Leeuwin Metals IPO - with Chris Piggott and Scott Williamson 11 Aug 202300:44:27
Today is the official IPO listing of Leeuwin Metals (ASX:LM1) and to give us the spiel about this exciting new Nickel and Lithium explorer we’ve got the Managing Director Chris Piggott, alongside Non-Executive Director Scotty Williamson. You may also know as the Managing Director at fellow Nickel explorer and project developer, Blackstone Minerals (ASX:BSX). Chris has a very impressive CV and track record of being involved in some significant discoveries, namely the lodes that helped Bellevue Gold define + 3moz and also the Nova/Bollinger deposit (now operated by IGO). Leeuwin’s flagship asset is the William Lake Nickel project, located in the Manitoba province of Canada. This project has a decent opportunity for a large scale Nickel Sulphide project. There is already circa 90,000m of exploration drilling already in the ground, which is a replacement cost of circa $C355. The data from this shows Nickel intersections varying from 200m to +700m downhole, with high Nickel grades in addition to the presence of PGE’s. Chris has some decent skin in the game, being the top shareholder so he is heavily aligned with Leeuwin becoming a successful explorer. They’re trading on the ASX now, check out LM1 and enjoy my chat with Chris Piggott and Scotty Williamson.   **Check out the Leeuwin Metals website for further information**   If you would like your company to be a part of Life Of Mine, get in touch with me via matt@lifeofminepodcast.com   ***DISCLAIMER***   All Life Of Mine episodes are for information only and may contain forward looking statements that may not eventuate. ENTECH LEGENDS: Tony Sime - his Airleg days 30 May 202300:41:16
*** Sign up for online JUMBO TRAINING at https://lifeofminepodcast.com/members-podcasts/ ***   Welcome to another ENTECH LEGENDS episode, proudly supported by our great friends at Entech Mining. Hit them up for anything in the fields of Mining Engineering, Resource Geology, Geotechnical and Ventilation (best in the game). Get in touch with them at https://entechmining.com.au/ and also give them a follow on Linkedin at https://www.linkedin.com/company/entech-pty-ltd/.   Now the LEGENDS series has always been a popular one. I’ve been working on this bloke for 4 years and whether its out of guilt or curiosity, I’ve finally got him. My old boss, one of my biggest mentors and well-known figure in WA Mining, Mr Tony Sime.   Now as per usual, we yarned for about 2.5 hrs so I’ve split it up into 3 episodes. In this part 1, we go through how Simesy got into Mining and him getting on the airleg at a very young age. In these early years, he worked in and around Kambalda, Leinster, Laverton and Norseman (I probably missed some there). We also go into his victories in the rock drill comps, Simesy claims he invented the technique that Bub Butler uses when carrying the airleg back (Bub reckons he invented it so the jury is out).

Should we be like the All-Blacks regarding Safety? – with Adam Turns 05 Jul 2022

Well this topic can only be described as “controversial” and “head turning” (FYI I agree with the controversial viewpoint)

Adam Turns from Symplexi recently presented at the AUSIMM Minesafe International conference, regarding “A Higher Standard Of Safety”. His topics and viewpoint pose the question “are we looking at safety in the complete opposite way to what we should be?”

Turnsy has been busy studying high performance Coaches and Organisations in regard to what makes them so successful. The guru’s he has taken a liking to have worked alongside successful organisations such as the New Zealand All-Black, Seattle Seahawks, Red Bull and many others. These individuals are:

  • Dr Michael Gervais
  • Owen Eastwood
  • Ray Dalio
  • Trevor Moawad

Safety in the Mining industry is currently driven by Procedures (shitloads of them), Management and Executives. The general consensus of Turnsy’s research is that Culture and Standards in highly successful organisations (e.g. the All-Blacks), are driven by players and workforces (not the bosses). This BOTTOM-UP idea is a complete 180 compared to how we currently do things. So if such a framework can work everywhere else in the world, why can’t it work in Mining?

If you would like to get into contact with Adam Turns about this topic or to get him onto your mine site, email him at adam@symplexi.com.au or alternatively message him on Linkedin via his profile ADAM TURNS

As I could not attend the meeting, I sent him a mash up of funny endorsements from people on site (had a to pay some of them). I thought we’d bring some humour to the event, big boss got a laugh so all good. Enjoy.
