way to the Top. A champion of environmental and indigenous issues, Shane was in town to share an intimate acoustic concert. As a prelude, he shared a few songs including the latest single takayna. Although it was being broadcast across the North East of Tasmania, our little chat and songs felt like a mini concert performed just for me, because that is how Shane makes you feel as he draws you in with his stories and his passion for this beautiful land. From the beginnings with Razor’s Edge and Solid Rock to his brand new single takayna, enjoy this special Long Way to the Top with Shane Howard and Niamh. | S1E16 - Dave Fishwick (Bank of Dave) | 05 Jun 2023 | 00:20:56
Dave Fishwick, became the subject of a documentary in 2012 when he decided to stick the middle finger up at the banks and start his own bank in the little town of Burnley. And what other name could he call it than the Bank of Dave. It was a David and Goliath story that nearly finished before it got started as the old established banks tried their hardest to stop it. But what makes this story even more interesting is he got some much needed help from a Little Rock band known as Def Leppard. So Dave owes just as much to the rock gods as he does to the public that supported him in making the dream happen. It has been turned into a movie and it has been a smash hit at Cannes and to join us to tell us all about the movie and his life is the real Dave, Dave Fishwick.
