Episode 159 - BONUS FULL INTERVIEW ( Inside the Exam Machine + Soweto Protests ) With Mr. Simmy Ziv-El25 sept. 202600:58:57

You've taken hundreds of test questions in your life. Every single one of them was written by someone, checked for fairness by someone, and eventually scored by some system — and almost nobody ever explains how any of that actually happens. Today, I sit down with someone who's been inside that machine for over 30 years.

Mr. Simmy Ziv-El built one of the very first classroom tests that could grade itself, back in 1991 — decades before anyone imagined a computer could read an essay. He went on to work inside some of the biggest names in testing, including ETS and ACT, helped oversee the scoring of a real worldwide test of creative thinking, and — years before ChatGPT made "AI" a household word — started building the AI systems now used to actually write test questions. He was also a student himself, in Johannesburg, South Africa, back in 1976, which gives him a firsthand, personal window into a completely different country's education system.

In this episode: what actually makes a test question "fair," how a computer learns to grade something as human as an essay, what it's like watching AI go from science fiction to something quietly writing your homework questions, and what one person's path through nearly every era of testing — paper-and-pencil to artificial intelligence — can teach the rest of us about how much work goes on behind a single test score.

We also get a sneak peak into the Soweto Protests In South Africa, arguably one of the most iconic and important student led protests of history, from someone who stood on the streets himself.

Episode 158 - Inside The Exam Machine - The Man Behind Your Test Scores, from India to South Africa - Mr. Simmy Ziv-El!24 sept. 202600:33:11

Every test you've ever taken, from a school quiz to a big standardized exam, was designed by someone, scored by some system, and judged "fair" by rules most people never see. Today's guest has spent over 30 years inside that machine: he built one of the very first classroom tests that could grade itself back in 1991, worked inside major exam organizations like ETS and ACT, helped score a worldwide test of creative thinking, and, years before most people had heard of AI chatbots - started building the AI systems that actually write exam questions today. He was even a student himself in Johannesburg, South Africa, back in 1976, giving him a firsthand seat inside another country's education system entirely. Meet Mr. Simmy Ziv-El, and find out what really happens behind the scenes of every test score you've ever gotten.

Episode 157 - 700 Year Old Wheels That Tell Time - How did They Build That?24 août 202600:08:11

There's a temple in Odisha, built 700 years ago to look like a massive stone chariot carrying the Sun god across the sky — and its 24 carved stone wheels aren't just decoration. Each one has 16 spokes positioned so precisely that the shadows they cast actually tell you the time of day, accurate to this day, with no batteries, no gears, nothing electronic at all. Today on Kidacity, I'm kicking off a brand new series — "How Did They Build THAT?" — exploring real Indian structures built centuries before modern tools, each one hiding a genuine engineering mystery that still makes experts scratch their heads. First up: the Konark Sun Temple, its working stone sundial, and the still-unexplained collapse of its main tower. This is Kidacity — where kids learn, share, and grow together.

Episode 156 - Nehru's Midnight Speech For The Independent India - Four Words At Midnight13 août 202600:08:28

At the exact stroke of midnight between August 14th and August 15th, 1947, inside the Constituent Assembly chamber in Parliament House, New Delhi, Jawaharlal Nehru stood up to give a speech that had been planned, on purpose, to begin the very second India stopped being a British colony and became a free country. Today on Kidacity, I'm reading you his actual opening words — not a summary, the real sentences, exactly as he said them — and breaking down why he chose the phrase "tryst with destiny" instead of something simpler, what he meant by "the soul of a nation, long suppressed, finds utterance," and the promises he made that night about ending poverty and ignorance that India is honestly still working on keeping. This is the speech that started a country at midnight, timed to the second, and I want you to hear what freedom actually sounded like in the room where it happened. Counting down to Independence Day, August 15th, on Kidacity — where kids learn, share, and grow together.

Episode 155 - The Story Of Our National Anthem - One Man, One Night, One Song That Outlived an Empire13 août 202600:09:33

Every single school morning, millions of kids across India stand up and sing the same fifty-two seconds of music without ever really asking where it came from. Today on Kidacity, I'm going all the way back to a winter night in Calcutta in December 1911, when a poet named Rabindranath Tagore first heard his own song performed in public — and into the controversy that followed almost immediately, when people accused him of writing it for a king instead of for his country. I found his own written defense of the song, word for word, and I'm reading it to you. Then I'm fast-forwarding almost forty years, to the actual Constituent Assembly vote that made this song India's official national anthem, and asking why we still don't talk about the fact that it was written in a language built to be understood everywhere, on purpose. Counting down to Independence Day, August 15th, on Kidacity — where kids learn, share, and grow together.

Episode 154 - The Flag Nobody Remembers, and a Teenager Who Gave Everything - Independence Day Series E110 août 202600:10:49

Who actually designed India's flag? Not a committee — one man, twenty-five drafts, and a three-hour deadline set by Gandhi himself. Today on Kidacity, I'm telling you his story, alongside the story of a teenage freedom fighter who gave everything for a country that wasn't even free yet — and closing with one question about freedom I want YOU to actually answer. Counting down to Independence Day, August 15th, on Kidacity — where kids learn, share, and grow together.

Episode 148 - Why are Tirupati, Varanasi, Dwaraka so popular? - Exploring why India travels for faith! - India Explained06 juil. 202600:08:31

Vacations in India aren’t always about beaches, resorts, or shopping malls — more often, they’re about temples, mosques, rivers, and shrines. In this episode, we explore why pilgrimage destinations attract more visitors than leisure tourism spots.

We’ll trace the roots of pilgrimage in India, from ancient journeys to the Ganga and Yamuna, to modern circuits like Tirupati, Vaishno Devi, and the Kumbh Mela. We’ll examine how accessibility, affordability, and community make pilgrimages more appealing than “chill” vacations. Along the way, we’ll highlight the emotional and cultural pull of faith — from family rituals to life milestones — and how governments have turned pilgrimage into a tourism industry of its own.

We’ll also compare leisure travel’s rise — hill stations, beaches, resorts — and why it remains secondary to spiritual journeys. From global parallels like the Hajj in Saudi Arabia or the Camino de Santiago in Spain, to India’s record‑breaking crowds, this episode uncovers why faith continues to drive travel more than fun.

This is the story of how India’s roads more often lead to shrines than to spas, and why pilgrimage refreshes not just the body, but the soul.

Episode 147 - Cricket Vs. Hockey - Why one dominated, and, the other, faded - India Explained.05 juil. 202600:08:25

India’s official national sport is hockey, yet the nation’s most popular is cricket. Why did one game capture the imagination of millions while the other, despite its golden Olympic legacy, fade into the background?

In this episode, we rewind to hockey’s glory days — six consecutive Olympic golds, legends like Dhyan Chand, and packed stadiums — and contrast them with cricket’s meteoric rise after the 1983 World Cup victory. We’ll explore how television, accessibility, star power, and the spectacle of the IPL transformed cricket into a cultural phenomenon, while hockey struggled to keep pace.

From colonial roots to modern entertainment, from national pride to emotional resonance, this is the story of how cricket became India’s “religion without rituals,” and why hockey, though respected, never achieved the same grip on the nation’s soul.

Episode 146 - What if India had no trains? - Exploring the Indian Railways!04 juil. 202600:09:53

For over 170 years, trains have carried people, goods, and stories across the subcontinent. India’s railways are more than steel tracks and locomotives — they are the veins of a nation. In this episode, we journey through the history and significance of Indian Railways: from the first passenger train between Bombay and Thane in 1853, to the sprawling network of over 68,000 kilometers today.

We’ll explore how the railways stitched together distant regions, enabled farmers to reach new markets, and gave pilgrims access to holy cities. We’ll look at iconic trains like the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway and the Palace on Wheels, as well as everyday journeys where strangers share food and stories.

Beyond transport, the railways became a cultural symbol — immortalized in Bollywood songs, literature, and the soundscape of whistles and chai vendors. Economically, they remain the backbone of industry, moving coal, steel, and food grains. Politically, they symbolize unity in diversity, carrying millions daily across caste, class, and region.

From colonial beginnings to modernization projects like metros and bullet trains, Indian Railways embody both tradition and progress. This is the story of how trains became not just a mode of travel, but a mirror of India itself.

We’ll explore how Indian immigrants shaped Silicon Valley, how Bollywood and Hollywood influence each other, and why the world’s oldest democracy and the world’s largest democracy often find common ground.

We’ll also look at the challenges — trade disputes, visa debates, and differing foreign policy priorities — and how both nations continue to navigate them.

Episode 142 - 22 Official, 450 Spoken: Why India Can’t Be Defined by One Language01 juil. 202600:07:18

India doesn’t just speak in one voice—it sings in hundreds. But why does this country have so many languages, and how have they survived side by side for centuries?

Geography, migration, culture, and politics all played a role in shaping this vibrant mosaic.

India is often described in sweeping phrases—“the world’s largest democracy,” “a land of festivals,” “a country of contrasts.” But can any single story truly capture what India is? In this episode, we explore why India resists simple definitions. From its dozens of languages and countless traditions to its layered histories and diverse communities, India is a place where every narrative is incomplete without another.

This episode asks: why do we keep searching for one story, when perhaps India’s strength lies in having many? Through examples from culture, politics, and everyday life, we uncover how India’s complexity is not a problem to solve, but a reality to embrace.

Join us as we reflect on what it means to live in a country that cannot be summed up in a single sentence—and why that might be the most powerful story of all.

Episode 122- Future Frames - The Myths Of Whose In Charge.18 janv. 202600:12:39

Who really runs the world?
Governments? Big companies? International organisations? Or someone else entirely?

In this episode of Kidacity, we break down the biggest myths about power — from “governments control everything” to “tech companies rule the world” and “ordinary people don’t matter.” Using real-world examples from technology regulation, global institutions, and public movements, we explore how power actually works today.

Instead of rulers, the modern world is shaped by systems — political, economic, technological, and cultural — where governments, companies, institutions, and people constantly interact and influence outcomes.

This episode isn’t about conspiracy theories or simple answers. It’s about understanding how the world negotiates with itself — and why that understanding matters, especially for young people growing up in an increasingly complex global system.

Welcome to Kidacity.
Where curiosity is power.

Until next week - goodbye and Jai Hindh from Kidacity!

Episode 121- Future Frames -Who owns the future?11 janv. 202600:10:17

I created Future Frames because I don’t want to grow up reacting to the world—I want to understand it early. We live in a time where technology is rewriting how we work, money is changing how power flows, and global decisions made far away quietly shape our everyday lives. Yet most young people are never taught how these systems actually function or why they matter. Future Frames is my attempt to change that.

Through this platform, I explore the forces shaping the future—artificial intelligence, geopolitics, economics, innovation, and society—from a youth perspective that is curious, critical, and globally aware. I break down complex topics into clear ideas, connect headlines to long-term consequences, and ask questions that are often ignored: Who benefits from change? Who is left behind? And what does all of this mean for our generation?

Rather than chasing trends, Future Frames focuses on patterns. It looks at how history, policy, technology, and human behavior intersect to shape what comes next. I use real-world examples, research, and conversations with experts to move beyond surface-level explanations and encourage deeper thinking.

At its core, Future Frames is about building perspective. It’s about learning to think independently, understand power structures, and see opportunities where others see uncertainty. I believe the future belongs to those who prepare for it early—and this is my way of doing exactly that.

Episode 120- The Brand New Season 12 Trailer!02 janv. 202600:04:33

Namaste and welcome back to Kidacity and a very happy New Year!!

This season, I’m rethinking how we talk about the world.

In this trailer, I introduce the reinvented Kidacity — a podcast now built around three big umbrella themes that shape our lives far more than we realise: Geopolitics, Money & Business, and Technology & the Future. Instead of racing through headlines, I slow things down to explore how power works, how decisions are made, and how global systems quietly affect everyday life.

January is all about Geopolitics. Through a new format called Future Frames, I dive deep into big questions — why countries fight, why they don’t always, who really holds power, and whether ideas like war being “inevitable” actually hold up. Along the way, I unpack hidden stories, bust common myths, and speak to experts who help make sense of the world beyond the news cycle.

This season is curious, thoughtful, and playful by design. It’s about asking better questions, connecting the dots, and learning how the world really works — not just memorising what happened.

Welcome to the new chapter of Kidacity.
This is Future Frames: The Geopolitics Edition.

Episode 119 : Growing Up To Be - Creative, Local, Proud - The story of a Bukhara Artisan29 déc. 202500:11:38

Namaste! Welcome back to Kidacity! In this episode, I’m bringing you something a little different as part of Growing Up To Be!. Instead of a big-city profession or a high-profile career, we’re stepping into the quiet, narrow streets of Bukhara, Uzbekistan, to meet someone whose work carries centuries of history.

During my winter break travels through Central Asia, I stumbled upon a small studio that read Miniature Paintings. Inside, I met Mr. Mir Sharif, a third-generation papier-mâché artist and painter. In this episode, you’ll hear a short recorded conversation with him, where he talks about continuing his family’s legacy, the challenges of working with papier-mâché today, and why the Tree of Life is such an important symbol in his art.

Beyond the recording, I also share stories from our longer conversation—about patience, preserving local culture, and why not every meaningful career needs to be loud or glamorous. I connect his story to artisans from around the world, showing how similar legacies exist across cultures.

If you’ve ever wondered what it means to truly carry forward tradition—or how everyday crafts shape identity—this episode is for you.

Until next week, goodbye, and Jai Hindh from Kidacity!
