On September 25, 2000, Kevin Hines, then 19 years old, approached the Golden Gate Bridge with the intention of ending his own life. CNN reports that the iconic bridge in San Francisco is the leading suicide location in the United States and the second most utilized globally, boasting a 98% fatality rate. Remarkably, Kevin is one of only thirty-four individuals to survive the fall, and he stands as the sole person to regain full physical mobility.
Although the fall shattered his body, it failed to break his spirit. Today, Kevin devotes his life to saving others and promoting mental health awareness, urging individuals to seek help and fostering empathy by sharing his message of hope. He has become one of the most respected and admired voices reflecting lived experiences. Kevin's story serves as an extraordinary testament to the resilience of the human spirit and as a poignant reminder for all of us to cherish the lives we lead.
