Why You're Terrified to Trust Yourself Around Food (And How to Start Changing That) — Coaching Over Coffee28 Oct 202600:44:24

If you've ever felt like you have no trust in yourself around food — like the moment you stop controlling everything, it will all fall apart — this episode is going to show you exactly why this fear exists and how to move towards more freedom and ease around food one step at a time.

In this Coaching Over Coffee session, I'm sitting down with Kendyl, a 25-year-old listener who's been in therapy for over a year, totally gets her patterns intellectually, and stilllll can't shake the anxiety around food and her body. (Sound familiar??)

What unfolds in our session is something I see alllll the time: the food stuff isn't really about food. It's about a nervous system that never learned it was safe to slow down. And here's the thing - you can't think or willpower your way out of that. Your nervous system needs evidence. And evidence only comes from experience.

In this episode we cover:

  • Why food anxiety and body anxiety are often the same nervous system problem in disguise
  • Why talk therapy builds awareness but doesn't always reach where the pattern actually lives
  • What's really underneath the fear of eating without rules (it's not what you think)
  • Why self-trust is built through experience, not intention or information
  • How to treat difficult food moments as data instead of proof that you're broken
  • What one small, tolerable step toward self-trust actually looks like

Are You Addicted to Food? And Is Cutting Out Your Trigger Foods the Answer?21 Oct 202600:49:11

If you've ever felt completely obsessed or out of control around certain foods and wondered “am I just addicted to this? Is this something I'm going to have to manage forever? Is cutting it out the answer?” This episode is for you.

I was listening to a podcast about alcohol addiction this morning and it hit me so hard I scrapped my planned episode to record this instead. Because the parallels between how people describe their relationship with alcohol and how my clients describe their relationship with food are striking. And I think the conclusion a lot of people draw from those parallels - that abstinence is the answer - is one of the most damaging things in this space.

In this episode I discuss...

→The 6 real parallels between a difficult relationship with alcohol and a difficult relationship with food

→Why being high-functioning makes the food problem easier to minimize and harder to address

→What actually happens when you take the food away without fixing what's underneath

→Why abstinence from food is not sobriety - and why it creates the very out-of-control feeling you're trying to fix

→Deprivation neuroscience: why "I can't stop once I start" is usually describing what restriction does to the brain

→What I actually find underneath every "food addiction" story, without exception

Do This to Stop Living by Food Rules and Eat “Normally” Again14 Oct 202600:36:47

"No eating after 7pm. Protein at every meal. Never eat carbs on their own. Stop when you're 80% full. Only eat when you're actually hungry. Don't keep chips in the house. If you had dessert yesterday, skip it today."

Your head is FULL of rules - how you “should” eat. What’s right, and what’s wrong. And as a result…

→ You’re overwhelmed, frustrated, and confused when it comes to food
→ The mental chatter about food is CONSTANT and debilitating
→ You can’t trust yourself and just don’t know how to eat normally anymore

In this episode I discuss...

→The Good Student trap: how following expert advice to the letter is exactly what disconnects you from yourself

→The Rule Keeper — what it is, what it's protecting you from, and why it's not actually your enemy

→Why every "failed" diet taught your nervous system the wrong lesson about self-trust

→The nervous system loop that goes: rules → rebellion → shame → more rules (and how to break it)

→Why throwing all the rules out at once always backfires — and what to do instead

→What it feels like to eat from self-trust instead of fear

→A 4-step journaling exercise to start getting to know your Rule Keeper this week

How to Stop Eating on Autopilot When You Know It Won't Help (Coaching Over Coffee)07 Oct 202600:44:34

"I know what I need to do. I just can't do it." If you've ever said that about food, this episode is for you.

This week's Coaching Over Coffee is with Linda - a scientist who came in asking how to stop the autopilot trips to the chocolate, break the evening eating habit, and convince her brain she doesn't actually need it. And in the first ten minutes, we uncovered something she hadn't considered: that trying to convince your brain is exactly the wrong approach, because the urge isn't coming from your brain at all.

In this episode I talk about…

→Why "I know what I need to do, I just can't do it" is usually the wrong diagnosis — and what's actually going on

→Why trying to convince your brain you don't need the food is like telling someone having a panic attack to calm down

→ Why food is the solution, not the problem -  and what it's actually solving

→How autopilot eating works at the nervous system level, and why there's no pause between urge and behavior

→The connection between eating on autopilot, overworking, overscrolling, and overthinking (same root, different exits)

→Why you're not dealing with fifteen different problems — you're dealing with one

What Does Feeling Full Actually Feel Like?30 Sep 202600:35:28

"Eat when you're hungry, stop when you're full." Ok, wonderful…

But what if you genuinely don't know what full actually feels like? Not stuffed and uncomfortable. The quieter signal. The one that comes before the pain. For a lot of women, that signal has gone basically silent. And this episode is about why, and how to start reconnecting to it.

In this episode I discuss...

→Why years of eating by rules and numbers trains your body to stop sending signals

→How living "from the neck up" disconnects you from the subtler cues of comfortable fullness

→The nervous system reasons being in your body has sometimes felt unsafe

→What comfortable satiety actually feels like: in your mind, your stomach, your energy, and your mood

→The 5 factors that interfere with hearing and honoring your fullness signals

→Why this skill bleeds into self-trust in every area of your life

→A simple 3-check-in practice to start rebuilding the connection this week

How to (Actually) Break Free From the Binge-Restrict Cycle23 Sep 202600:41:30

You already know about the binge-restrict cycle. That's not why you're still stuck in it. In this episode I'm going 10 layers deep into what's actually keeping the cycle running -  including the real reason "just stop restricting" advice doesn't work, and the three things that actually have to happen to break free for good.

In this episode I discuss...

  • Why "just stop restricting" advice can make things worse - and what it's missing
  • The invisible straitjacket: why some people can't stop restricting even when they desperately want to
  • Why your nervous system has coupled food with both safety AND danger at the same time
  • Where those associations come from, and why they make neutrality feel nearly impossible
  • Why stopping restriction doesn't feel like freedom, and why stopping binging doesn't feel like relief
  • The three things that actually have to happen to break the cycle: internal safety, embodiment, and decoupling food from safety and danger
  • What my relationship with work taught me about what makes this cycle so relentless

You already know about the binge-restrict cycle. That's not why you're still stuck in it.

You know that restriction leads to binging. You've understood this intellectually for years. And it keeps happening anyway. Which makes you feel like you're the problem. You're not. You're just working at the wrong level.

In this episode I go 10 layers deep into why the cycle keeps running even when you knowwww better, including the real reason "just stop restricting" advice doesn't work and sometimes makes things worse. We cover why your nervous system has coupled food with both safety and danger at the same time, why that makes neutrality feel nearly impossible, and what three things actually have to happen to genuinely break the cycle for good.

This is the episode I wish existed when I was in the middle of it. The real answer is in here.

How to Stop Panicking About Food and Your Body While Travelling16 Sep 202600:52:48

You spend weeks looking forward to a trip. And then the second you get there, your brain is consumed with thoughts about food and your body.

Constant math about what you've eaten. Dreading the next time you have to put on a bathing suit. Feeling like you're watching your own vacation instead of actually being in it. And this specific kind of shame that comes from knowing you should be relaxed right now, and being completely unable to get there.

This episode is about why that happens, and what's actually going on underneath it.

We cover why travel makes the food and body anxiety so much louder, why it's not actually about the trip (travel removes the tools you've been using to manage something that was always underneath), the "and then what?" exercise for tracing the fear all the way to its actual root, and what to do with it instead of pushing it down or white-knuckling through.

Eating healthy feels SO much harder than it needs to be. In the current age of health and wellness culture, you’re being set up to fail. Too many conflicting opinions, too many rules, confusion, overwhelm… and underneath all of it, a nervous system that's been in survival mode around food for so long that even the word "healthy" can feel like a threat.

The 5-Minute Practice That Changes Everything When You're About to Eat Your Feelings02 Sep 202600:26:07

You’re becoming aware that you turn to food when you’re feeling overwhelmed or feeling like you’re failing at something, as a way to distract from that discomfort. But even though you now know what’s happening, you can’t seem to stop.

That gap between knowing and being able to actually do something different isn't a willpower problem. It has everything to do with your nervous system.

In this episode, I answer a real question from a member inside Food Freedom Academy: she's aware she reaches for food when she's overwhelmed and feeling like she's failing at work, but knowing it isn't stopping it.

We go into what fight or flight actually does to your brain, why the part of you that emotionally eats thinks it's protecting you, and a four-step practice you can use before you reach for food that doesn't involve taking food off the table. Plus why breathwork and walking aren't arbitrary advice, and what they're actually doing in your nervous system.

The goal isn't to never emotionally eat again starting today. It's to build the capacity to be with hard emotions so food doesn't have to do that job alone anymore. One minute at a time.

30 Lessons I Learned Before 30 (I turn 30 Today!)26 Aug 202600:49:58

Today is my 30th birthday. Ahhh!!! And after a month away from the podcast, which hasn't happened since I started it, this felt like the right episode to come back with.

My 20s were challenging and beautiful and full. Living in Italy, living in France, the pandemic, building a business, falling in love, moving between friend groups, failing A LOT growing A LOT. I am SO proud of my 20s. And I am even more excited for what comes next.

In this episode, I'm sharing 30 things I figured out before 30. Some are big life lessons, some are embarrassingly simple, and a few go deep into the stuff I talk about every week: nervous systems, healing patterns, why you can't think your way into change, and why your relationship with food and your body might just be your Mount Everest and what to do about it.

This one is a good one to listen to on a walk. Bring a journal if you want to. And if something lands, come tell me over on Instagram.

The "Wellness Trap" : How To Avoid The Dark Side of Wellness Culture w/ Christy Harrison, RD19 Aug 202600:54:42

Have you ever found yourself spiraling down the "wellness" rabbit hole?

One week you’re told your bloating is from gluten. The next it’s dairy. Then suddenly you’re on your 5th elimination diet, $300 deep in supplements, and still feeling exhausted, anxious, and confused.

I know that trap because I lived it. And so did my guest today - Christy Harrison.

Christy is a registered dietitian, journalist, host of Rethinking Wellness, and author of the books Anti-Diet and The Wellness Trap. She has spent years pulling back the curtain on how wellness culture often isn’t the solution, it’s just diet culture with green juice and lab tests.

In this episode, Christy and I get real about:

✨ The sneaky overlap between diet culture and wellness culture (and how both make you feel like you’re the problem)

✨ The “care effect” & why just being heard can make you feel better, even when the treatment itself doesn’t work

✨ Common wellness buzzwords (root cause, adrenal fatigue, candida) and what they actually mean

✨ Why we fall for restrictive diets & wellness protocols even when they make us sicker

✨ How to tell if your pursuit of “healing” is quietly stealing your joy, money, and freedom

✨ The difference between wellness and true well-being - and how to move toward the latter

This isn’t about shaming anyone who’s tried alternative medicine, elimination diets, or supplements. It’s about giving you the clarity, context, and compassion you need to protect yourself from getting stuck in another endless cycle of “fixing.”

Christy’s work has helped thousands of people untangle from both diet culture and wellness culture , and after this conversation, you’ll have a new lens for spotting when health advice is helping… or harming.

How To Stop Hating Your Body22 Jul 202600:26:44

Affirmations aren't going to fix the fact that you haven’t felt safe or comfortable in your body for decades. Neither is journaling. And neither will knowing, intellectually, that your body is the least interesting thing about you.

Because body hatred doesn't live as a thought. It lives in your nervous system. It's a survival program, wired in at some point that linked your size, your weight, your appearance, to your safety. And you cannot think your way out of a program that lives in your body.

In this episode, I'm breaking down why everything you've tried hasn't worked (and it's not because you didn't try hard enough), what hating your body is actually doing for your nervous system, why you can want to lose weight and still do this work, and the three-step process for rewiring body hatred at the level where it actually lives.

The goal isn't to love your body. It's to stop linking worth/safety/confidence to something that will inevitably fluctuate throughout your life.

The Real Reason You Feel the Need to Control Everything About Food (The Nervous System Series, Ep. 5)15 Jul 202600:29:32

You don't have a control problem. You have a nervous system that found control through food.

Episode 5 of the Nervous System Series is about the real reason behind the compulsion to track, restrict, and micromanage everything around food, including my own story of moving to university at 18, my nervous system hitting DEEP dysregulation,  and realizing years later that what I thought was my personality was actually a strategy. A really effective, really painful, really exhausting strategy.

We go into why the brain keeps filing "control food = feel safer" even when you knowwww it's not logical, the loop where external control creates more dysregulation over time, why this bleeds into your to-do lists and your relationships and everywhere else, and what it actually means to rewire at the root rather than just get better at managing it.

You've wanted to let go for a long time. This episode is about why you haven't been able to, and what actually has to change.

Why "Just Listen to Your Body" Isn't Working For You (The Nervous System Series, Ep.4)08 Jul 202600:32:08

You've tried to "just listen to your body." And it either feels like silence, or static, or something comes through that feels way too scary or confusing to stay with. And then you wonder what is wrong with you, because this is supposed to be natural.

Nothing is wrong with you. But there are three very specific reasons why this feels impossible, and this episode breaks all of them down.

In Episode 4 of the Nervous System Series, we go into why survival mode literally turns off your body's signals, what years of overriding your hunger actually trained your brain to do, and why tuning inward can feel actively scary when your body is holding unprocessed emotions. We also cover the comfort zone, growth zone, panic zone framework, and why trying to do too much too fast always sends you straight back to where you started.

Intuitive eating is the destination. But there's a step that has to come first. This episode is about that step.

You're Not Broken With Food, Your Nervous System Is Dysregulated. Here's How to Tell (The Nervous System Series, Ep.3)01 Jul 202600:37:57

You are not lazy. You're not a procrastinator. You don't "just lack willpower." Your nervous system is dysregulated, and once you can recognize that, your shame will start to lift.

In this episode, I walk through an audit - the physical, emotional, behavioral, and thought-pattern signs that you're living in survival mode without realizing it. Sleep that doesn't actually restore you. A harsh inner critic that gets meaner on hard days. Resting that feels more like exposure than relaxation. Racing thoughts at night, second-guessing every decision, looping on the same problem for the hundredth time.

None of this is your personality. It's a nervous system that's been dysregulated for a long time, with no one ever teaching it differently. This episode is step one: learning to recognize the signs, so you can start catching them earlier instead of waiting until you completely fall apart.

The 4 Nervous System States Running Your Relationship With Food (The Nervous System Series, Ep. 2)24 Jun 202600:40:47

The state of your nervous system impacts what, why and how you eat. It determines whether you can hear the signals of your body or not. It determines how you feel about yourself and your body.

So it is soooo important to:
1) be able to recognize which state you’re in

2) know how to bring yourself back to a regulated and present state

Roughly 70% of people in the Western world are walking around in a survival state and have NO idea. They just think it's their personality, but it's not.

In episode 2 of the Nervous System Series, I’m breaking down what what each state actually feels like in your body, exactly how it shows up at the table (emotional eating, gripping control tighter, eating one way in public and a totally different way alone), and why shame and willpower were never going to fix this.

It's Not a Food Problem. It's a Nervous System Problem (The Nervous System Series, Ep. 1)17 Jun 202600:48:47

Your nervous system runs your relationship with food. Not your willpower. Not even how much you WANT to change. Your nervous system - and until you understand what's actually happening in your body, no strategy is going to stick long-term.

This is Episode 1 of the Nervous System Series, and it's the foundational episode: what your nervous system actually is, what it means to be chronically dysregulated, and exactly how that shows up in your relationship with food.

We cover what neuroception is and why your body is making threat assessments before your brain even has a chance to weigh in. What dysregulation actually looks like (it doesn't always look like stress). Why standing at the fridge at 10pm not even hungry isn't a willpower failure. And what a healthy nervous system actually is — because it's not about being calm all the time.

This episode is the "why" behind everything. Listen here first.

The 2026 Breakdown That Made Me Rebuild Myself and My Business10 Jun 202600:46:19

Two and a half months ago, I had a breakdown bad enough that I had two choices: completely change how I was running my business, or quit.

I chose to rebuild myself, and every facet of how I was running my business (boy was it hard). And this episode is me finally telling you what that actually looked like.

For years, I had been normalizing monthly breakdowns. Curled up on the bed, crying for hours, convinced I was a failure. Luke holding me together. I thought it was just the cost of running a business. It wasn't. It was life throwing boulders at me trying to get my attention. I had received about 20 too many before I finally listened.

In this episode, I'm sharing the full story: how being the "good student" without trusting myself led me to build someone else's business, what my nervous system was doing even when I knew logically I was fine, and what the rebuild has actually looked like, including a 60% income increase that happened when I stopped pushing so hard.

These patterns aren't just mine. The perfectionism, the all-or-nothing, the looking outside yourself for answers while ignoring your own signals. That's exactly what's showing up in your relationship with food too. This episode is for anyone who has been running on empty and calling it discipline.

Why Can't I Stop Bingeing Even Though I Want To?03 Jun 202600:38:34

You don’t need more willpower to stop bingeing. You don’t even need to want it “badly” enough. You need to uncover what the binges are DOING for you.

In this episode, I sit down with a member of my community, Melissa, for a deep coaching over coffee session about  binge eating, sugar cravings, and the pattern that keeps running no matter how much self-awareness she has. She knows what's happening. And it keeps happening anyway.

We get into:

  • Why you're not addicted to the food — you're addicted to the relief it gives you
  • Why you can eat balanced all morning and completely lose it by 4pm (this one will click something into place for you)
  • Why trying to make a different choice in the moment almost never works
  • The rehearsal technique that rewires your autopilot BEFORE you're in the trigger
  • What it means to teach your body that discomfort is survivable

This conversation is for the woman who's tired of knowing better and still not doing better.

Why the Way You've Been Taught to Build Habits Isn't Working for You w/ Monica Packer27 May 202600:47:10

How many times have you started a habit, felt good about it, and then watched it fall apart the second life got in the way? And then blamed yourself for it?

My guest today has spent 20 years studying exactly WHY that happens, and her answer is going to reframe the whole thing for you.

Monica Packer is a certified habits and identity coach, host of the top-rated podcast About Progress, and author of the upcoming book Sticky Habits: A Woman's Guide to Reclaim Happiness, Ditch Perfectionism, and Create Habits That Last. She's also a 20-year eating disorder recovery warrior, which made this conversation feel SO real and grounded.

The big idea: the habit advice we've all been handed was built by and for people whose lives look nothing like ours. And because of invisible labor, women have less time, less energy, more interruptions, and less predictability than the system assumes. It was never going to work.

In this episode, you'll learn:

  • What the "underachieving perfectionist" actually looks like (and if you're one without knowing it)
  • Why standard consistency advice fails women, and how to redefine it
  • The ideal vs. baseline habit framework that makes you stop breaking habits for good
  • How every tiny baseline action rewires your identity
  • The one belief Monica wants every woman to walk away holding

3 Steps to Get Rid of the "Clean Your Plate" Mentality For Good20 May 202600:39:03

You know you’re full. Your body it’s had enough. And yet something takes over and you finish the plate anyway.

That's not a willpower problem. It's a pattern that got wired into your nervous system long before you were old enough to question it, so willpower was never going to be enough to touch it.

In this episode, I'm walking you through 3 specific steps to actually rewire the "clean your plate" mentality for good — not just override it occasionally, but unlearn it at the level where it actually lives.

We cover:

  • Where this pattern comes from
  • The specific mindsets driving the behavior now, including "getting my money's worth" and the scarcity belief that shows up even when food is plentiful
  • Why trying to change this in the moment almost never works, and what to do instead
  • How to rehearse your way out of old patterns before you're in them

Including the mindset shift that makes a big difference: your body is not a garbage can.

This pattern can be unlearned. Even if it's been with you for decades.

Why Part Of You Doesn't Actually Want Food Freedom13 May 202600:45:46

You can want something with your WHOLE heart and still have a part of you working against it.

I got back from my Sedona retreat a couple of days ago and I have been DYING to record this episode. Because what came out of that trip, I did not see coming.

I thought I'd released all the resistance around my goal. I'd been doing the work every single day for months. And then I sat around a fire with my two business girlfriends and completely fell apart, because I realized that part of me had attached achieving this goal to losing everyone I love, ending up alone, and somehow having to go into hiding after a Reddit thread.

I am not kidding. That is where my subconscious had taken me.

And if that sounds familiar, even a little? This episode is for you.

In this episode, you'll learn:

  • Why wanting a goal with everything you have doesn't mean all parts of you are on board
  • How your subconscious quietly attaches your goals to worst-case scenarios
  • The "follow the thread" exercise for finding the hidden fear driving your food patterns
  • Why your nervous system finds failure more comfortable than success
  • How to do a "software update" so your goal finally feels safe to achieve

If you've been stuck longer than makes sense, this one's going to make things click for you.

Healing From a 20-Year Undiagnosed Eating Disorder with Foster Wilson06 May 202600:42:27

Eating disorders don't often look like what you might picture in your mind.

We often dismiss what we're going through or experiencing because we're not "too thin" or needing to be hospitalized.

But as you’ll hear in today’s episode, you don’t have to look sick to be struggling.

I’m joined by Foster Wilson, a poet, postpartum doula, and podcast host whose work bridges creativity, care, and connection. After living with an undiagnosed eating disorder for over 20 years, Foster shares what it was really like to exist in the exhausting, all-consuming cycle of food noise, body shame, and perfectionism - all while appearing “fine” on the outside.

Foster’s journey toward recovery began when she finally realized that her so-called “healthy habits” were actually keeping her trapped. Through intuitive eating, nervous system healing, and radical self-compassion, she learned to rebuild trust with her body and redefine what nourishment truly means.

 In this episode, you'll learn:

  • What it’s really like to live with a “hidden” eating disorder
  • How perfectionism and people-pleasing fuel food anxiety and control
  • Why letting go of food rules feels terrifying — and why that’s a good thing
  • How nervous system safety and self-compassion support food freedom
  • The healing power of vulnerability, creativity, and community

If you’ve ever wondered whether what you’re experiencing “counts” as disordered eating, or you’ve struggled to quiet the mental noise around food, this episode will remind you: you’re not broken, and it’s never too late to heal your relationship with food and your body.

How I Eat While Traveling (Without Anxiety or Needing To "Getting Back on Track")29 Apr 202600:44:42

If you've ever spent the weeks before a trip restricting, overexercising, and trying to "clean up" your eating — only to arrive and feel completely out of control around food — this episode is for you.

I know what it's like when a vacation creates more food anxiety than genuine excitement. When you're stressing about it WEEKS before you leave, eat in a way that feels chaotic once you're there, and come home already planning how to compensate. The trip is supposed to be the good part. And it's just... exhausting.

In this episode, I'm walking you through exactly how I eat while traveling now — as someone who has genuinely healed her relationship with food. From travel days and nervous system regulation, to eating out without anxiety, to eating more than everyone at the table without making it mean anything.

I also talk about how I handle coming home — and why "getting back on track" now looks a lot more like slowing down than compensating.

This isn't a set of travel eating rules. It's a window into what's possible when food stops being the thing you have to manage, and just becomes… food.

She Went From Food & Exercise Obsessed (for 40 Years) to Eating With Complete Ease & Freedom — Stephanie's Story22 Apr 202600:43:48

Stephanie had been navigating a complicated relationship with food and her body since she was 15.

On the outside, she had it “all together”. She was a teacher, a marathoner, an Ironman athlete - someone who got called disciplined and in control her whole life. For decades, she mostly convinced herself she was okay. But she wasn’t.

In this episode, Stephanie shares what four decades of disordered eating and compulsive exercise actually looked like - how it shifted shapes over the years, what finally pushed her to do something different, and what life is like now.

She talks about the messy middle of healing: letting go of the habits that kept you safe before anything replaces them. About going out for pizza and wings with friends and just... eating. Focused on the conversation, not the food.

And she talks about what she'd say to the woman who's been struggling so long she's quietly stopped believing it gets better.

"I thought I was going to die with this," she says.

She didn't. This one's for the woman who's starting to wonder if she will too.

How I Eat as a Recovered Disordered Eater (No Rules, Tracking or Guilt)15 Apr 202600:44:07

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to approach food with flexibility, ease and peace of mind?

To just…listen to your body, eat what sounds good, and move on with your day?

Well, this episode is going to show you! I'm taking you inside my internal world to share how I eat as a recovered disordered eater. Not WHAT I eat, exactly -  but how I think about it. The filters behind my decisions. The difference between choosing from fear and choosing from self-knowledge.

I walk through a few days of eating, but the real takeaway isn't the food. It's the mindset behind it. One that took years to build, and that you can build too.

In this episode: why the same food choice can come from two completely different places, why "just listen to your body" advice falls flat for so many women, and what it looks like when eating decisions finally become effortless.

"How Do I Stop Numbing My Emotions With Food?"08 Apr 202600:34:12

Most of us have been there. A hard day, a stressful afternoon, a moment where you're just…done. And before you've made any kind of conscious decision, you're in the kitchen. Eating something you didn't really plan to eat. Sometimes it feels chaotic and out of control.

And it helps! For about two minutes. And then it doesn't. And then the guilt shows up, the emotions you were trying to escape come back, and you feel worse than before.

If that loop sounds familiar, this episode is going to give you a completely different way to understand it.

Because this isn't about willpower. It isn't really about food either. There's actual neuroscience behind why emotional eating feels so impossible to break. And once you understand this, things will start to make a lot more sense.

In this episode, we cover:

  • Why you're not actually "addicted to food" and what you're ACTUALLY craving instead
  • The trigger–behavior–relief loop that makes emotional eating feel automatic and beyond your control
  • How this pattern forms, often starting in childhood, and why it has nothing to do with weakness
  • Why food takes up SO much space when it becomes your main source of comfort or relief
  • What the real goal is (hint: it's not better food control)
  • Two journal questions to help you start seeing your own pattern more clearly

If emotional eating has felt like something that just takes over no matter how hard you try, this episode is going to help you understand why. And that understanding is the beginning of actually changing it.

Why You Self-Sabotage When Things Are Going Well - And How to Stop01 Apr 202600:33:22

You know when you’ve had a good stretch? You feel like you’re making progress. Things are quieter around food. You're not thinking about it as much. You’re actually noticing…change.

But instead of relaxing into it, you find yourself waiting for it to fall apart. Waiting for the next shoe to drop.

One of our Food Freedom Academy members asked me about this recently. She'd been making real progress less than a month in and she said: I keep noticing I'm braced for failure. Is that normal?

Yes. And there's a specific reason it happens.

In this episode, I'm breaking down why you get pulled back into old patterns right when things start to shift. Your body isn't working against you - it's responding to something unfamiliar. And to your nervous system, unfamiliar and dangerous feel identical, even when one of them is healing.

You'll walk away understanding why the discomfort of progress is actually a sign the work is happening, what to do when your old identity starts making noise, and how to stay in the new without retreating to the old.

If you've ever had a good stretch and found yourself just waiting for it to end, this one's for you.

Physically, Mentally and Emotionally Healthy: What It Actually Takes To Get There w/ Courtney Townley25 Mar 202600:56:08

We hear it all the time…

 “Just be consistent.”

 “Just stick to the plan.”

 “Just try harder.”

But what if the reason you feel inconsistent, stuck, or like nothing is really clicking… has nothing to do with your effort?

In this episode, I'm joined by Courtney Townley, women's health coach, host of the Grace & Grit podcast, and author of The Consistency Code - and we go way deeper than food, workouts, or routines.

We talk about what it actually means to be physically, mentally, and emotionally healthy… and why so many women feel like they’re doing everything “right” but still don’t feel good in their lives.

We live in a world of "info-besity." There's no shortage of protocols, plans, and programs telling you exactly what to eat, how to move, and who to be. And yet… you're still stuck. Still starting over. Still wondering why it feels so hard.

Because real health isn’t about following a perfect plan. It’s about learning how to lead yourself through a life that is constantly changing.

And if you’ve been stuck in cycles of starting over, feeling off track, or questioning yourself… this episode is going to completely transform your perspective.

In This Episode, We Talk About:

  • Why outsourcing your health keeps pulling you further from yourself — and what to do instead
  • The concept of "info-besity" and why more information is not the solution
  • The 4-part Consistency Code framework
  • What self-trust actually is (hint: it's a practice, not a personality trait)
  • Why busyness is often a hiding habit — and what you might really be avoiding
  • The campfire analogy that will completely reframe how you think about falling off track
  • Why you cannot criticize yourself healthy — and what the science says about it
  • The one small shift you can make today to start unburdening your nervous system

About Courtney Townley

Courtney has been helping women take better care of themselves with more consistency and ease for over 20 years. She teaches women how to rebuild their relationship with themselves so they can experience deep health, purpose, and impact. She’s the host of the Grace & Grit podcast and the author of The Consistency Code.

How To Heal Your Metabolism After Years Of Dieting w/ Ashley Fillmore 11 Mar 202600:42:48

“What if I’ve dieted for so long that I’ve permanently damaged my metabolism?”

This is a question I hear a lot. If you’ve spent years restricting, tracking, cutting carbs, pushing through hunger, over-exercising, … it makes sense that your body doesn’t feel the same anymore.

Maybe you’re exhausted.

Maybe you’re lifting weights but not building muscle.

Maybe you’re barely hungry all day… then ravenous at night.

Maybe the second you loosen control, your brain screams, “You’re going to gain everything back.”

In this episode, I sit down with Ashley Fillmore - professional nutrition coach, health educator and certified personal training with nearly 20 years of experience helping women heal their metabolism , balance their hormones and achieve body-composition changes that last a lifetime.

We talk about:

• What “metabolic adaptation” really is

 • Why chronic restriction down-regulates your metabolism

 • The difference between intentional healing and chaotic rebound eating

 • Why swinging from restriction to bingeing feels so awful

 • Signs your metabolism needs support

 • And the question everyone is afraid to ask: Is it repairable?

This conversation is so compassionate and science-informed. You're going to walk away knowing how to begin supporting your metabolism without obsessively tracking or white-knuckling your way through another plan.

3-Steps To *Actually* Separate Your Worth From Your Body04 Mar 202600:40:53

Chances are, that you are already abundantly aware that too much of your worth is attached to your body. Maybe...

  • Your mood changes depending on the number on the scale
  • You feel more confident on “good body” days and want to hide on “bad” ones
  • You believe you’ll finally feel worthy once you lose the weight
  • You postpone photos, dating, trips, clothes… until you look different
  • Compliments about your body feel like they give you life
  • Criticism about your body feels like a punch to the gut

And underneath all of that, there’s this quiet belief: “If my body isn’t good enough, I’m not good enough.”

This can feel like an incredibly difficult belief to dismantle, especially because it's likely been your driving force for years - or even decades.

You could try affirmations all day long, and a thousand people could repeat the phrase "your body is the least interesting thing about you", and yet... that honestly doesn't really help. The sentiment is nice, but at the end of the day, you still feel like your body changing is the worst thing that could ever happen to you.

So the natural question is :"how the heck do you ACTUALLY detach your worth from your body?"

...in a way that works. That's what we're talking about in this episode.

First, we're going to look at the ways in which this belief is actually getting in the way of your goal - which is to create a life of health, happiness, peace, joy and fulfilment. So...we have to rewire that.

And then, we're going to talk about how to actually separate your worth from your body: recognizing that your value as a human being is inherent and unchanging, regardless of your size, shape, weight, or how your body looks on any given day.

This is suchhhhh a good one! So let's get into it 🎙️

How To Break The “I’ll Get Back On Track Monday” Cycle25 Feb 202600:43:26

Are you someone who is locked in with food during the week? You're disciplined, structured, productive, following your eating plan, no "junk" food in the house... being "good"...

And then as Friday night hits, it's like a switch flips.

You can finally relax, allow yourself to have the foods you've been avoiding, and you end up eating in a way that doesn't feel great for your body throughout the entire weekend.

So you tell yourself: “It’s fine. I’ll just get back on track Monday.”

In this episode, we're talking about how this pattern might be showing you something deeper in your relationship with food and why it's something that we absolutely want to address.

I know this cycle very well, because I repeated it for years. What I didn't realize at the time is that it was keeping me stuck in fear, anxiety and lack of trust around food.

I talk about:

  • The fear of weight gain that keeps you gripping so tightly
  • Why avoiding certain foods keeps the fear alive
  • How bringing previously “trigger” foods back into your home actually builds trust

A New Way To Reconnect With Your Body's Wisdom & Intuition Again w/ Cassandra Bodzak18 Feb 202600:54:17

Most of us have been taught to live our lives according to what is the "right" or "wrong" thing to do.

We look to others. We compare. We copy. We see something that's working for someone else, so we try to replicate it.

But that keeps us disconnected from our own individuality. No two humans are designed the same. There's no one-size-fits-all approach to health, nutrition, movement, self-care, relationships, career, or really ANY area in our life.

We're all unique. And the only way to create a life that lights you up - that makes sense for you, that feels good, that aligns with your purpose and your genetic makeup - is through your body and intuition.

Your body has infinite wisdom, and it's always ready to communicate with you. But most of us have never been taught how to listen.

So in this episode, I'm joining by Cassandra Bodziak - mindfulness author, holistic wellness guide, and the author of The Mindful Table - to talk about how to reconnect with your body’s wisdom and intuition after years of dieting, overriding yourself, and outsourcing trust to rules, plans, and “experts.”

You're going to learn:

  • Why intuition isn’t a personality trait but a skill you can relearn
  • How dieting trains you to override your body’s signals
  • Why hunger, cravings, and fatigue are forms of communication, not problems to fix
  • Practical strategies to build trust with your body again
  • How food struggles soften when your body finally feels heard

If you’ve been wanting to stop outsourcing your life decisions and start trusting yourself, this conversation is for you.

The Biggest Limiting Belief Sabotaging Your Food Freedom11 Feb 202600:41:39

If you’ve been trying to heal your relationship with food for years (or decades), and you’re still not where you want to be, this episode is for you. Because today we’re talking about a invisible belief that lives so deep, most women don’t even realize it’s running the show.

I dive into why your nervous system has built protective armor after years of false starts, “failed” diets, and the kind of hope that felt amazing… until it turned into disappointment, shame, and another Monday restart.

In this episode, I’ll walk you through:

  • The simple question that exposes your default future (and what it reveals about your subconscious beliefs)
  • Why your brain uses the past to predict the future, even when it keeps you stuck
  • The 6 sneaky ways the “I can’t change” belief sabotages your progress
    • turning a hard day into “I failed”
    • filtering for proof you’re doing poorly (hello, RAS)
    • avoiding support or not fully implementing it
    • getting stuck in research mode instead of action mode
    • looking for a way out instead of getting curious
    • not allowing wins to actually sink in
  • The “guardian of your mind” that will delete, distort, or generalize your progress so it can stay right
  • Why this isn’t about motivation, it’s about safety (and the hot stove analogy you’ll never un-hear)

Journal prompts

  1. If the part of me that doesn’t believe change is possible could talk, what is she afraid would happen if I started to believe I could truly heal my relationship with food?
  2. What do I secretly believe about myself and food that I’ve never said out loud (or never let myself fully look at)?

How To Overcome The Fear Of Eating More04 Feb 202600:46:16

If you’ve ever thought, “I know I should eat more… so why does the idea of it freak me out?” this episode is for you.

Maybe you’re rigid with calories or portions.

Maybe you’re constantly hungry, tired, or thinking about food.

Maybe you’re technically eating what you’ve been told is “enough,” but your body is saying otherwise.

And yet, when you even think about eating more, your chest tightens. Panic kicks in. Fear takes over.

In this episode, we’re talking about why that happens and why it has nothing to do with willpower or discipline.

I’m breaking down:

  • Why MOST women are not actually under-eating without knowing it
  • The two types of under-eating most women don’t realize they’re stuck in
  • Why not eating enough creates constant food noise, cravings, and exhaustion
  • The difference between knowing you need to eat more and actually being able to do it
  • Why your nervous system might interpret eating more as a threat
  • How control around food becomes a safety strategy
  • What actually helps you move through the fear without forcing yourself

If eating LESS has felt safer than eating enough…

This episode will help you understand what’s really going on beneath the surface and how to begin creating safety with food again, so that you can:

→ Reduce food noise and constant hunger

→ Have more energy, focus and concentration

→ Reduce cravings and binges

→ Reduce brain fog

→ Meet your fitness goals

And overall, feel SO much better throughout your day.

She Tried Every Diet for 30 Years. THIS Is What Actually Healed Her Relationship With Food - Mandie's Food Freedom Story21 Jan 202600:50:24

If you’ve ever thought, “I’ve tried everything… why is food still so hard for me?” this episode is for you.

title: "I Tried Every Diet for 30 Years. This Is What Actually Healed My Relationship With Food"

In this deeply honest conversation, I sit down with Mandie, a former long-term dieter, perfectionist, mom, and high-achiever who spent over 30 years managing her weight, controlling food, and trying to “do it right”… yet still felt trapped by food obsession, binge cycles, and constant mental noise.

Mandie shares what it was like to:

  • Start dieting at 10 years old with the best intentions
  • Spend decades bouncing between control and loss of control
  • Do “well” in every area of life except food
  • Feel terrified to let go of rules because control felt safer than trust
  • Realize the problem was never food or willpower, but nervous system dysregulation and self-trust

We talk about the uncomfortable middle of healing. The part no one prepares you for. Feeling emotions instead of eating them. Resting without guilt. Gaining a little weight before finding your body’s natural balance. Learning to trust yourself again after years of outsourcing that trust to plans, points, and rules.

This episode is not about quick fixes or perfect eating.

It’s about what actually creates peace.

It’s about why healing feels hard before it feels freeing.

And it’s about why you’re not broken, lazy, or failing, even if it feels that way right now.

If you’re exhausted from white-knuckling food, tired of starting over, and wondering if real freedom is still possible for you, this conversation will remind you that it is.

And sometimes, the next step isn’t another plan.

It’s support, safety, and learning how to trust yourself again.

"Why Am I Still Struggling With Food After Doing SO MUCH Work On It?"14 Jan 202600:33:05

Do you feel like you've been doing everything you can do change your experience with food, yet you're still not where you want to be?

Maybe you’ve read the books. Listened to the podcasts. Done the journaling, the mindset work, the healing work.

And yet… you’re still overeating or obsessing over food constantly.

In this episode, we’re unpacking why that's happening, and no, it’s not because you’re broken, lazy, or doing it wrong.

You’ll hear the core insight that completely changed everything for me and finally explained why I stayed stuck for so long, even when I was “doing all the right things.” It’s a perspective shift that brings so much clarity, relief, and honestly… hope.

We talk about:

  • Why effort alone doesn’t always lead to lasting change with food
  • How your default way of thinking, feeling, and showing up around food may be recreating the same patterns
  • The difference between changing what you do versus changing who you’re being
  • Why focusing on the past can quietly keep you stuck in it
  • A simple but powerful reflection exercise to help you see what’s really going on beneath the surface

This conversation is not about judgment or fixing yourself. It’s about awareness, compassion, and finally understanding the real reason change hasn’t stuck yet. If you’re tired of starting over and want food to feel easier, calmer, and less consuming, this episode will help things click in a whole new way.

How To Break Free From The Yo-Yo Diet Cycle For Good This Year31 Dec 202500:41:38

Does this pattern feel familiar to you?

  1. You go on a diet/restrict food to lose weight
  2. You feel deprived and your cravings for foods you "shouldn't" have increase
  3. You give in to temptation and eat the "off-limit" food. You might think to yourself "I shouldn't be having this", so you eat quickly and don't quite enjoy the food. You probably eat a lot because you think "“What the hell. I’ve had one I might as well have the whole thing".
  4. Feelings of guilt & shame take over. You feel like a failure and angry at yourself for lacking the willpower to resist.
  5. You go back to restricting , and vow to "get back on track tomorrow" to make up for the binge you just had.
  6. The cycle restarts again. And again. And again.

If you've experienced this endlessly frustrating cycle, and you desperately want to learn how to break it so that you can develop a way of eating that is consistent, balanced and enjoyable, this episode is for you.

In this episode, I'm going to:

  • Help you understand in detail what the diet cycle really is, so that you can start recognizing certain patterns in your life
  • Explain what triggers this cycle, and how we get trapped it in
  • Break down how you can finally break free from this cycle, so that you can finally get off the rollercoaster of constantly being "on and off the wagon" and start truly living a life of freedom with food

How Perfectionism Is Quietly Ruining Your Relationship With Food & Your Body w/Jennifer Delliquadri08 Dec 202500:49:42

Perfectionism isn’t just about color-coding your pantry or needing straight-A’s. It’s the quiet, relentless voice that tells you you’re never doing enough, being enough, or eating “good” enough.

In this episode, I sit down with Jennifer Delliquadri, a Midlife Fitness Coach who helps women rewrite the stories they’ve been telling themselves about their body, their habits, and what’s truly possible after 40. Her work blends mindset, movement, and mindful habit change to help women build strength, confidence, and ease in their bodies—without burnout or perfectionism.

Together, we unpack how perfectionism hides behind control, over-functioning, and “doing everything right,” while silently fueling anxiety, food obsession, and dissatisfaction in your body. Jennifer shares her own powerful story of hitting burnout, rediscovering herself in midlife, and learning how to feel good in her body without chasing numbers, rules, or approval.

You’ll learn how to:

  • Recognize the sneaky ways perfectionism shows up in your health and eating habits
  • Rebuild trust with your body (even when it’s changing in midlife)
  • Stop turning every wellness goal into another “project” to perfect
  • Bring curiosity and compassion into your food and body journey
  • Start feeling good again—without guilt, control, or overthinking

If you’ve ever thought, “I’m doing everything right… so why don’t I feel better?” — this conversation will be the wake-up call you didn’t know you needed.

Tune in if you struggle with:

  • All-or-nothing thinking around food or exercise
  • Feeling disconnected from your body after years of dieting or overachieving
  • Midlife body changes, perimenopause, or burnout
  • Letting go of control and trusting yourself again

6 Reasons Food Feels Harder At The End Of The Year03 Dec 202500:36:44

Let's be hones...December is challenging. You might find yourself more anxious around food, thinking about your body more, overeating more often or slipping back into old patterns you thought you were done with.

Let's talk about why.

It's not because you're failing.

You’re not going backwards.

You’re not suddenly terrible at intuitive eating.

There's just so many unique challenges that come with the month of December that most people don't talk about.

In this episode, I’m breaking down the 6 real reasons why food feels harder at the end of the year. These reasons have nothing to do with willpower… and everything to do with your nervous system, emotions, routine, and the pressure you’re carrying.

If you're asking yourself things like...

  • “Why am I binge eating during the holidays?”
  • “Why do I overeat at night in December?”
  • “How do I stop emotional eating when I'm stressed?”
  • “Why am I thinking about food ALL THE TIME?”

 …this one’s for you ❤️

Send me a DM on Instagram @sabrina.magnan.health and tell me which reason hit the hardest. I love hearing from you!

How To Let Go Of Control & Have More Peace In Your Life26 Nov 202500:35:13

If you’ve ever felt yourself clenching your way through life - micromanaging every detail, obsessing over getting it “right,” trying to predict every possible outcome so nothing feels scary or uncertain - you already know how exhausting the grip of control can be.

It feels like you’re holding everything together… while quietly falling apart inside. You don't trust yourself, others or the world around you.

And yet, letting go?

That somehow feels even scarier.

In this episode, we’re unpacking that push-pull dynamic - the part of you that wants more peace and freedom, and the part of you that’s terrified to release the reins.

You’ll hear the real story of a moment that shoved me right into the heart of my own control patterns, and the unexpected experience that finally helped me soften, surrender, and trust myself in a deeper way.

Together, we'll dive into it:

  • The hidden link between perfectionism, anxiety, food obsession, and the need to control
  • How your nervous system decides what feels “safe” and why it resists change
  • Why you default to micromanaging food, your body, or your routine
  • The breathwork moment that cracked something open for me
  • Small, low-stakes ways to practice letting go in everyday life

Letting go isn’t one dramatic leap.

It’s a series of tiny releases.

And those small shifts slowly rewrite everything.

I hope this episode brings you the permission, compassion, and practical tools you’ve been needing.

If it resonates, send it to someone who also lives in “hyper-vigilant, must-hold-it-all-together” mode. They’ll feel so seen.
