#10: How Parents Can Teach Their Young Adults to Set Goals and Plan for Their Future: The Secret Skill to a Fulfilling Life11 Jan 202500:16:23

Is Your Adult Child Struggling with Adulthood? You'll know for sure, when you click here and receive your FREE Checklist of Signs.

Goal setting and future planning are some of the most valuable life skills you can teach your young adult. In this episode of Launch, we explore why these skills are so impactful and how they can shape a young adult’s path toward independence, confidence, and resilience. Setting goals gives your young adult direction, motivation, and purpose—key qualities for navigating life’s uncertainties. When they learn how to focus their energy, manage their priorities, and make intentional choices, they’ll feel empowered to take control of their future, even when the path ahead seems unclear. Future planning builds on this foundation, helping them think beyond today and prepare for the responsibilities that come with adulthood.

But here’s the truth: planning ahead isn’t always easy for young adults. It’s far more tempting to live day by day on autopilot. That’s why in this episode, I’ll share a simple, actionable goal-setting method that you can teach, even if you’ve never practiced it yourself. This practical approach will not only help your young adult establish clear, achievable goals but also foster personal growth, self-confidence, and habits that will serve them for life. I’ll also discuss the importance of future planning—how it gives young adults a reason to get up each morning and a sense of accomplishment at the end of the day. By learning to anticipate what they want in the future, they’ll create a roadmap to success that guides them forward, even through uncertain times.

Whether your adult child is feeling stuck, unmotivated, or unsure of their next steps, this episode will equip you an easy method to help them take charge of their future with confidence. Tune in to learn how you can teach your young adult to set goals, plan for the future, and move forward with intention and purpose!

#19: Parenting Through Alcohol Addiction: One Mother’s Journey of Personal Growth Through Her Son’s Struggle to Sobriety05 Apr 202500:57:28

What do you do when your young adult calls and confesses that alcohol is destroying their life - and they're 1,000 miles away?

In this deeply heartfelt and insightful episode, we explore one mother’s real-life experience parenting her young adult son through alcohol addiction—and the personal growth, mindset shifts, and lessons she learned that can help other parents facing similar struggles.

This is not just a story of addiction and recovery. It’s a story of a parent who realized that her role had to shift. My guest, Kim Muench, opens up about the pain of letting go, the struggle of rewriting her limiting beliefs and the lifelong parenting patterns that Kim had to work through in order to heal herself and find the strength to help her son.

You’ll hear firsthand what it's like to love your adult child through their addiction. To stand beside them without losing yourself. To shift from control to connection.

This episode is filled with calm insights, personal reflections and grounded wisdom for any parent who is walking alongside a struggling young adult—especially when the path feels heavy, uncertain, and overwhelming. We talk about how to love without enabling, how to stay close without controlling, and how to find peace as a parent even when your child is in crisis.

Whether you're currently navigating this road, you know someone going through this, or you want to understand the deeper realities of parenting through addiction, this conversation will be a guiding light...as long as you (or they) are prepared to do the work to heal the childhood wounds.

If you want to learn how to build strength, resilience, and emotional clarity in your parenting even under the most difficult circumstances —this conversation is for you.

I’ll help you recognize what’s really going on behind their behaviour and give you steps you can take to shift this dynamic to help them mature and behave like the adult they are.

This episode might clear up a lot of your confusion. It did for me!

#17: Breaking the Trauma Cycle: How to Stop Parenting Your Adult Kids Through the Lens of Your Negative Childhood22 Mar 202500:15:27

Have you ever stopped to ask yourself how your own childhood is showing up in your parenting ?

In this episode, we're having an honest conversation about something many parents never pause to consider: the lingering effects of your own unhealed childhood trauma—and how it can quietly impact your relationship with your child, no matter how old they are.

You’ll learn what trauma really looks like (and it shows up in different ways), how to recognize it in yourself, in the way you were parented, and how those unresolved patterns can unintentionally shape your child, and impact your relationship. Even if you love your kids deeply, trauma that goes unacknowledged can lead to distance, miscommunication, and negative cycles that repeat across generations.

We’ll talk about the subtle ways these patterns show up and more importantly, we’ll cover what it takes to break that cycle and start showing up differently—as the emotionally stable parent your child can trust and connect with.

Because let’s be honest—parenting doesn’t end at 18. Your child still needs you. To be strong. To be steady. And to support them, with love and self-awareness, till your very last breath.

You have the power to change the legacy. It’s never too late to become the parent your child deserves.

#16: Parental Estrangement: When Your Adult Child Goes No Contact - An Estranged Parent Shares Her Personal Story15 Mar 202501:02:29

For anyone who prefers watching interviews,  you'll find it on Shari's youtube channel: Click here: https://youtu.be/TG35c5LsKtA?si=wYiBzElWmTdAicXw

Few things are more painful than Parental Estrangement—when your adult child intentionally limits or cuts off contact, leaving you heartbroken, confused, and searching for answers.  The silence is deafening, the questions feel endless, and the pain can be unbearable. Why does this happen? Can the relationship be repaired? And if not, how do you cope and move forward?

Parental estrangement occurs when an adult child chooses to have no contact with their parent. This decision is often rooted in unresolved conflicts, emotional pain, and their need for boundaries and healing.

Estrangement can be temporary or permanent and may involve silence, avoidance, or rejection of attempts to reconnect. For parents, it can be an overwhelming experience, leading to feelings of grief, guilt, and confusion. While reconciliation is sometimes possible, healing often begins with self-reflection, taking accountability, and focusing on personal growth.

In this deeply personal and fully transparent episode, I sit down with Crystal Allon, a mother who has experienced estrangement firsthand. Now, she offers support and guidance to other parents facing the same pain, helping them navigate their emotions and work towards transformation through self-awareness.

  We explore:
🔹 Why adult children choose to go no contact
🔹How to shift from grief and confusion to self-reflection and healing
🔹How to find peace, even if reconciliation isn’t an immediate option
🔹The role and impact of Generational Trauma
🔹How to approach this if you are a Grandparent

If you or someone you know is struggling with parental estrangement, this episode offers insight, encouragement, and suggestions to help you move forward.

#24: How to Tell if Your Adult Child Is Addicted to Video Games; One Mom’s Powerful Story of How She Saved Her Son’s Life17 May 202501:05:13

When my kid first started playing video games, it was a great way for them to unwind. It also gave me peace of mind, knowing they were staying out of trouble. At the time, it didn’t seem like a problem, they still had other activities in their life, and they only played a few hours a day. But now it’s all my adult child wants to do, it’s all they talk about, and the only friends they spend time with are the ones on the other end of their headset. Every time we bring it up, they push back, make excuses and act as if everything is okay. But they barely come out of their room. They've lost interest in everything they used to love to do. I’m really beginning to worry. I feel like I'm losing my child. And honestly, I’ve tried everything, but nothing I say or do matters. I can’t stop wondering; is this just a passing phase or is my child addicted to video games? How can I help them?

If this sounds like the voice in your head, this episode will give you the clarity and answers that you are seeking. I’m joined by my guest Elaine Uskoski, a mother who lived through the nightmare of her son’s video game addiction.

In this deeply personal and eye-opening conversation, Elaine shares what it was like to watch her adult child spiral into isolation, anxiety, and dependency. She opens up about the warning signs she didn’t recognize at first, the difficult decisions she had to make, and how she was able to overcome this challenging period in her family’s life.

Her journey through this crisis didn’t just change her son’s life—it transformed hers. If you’ve been questioning whether your adult child’s gaming has gone too far and you are ready to get them help, this episode is your chance to hear from someone who’s been there. You don’t have to figure this out alone. Help is available.

Please share this video with someone who might need to hear it.

#22: Rat Park Study | My Kid Spends All Their Time in Their Room: How Loneliness Can Be the Cause of Addiction 10 May 202500:19:08

What if the reason your adult child is always in their room… is because they’re hiding something? You have your suspicions—but they’re so disconnected and so secretive, that you’re no longer sure what’s real. You’ve got a hunch (love that parenting instinct) but they’ve gotten so good at making you feel bad for even questioning them, you’re riddled with self-doubt. Yet the facts are clear; they spend hours behind that door, you’re barely allowed in, they’re not themselves and something is very wrong. But who can you turn to, especially when everyone else’s adult kid seems to be okay? I can assure you that after listening to this episode, you’ll have a much better idea of what you can do to help.

But just so we’re on the same page – in case you think your adult kid is just going through a stage and “whatever it is”, will pass, you’re fooling yourself. Addiction is so much worse than what we think. It’s not just excessive alcohol or smoking too much weed – as if that isn’t bad enough. It’s ANY behavior that is getting in the way of your adult child’s life. In fact addiction has gotten so bad, that it’s actually an epidemic. So you can stop feeling like it’s just happening to your kid.

Before you jump into the episode, or maybe you’re not even sure if its for you, I want to share how extensive this problem is. Addictive behaviours could be anything from video gaming, social media scrolling, vaping, binge-watching YouTube or Netflix, gambling, online shopping, overeating, pornography – as well as alcohol and drugs. Many are hard to detect but all are hard to admit.

The worst part is this; these are not habits that will go away on their own — they require either intervention or a complete lifestyle change. Do not feel overwhelmed (too late for that Shari). I understand how difficult this is, and I truly believe you can help, once you know what to do.

Because I’ll be honest - here comes the NO BS Parenting tip - to just “let them” keep hiding in their room, staying addicted and continuing to be disconnected from life, is going to do more harm than good.

So instead of doing that, listen to this episode first because I’m about to share the shocking truth about the underlying cause of your adult child’s addiction and (drum roll please) that you CAN make a difference by not letting them sit there, alone in their room, wasting their life away. 💪

Please share this episode with someone who needs to hear it. 💞

#21: The Parenting Shift from Coach to Advisor: How to Communicate with Your Adult Child to Build a Lifelong Friendship02 May 202500:56:07

Want a better relationship with your adult child? Start by changing the way you communicate.

In this episode of LAUNCH, I talk with Toby Slough and his daughter Bailey Garner about the crucial transition every parent needs to make; going from Coach to Advisor. Chock full of eye-opening insights, practical tips, and real talk, I'm sure you'll find this conversation both helpful and heartfelt. (You might want to grab a tissue.)

Here's the problem we’re addressing today; if you're still trying to communicate with your adult child the same way you did when they were younger—and your relationship is not developing into a respectful and meaningful friendship—it’s about time you change your approach and your mindset.

In this powerful conversation, we share our parenting wisdom of what it looks like to shift from being the COACH your child has relied on to the ADVISOR they want to turn to. We talk about the importance of knowing when to step back, how to communicate without controlling, and why this shift is essential to strengthening your relationship as they grow into adulthood.

When you change how you communicate, you open the door to a lifelong friendship with your adult child. Are you ready?

About my Guests:

Toby Slough is a pastor, author, and mental health advocate with over 35 years of ministry experience. After personally battling anxiety and panic disorder, Toby felt called to create spaces of emotional healing and is now the Legacy Pastor of Cross Timbers Church in Texas. Toby and his wife Mika are also the founders of BeAGoby.com, a faith-based platform dedicated to providing tools to local churches and resources to families, with a focus on helping parents and adult children to live emotionally healthier lives.

Their daughter, Bailey Garner, is the Director of Key Relationships at Goby Ministries, where she works closely with churches, schools, and families—coordinating events, building meaningful partnerships, and helping the family to share their message.

Before we jump in, just a quick heads-up; I apologize in advance for the sound quality on my end—something went a little sideways in the recording process and I sound a bit wonkey. But don’t worry—this conversation is very insightful, and so worth listening to.

#26: What Happens When You Meet Your Kids Where They Are: One Mom’s Inspiring Journey Raising Neurodivergent Children—and Powerful Lessons for All Parents30 May 202501:07:22

What does it really mean to "meet your kids where they are"—and what happens when you do? Every single child is unique. Correction. Every human being is unique. The difference is, a child has a better chance of holding onto their uniqueness, discovering their individual strengths, and walking their own path, if they have a parent who is willing to nurture that.

Many adults are too far gone. (Sorry for my brutal honesty). They've been  immersed in the expectations and timelines of a society that doesn't favor diversity. Conformity has ruled their lives for so long. And unfortunately they expect their children to do the same.

But if you are a parent like my guest Anita Allen, you embrace your children and meet them where they are, with your whole heart.

In this episode, I asked my guest very personal questions, and held space for her to share her inspiring parenting journey with us. I truly appreciated listening to how Anita learned to ignore timelines, trust her instincts, and support her children’s unique paths of self-discovery, growth and independence - on their terms. Believe me, every parent can learn something from Anita.

Whether you're raising a neurodivergent child or a neurotypical one - and the differences will be made very clear in this episode, Anita’s beautiful insights will stay with you. Maybe they'll even inspire you.

If you’ve ever questioned whether you’re doing enough, doing too much or doing what's right for your child—this episode is for you. I am so grateful that I was able to get to know Anita. I hope you listen to her, right till the end, because it just gets better and better.

Finally, if you know someone who can benefit from Anita's experience and her parenting approach please share this. It could change a child's life.

#25: Stop Comparing Your Kid: The Key to Helping Your Adult Child Discover Themself24 May 202500:23:28

Do you find yourself wondering why your adult child hasn’t reached the milestones others seem to have hit already—college, career, independence? Maybe you’re hearing other parents talk about their thriving young adults while you’re silently thinking, “Why is mine still stuck?”

Here’s the hard truth: comparing your child to their peers, siblings or even your own expectations isn’t helping them. And while it might come from a place of love and concern, it often lands as disapproval, disappointment, and pressure.

In this powerful episode, I’ll walk you through:

  • The Comparison Trap and it's silent message
  • The ways it damages your child’s self-worth and motivation
  • Why it’s so common to compare, especially when you’re worried they aren't “launching” into adulthood
  • What to say and do instead that actually helps build confidence and growth
  • How to reconnect with your adult child by seeing them on their  timeline—not yours or anyone else’s.

If your adult child is still living at home, struggling to find their path—this episode will help you shift out of comparison mode and into connection and self-discovery. It’s time to start appreciating and empowering them for who they are, their unique qualities and individual strengths —because progress starts with a new perspective, having "fresh eyes" on the late bloomer that is your child.

#27: How to Have an Honest Conversation with Your Adult Kid to Become the Parent They Need Right Now07 Jun 202500:21:47

"I hate you! You're the worst Mom in the world!"

Did you ever say that to your parent when you were a kid? Or maybe you were on the receiving end; watching your 5-year-old, arms crossed, storming off in protest because you wouldn’t let them bring their stuffed animal to school. They’ll get over it, you thought. And they did.

Fast forward 20 years, no more plush toys, no more explosive dramatics. Just silence. You have no idea what’s going on inside their head. They're quiet now. Almost all the time. Except when they want something. You can’t help but wonder if they even like you. That look on their face when you ask them to do something, you'd think it was physically grueling work. Put your towels in the hamper – that’s all.

Do you ever wonder what your adult child  thinks of you? What do they say about you behind your back? Are you still “the worst parent in the world” - but for different reasons? You can spend the next 5 years or 50 years, never knowing, or maybe you’ll find out when they tell you their therapists thinks you've traumatized their childhood. Maybe they've traumatized your parenthood, you think. Not out loud of course.

Here’s the truth, so brace yourself. You will never truly have a meaningful and authentic relationship with your adult child if you don’t know how they really feel about you, as their parent.

If you're ready… this episode is for you.

#28 Stop Walking on Eggshells and Start Parenting With Confidence 14 Jun 202501:20:55

Walking on eggshells, afraid to set boundaries, worried about pushing your young adult too hard and constantly second-guessing yourself is EXHAUSTING. There’s got to be a better way.

It might sound cliché, but there are so many parents who are in the same boat as you, trying to do the right thing for their young adult, but nothing is working. Maybe it’s not what you’re doing, but how you’re doing it. You’ve lost your power. Your self confidence as a parent is non-existent. You live in constant fear of upsetting them and you know what? They can tell.

In this episode, I’m joined by my new friend and parenting coach Kim Muench. Back in Episode 19, she shared her personal story about her son’s struggle with alcohol addiction. If you haven’t listened yet, I encourage you to. You’ll find it incredibly inspiring.

This time, Kim and I are talking about a different topic, one that touches every parent with an adult child who is struggling. When our children aren’t happy, we aren’t either. We want to help, but we don’t know how. The answers however, are not as elusive as you think.

The problem is you’ve lost your confidence. In it’s place is fear, worry, and this gut-wrenching sense of helplessness.  But today’s conversation might change all that.

So go for a walk, or find a quiet space and join Kim and I as we share our stories, reflect on how we were parented, and offer the insight and tools that can help you start parenting with confidence.

#29: You’re Only as Happy as Your Saddest Child - But Is That Holding You Back from Helping Them?26 Jun 202500:16:55

You’ve heard it said, “You’re only as happy as your saddest child,” and perhaps this is your mantra. But what if that belief is holding you back from being the parent that your adult child needs? Can you lead them through their struggles and help them overcome their fears when you feel as bad as they do?

Today, we’re talking about emotional enmeshment; what it is, how to recognize it, and how to start untangling yourself from your adult child’s emotions, while  loving and guiding them every step of the way.

From this episode:

A few gentle reminders to ease you through this process of separating your emotions from your adult child's:

My child doesn’t need me to feel what they’re feeling. They need me to lead them through it.

My child doesn’t want me to be weak.
They want me to show them emotional strength.

My child won’t learn or grow or change
If I just let them stay stuck and lost.

My child needs a parent who can lead with confidence.

And that’s me.

#30: Helping Your Adult Child Discover Their Strengths and Find Their Path: Advice from a Career Coach03 Jul 202500:59:32

If your adult child feels lost, unmotivated, and unsure about their future, you might love this episode  - especially if your young adult is struggling to find out what they want to do and which career would "light them up".

I’m speaking with Kristin Clark, a Career Exploration Coach who uses the CliftonStrengths assessment (which I mentioned in Episode #25), along with her own unique formula, to help young adults better understand where their interests can take them.

We talk about why so many young adults lack the confidence when it comes to choosing a career path, how you can support this exploration process and what Kristen can do to help your adult child believe there is something out there that truly suits who they are and what they love.

If your young adult feels stuck and hopeless because they think there is no career for them, this conversation is just what you need to help them discover their strengths and move forward with confidence.

Here's the link to Mama Bear Legal where you can get the power of attorney documents that Kristen mentioned during the episode:

#31: My Stay-at-Home Adult Child is NEET: What That Means and What Parents Can Do to Help10 Jul 202500:08:45

So, your adult child lives at home but does nothing all day. Seriously, nothing. They have no job, no interests, no plans, no life. You're tired of asking them, tired of nagging, losing patience and deep down, you wonder; will I ever get to retire

You're past the point where it's just a phase. All you hear are excuses. While some might be valid, you can't help but wonder - how can they be okay living their life like this? Well, I've got news for you. And it's not good.

There is a whole community of young adults who are perfectly content with this lifestyle. They don't tell YOU that. But amongst themselves, they think it's okay. They even have a name for themselves, and it's NEET. And no, I did not mispell that. But it is sort of ironic.

In this short episode, I reveal to you what NEET means, and what you can do about it. Because if you know that your adult child has no interest in ever working, or planning their future, and they're just hoping you'll let them live out their years in their bedroom, where the #$%&! does that leave you?

#32: Change Starts With You: How One Mom’s Journey Helped Her Daughter Find Happiness Again 17 Jul 202500:40:46

If your home stresses you out, your life feels out of control, your adult children are miserable - hiding inside their messy bedrooms - and you’re not sure how much longer you can survive the chaos, this heartfelt conversation will inspire you.

In today’s episode, I had the pleasure of speaking with a courageous mom who made the greatest change in her life, and in doing so, helped her daughter turn her's around.

This is a true story of one mother’s journey to bravely follow her heart, because she knew that if she didn’t, neither she nor her daughter might ever find happiness.

When you see your adult children are not thriving and you know that it's because of what is going on in your home or how you're being treated, you find the strength to take the boldest steps. It is what every parent should do when they are suffocating and their children are too.

How can your adult children respect you when the people around you don’t?

How can they feel empowered to grow when you’re living so small?

If you want your adult children to thrive, the path forward doesn’t start with them - it starts with you.

👉 If you’re a parent with a story to share, I’d love to hear from you because your experience could be exactly what another parent needs to hear.

#33: Survey Reveals What Parents of Struggling Adult Children Worry About Most29 Jul 202500:17:07

I asked parents of struggling adult children to tell me what they think is really going on and they delivered. In this episode, I reveal the most common worries, frustrations and obstacles that parents are seeing in their adult kids, and what they believe is truly holding them back.

If what these parents are saying resonates with you, feel free to leave a comment. If you're ready for guidance, please reach out. If you're hoping for solutions, you're in the right place.

After you listen to the episode, if you're interested in the resource that I talk about, here's the link. You can read all about The LAUNCH Guide:

https://parentingfx.com/products/the-launch-guide

The Launch Guide is a 15 page, job search accountability booklet that offers tools and suggestions to help young adults manage the challenges of job hunting by keeping them focused, productive, and moving forward. There's even a job search tracking spreadsheet that is editable and printable, which you can participate in.

What makes it unique is its ability to build momentum, confidence, and responsibility, while they search for a job.

There isn't anything more damaging to a person's self confidence than sitting around feeling incompetent, unemployable, and lonely.

Don't let them hide away in their rooms, wasting their lives, when there is so much they can do with their time.

Please send this episode to a parent who needs to hear it, and mention The LAUNCH Guide link to them as well. Young adults should not be left alone in their rooms. Nothing positive will come from that.

#34: The Shocking Truth About the Effects of Bullying and Gaslighting on an Adult Child’s Brain and What Parents Can Do05 Aug 202500:57:30

What if I told you that bullying and gaslighting don’t just leave emotional wounds - they actually damage the brain? My guest today, Dr. Jennifer Fraser, is an educator, researcher, and author who has written 2 books about how these emotionally abusive experiences can rewire a child’s brain in ways that last into adulthood.

In The Bullied Brain (available now) and The Gaslit Brain (being released in November 2025), Jen explains how these forms of harm don’t just hurt feelings, they can actually alter the brain. However, because our brains are "neuroplastic" these wounds can be healed. This episode will tell you how.

Join me as Jen opens up about how bullying and gaslighting impacted both her son and herself, and what she did to move past it.

For parents wondering why their grown child still struggles with confidence, motivation, or trust, this conversation might answer your deepest concerns.

Whether you’re a parent, educator, or simply curious about the power of the human brain to recover, you’ll find this conversation inspiring and full of hope.

This is one episode you won’t want to miss and you might want to share.

#35: How to Raise Respectful, Responsible, Independent Adults While They're Living at Home and the Game-Changing Resource That Makes It Possible16 Aug 202500:15:40

The link to The Living Together Agreement e-book is here - https://parentingfx.com/products/living-together-agreement

Living with your adult child is either difficult or it's driving you crazy, but it doesn’t have to be that way. You think you've tried everything, but you've only used your words and unfortunately, they don't carry any weight.

In this episode, I share the 5 essential pillars every parent needs to have in place to raise a respectful, responsible, and independent young adult while they’re still living under your roof. You’ll discover how these pillars create the foundation for mutual respect, shared responsibilities, and long-term independence.

Plus, I’ll introduce you to a powerful parenting resource that offers you the perfect solution that includes a step-by-step framework to help you set expectations and create a home environment where your young adult can grow, contribute, and  become ready to live on their own one day.

Without this in place, your home might always be a battlefield of resentment, entitlement and complacency. This gives you the opportunity to change that and live in harmony with your adult child for as long as you both want.

#36: The Inspiring Story of a Young Woman Who - With the Encouragement of Her Parents - Refused to Let Her Learning Disability Define Her.20 Aug 202500:36:25

If your adult child has a learning disability and feels stigmatized, unmotivated, and has a "life isn't fair" attitude, or perhaps your adult child simply makes excuses for their lacklustre life and spends a lot of time feeling sorry for themselves, you better believe this episode is for you.

Michelle Steiner’s story is exactly what every parent needs to hear if they feel bad for their young adult because they believe the narrative that was told to them when their child was first diagnosed.

Michelle could have believed what her teachers told her when she was younger, that she wouldn’t be able to go to college or get a good job because of her learning disability. But she nor her parents would accept that.

If you’ve been caught in the trap of believing your child "can’t", this conversation will make you think again.

Whether your adult child is struggling with failure to launch, or you’ve quietly stopped believing they can ever live independently, this episode will open your eyes to how far someone can go when the people who care about them stop making excuses and start believing in their ability to rise.

Michelle Steiner’s story isn’t just inspirational, it’s a mindset shift for every parent who’s been told their child won’t succeed. In this honest, motivational interview, Michelle shares what it was like growing up with a learning disability and how the support around her made all the difference.

If your adult child is stuck or caught in a cycle of self-pity, this conversation will challenge you to stop making excuses and start seeing what's truly possible.

Please share this episode with any parent who needs their faith restored in their adult child's ability to find something in their life that lights them up. Never give up, is the underlying them in this episode.

I want to share their suggestions with you as I believe they echo a truth we can’t afford to ignore and you'll understand why every parent needs to hear these 10 pieces of advice today.

Change starts with you.

As always, I'll being sharing simple, practical ways that you can model gratitude and in so doing, guide your young adult to do the same. If they are moping around, feeling purposeless and discouraged, this episode will show you how the daily practice of gratitude can open the door to hope and possibility.

Let the neurotransmitters show you how!

#43: How Healing Childhood Trauma from a Narcissistic Parent Can Deepen Your Connection With Your Child20 Sep 202501:04:38

If you grew up with a narcissistic parent or experienced childhood trauma, you may still feel the effects today most notably in how you parent your own children.

In this episode of LAUNCH, I sit down with Certified Inner Child Reparenting Coach Maria Riegger to talk about how healing past trauma can not only transform the way you raise your kids but build an "unshakeable" foundation. We cover what it really means to heal childhood trauma, how unresolved wounds from a narcissistic mom or dad can impact your parenting, and why reparenting yourself  (also explained) is the key to becoming a more connected and compassionate parent.

Maria shares practical advice on understanding and setting healthy boundaries, breaking free from one's past, and creating a deeper bond with your children built on trust and respect, for who they are. It is invaluable for parents to have that connection with their child, and if you’re struggling with it, the reason may be that there’s healing you still need to do.

If you’ve ever wondered how your own childhood experiences affect your parenting or how healing from trauma can help you connect with your child in a healthier way this incredible episode is for you.

#42: Will I Have Enough Money to Retire If My Adult Kids Are Still Living at Home? Financial Advice for Parents17 Sep 202500:39:18

Are you a mature parent wondering if you’re financially prepared for retirement? Maybe you still have a few working years ahead, but you know planning for your retirement should be a priority. Or perhaps retirement is already on your mind, but you’re worried it could be delayed because your adult kids are still living at home.

My guest today is Eric Mangold, founder of Argosy Wealth Management. I'll warn you, this might not be the sexiest interview - I mean, who loves talking about money? But, it is an important one and Eric does a great job answering questions like, Will I have enough money? When can I retire? And, should I tell my kids about what - if any - will be left for them when I'm not around anymore.

These are some of the biggest financial concerns mature parents face.

Eric shares his expert advice on how to feel more confident about your retirement, what steps you can take right now to strengthen your finances, and how to protect yourself from running out of money. We also talk about what parents can teach their young adults about money and how they can build strong money habits for the future.

If you’re worried about how you’ll retire, unsure how to save, how much you’ll need, or what steps to take next; this conversation will give you clarity and practical direction.

#47 How Harmful is Loneliness and Isolation for Kids’ Mental Health? You'll Be Shocked to Discover11 Oct 202500:54:54

Isolation has quietly become one of the most serious threats to young adults today. In this episode, I’m joined by author and speaker Elaine Uskoski to talk about how loneliness and social disconnection are impacting kids today.

The U.S. Surgeon General recently declared loneliness a public health crisis, warning that social isolation can raise the risk of depression, addiction, heart disease, dementia, and even premature death. But for many young adults, spending hours alone in their room - gaming, streaming, or scrolling -  has replaced real-life connection and the impact runs deeper than you know.

Elaine’s recent blog post, “How Isolation Can Breed Gaming Addiction: The Rat Park Experiment,” brings this into sharp focus, and in Episode 22, I also talked about the powerful Rat Park study, which showed that social connection and environmental stimulation are essential to our well-being.  Both speak to the same truth: when a young person lacks real connection, they’ll search for it elsewhere,  and too often, that ‘elsewhere’ becomes a dark place of addiction and depression.

If you know a young adult who’s withdrawn, disengaged, struggling to connect, and spending too much time alone in their room, online gaming, scrolling social media or watching videos this episode will be a wake-up call.

#49: Is Parental Estrangement Permanent? One Mother's Healing Journey25 Oct 202500:43:54

Parental estrangement is one of the most painful and complex experiences a parent can go through, especially when an adult child goes no contact. It’s a situation filled with unanswered questions, shame, guilt, and the aching silence of disconnection.

In this follow-up episode, we reconnect with a mother who previously shared her personal experience with estrangement from her adult children. This time, she returns with an update, but we’re not here to give away the ending.

Instead, we talk about what happens when a parent chooses to do the inner work; the self-reflection, the healing from childhood wounds and the growth.

If you’re struggling with estrangement from your adult child, wondering if things will ever change, or questioning whether all your effort makes a difference, this conversation is for you.

#50: What Young Adults Need Most From Their Parents: A Heartfelt Conversation With a 25-Year-Old01 Nov 202501:14:07

Today marks one year that this podcast was born and I am celebrating it with a very special guest.

In this heartfelt episode, a 25-year-old young adult shares her honest insight into what it’s really like to grow up today, the challenges, the pressures, the mental energy, the importance of communication, self-care, friendships, therapy and most importantly what young adults need from their parents to feel seen, supported, and understood.

Often times, the deepest truths come from the people living it. This candid and most revealing conversation offers clarity, wisdom, and perspective that every parent of an adult child will appreciate.

If you struggle communicating or understanding what your adult child needs from you, this episode will enlighten you in more ways than you can imagine. With a surprise twist in the end, you will discover that being honest and vulnerable as a parent, will only bring you closer to your children.

We are not perfect, but working on becoming better parents by learning what our adult children need and want from us, is the most rewarding feeling - at least it is for me.

Remember to hit the follow button so you never miss an episode, and please share it with another parent - possibly even with your adult child.
