| Increase Employee Retention | 16 Sep 2024 | 01:00:00 | |
Increase Employee Retention by Improving Onboarding, Training, and Succession Planning: Leaders are losing their people at an unprecedented rate due to poor onboarding, inconsistent training, and lack of succession planning. Out of 1000 employees surveyed, 80% said they had a poor onboarding experience. Lack of training can cause a 60% loss of the workforce over a 4 year period due to training gaps, mistakes, complaints, and low morale. Employees will also separate from a company when there is no defined career path or succession planning. Implementing a strong onboarding program increases retention by 82%, and increases productivity by 11%. Proper succession planning increases valuations by 20 - 25%. Companies can be more proactive about retention by implementing three important tools which will shift the course of employee happiness.

| Vertical Development: How to Upgrade Your Operating System | 05 Sep 2022 | 00:53:59 | |
Ryan Gottfredson, Ph.D. is a cutting-edge leadership development author, researcher, and consultant. He helps organizations vertically develop their leaders primarily through a focus on mindsets. Ryan is the Wall Street Journal and USA Today best-selling author of Success Mindsets: The Key to Unlocking Greater Success in Your Life, Work, & Leadership. He is also a leadership professor at the College of Business and Economics at California State University-Fullerton.
Vertical development is enhancing our ability to make meaning of our world in more cognitively and emotionally sophisticated ways. The concept comes with two assumptions:
1. People vary in their cognitive and emotional sophistication
2. Those with higher altitudes of cognitive and emotional sophistication will navigate life more effectively, be better leaders, and be more positive influences within their sphere of influence. There are different levels or altitudes or levels of vertical development/cognitive and emotional sophistication. I call them Mind 1.0, Mind 2.0, and Mind 3.0. Each serves as our internal operating system that causes us to focus on different goals and needs as follows: Mind 1.0 – Focused on safety, comfort, and belonging; Mind 2.0 – Focused on standing out, getting ahead, and winning; Mind 3.0 – Focused on contributing and adding value. Understanding this should leave us with two questions:
1. How do I elevate vertically? (i.e., How do I become more cognitively and emotionally sophisticated, with particular interest in Mind 3.0)
2. Because we have elements of all three mind levels within us, we also need to ask: How do I spend a higher percentage of my time in Mind 3.0? Find out more about Ryan at https://ryangottfredson.com/

Gostick and Elton solve the mystery of this “gratitude gap” in their new book LEADING WITH GRATITUDE: Eight Leadership Practices for Extraordinary Business Results (March 3, 2020; HarperBusiness). Thus was born The Music Paradigm and his book Maestro: A Surprising Story About Leading by Listening which has taken Mr. Nierenberg to the podium of over ninety different orchestras, hundreds of different organizations, in two dozen different countries.
We'll talk about many of the lessons learned on this journey and his book, such as:

| Encore Leading with Gratitude - Chester Elton | 20 Dec 2021 | 00:53:02 | |
After surveying more than one million employees at a wide range of companies, New York Times bestselling authors Adrian Gostick and Chester Elton found that gratitude—when done right—is the easiest, fastest, cheapest way that managers can boost performance and employee engagement. Yet it’s also one of the most misunderstood and misapplied skills in business.
Gostick and Elton solve the mystery of this “gratitude gap” in their new book LEADING WITH GRATITUDE: Eight Leadership Practices for Extraordinary Business Results (March 3, 2020; HarperBusiness). Their research shows that very few bosses intentionally bully. The problem is usually misperception or lack of awareness. These leaders have no idea how hard their people work, what challenges they face, or how much they would benefit from sincere and explicit gratitude. They also don’t know how to show gratitude effectively or sincerely.
