On today's show, we give you our takeaways from the Auburn Spring Game as Hugh Freeze heads into Year 2 on the Plains. All eyes were on the QBs as Payton Thorne made some good throws and showed off his running ability with some RPOs added to the playbook. Freshman WR Cam Coleman continues to impress this spring and should be a big time contributor in 2024. In addition, DJ Durkin's defense looks really solid, and the Auburn front seven shows a lot of promise. Lastly, freshman kicker Towns McGough was MVP of the day hitting all of his field goals including the game-winner.

We are also showing love to Dawn Staley and the South Carolina Gamecocks as they are National Champions yet again. Staley wins her 3rd title as the SEC has now won three straight with the Gamecocks winning twice and Kim Mulkey and LSU winning in between. And Iowa's Cailtin Clark's career comes to an end without a championship.

Lastly, we touch on the magical run the Alabama men's basketball team had as Nate Oats' crew came up short in the Final Four loss to UConn. But an incredible run for the Tide as their future looks bright under Oats. And Arkansas officially lost Eric Musselman to USC, where do the Razorbacks go next?

The Final Four of the NCAA Tournament resulted in a pair of No. 1 seeds set to square off in the national championship game on Monday evening after Danny Hurley and the UConn Huskies took down Nate Oats and the Alabama Crimson Tide, a few hours after the Purdue Boilermakers ended the remarkable run by the NC State Wolfpack.

UConn and Purdue is the matchup everyone was anticipating, and the storylines are nearly endless: It's the first matchup of No. 1 seeds since Gonzaga and Baylor in 2021, it features a pair of centers over 7'2 in Zach Edey and Donovan Clingan, and it will either be a repeat national champion for the first time since Florida did it in 2006 and 2007, or it will be the second time ever a one seed has lost to a No. 16 seed and followed it up with a national championship the next year.

Tennessee Vols WR Chris Brazzell joins the show as he talks about transferring in this offseason from Tulane, where he had a very productive season in 2023. Brazzell talks about his decision to transfer and why he saw Knoxville as his best destination.

Brazzell also talks about what he's so far this spring in QB Nico Iamaleava, and what looks to be a loaded wide receiver room with guys like Bru McCoy, Squirrel White, Donte Thornton, Chas Nimrod and Mike Matthews. He discusses what he likes about Josh Heupel and WR coach Kelsey Pope, and says this offense really suits him well.  

Lastly, Brazzell talks about some of the other key transfers the Vols brought in this offseason, as they all get acclimated to their new environment, and they all look forward to the challenge of playing in the Southeastern Conference.

On today's show, we hit on some of the Spring Practice highlights from the past few days, including a few teams who held spring scrimmages over the weekend.

We touch on the news at Alabama as sophomore WR Jalen Hale suffered a significant injury, though he did give an encouraging update on social media. Arkansas held a full scrimmage in their stadium as QB Taylen Green appears to be the favorite to be QB1 in the Bobby Petrino offense. And #1 QB recruit DJ Lagway showed some positives in his practice time for the Florida Gators, though Billy Napier knows Graham Mertz is his starter - will he build in some play just for Lagway?

In addition, we bring you some takeaways from Georgia, LSU, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Kentucky and South Carolina. Garrett Nussmeier continues to improve at QB for LSU, while the Vols look for improvement in the secondary, and the Gamecocks continue to retool that offensive line.

The Elite 8 is set and its led by a trio of ACC schools, none of whom are UNC. Instead it's Duke, NC State, and Clemson.

On today's show, we react to Kentucky basketball losing in the first round to Oakland, and ask if John Calipari just coached his last game at UK. Losing as a 3-seed to a 14-seed, with several early NCAA Tournament exits for Cal could lead many decision makers at UK to make a tough decision. But with Cal's buyout around $33 million, it would take Calipari stepping aside himself.  

And if Kentucky did part ways with Coach Cal, where could they go for their next coach? With Nate Oats likely off the table with a new massive buyout, some reports say they could consider the likes of Scott Drew, Eric Musselman, Mark Few or even Chris Beard. The Tennessee Volunteers saved the day for the SEC on Thursday, beating St Peter's, while Kentucky, South Carolina and Mississippi State all left in the first round. And that has led to many criticizing Greg Sankey over his recent comments saying there should be a path for more SEC teams to make the tournament.  

Lastly, Alabama football recruiting is off to a hot start for 2025, with Kalen DeBoer picking up several big recruits this week and in the month of March so far.

We react to the news that the SEC is sticking with an 8-game conference schedule once again in 2025, when many thought they would be shifting to nine SEC games. Not only that, but they're going to keep the SAME opponents from 2024, just flip home and away. Seems pretty lazy, Greg Sankey. 

Our buddy Chris Marler joins the show to give his thoughts, as the guys discuss of course this all motivated by money. But who benefits most from keeping the same opponents two years in a row? Mizzou looks like Eli Drinkwitz could certainly run off several consecutive years of 10-win seasons. But who doesn't benefit from the same opponents? How about Kalen DeBoer and Alabama? The Tide will have make road trips to Auburn, Georgia & Mizzou while hosting LSU, Oklahoma and Tennessee. Brutal. 

In addition, there are reports the SEC Network games could shift to 45 minutes later with the new scheduling on ESPN owned channels to stagger the games. We also talk with Marler about Kadyn Proctor transferring BACK to Alabama and much more.

Our spring preview series continues as we stop off in College Station, previewing all things Texas A&M Aggies for 2024. Former DC Mike Elko is now the head coach, taking over for a very rich Jimbo Fisher. And while many expect the Aggies to go through a transition period, many may not be expecting A&M to be an instant contender - but they are! Andrew Stefaniak of Locked On Aggies helps us preview the squad. 

One big reason is QB Connor Weigman is back healthy, and with a new offensive coordinator in Collin Klein calling plays for him. With a bevvy of really good receivers like Moose Muhammad, Noah Thomas, Jahdae Walker and Micah Tease, and tight end Donovan Green back healthy, Weigman could be poised for a big season. And in the backfield, Le'Veon Moss, Amari Daniels and Rueben Owens headline a pretty powerful rushing attack behind what appears to be a strong offensive line. 

And defensively, the Aggies return some studs like Shemar Turner, Shemar Stewart and Taurean York in the front seven, but the secondary needs to be reworked. They bring in some big time transfers like Dezz Ricks, De'Rickey Wright and Jaydon Hill which should help alleviate those issues.

But the biggest positive for Elko in Year 1 is the schedule - the Aggies avoid Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma, and Ole Miss. Their toughest games are all home games vs Notre Dame, LSU and Texas, and the rest is very winnable. So a 10-2 season is VERY manageable for Mike Elko and company if everything clicks.

On today's show, everyone over at Bama is getting paid as the Alabama System Board of Trustees approved new contracts on Monday, as details of Kalen DeBoer's contract are out, making him the 4th highest paid coach in all of college football. In addition, details of his assistant coach contracts available, as well as AD Greg Byrne who's getting a raise, and Alabama basketball coach Nate Oats getting one as well. Oats will have one of the highest buyouts of any college hoops coach. Also, we bring you a few minutes with Alabama QB Jalen Milroe speaking at his football camp back at his high school in Katy, Texas. 

And Greg Sankey sounds off on possible future NCAA Tournament expansion, but we're not with Sankey on this one. Leave the tournament alone, Greg. Could is just be that Sankey is upset it's the one sport that SEC has not been able to dominate in winning championships in recent decades? 

In addition, the CFB Playoff approved revenue increases moving forward as the SEC and Big Ten get the biggest boosts, while it looks like we are getting closer to a 14-team playoff in 2026.

On today's show, we start by reacting to the SEC getting EIGHT teams in the NCAA Tournament, after Auburn won the SEC Tournament over the weekend, but Tennessee gets a 2-seed, while Auburn gets a 4-seed. Bama gets a 4-seed as well, while Kentucky gets a 3-seed. Other SEC teams into tournament include South Carolina, Texas A&M, Florida and Mississippi State.

And our SEC Spring Previews continue, but today it's a Spring REVIEW as the Missouri Tigers held their Spring Game over the weekend, earlier than any other SEC team. We're joined by John Miller host of Locked On Mizzou to get his biggest takeaways from Eli Drinkwitz's spring game that featured no tackling.  

Returning at QB is Brady Cook along with a stud receiving corps including Luther Burden, Mookie Cooper and Theo Wease. And defensively, Mizzou is looking for some new names to step up like transfers DT Chris McClellan and CB Toriano Pride Jr. Can Corey Batoon get the most of this defense like Blake Baker did a year ago? And how about the favorable schedule Mizzou gets in 2024 - can they go at least 10-2 again in back to back seasons?

On today's show, we continue our SEC Spring Preview series talking all things South Carolina Gamecocks with Andrew Lyon from Locked On Gamecocks. With Spencer Rattler moving on to the NFL, the question is if QB LaNorris Sellers can elevate the offense this season with his play, after getting a taste of playing time last year in a couple of games. The offensive line will have to play better, and they said goodbye to stud WRs Xavier Legette and Juice Wells, but they do add a proven running back in Rocket Sanders coming over from Arkansas. Shane Beamer has to get the train back on the tracks. 

On defense, they add a stud freshman pass rusher in Dylan Stewart, and have some proven guys in the secondary like Nick Emmanwori, Jalon Kilgore and DQ Smith, along with LB Debo Williams. They'll need to mix in some new pieces on the defensive line, but this is a big year for this defense to show significant improvement over last season. 

The schedule is brutal for Shane Beamer's group once again, but he will need to improve over last year's losing record, and get to at least 6-6 and go bowling to build back some trust from the fanbase. Beamer continues to recruit at a high level, but at the end of the day, wins are what matter most, and the Gamecocks will need to look competitive to keep the Beamer Era rolling.

On today's episode, we continue our Spring Previews discussing the Ole Miss Rebels. Can Lane Kiffin and the Rebels win a National Championship this season? Are they realistic title contenders? With the schedule that Ole Miss draws, their path to at least a 10-2 season is very doable and that should get them into the 12-team CFB Playoff. 

On offense, bringing back QB Jaxson Dart with a bevvy of weapons should make them as dangerous as always. Ulysses Bentley can fill the void of Quinshon Judkins at running back, and the addition of Juice Wells to go with Tre Harris at wide receiver should be threatening. 

On defense, Pete Golding has a ton of weapons with the additions of Walter Nolen, Princely Umanmielen, Chris Paul, Trey Amos and more. Can the defense be so improved that the offense doesn't have to score a ton of points every week? We discuss it all with Steven Willis of Locked On Ole Miss.

Missouri is adding a QB through the portal in Drew Pyne, the former Arizona State and Notre Dame QB. With Brady Cook back as one of the better SEC QBs returning, Pyne figures to be his backup. After Sam Horn underwent Tommy John surgery, there was an obvious hole on Mizzou's QB depth chart, so Drew Pyne is a welcome addition for Eli Drinkwitz.

Other football tidbits include Ole Miss hiring Zach Arnett as an analyst, while also adding Bryan Brown as co-defensive coordinator and secondary coach; Greg Byrne says they didn't want a Saban disciple to replace Nick Saban; Brian Kelly and LSU add another commit for 2025.  

It was a busy end to the SEC basketball weekend and now we are set with the SEC Tournament - Mississippi State needs some wins as they are on the bubble, while Tennessee and Kentucky have a chance to improve their projected tourney seeding if they can go on deep runs.

South Carolina defeats LSU in the Women's SEC Tournament, and it got scrappy as a fight led to a long stoppage of the clock and several ejections.  

Lastly, we recap a busy weekend for SEC baseball as they prepare for conference action this weekend. Texas A&M remains undefeated, while Georgia is off to one of their best starts ever. Mississippi State is heating up, while Tennessee and Arkansas keep rolling as well.

We continue our spring preview series as we discuss the Florida Gators with Brandon Olsen of Locked On Gators. As Billy Napier heads into Year 3 in the Swamp, can he weather the storm of another brutally tough schedule?

On today's show, we continue our SEC 2024 Spring Previews with a stop off in Knoxville as we're talking all things Tennessee Volunteers. Locked on Vols' Eric Cain joins us as we delve into many of the additions to the roster and coaching staff.

All eyes are on new starting QB Nico Iamaleava who is drawing high expectations from fans and the media, as he appears on a lot of the offseason Heisman candidate lists. Can he get this Josh Heupel offense looking like it did under Hendon Hooker? Also, is Dylan Sampson ready to carry the workload in the backfield? Can this receiving corps bounce back this year with Bru McCoy healthy and Squirrel White looking to take his game to the next level? 

We also discuss the defense which is expected to be much improved under Tim Banks this season, as they retool the entire secondary. The defensive front also looks to be more aggressive, while the linebackers should be solid like last year.

Some new rule changes have been proposed for college football: a two-minute warning at the end of each half, tablets on the sideline, and player-to-coach helmet communication for all FBS programs. How likely and when could these new rules be passed? We discuss.

Two Guaranteed First Round Byes for the SEC & Big Ten in a potential 14-team playoff? Yahoo Sports reports that's what the SEC is proposing if we do indeed move to a 14-team model by 2026. Ross Dellenger's says the SEC and Big Ten would each get THREE automatic qualifiers into a 14-team field. Obviously the proposal is drawing criticism from other conferences.

SEC Week 2 brought unexpected twists and standout performances - Who Impressed & Depressed?

The Kentucky Wildcats faltered against the South Carolina Gamecocks, while Payton Thorne struggled for the Auburn Tigers against Cal. The Arkansas Razorbacks let a lead slip away to the Oklahoma State Cowboys, and the Oklahoma Sooners faced offensive issues despite a win over the Houston Cougars.

The Texas Longhorns dominated the Michigan Wolverines on the road, and the South Carolina Gamecocks secured a big road win over the Kentucky Wildcats. The Tennessee Volunteers crushed the NC State Wolfpack, and Ole Miss Rebels' QB Jackson Dart set passing records. Florida Gators' freshman QB DJ Lagway made a strong debut and set records as well.
