Kathy grew up attending Catholic schools while frequently moving with her family, which led her to feel like she never quite fit in as the "new kid" in town. This feeling persisted as she navigated the challenges of building a career and raising her children. Life was never easy, before, during, or after her Near-Death Experience (NDE). In 1999, Kathy became critically ill with a deadly flu that left her hospitalized, placed on a ventilator, and in an induced coma for three weeks while she fought for her life. The doctors told her that the coma-inducing medications would put her into a deep sleep with no memories of the experience. However, her experience was anything but forgettable.
