EP162: The Timeless Wisdom of Virtuous Leadership17 Feb 202500:21:04

Leadership isn’t just about titles, results, or power—it’s about the human experience. In this episode, I explore the concept of virtuous leadership through the lens of an unexpected source: the Buddha. Inspired by an article by Dan Harris, I discuss ten timeless virtues of leadership—generosity, morality, self-sacrifice, honesty, gentleness, self-control, non-anger, non-violence, patience, and non-opposition—and how they remain relevant in today’s leadership landscape.

Join me as I break down how these principles can help leaders create impact, foster connection, and build cultures of trust, integrity, and inclusion. Plus, I challenge you to assess your own leadership through this lens. Are you embodying these virtues in your leadership?

EP161: Your Next Best Step: Why Coaching is the Key to Achieving Your Goals10 Feb 202500:19:37

As we settle into the year (or a new position or project), goals are typcally top of mind—both in organizations and personally. But setting goals is only the first step. Staying on track and actually achieving them? That’s where the real challenge lies.

In this episode, I break down why many people struggle with goal follow-through, the common roadblocks (hint: it's often internal), and how coaching can bridge the gap between intention and execution. I share real-world examples of how a coach provides clarity, accountability, and the mindset shifts necessary to achieve success.

Whether you’re a leader navigating team goals, a professional looking to grow, or someone who simply wants to make real progress this year, coaching could be the key you’ve been missing.

We talk about:
✨ Why lack of clarity derails goals
✨ The sneaky internal barriers that hold you back
✨ How coaching provides both strategy and mindset support
✨ Why accountability is essential for goal achievement

EP62: Medicine vs. Magic (in Leadership + Life)20 Mar 202300:24:15

One thing I know is that there is not a shortage of tools, strategies, philosphies, apps, or programs when it comes to elevating leadership skills, starting a business or making a career change.  We are fortunate to have so much knowledge at our finger tips!

So why is it that many of us are still stuck, still trying to become more effective, still having trouble being our best leadership selves?

The tools and strategies are the medicine.  They provide relief, a sense of progress and a way to maintain.

The magic, however, is when we dig a little deeper.  When we get to the root of what is really holding us back. When we elevate awareness and learn how to manage our minds.

It's tapping into that magic that will really create results.  Let's talk about it!

EP59: [Book Recap] Take-Aways from "Wolfpack"27 Feb 202300:35:38

I love hearing about other people's experiences and how they are shaped by them - especially when it comes to showing up as a leader.  This is why I coudn't wait to read Abby Wambach's book: "Wolfpack: How to Come Together, Unleash Our Power and Change the Game".

Abby, a New York Times bestselling author, two-time Olympic gold medalist and FIFA World Cup champion, based her book on her inspiring 2018 commencement speech to Barnard College’s graduates in New York City., New York - where she delivered her empowering rally cry for women to unleash their individual power, unite with their pack, and emerge victorious together.

In this episode - I share with you a recap and my biggest take-aways.

EP54: Making Decisions from the Future23 Jan 202300:12:12

We are making tiny and not-so-tiny decisions all of the time.  Some don't take much thought.  But then there are those that we see as "difficult".  We allow ourselves to stay stuck in the "I don't know".

One thing that makes a difference is WHERE we make the decision from.  We often make decisions from our past - where we have built up our experience and belief.  But what if we made decisions from the future?  What if we tapped into the version of us who has created the leadership and the life we most want?

EP49: Making Decisions Ahead of Time19 Dec 202200:20:12

Making decisions on behalf of your team, your organization and your business is a necessary and important skillset...but that isn't what this episode is about.  Because making decisions for YOURSELF has just as much, if not more, impact on your everyday, your future self and your desired goals/results.

When we wait to take action in the moment (Do I eat the cupcake in the lunchroom?  Should I have the conversation with my team member?  Is now the time to ask for that raise?) - our "monkey brain" kicks in.  In an effort to protect us from pain or disappointment and bring us immediate joy or comfort - it will tell us to eat the cupcake (one won't hurt)....but don't ask for the raise (not knowing the outcome is scary)...

In this episode - I talk about the why and the how to making decisions ahead of time and how to follow through.  Every decision will either take you closer to or further away from your goals.

Take a listen and you'll see why this matters.

Thanks for joining in - I would love to hear what you think!

EP47: The Magic of "What If"05 Dec 202200:12:27

When we are doing something new, reaching for a new goal and/or doing something outside of our comfort zone - the uncertainty and unknown can be a barrier.  Our brains like to offer a lot of "what if" questions.

  • "What if it doesn't work?"
  • "What if they don't like me?"
  • "What if I make a fool of myself?"

There is actually some magic in these two little words.  Join me in this episode where I talk about how "what if" can work to your advantage!

Do New Year's resolutions work for you?  Or how about intention-setting?  I've found, over the years, that they don't really work for me.  But one thing that does is choosing a word to focus on each year.  Having a word to guide me in my actions and decision-making has proven to lead me toward creating the results I'm looking for in different areas of my life.

And that can be the case for you too!

In this episode, I talk about how I choose a word, how it has impacted me over the years and I reveal my word for 2023!

One of the most common phrases I hear lately when talking to organizations, leaders, entreprenuers, friends.....is this:  "and then there was COVID."

In this episode - I talk about why going through an exercise of acknowledging, talking through and celebrating this shared experience can be very healthy for you, your team and your organization.  You will walk away with a simple format so you can facilitate it on your own!

EP29: Leading Through Change [Part One] - Change vs. Transition01 Aug 202200:29:13

We all know that change is constant.  We sure have all endured our fair share over the last several years!

It is critical that leaders know how to effectively lead both themselves and their teams through change.  We can have the best change management strategies in the world - but it is the ability to have healthy awareness around the human side (the psychology) of change that will really catapult change success.

In the first of two episodes about leading through change - Angie talks about what change is and shares the William Bridges' Transitions model.  Change is situational - transition is psychological.  We dig into why knowing this difference matters.

EP27: You Are Your Best Advocate18 Jul 202200:21:29

Wouldn't it be great if we always had someone else elevating us, tapping on our shoulder for bigger opportunities, ensuring equity and celebrating our achievements?

Hopefully we all have a person or two like that in our lives.  They are our biggest cheerleaders and may even advocate for us.

But here is the deal...the only person who can really take the wheel in your life, leadership and goal-attaining journey is YOU.

You are the person who needs to be your own best advocate.  For some - that statement can create all kinds of uncomfortable feelings and questions.

In this episode - Angie shares the whys behind this and provides tips on how you can start being your own best advocate today!

EP26: Leaders Have Feelings Too11 Jul 202200:23:59

In general - we weren't raised to actually feel our feelings. Stigmas around certain emotions have carried through the workplace.  For example - crying at work (especially as a leader) can be perceived as you being a weak leader.  But we are all human and have feelings!

In this episode - Angie talks about what feelings are, how they drive our actions and the importance of processing them - all while busting through the stigmas that they carry...especially in the workplace.

EP 25: Words Matter04 Jul 202200:13:59

Just one little word in a sentence can completely change how that message is received.  While we can't control what other people think - we can bring awareness to the possible impacts our words might have.

With that awareness - we are more open to leading with curiosity.  This will always cultivate a higher level of trust and connection between the leader the employee (or whomever you are interacting with).

In this short episode - Angie shares examples of how using words like "just" and "only" matter.
