| Meet the dirtiest cops in NYC history. Michael Dowd and his crew stole money and dealt drugs while patrolling the streets of 1980s Brooklyn. Please excuse my voice I was battling a vicious cold. | 22 Feb 2016 | 00:49:27 | |
In the 1980s, Brooklyn, New York was considered crack capital of the world. Mike Dowd worked the 75th precinct in the East New York neighborhood of Brooklyn, which was considered to be the most dangerous precinct in United States at the time. The 75th precinct had one of the highest murder rates in the country. Mike Dowd describes being under-appreciated for the amount of work he put in and hurting for money as the reasons for taking money from drug dealers. He initially began taking bribes from drug dealers on the streets before moving on to protecting a drug cartel leader and robbing from other drug dealers at gunpoint. Mike and his then-partner Chickie recount the first time walking into a domestic dispute in an apartment and seeing bags of marijuana, a duffle bag filled with approximately $20,000 in cash and two guns. Mike communicated that he and his partner would take the duffle bag and guns. Mike continued to rob drug dealers for thousands of dollars. Mike's partner Chickie resigned shortly after multiple police officers were arrested in the 77th precinct for corruption related offenses.
Ken Eurell, a police officer at the 75th precinct, was then assigned as officer Dowd's new partner in June 1987. Ken had a drinking problem and frequently drank on the job. Officers Dowd and Eurell met a Dominican gang leader by the name of Adam Diaz. Diaz ran The Diaz Organization, a gang that was responsible for countless murders and drug trafficking throughout New York. Diaz used several supermarkets in East New York as fronts to traffic drugs, mainly cocaine. Dowd and Eurell began a working relationship with Diaz, where they provided protection, inside information and raids and moving kilos of cocaine.
After numerous complaints and a prolonged investigation, the Suffolk County Police Department arrested Dowd and Eurell on drug trafficking charges. Dowd and Kenny came out on bail. While out on bail, Dowd concocted a plan with the Colombian gang to kidnap and rob a woman. Dowd's plan was to hand the woman over to the Colombians and for Dowd and Eurell to take the money and flee the United States. Eurell agreed to Dowd's kidnapping scheme but instead went to Internal Affairs. Shortly after, Dowd was arrested in July 1991 and sent to trial. Dowd was the main focus of the 1992 Mollen Commission that investigated police corruption in the NYPD.[4] In the wake of Dowd's arrest, Mayor Dinkins appointed The Mollen Commission to investigate police corruption within the NYPD, as a result dozens of officers across the city’s precincts were arrested.

| Why I jumped – How far can Postpartum depression push a women? | 03 Feb 2016 | 00:50:05 | |
On July 19, 2004, an amazing story, accompanied by incredible video footage, broke across network and cable news programs. After a high-speed chase to the top of Leo Frigo Memorial Bridge in Green Bay, Wisconsin, a young woman stopped, calmly stepped out of her car, walked to the edge of the bridge--and jumped. State trooper Les Boldt raced over, thrust out his hand, and in a miracle of timing and determination, snagged the woman's wrist as she started the plunge. Other officers ran to his aid, and they pulled the woman to safety while the on-dash police cam captured the action. That woman on the edge was Tina Zahn. This interview gives a glimpse of what led to such severe depression that suicide seemed the only answer.

In 1981, Warshaw went to work for Atari after an short unchallenging time at Hewlett-Packard. His first success, Yars' Revenge, became extremely popular and is still regarded as one of the best games made for the Atari 2600. This led Warshaw to be picked as the designer of the game adaptation of the film Raiders of the Lost Ark, which was also a commercial success and was critically acclaimed at the time. It was his success on Raiders that led to Warshaw being chosen to design and program the ill-fated Atari 2600 adaptation of E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. Problems began early as he was only given five weeks to go from concept to finished product. Warshaw was assisted by Jerome Domurat, a graphics designer at Atari. Although the game was finished on time, it was poorly received and seen as being confusing and frustrating. Atari took a major financial loss on the project which, combined with other poor business decisions and conditions, led to the company being divided and sold within two years. During this time, Warshaw developed and almost finished another game called Saboteur. He left the company before it was completed. It was then re-adapted into a game based on the television series The A-Team but this also remained unfinished. Atari was dismantled before either version could be released. In the 2014 movie, The Rise and Fall of Atari, Warshaw is quoted as saying that all his games sold over 1 million copies.

Their intensive drug raid had the pusher cornered, barricaded behind the other side of a locked door. Mike Chitwood called on him to surrender. Suddenly a shot exploded through the door, hitting Chitwood s partner, who fell seriously injured into his arms. Then a second shot rang out, narrowly missing Chitwood s head. Enraged, he grabbed a sledgehammer to break down the door as the pusher fired two more shots. Surrounded now by three narcotics officers, the pusher threw out his gun and emerged, but he was holding a baby as a shield. Suppressing the instinct to rub out the scumbag, Chitwood gritted his teeth and took him in. Suppose his shot had killed the child? Thinking it through changed Chitwood s life.
Follow Mike Chitwood as he becomes the most decorated officer in Philadelphia police history, defying death in critical hostage negotiations and emerging as a key figure in an international high-profile case he found the body of Ira Einhorn s former girlfriend, Holly Maddux. Chitwood went on to a compelling career, heading police departments in three very different localities. He is still fighting crime today after half a century in law enforcement. | Sex Addiction – Actual Addiction or B.S. Excuse – You Decide | 05 Dec 2012 | 00:57:45 | |
Straight from the DSM Psychiatric Handbook -
The American Psychiatric Association publishes and periodically updates the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), a widely recognized compendium of acknowledged mental disorders and their diagnostic criteria.
The version published in 1987 (DSM-III-R), referred to "distress about a pattern of repeated sexual conquests or other forms of nonparaphilic sexual addiction, involving a succession of people who exist only as things to be used."[20] The reference to sexual addiction was subsequently removed.[21] The current version, published in 2000 (DSM-IV-TR), no longer mentions sexual addiction as a mental disorder.[22] The DSM-IV-TR still includes a miscellaneous diagnosis called Sexual Disorders Not Otherwise Specified, which now includes: "distress about a pattern of repeated sexual relationships involving a succession of lovers who are experienced by the individual only as things to be used." (Other examples include: compulsive fixation on an unattainable partner, compulsive masturbation, compulsive love relationships, and compulsive sexuality in a relationship.)[22] Even this still-present diagnostic definition does not mention sexual addiction, but focuses on the patient's distress as to their sexual behavior (contrary to the pattern of denial in addiction as mentioned below), not on the sexual behavior itself.
Hypersexuality, by itself, can also be a symptom of hypomania and mania in bipolar disorder and schizoaffective disorder, as defined in the DSM-IV-R.
