Frequency: 1 episode/22d. Total Eps: 84

Dreaming of living on a sailboat one day? Already cruising and craving connection?
The Liveaboard Sailing Podcast brings you into the cockpit with people who live and travel on their own sailboats. Each conversation goes deeper than destinations and boat specs — we talk about decisions, doubts, budgets, storms, relationships, work, courage and more.
Host Annika, not yet a liveaboard herself, is learning as she goes and asking the questions many new sailors are thinking but don’t know who to ask. Expect warm, meaningful stories, practical advice, lessons learned the hard way, and inspiration for your own journey afloat.

59. Successful start to cruising through practical preparation
Season 5 · Episode 1
mercredi 15 février 2023 • Duration 59:35
This week I’m chatting with a delightful couple, Julie and Gio Cappelli from SV Sea Fox who are full of incredibly useful tips. I talked to them shortly after they had arrived to Mexico about their journey to liveaboard sailing. In this episode we tackle all sort of topics like how they went from wanting an engineless boat with no plumbing to owning a beautiful Swedish-built sailboat, and how they really dove into being super well prepared for this lifestyle change.

57. Going from a scheduled life to an unknown adventure
Season 4 · Episode 8
mercredi 30 novembre 2022 • Duration 52:40
In today’s episode we talk about the highs and lows of sailing, and of life in general. My guests are Dev and Spandana from a Youtube channel called For Sun and Stars, and they tell me how they went from planning a two year backpacking trip to owning a sailboat. We also dive into insurance as new boat owners and what it’s like to leave successful careers behind to pursue an unknown adventure. As Dev and Spandana settled in for their cruising life in the Bahamas, they were dealt another change of plans in the shape of a serious health scare. This episode packs a lot in about 50 minutes or so and makes you reflect what’s important in life.

56. How to survive a multi-year refit
Season 4 · Episode 7
mercredi 23 novembre 2022 • Duration 39:54
This week we are going all in on boat projects! 🛠 My guests are Chris and Kelly from Youtube channel Sailing Adrift and they have just recently completed a multi-year refit of their sailboat from the early 1970s. In fact, at the time of recording, they were just one week away from splashing and it was really great to chat with Chris and Kelly at this point in their journey. They had been working really, really hard, completely rebuilding the boat – and they filmed the whole thing for Youtube – and they actually didn’t have any sailing experience, so all this work was built on the idea that the sailing life will be as amazing as they think it is. So join us as we chat about how they survived the multi-year refit, what it entailed and what’s next.

55. Cultivating adventure by crewing on sailboats and superyachts
Season 4 · Episode 6
mercredi 16 novembre 2022 • Duration 41:08
This week we are talking about crewing on sailboats and super yachts ⛵️🛥 My guest is author Regina Meyer, whose book Change of Course is a tale of international adventures, sailing across oceans and a bit of a memoir of Regina’s time spent living in Antigua. In this interview I ask Regina about tips for anyone interested in being crew on other people’s boats, how to avoid nasty surprises when choosing a boat to crew on, and Regina also reflects on the two sides of Antigua she experienced: living in a rural village with no electricity, and working on a $50million super yacht – all within a few miles from each other.
