Every one of us, if you’ve been in the church for very long, have seen various ways sin can be dealt with… some can be healthy, and some that make you just cringe and want to hide under a rock. In this week’s episode I tackle a topic that has made National news as a Pastor confessed to his congregation about some unwise chatting online. He was removed from leadership, but upon closer look it appears no sin was committed, just some unwise conversation, and yet the vulnerability of the situation was broadcast to the entire church and now the nation’s watching eyes… who of course are not being gracious about it. My question became this: when did the church develop the practice of “broadcasting sin” and where did we pick up that thinking? And is it right, or the way Jesus would handle it? (Because it reminds me a lot of how the Pharisees preferred to deal with people.). So, since we all have to deal with sin in one way or another and have possibly wondered if our own sin should be broadcast when we make a mistake, I decided to do a deep dive on what DOES Jesus say, and how might he have handled this Pastor’s exit from leadership. I think this episode will bring some clarity, and even better, introduce some grace into the conversation of how to deal with a believer’s sin in a way that heals, and doesn’t do further harm. We have all felt like a failure-of-a-parent at one time or another, especially when viewing the behavior of our children. In today’s episode, staying consistent with the theme of February which is nurturing the relationships in your life, I’m going to talk about how to nurture your relationship with your child and deal with their misbehavior at the same time. There’s some really, really practical stuff in here teaching you as a parent how to stay calm and be angry less, how to model for your child regulating your emotions, and then lots of practical suggestions on how to nurture connection in super simple ways with your child. There’s a lot of gold here and much of the content you’ll find in this episode is pulled from the book “Peaceful Parent, Happy Kids: How to Stop Yelling & Start Connectint” by Dr. Laura Markham. ABOUT TODAY'S EPISODE:

When imposter syndrome is persistent, and almost harrassing in your mind, it's possible that you may be dealing with a spiritual problem. When that's the case, there's a similar but specific approach needed. Here's the process I describe in the episode... let's jump in!

The four steps described in the episode:

1.  Set aside time to journal/write because this allows your brain to more easily break up with wrong thinking.

2. I then ask the lord what lie/lies I am believing that are causing me to feel like an imposter.

3. I also ask him if there is anyone I need to forgive, or words I've spoken that have created this reality for me. Write them down.

4. Then I ask the Lord "what is the truth that combats that lie?" And I write down the truths that I'm to replace the lies with.

After I've repented, I bind the spirit that has been harrassing me and loose the opposite spirit. (ex: bind spirit of fear and harrassment, loose a spirit of peace, love of God and a sound mind.)

. Everyone wants peace. This is why we choose to be around or not be around certain people. This is why we choose certain types of entertainment, or why we enjoy atmospheres that are soothing and calming. Life naturally brings stressors, and we are subconsciously always pursuing the balance and safety that peace brings. In today’s episode, I’m going to provide you with simple tools to defeat stress and anxiety, and find a renewed sense of peace, no matter what life throws at you. Let’s dive in! The CLUTCH Process I described in the episode was inspired by and taken from the model created by Dr. Caroline Leaf in her app “Neurocycle”. Here is the process if you’d like to get some deeply rooted fears or wrong beliefs rebuilt in a healthy way. CLUTCH C-alm your mind with simple breathing. 3-4 counts inhale, 3-4 hold, 3-4 exhale, 3-4 hold. L-ist your most pressing/gripping concern or fear on paper. Consider a brainstorm web style if it helps. T-hink it through & write it down. That core belief at the center, and draw a line off of it with the bolded words below in a new bubble. What emotions do I experience as a result? What behaviors do I demonstrate as a result of this thought? What beliefs/attitudes have grown in me by this belief? How do I treat others differently as a result of this belief? How has this belief made me different than how I was before? Include a list of Triggers that cause this belief to flare up. C-heck out what you just wrote. Review it. H-appy thoughts to rewire your mind. Do this three to seven times where you take one minute and review what you just wrote down, and at the end, intentionally think of something that gives you a happy or satisfied feeling. You can look at pictures of a family vacation, or just imagine a funny moment. Picture a rose, or a sunset, or your baby’s face. This causes those negative feelings and emotions to be replaced by positive ones and allows you to begin to restructure your brain.

She asked how I handle it, so I wrote up some action steps I take to deal with it, and she said, "This was SO HELPFUL. Have you done an episode on it yet?" I said, "well, no, I haven't! Good idea!" So here we are, in a series on IMPOSTER SYNDROME! This is something I really began to experience when I stepped into podcasting and business (aka: out of my comfort zone), but have come to realize EVERYONE deals with it. So, we are going to identify in today's episode, five hidden triggers of imposter syndrome to help you identify it before you spiral, as well as some solutions on how to heal those patterns.
