What if homeschool is also about learning how to navigate the world? I think many families are starting to realize this.

Sure, there is much to gain from curriculum, but kids are so open to learning and we can open the world to them by being intentional about teaching them life skills.

Most of us went to school and our days were filled up for all of those formative years. And then, poof...we were expected to navigate the real world. I remember feeling lost in so many areas because I hadn't been fully prepared for life out on my own.

But, as homeschool parents, we can use these years and the time we have with our children at home to teach them the ins and outs of of life.

I've got a jam-packed episode for you today. Grab a pen and paper and get ready to take some quick notes!

Today's episode is going to bless your socks off! I had the amazing privilege to sit down and chat with Laura Hernandez of Mama Systems.

She is a homeschooling mom of 10 children, which includes some children with special needs. The grace and understanding that she bestows upon moms in this episode is life-giving.

We dive in deep and it gets quite personal and raw. You'll hear how she makes decisions for each of her children every year, how she gets to the other side of mom guilt, keeps up with the most important tasks of the day, and shares how others can come alongside families with special needs children.

Enjoy this sweet conversation.

We're going here today. This is definitely jumping into the deep end, but conversations like this need to happen.

And my hope is that today's episode gives you some perspective and direction for your own research. Follow that up with a conversation with your husband so the two of you are in agreement. Then move forward in your decision.

I may have to run and hide after this episode {kidding!} but my opinion and perspective comes from many years of homeschooling and it has served my family well. I hope that it either helps confirm your conviction or gives you a different view on this topic.

I'm cutting straight to the chase today with the intention of solidifying your homeschool decision. I hope it inspires and encourages you...and maybe lights a little fire under you too!

One of the reasons many of us homeschool is so that we can instill our Christian faith into our children. Oftentimes, we get busy with all that is on our to-do list, activities, and keeping up with the curriculum. And we lose that focus.

After raising children to their young adult years, I found some simple, yet very effective ways to incorporate faith into our daily lives. Today, I’m sharing these 5 tips so that you can make this a priority during these years of home education.

Hey, Friend!

This is a tricky one, right? Your homeschool child doesn’t see you as their teacher and “just” their mom. How do you get over that hurdle so that home education is a success?

From my studies of the school system and what exactly is meant by teacher, teaching, education, and mom, I’m not going to hold back in breaking this down. But, on the flip side, there are a few very practical steps you can take to turn this concern around.

The goal is you and your child thriving in your homeschool lifestyle and it may be hard to see that right now, but listen in, begin to take the steps shared about, and watch things begin to change.

I am so excited for your family to make this shift and see it for what it is. And then find your way on the other side of the mom vs. teacher debate!

But I found there were a few key ways of thinking about friendships and then being intentional as a parent to pursue those was crucial. My kids and your kids can thrive during their homeschool years when it comes to friends.

Hey, Friend!

Crazy rushed homeschool mornings. You know exactly what that looks like. And even moreso how it makes you feel.

What if there was one simple solution that you could start implementing now that will help end the frantic feeling you have each morning. Let’s cut out the stress and those bad mom moments you regret.

After all my years of motherhood, this is one thing I rarely skip doing because I have found that it works. And if something is giving me peace and a calm home in the morning, you better believe that I’ll keep doing it.

I want the same for you. Grab that pen and paper to take some notes, give this a listen, and then start coming up with your plan! I’m excited for you to reclaim your mornings.

♥ Leigh
