Edgar Wright's Stephen King Adaptation Ranked In this Stephen King podcast episode, Lou, Jesse, and Karen review Edgar Wright's 2025 film adaptation of The Running Man, comparing it to the 1987 movie and discussing how its lighter "popcorn thriller" tone affects the story's darker authoritarian-media satire. They appreciated the acting of Bruce Boxleitner and Melissa Gilbert, and noted the emotional manipulation of Anna. The group also discussed the symbolic use of a broken globe and the progress in the storyline where information was no longer withheld from John. They concluded that the episode was powerful and provided great content for the actors to explore
