12 Permaculture Principles30 Nov 202200:40:07

Today is another deep dive into permaculture. We're discussing the 12 principles of permaculture. The 12 principles apply to not just gardening but many different aspects of our lives. I have included them below:

  • Observe and interact
  • Catch and store energy (solar, rain, food, heat, etc)
  • Obtain a yield
  • Apply self regulation and obtain feedback
  • Use and value renewable resources and services
  • Produce no waste
  • Design from patterns to details
  • Integrate rather than segregate
  • Use small and slow solutions
  • Use and value diversity
  • Use edges and value marginal
  • Creatively use and respond to change

The greatest change we need to make is from consumption to production, even if on a small scale, in our own gardens. If only 10% of us do this, there is enough for everyone. Hence the futility of revolutionaries who have no gardens, who depend on the very system they attack, and who produce words and bullets, not food and shelter.
