226: What You Need to Know if You’re Thinking About Publishing Your Book, with Hannah Kates: Fan Favorite Replay10 Sep 202400:20:59

Let’s talk about publishing.

For any book, there is so much that goes on behind the scenes to put those books in the hands of the readers. I got a firsthand look at it while I was working on publishing my book, Take the Lead.

In this replay episode of Leading Lady, I sat down with Hannah Kates, the CEO and chief editor at Lofthouse Publishing. She is my editor and dear friend and the whole reason that my book, Take The Lead, even made it out into the world.

Hannah is passionate about empowering others with publishing in an ethical way. There’s a huge need for better publishing and she is doing what she can to improve it as much as possible.

There’s an impact that needs to be made with publishing. We need to stop looking at books as the product. The product is so much more than that. At Lofthouse Publishing, they strive to publish books that you don’t just read and then put down. They publish books that take you on a journey and change you forever.

Everyone has a story, and your story is valid. Tune in to learn more about Lofthouse Publishing and what you need to know if you are thinking about publishing your book.

225: Rejection Does Not Define You; Lessons Learned From Sorority Recruitment: Fan Favorite Replay03 Sep 202400:19:46

In this episode of Leading Lady, I want to share my experience with my daughter who went through sorority recruitment, or rush, as a freshman in college.

People feel pretty passionately about sororities. Some feel it’s archaic and toxic, some think it’s a wonderful experience and really appreciate the community and the opportunities that being in a sorority presents.

My experience with this whole process was a bit of a culture shock, to be honest. However, it’s important to remember that everyone’s experience is unique to them. There is no right or wrong blanket statement when it comes to sororities.

My daughter and I both learned a lot from this experience. One of the biggest takeaways from this is that no one likes rejection, but it is a very real part of life.

As much as rejection hurts, we have to recognize that it’s not our place to determine if we are the right fit for someone else. We should instead focus on looking for situations where we are wanted, celebrated, and accepted.

Tune in to learn more about our experience with the sorority recruitment process and what we learned from rejection.

126: Secrets to Finding Joy and Creating Your Own Path to Success with Beth Nolan: A Fan Favorite Replay26 Jul 202200:31:43

Is your work aligned with your joy?

It is so important that we stand in our authenticity and do the work that lights us up.

In this episode of the Leading Lady podcast, I am chatting with Beth Nolan about finding your joy, creating your own path to success, and building a business that fits the needs of your family.

Beth knows a thing or two about finding success in the work you love. She used her knowledge of the education system and created her own business, Education Team Allies, to ensure that children are receiving the educational support necessary to meet their goals.

Since 1999, Beth has worked in a variety of roles within the educational arena. During this time, her passion for ensuring that all children have access to educational environments that meet their unique learning needs has gained greater depth.

She has so much knowledge to share about how you can be in alignment with your authenticity and find joy in the work you do which is why this is a fan favorite episode! Her message is worth soaking in again, so tune in even if you’ve heard this conversation before!!

125: Don't Call Me a Mompreneur19 Jul 202200:19:01

Are you a working mom?

In today’s episode of Leading Lady, I’m talking about the unique challenges and circumstances I have faced as a working mom myself. Before you think that this episode is about how much harder it is being a working mom than it is for other women in business, I want to say that I have tried very hard not to tie up my identity in motherhood.

I believe that we are unique and whole just as women alone. Our roles as moms and entrepreneurs are just other facets of us.

This is why I am not a fan of words like mompreneur and mom boss. They get under my skin because my husband has never been called a dadpreneur or a dad boss. In general, men don’t lead with parenthood as their identifier.

I’m not going to debate who has it harder in this episode, glorify working moms, or minimize women building careers without children. The purpose of this episode is simply to share that yes, I am a mom, I do run my own businesses alongside raising my family, and it does present some challenges.

If you are a mom and you want to feel validated, seen, heard, or just get some tips on how to balance it all, make sure to tune in to this episode.

124: How Exercise Can Empower You with Tara De Leon: A Fan Favorite Replay12 Jul 202200:29:56

Prioritizing exercise isn’t easy especially when it is viewed as a punishment rather than a celebration. Do you agree?

Sometimes we forget about all of the things that our bodies are capable of because we are so caught up in a meal that we ate, fitting into a certain size, or wishing we had a toned stomach.

One thing I have learned over the years is that this mindset does not allow anyone to see their body for what it is - powerful, beautiful, and worth celebrating. Whether you enjoy 20-minute walks or lifting heavy weights, moving your body should always be empowering.

In this episode, I am chatting with my personal trainer Tara De Leon about the importance of exercise - no matter how you choose to move your body. This is one of the most listened-to episodes ever on the podcast, so I decided it was time to bring it back—especially because this message is worth repeating.

Tara De Leon has over 18 years of experience in the fitness industry. She has done everything from teaching water aerobics to personal training to even being a collegiate strength coach. As the Personal Training Coordinator at Edgewater Fitness, Tara helps women be confident and badass by teaching them to lift heavy weights. Outside of the gym, Tara loves to spend time with her husband Marcus, adorable newborn baby boy, Maverick, and Aussie pup, Chula.

Whether this will be your first time hearing this episode or you have heard it before, I want you to remember this important lesson from it: find what works for you and give yourself grace. Tune in to learn how to do that from Tara De Leon.

You should always prioritize whatever makes you look and feel your best. However, I get many questions about how to amplify your look and confidence and look more polished as a professional woman.

In this episode of Leading Lady, I am sharing my top tips for how you can look and feel more “put together” in your professional life. These small tips and tricks have worked for me to help me feel more polished because believe it or not, I’m not a high-maintenance girl, I like to keep things as simple and effortless as possible.

I am by no means trying to tell you how to dress or look in this episode, but I just want to share some tips if this is the kind of thing you are looking for.

You don’t have to follow the trends to look amazing. By keeping your look simple and polished, you will have a lot less stress and you will feel more confident and prepared to show up anywhere because you will have your go-to style and essentials ready to go.

Tune in to hear my favorite ways to create a simple and polished look that will make you look and feel amazing every day.

122: 6 Key Components of a Successful L.E.A.D.E.R.28 Jun 202200:16:19

What does it take to be a leader?

If you have been following me for a while, you know that I always say “take the lead, and the rest will follow.” If you have air in your lungs, you are a leader. But how do you take the lead in your life?

In this episode of Leading Lady, I am breaking down the word LEADER, and how I use that word in many areas of my coaching.

In my business and leadership masterclass, the word “leader” is broken down into six different modules. My book, TAKE THE LEAD, also follows the acronym L.E.A.D.E.R.: Learner’s mindset, Engagement, Authenticity, Dedication, Emotional Intelligence, and Resilience. I am breaking down what each of these means to me in my business and also giving you some tidbits so you can start thinking about how you are showing up as a leader in your life throughout this episode.

It all starts with self-leadership. How are you leading yourself? Others? Your family? Your business? These are all incredibly important aspects of your life, and I want you to be able to show up and be the leader you have always wanted to be.

Every letter and every aspect of the L.E.A.D.E.R. acronym is equally important. They all blend and work together to help you grow as a leader. Tune in to learn more about the six pieces of leadership and how they can help you step into the leadership role in your life.

120: How To Grow Your Business By Working Smarter, Not Harder14 Jun 202200:15:58
When you first start your business, it’s so exciting! You have so much passion for your work, so the beginning phase is just magical, isn’t it?

Sometimes, though, we end up in denial about how much work has to be done. With any business, there are going to be things that just aren’t fun and that you don’t love to do.

Getting the not-so-fun things done at the start will make your work easier because you will have the structure, discipline, and procedures in place that will keep everything running smoothly.

By doing the hard work now, you can do the smart work going forward in your business. In this episode of Leading Lady, I’m sharing my top tips for working smarter so that you can grow and scale your business without working harder.

It’s hard to implement a work-life balance once your business is up and running, but by creating boundaries for how you’re going to work and how you’re going to structure your business in a way that works for your life and then honoring that, you are setting yourself up for success down the road as your business grows.

Tune in to learn about these tips and so much more!

119: How to Cultivate Healthy Relationships with Yourself and with Others with Samantha Heuwagen: A Fan Favorite Replay07 Jun 202200:32:40

Today's episode was such a fan favorite, I decided to bring it back because it was that good! Enjoy---

How can you love others without loving yourself first?

The answer is simple: you can’t!

We have to have really solid foundations with ourselves in order to be able to articulate what our needs are with another person.

My guest in this episode, Samantha Heuwagen, is here to talk to us all about this and how to cultivate healthy relationships with ourselves and with others.

Samantha Heuwagen is a Latinx marriage and family therapist and best-selling author in the Metro Atlanta area. When not working with clients, she sparks discussion about mental health with the goal to spread awareness across the United States and beyond by challenging the popular discourse surrounding mental illness and making it more inclusive.

We get into what the foundation of a healthy relationship consists of, why you need to love yourself first, how to define what your goals are for yourself and your relationships, what it means to be authentic in a relationship, and so much more.

This was such an honest and empowering conversation and I got so much amazing feedback the first time this episode was aired, I knew I had to bring it back for another listen!

118: What You Should Know Before Hiring a Coach31 May 202200:15:11
Have you ever thought about hiring a business coach?

I talk to so many women on discovery calls who are trying to decide if hiring a coach is the right move for them. The decision to hire a business coach or life coach is a big one, so you don’t want to go into this decision without doing your research and knowing what exactly you need and what to look for.

I am a firm believer that everyone needs a therapist and everyone needs a coach. These are two very different things that will help you in different areas of your life. In this episode of Leading Lady, I’m sharing everything you need to know before you hire your first coach.

Not all coaching is equal, and I want you to have the best experience possible.

117: Tips for Scheduling Time off as a High-Achieving Business Owner24 May 202200:13:30

We all need a break sometimes.

You may have noticed that I didn’t release a new episode last week. While I don’t plan to make a habit of that, it was much needed. Life has been full of a lot of transitions for my family lately and there has been a lot going on with my business, so I was at my max.

With that said, in this week's episode of The Leading Lady Podcast, I am talking about the importance of taking a break. You don’t need to wait for an opening to get a break or a “good time” to take a vacation, you can schedule these breaks or vacations into your life whenever you need them.

I know it can seem impossible to do because, as entrepreneurs and high-achieving women, we are never away or cut off from our businesses, and we are the decision-makers so it’s hard to step away like that, but what you need to do is plan ahead so that you can take a successful break.

Tune in to learn more about my top tips for getting the rest and rejuvenation you need.

116: Does Your Branding Match Your Brand? with Lena Gosik-Wolfe03 May 202200:26:42

What does your branding say about you?

Your brand is bigger than branding. It’s so common for us to not see the flaws in what we have currently because we are so close to our businesses. This can make it hard to see from someone else’s shoes, but you have to look at the bigger picture.

Your brand is your unique story, but your branding is for your audience. In this episode of Leading Lady, I sat down with one of my Leading Lady ambassadors, Lena Gosik-Wolfe to talk about how you can create a brand that stands out and connects you with your audience.

Lena of Lena Designs Studio is a dynamic designer and dot-connecting visionary who is able to bring high-level artistic strategy to brand design. As a brand strategist, she’s helping female-owned online businesses all over the world make more money by crafting a unique, beautiful, purposeful design that elevates them beyond a business and into a true brand.

When she’s not serving her clients, you can find her spending time with her husband & rescue animals, or tending her succulent garden.

When people see the passion and love for your business, it actually inspires them to work with you! You don’t need to hide behind the computer or a brand that doesn’t suit you. Your branding should represent you and your business in a way that makes you proud to show it off.

Tune in today to learn more from Lena about how the perfect branding can impact your business!

115: How To Keep Your Business Going While Grieving26 Apr 202200:16:33
I’m going to be honest, this episode is a hard one.

I haven’t recorded anything in a few weeks because I have been grieving. Two weeks ago, I lost my 11-year-old English Setter, Millie. If you know me or have been following me for a while, you know that my dog was a huge part of my life. I’ve had her since she was 9 weeks old and she has pretty much been my shadow since day one. I never could have imagined that the grief of losing her would be this great.

You guys know that it’s always my goal to always show up in a real and authentic way, so I wanted to share this incredibly difficult story with you to show you where I have been the last couple of weeks.

So in today’s episode of Leading Lady, I wanted to share my best advice for continuing to move forward and work on your business when you are in the midst of grief. The only constant in life is that everything is forever moving and changing and every day is a gift. Each day may present new challenges that we didn’t expect but we have to keep moving forward.

Gratitude is a powerful tool that we should all be using more. It feels good, heals the heart, and fills the soul. It’s so important that you allow yourself to be sad and feel that grief because you need it in order to move forward.

Tune in to hear more about processing your grief in a way that still moves you forward in your business.

114: THINK: What This Acronym Means & Why You Should Be Using It Daily19 Apr 202200:15:21

How do you show up in the world?

I have worked in the education realm for over 20 years and something that we teachers absolutely love is acronyms! We have one for everything.

In this episode of Leading Lady, I am sharing with you one of my favorite acronyms ever because it has helped me so much, and I really think it will help you too. I have used it daily for the last several years, and it has made a true difference in my life.

The acronym is THINK. With this acronym, I want you to think about how you show up in the world. How do you show up as a leader, as a business owner, as a woman, or as a mother?

As high-achieving women, we have to use our voices in our leadership roles. Whether it’s leading our family, our business, a boardroom, or just ourselves, use the THINK acronym and ask yourself if the things you’re saying are aligned with how you want to show up.

Tune in to hear what this acronym stands for, how it has helped me, ways to apply it to all aspects of your life, and how it can help you become the type of woman or leader that you have always wanted to be.

Let’s talk about the power of saying no.

By that I mean sometimes when we say “no”, we are actually saying “yes”. Now I know what you may be thinking- no means no, right? I get that!

By saying no to something, you are often saying yes to something else. In this week’s episode of Leading Lady, I am diving into why saying no to what doesn’t light you up means saying yes to the things that matter.

Oftentimes when I am working with clients, setting boundaries, both personal and professional, is something that they really want to work on. They want to achieve the highly sought-after work-life balance and find more time for their passions, and they know that setting boundaries is the key to making that happen.

Some people just struggle to say no to things that don’t feel right for them. But when you say yes to that thing, what are you actually saying no to? Are you saying no to the time and freedom to do the things that really light you up and fuel your fire?

In order to be your best, most authentic self, you have to prioritize things that align with your mission, vision, and values. That means being careful about what you say yes to so that you can prioritize the things that are truly important to you and your business.

Tune in to this episode to learn more about why it is so important to prioritize the things that truly light you up and learn to say no to the things that don’t.

Do you suffer from pelvic floor dysfunction? It can look like stress incontinence, painful sex, or abdominal separation, and it can be an embarrassing problem to talk about. Many people assume this is normal at a certain point in their life, but it is not.

When left untreated, it can lead to a disconnection from your sexual self, and this can cause serious isolation and anxiety. Your sensuality and sexuality as a woman is one of your superpowers, and you don’t have to just accept that it’s gone.

110: Take the Lead: The Journey to Writing and Publishing My First Book22 Mar 202200:14:31

My book, Take The Lead,  is now available for purchase!

In this episode of Leading Lady, I am sharing how my book came to be. This project is something I have been working on for quite some time now. To be honest, it is probably one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do but also the most rewarding.

I remember the day I decided that I wanted to start a book. It was years ago and after a long journey, it is so exciting to finally be here now.

Writing a book about your life and experiences can be a little scary. As I started to put my stories onto paper, I learned that it is a lot more complex than I had even imagined. I knew I had a book inside of me, but it took a lot of effort to put it all together.

I teamed up with my dear friend, Hannah, who is very well versed in the process of creating a book, and she was a huge help to me with making this happen. Thanks to her expertise, I was able to turn it into something that I am truly proud of.

I hope that you are able to get a copy and see that I poured my heart and soul into writing this book. It is raw, vulnerable, and honestly, very cathartic. It deepened my own understanding of myself and why I do what I do.

Make sure to tune in to this episode to learn more about how this book came to be, how this led to us starting Lofthouse Publishing, what you can expect from my book and more.

109: How to Shift Your Focus From Weight to Wellbeing with Elizabeth Harris15 Mar 202200:23:29

Have you ever felt discouraged by dieting?

Many of us have been there. We are unhappy with the number on the scale so we start restricting and dieting in hopes that we will reach that magical number that will make us feel happy and worthy.

Diets detract from our health and wellbeing in a different way. Instead of being fully present and in the moment with our loved ones, we are in our heads worrying about our diet. There’s a lot of negativity and guilt that comes with that and it makes it hard to just enjoy your life.

In todays’ episode of Leading Lady, I sat down with Elizabeth Harris to talk more about the harmful aspects of dieting and the impact of intuitive eating.

Elizabeth Harris is a dietitian and Intuitive Eating counselor. She’s passionate about empowering women to find food and body peace with Intuitive Eating and body image healing.

By shifting the focus weight to wellbeing, Elizabeth helps women stop dieting and start living. Her motto is “self-care, not self-control.” Because food is meant to be enjoyed, movement should make you happy, and we’ve all got better things to do than count carbs!

Elizabeth holds a Master’s degree in nutrition from the University of Southern California. She loves to hike, garden, read, and travel the world—hitting every farmers’ market along the way.

Don’t accept the premise that weight equals health! That is all diet culture trying to tell you that you need to be a certain way but that’s not what’s important.

We all have difficult body image days, it's totally normal. It’s what you do with those days that’s important. Make sure to tune in to this episode to learn more about why dieting doesn’t work, why focusing on intuitive eating is biologically and psychologically healthier, the benefits of being weight-neutral, and so much more.

107: How to Embrace Your Faith and Trust God’s Plan as a Woman in Business with Erin Harrigan01 Mar 202200:18:51

Is your business aligned with your faith? It can be a little scary and vulnerable to be so open about your faith as a woman in business.

In this episode of the Leading Lady podcast, I sat down with Erin Harrigan to talk about how God has a different definition of success and he is waiting for us to embrace it and align with his assignment.

Erin Harrigan is a Christian wife, mom, and international coach/speaker, helping women tune out the world, tune into God's truth and turn up focus to redefine hustle & pursue success in God's way.

It’s easy to get discouraged and feel like you aren’t successful because your life just isn’t perfect like what you see on social media. It’s important to remember that no one is perfect. What you see online is just a highlight. Everyone has their own struggles and difficulties that many of us will never see.

We shine when we embrace those perfect imperfections so that we can step into our faith and align ourselves with God’s plan. To do this, you have to let go. Let go of your idea of success and let God lead you to where you need to be. It can be scary to surrender control, but it is truly amazing what happens when you do.

Exciting news! I’m in a new book!

In this episode of the Leading Lady podcast, I thought I’d share my chapter in the new book Hot Mess to Hot Mom by Tara De Leon. My chapter is called “Marriage, Baby, and Business, Oh My: Navigating a good opportunity with seemingly bad timing.”

Topics covered in this episode include:

  • When to say yes to unexpected opportunities

  • How I learned the hard way that we don’t always control the timing of our lives

  • A tool to use when you’re at the crossroads of a good opportunity and bad timing

106: Simple Choices Make a Big Difference: How To Become More Eco-Friendly with Crystal DiMiceli22 Feb 202200:15:40

You don’t have to upend your life to make animal and environmentally friendly choices.

Topics like climate change and deforestation can be really overwhelming to think about. After all, how much of a difference can one person really make? The truth is, we need everyone’s effort. Taking steps to be more environmentally friendly will make an impact. Every small action adds up to big changes.

In this episode of the Leading Lady podcast, Crystal DiMiceli joined me to talk about how we can make a difference in our environment even with the tiniest of changes.

Crystal was that little girl who loved animals and brought home strays whenever her parents would allow it (that may still be her M.O.!). She was that teenager who watched a show about pollution and vowed to stop it when she grew up. But, she’s also that woman that loves to travel to far-off places on fossil fuel-guzzling airplanes while wearing leather shoes.

She may not be the perfect example of how to do eco- and animal-friendly 100% “right”, but she makes every effort possible. She does her research, makes conscious choices, and listens to both sides of the aisle. She wants to bring attention to the good things that are happening so that we can elevate and scale up these acts so that they, ideally, become the norm. She understands that nothing is black and white, there are many shades of grey. Although, she prefers to say many shades of green.

You don’t have to be perfect to be environmentally conscious. It all starts with one small change. We are so much more powerful than you may think, especially together. Make sure to tune in to learn how you can start making more environmentally conscious decisions in your life today.

Is your business online?

I know many business owners drag their feet about getting online. It’s a huge commitment, but the truth is you need to be online if you want your business to thrive.

104: How to Grow Your Emotional Intelligence to Become a Better Leader08 Feb 202200:15:05

Let’s talk about emotional intelligence.

In the Leading Ladies masterclass, we follow the acronym L.E.A.D.E.R. These letters stand for the top components that I believe make up the best leaders. There’s the learner's mindset, engagement, authenticity, dedication to purpose and mission, emotional intelligence, and resilience.

In this episode of The Leading Lady podcast, I wanted to talk to you about emotional intelligence. Many people think that this means that you understand your emotions or you are able to read the emotions of others. However, when I discuss it with my masterclass, I like to go a little deeper.

How does this relate to business? It’s actually extremely vital in business because to be good leaders we have to be aware of our triggers, our feelings, and know the difference between angry, sad, or nervous.

103: How to Show Up Consistently and Authentically in Your Business01 Feb 202200:16:58

Let’s talk about consistency!

In business, it is so important that you show up consistently. This is one of the most important factors of success, but how do you choose what platform to be consistent on? There are many to choose from, but you don’t have to be on them all if that doesn't feel right to you.

For me, it’s all about the platform that I feel most comfortable on. This is important for me to feel like my most authentic self. It’s easy to get lost in all of the latest social media trends and feel overwhelmed with trying to keep up with it all.

The truth is, if you try to show up on all of these platforms that you don’t normally spend your time on, it’s just not going to feel good to you, and it’s hard to stay consistent with something that doesn’t feel good.

If dancing in Reels or on TikTok doesn’t feel right, then don’t! There are no rules for what you do and don’t have to do to be successful in your business. You are in charge of your business choices.

Tune in to this episode of Leading Lady to hear more about how to find the right platform for your business, how to show up consistently, tips for choosing topics to share, and how to nurture your relationship with your audience.

This episode is packed with tips, you don’t want to miss it!

102: The Key to Entrepreneurial Success as Women: Business Besties25 Jan 202200:14:18

Do you have a business bestie?

A business bestie is someone you connect with professionally and you become each other's go-to person when it comes to business development and cheering each other on. You turn to each other for promoting, sharing, advice, and all things business.

If there’s anything I learned from my favorite movies and songs growing up, it’s that women need best friends. We  can all be very different but brilliant in our own ways, and when we come together, we can be an unstoppable force. As the old saying goes, having just one friend who is there for you no matter what is all you really need.

Entrepreneurship can be a lonely journey. There are so many highs and lows and it can be challenging when you are trying to power through it all alone. A business bestie can encourage you to chase dreams, share woes, celebrate wins, and be authentically you.

I am a firm believer that empowered women empower women and forming these friendships can benefit you both in so many ways. In this episode of Leading Lady, I am diving deep into the topic of business friendships and how you can be the best business bestie.

Tune in to learn more about the importance of finding your person and how to show up for each other in an authentic and supportive way.

96: How to Strengthen Your Pelvic Floor and Prioritize Self-Care to Live a More Balanced Life with Julie Blamphin14 Dec 202100:22:45

Do you prioritize self-care?

As women, many of us put the needs of everyone else first and often ignore our own needs, but it shouldn’t be that way! Self-care should be in the top spot on your list of priorities and it should never move.

An often neglected part of self-care is taking care of your pelvic floor. Did you know that 95% of women are struggling with some sort of pelvic floor dysfunction? That’s a lot! The pelvic floor is such an important part of our bodies, and we have to take care of it in order to stay healthy.

In today’s episode of Leading Lady, my good friend Julie Blamphin is back to talk to us about how we can start prioritizing our own self-care and strengthening our pelvic floor.

Julie Blamphin has taught yoga since she was 12 years old. Now she empowers women to enjoy leak-free laughter and pain-free sex by stabilizing the core and pelvic floor. She is passionate about using movement and laughter to release the taboo around pelvic floor instability - which she believes is the key to rediscovering your sexy joyful self.

Unlike other Yoga Teachers, Julie combines physical yoga poses with a laughter practice and emotional connection. She values vulnerability, courage, positivity, and feeling sexy at every stage of life. Julie loves to laugh, dance, garden, travel, and speak Spanish. She's a Pittsburgh Steelers football fan and currently lives in Annapolis Maryland USA.

Julie is always such a joy to talk with, and I know you will get so many great takeaways from this episode about how you can get started finding more balance in your life and strengthen your pelvic floor.

Don’t miss this one!

94: Creative Ways to Show Up on Social Media Even When You Don’t Feel Like It with Deanna Seymour30 Nov 202100:33:18

Are you using Instagram reels for your business yet?

As entrepreneurs, we know that we need to be showing up online. It’s great for our business to be present and active!

What if you don’t like to show your face on social media though? What if you hate the idea of showing yourself dancing around or doing the latest trend in order to gain some followers?

This is discouraging for anyone that isn’t comfortable putting themselves out there. In today’s episode of the Leading Lady podcast, I sat down with Deanna Seymour to talk about how you can still show up and grow your business on social media without showing yourself before you’re ready.

As the host of the Imperfect Party Podcast and Eff That: A Storytelling Series, an art educator for over a decade, and a lady always willing to try something new, Deanna Seymour knows the power of creativity, humor, and lettin' your freak flag fly.

Whether she’s hosting an online coworking sesh or helping a client get over their fear of being on camera, Deanna uses humor and empathy to build a community that helps people feel seen, heard, and ultimately more comfortable in their own skin so they can have more fun marketing their business.

When she’s not busy making GIFs, graphics or reels, she’s probably callin’ out sleazy marketing tactics, hangin’ with her fam, or sneaking in some crappy reality tv!

Deanna is an absolute joy to chat with! Make sure to tune in to hear all of her creative tips for growing your business on social media in a way that makes you feel good.

92: Tips for Redefining Hustle and Ditching Overwhelm with Erin Harrigan16 Nov 202100:24:32

In today’s society, we are all about the hustle. We are told over and over that in order to achieve success, we have to hustle day and night.

While this may be true in some instances, it’s not always the case. The truth is that overwhelm and overachievement are not requirements for business success.

In the latest episode of the Leading Lady podcast, I sat down with Erin Harrigan to talk about how to remember God’s purpose in your business and go forward with balance.

Erin Harrigan is a Christian wife, mom,  and speaker/coach who helps women tune out the world, tune into God's truth and turn up focus to redefine hustle and pursue success God's way.

The first step in doing this is getting clear on what your values are in your business and in your life and then growing your business with clarity, consistency, and commitment. Balance is a verb and this is how you can succeed without sacrificing your priorities.

I know you’re going to love this conversation with Erin, so tune in!

91: How to Ditch Toxic Positivity and Face Your Pain So That You Can Heal09 Nov 202100:17:47

In today’s society, we are often told to always try to see the positive in every situation. You’ve seen it before- “Good vibes only!”

Good vibes and positive thoughts are amazing when you’re in a good place, but when you are dealing with pain or trauma, it can feel heavy to try and be positive all the time. Because of this, you may even feel shame for those negative emotions.

In today’s episode of the Leading Lady Podcast, we are talking about toxic positivity and why it is okay to feel your emotions-good or bad.

It is important to recognize that we aren’t always going to be in a place where we are feeling our best, and that is okay. Avoiding the authentic feeling of pain or grief is dysfunction.

We can’t avoid our pain or trauma in the name of positivity. We have to process it, deal with it, and heal from it so that we can move on. Your pain doesn’t make you stronger, healing from it does.

Tune in to hear more about what toxic positivity is, how to stop comparing your pain to others, and the importance of facing your pain or trauma so you can finally heal.

Have you ever really paid attention to what the world is telling you about your body? If you look closely, you’ll see that it is, honestly, pretty toxic. There are industries making billions of dollars off of our insecurities, but they shouldn’t be! We are so much more than our bodies.

In this episode of the Leading Lady Podcast, I sat down with Elizabeth Harris to talk about how you can opt-out of diet culture and find food and body peace.

Elizabeth Harris, the owner of Elizabeth Harris Nutrition and Wellness, is a registered dietitian, certified Intuitive Eating counselor, and certified dietitian nutrition coach.  She is passionate about empowering women to find food and body peace with Intuitive Eating and body image healing.

By shifting the focus from losing weight to elevating wellbeing, Elizabeth helps women stop swinging between on-again, off-again approaches to food and health. She teaches them how to make all foods—and healthful habit building—fun again by showing them how to connect with, care for, and be kind to their bodies.

Her motto is “self-care, not self-control.” Because food is meant to be enjoyed, movement should make you happy, and we’ve all got better things to do than count carbs!

Make sure you tune in to hear how you can work on body acceptance and become the version of yourself that you truly want to be.

How confident are you that you set clear boundaries and expectations with your employees and clients?

Lately, I've been having a lot of conversations with my own clients about struggles that they're having either managing employees or managing projects that they're doing with clients. Usually, this is due to unclear boundaries and expectations.

Unclear boundaries and expectations can happen with both employees and clients, and this can cause a lot of frustration, confusion, and disappointment for everyone.

I want to stress the importance of having open conversations about the details of your agreements, contracts, job descriptions, and scopes of work from the very beginning to avoid this!
