While Lara is deep into producing our tenth season which will be a dive into the business of illustration, we’re going back to our beloved Open Tabs format for our ninth season. Loosely based on our popular event series with the same name, for the rest of our ninth season, Lara and myself will be coming together each week and going through some of our own open browser tabs, providing an insight into the creative industry from our unique points of view, as well as the google search results that offer an uncomfortably intimate portrait of our inner lives. Or at least mine. Using the internet as our lens, we hope to explore a variety of current events, opinions, and tools to provide thought-provoking conversation for anyone whose job it is to bring creative things to life, but mostly it’s a chance for us to talk a lot of jazz. Remember! We are now an ENHANCED podcast. | 099 - Producing Architecture with Imogen Pullar | 15 Nov 2019 | 00:45:26
This week, it’s all about Producing Architecture, and I’m delighted to say that we’re joined by the excellent Imogen Pullar. Imogen is an architect based right here in Melbourne. For the better part of a decade, she worked at Nest Architects, which is where we met her while she was working on our, at the time, new Jacky Winter offices! There she was running large-scale projects for government and educational institutions, as well as homes for private clients. Around three years ago, she became a mother and, needing more flexibility in her life, she started her own solo practice. With a particular interest in housing and projects that nurture community and the environment, working on her own practice allows Imogen to focus on the things that are truly important to her, such as having an inclusive design process that broadens the accessibility of architects for all sorts of people; having an ethical approach to her designs, suppliers and materials, to work towards a healthy future for the inhabitants and the world around us; and educating clients on the benefits of designing homes that fulfil those values.

| 098 - Producing Shoes with Vanissa Antonious | 08 Nov 2019 | 00:39:04 | |
This week, it’s all about Producing Shoes, and I’m stoked to say that we’re joined by the remarkable Vanissa Antonious. Vanissa is the co-founder and creative director of the UK-based women’s footwear brand NEOUS, which she launched in 2017. Leading up to that, she spent eight years as a fashion stylist for Harper’s Bazaar Australia and UK, as well as doing freelance styling and consulting. Taking what she’d seen and learnt throughout her successful career, Vanissa knew she could create something unique that women were craving – and let me tell you, I’ve been craving these shoes since she put her first lookbook out. They are stunning and I’ve never seen anything else quite like them. All made in Italy, these shoes are all about accessible, durable, comfortable luxury. Vanissa also happens to be the partner of Jacky Winter artist, Timba Smits, and the two recently collaborated to create the most beautiful printed boot for the new collection.

| 096 - Producing Video Games with Trent Kusters | 25 Oct 2019 | 00:52:25 | |
This week, it’s all about Producing Video Games, and we're jazzed to say that we’re joined by the masterful Trent Kusters. Trent is the co-founder and production director of Melbourne-based game developers League of Geeks, responsible for digital role-playing strategy board game and international success story, Armello. He is also on the board of Freeplay (Australia's largest and longest running independent games festival), the chair of RMIT's Program Advisory Committee, a former lecturer at the Victorian College of the Arts, and an industry advisor to DiGRA Australia. A frequent name on the numerous 30 Under 30 lists — by the likes of MCV, Develop, Triple J, the Melbourne Writers Festival, and (the big one) Forbes — Trent is heavily invested in the future of video games as a medium; fostering and mentoring young and under-represented developers, and contributing to the community wherever possible. To cap things off, he’s also currently gamerunner on the studio’s ambitious next game, which is set to be one of Australia's largest game productions ever. Remember! We are now an ENHANCED podcast. | 095 - Producing Fashion Photography with Eliza Hoyland | 18 Oct 2019 | 00:33:32
This week, it’s all about Producing Fashion Photography, and I’m chuffed to say that we’re joined by the fabulous Eliza Hoyland. Eliza is an Australian Producer and Photographer, living and working in New York. Whilst producing for some of the highest fashion industry brands and magazines like Vogue, Fenty, Harpers Bazaar, Alexander Wang and Moncler you’ll find her running around set with a big red lipstick smile, dealing out instructions or dancing around with the celebrity talent. Now, Eliza and I met on a train around ten years ago and have been friends ever since, so it doesn’t surprise me whatsoever that her speciality of creating instant personal connections with clients and artists has built her a reputation as a truly "one of a kind" producer. And since moving to New York 6 years ago, Eliza’s tales about the insane world of fashion photography production have given me life. Remember! We are now an ENHANCED podcast. | 094 - Producing Software with Virginia Murdoch | 11 Oct 2019 | 00:34:58
This week, it’s all about Producing Software, and we're over the moon to say that we’re joined by the fantastic Virginia Murdoch. Virginia is the Director of Product at Culture Amp — a Melbourne HR startup that provides employee feedback technology that helps their 2,500 customers in 47 countries transform, maintain and scale positive company culture. Founded in 2009, Culture Amp has since expanded its offices to San Francisco, New York and London, with 400 staff members globally, and just this past September they raised $82 million US dollars in Series E funding. Impressive. Just as impressive is Virginia herself — now 3 years in at Culture Amp, she previously ran her own web agency, Inventive Labs, which along with doing lots of work for local booksellers and publishers (like Readings and Scribe), also created a number of the early iterations of the Jacky Winter website! She and her team built Book.ish, a product that allowed people to read ebooks in their web browsers, before selling the company to OverDrive, where Virginia then headed to serve as their product manager for a few years. She’s also on the board of the not-for-profit group Women and Mentoring, which provides support to women who are coming into contact with the justice system; helping them stay on track and avoid custodial sentences. | 107 - Roast potatoes for the people | 28 Feb 2020 | 00:34:35
While Lara is deep into producing our tenth season which will be a deep dive into the business of illustration, we’re going back to our beloved Open Tabs format for our ninth season. Using the internet as our lens, we hope to explore a variety of current events, opinions, and tools to provide thought-provoking conversation for anyone whose job it is to bring creative things to life, but mostly it’s a chance for us to talk a lot of claptrap. This week! We’re going through our open tabs and will be discussing machines replacing our memories, Reviving the Idea of the Medieval Guild, and FINALLY, our newly launched campaign, Use It Or Lose It. Helping us bring some outside perspective today is our special guest Stanislava Pinchuk, AKA Miso. Stanislava, as well as being a close friend of the show, is a uniquely talented and fascinating artist, well known for her work with data mapping the changing topographies of war & conflict zones – such as the current Civil War in her home country Ukraine, the Fukushima and Chernobyl Reactor 4 Nuclear Exclusion Zones, the oil fires set by ISIS south of Mosul, and the Calais ‘Jungle’ Migrant Camp. She produces drawings, installations and sculptures shown in museums globally, and her work has been collected and supported by institutions such as the Louvre, the National Gallery of Australia, Heide MoMA, and Sydney’s Museum of Contemporary Art. On the commercial end, she’s worked with clients such as Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Gucci, Apple & Nike – and she has also just topped the Forbes 30 Under 30 List. While Lara is deep into producing our tenth season which will be a deep dive into the business of illustration, we’re going back to our beloved Open Tabs format for our ninth season. Using the internet as our lens, we hope to explore a variety of current events, opinions, and tools to provide thought-provoking conversation for anyone whose job it is to bring creative things to life, but mostly it’s a chance for us to talk a lot of nonsense. Remember! We are now an ENHANCED podcast. This week! We’re going through our open tabs and will be discussing how an artist’s social networks affects their fame, the instagram era of book design, and what happens when your work is also your hobby. Helping us bring some outside perspective today is our special guests Jess Cruickshank. Jess is a brilliantly talented letterer and illustrator living in Sydney. Originally a designer working in advertising, she joined the Jacky Winter roster in 2015 and has been drawing for her supper ever since. Jess's work can be seen across a variety of media, from editorial illustrations to hand painted typefaces to murals and animated gifs. Most recently, she's been working on lots of book covers — a natural fit for her double-threat skill set of both lettering and illustration. Some publishers she's worked for include Penguin Random House, Harper Collins, Hachette and Simon & Schuster. We’re so excited to have her with us today, especially because she often gives us the best food for thought on our various slack channels. Remember! We are now an ENHANCED podcast. | 065 - It doesn’t matter how long you take a dip for, you’re still gonna get wet (with Matt Huynh) | 21 Dec 2018 | 00:58:49
This week! We’re going through our open tabs and will be discussing Brandless Brands, Mental Health in the Advertising Industry, and one of the largest art projects which has never exhibited. Helping us bring some outside perspective today is our special guest Matt Huynh. Matt is a visual artist and storyteller based in New York City. His bold brush and ink paintings are informed by poetic Eastern sumi-e ink traditions and popular contemporary Western comic books. His animation, paintings and comics interrogate war, diaspora, refugees, asylum seekers and migrant communities. Huynh's work has been exhibited by the MoMA, The Smithsonian, The Sydney Opera House, Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Academy of Music and New York Historical Society. His clients include the Washington Post, New York Times and The Atlantic. His most recent work on the world's first Instagram documentary with SBS was about the Rohingya refugee crisis and was nominated for a Walkley Award for Excellence in Journalism. Remember! We are now an ENHANCED podcast.
