He continues to thrive in the ocean as a master of tandem, canoe surfing, big-wave riding, and tow-in surfing and has over 500 awards in these fields. The former Hokule’a crewmember also is a professional stuntman and stunt coordinator.

Chad Owens grew up on Oahu and was played professional Canadian football wide receiver. He attended Roosevelt High School before graduating from the University of Hawai’i. Owens played for the University of Hawaii’s Rainbow Warriors as a wide receiver from 2001-2004 where he still holds the record as Hawaii’s all-time yardage leader. In 2010 Owens was signed as a receiver for The Toronto Argonauts and played six seasons with them, breaking records for all-purpose yards and winning the CFL Most Outstanding Player Award in 2012 as well as rated the best player in the league on the TSN Top 50 players. Kong was the most listened to broadcaster on KIKI-FM and worked alongside Michael W. Perry on KKUA. Andy was one of Hawaii’s first stand-up comedians to take his act on the road nationally! There has never been a comic force in Hawaii quite like him. He has opened for Tom Jones, Kenny Loggins, Natalie Cole, Lionel Richie, Paul Anka, Cool & the Gang, and Charlie Daniels. Andy has headlined at every major comedy club in the U.S. and even had his own shows in Las Vegas! We all probably remember him from the release of his TV special “High School Daze” and the classic “All in the Ohana.”

Amy Hill got her big break on Margret Cho’s sitcom All-American Girl where she played the role of Grandma Kim. She has been on films such as Next Friday, Max Keeble’s Big Move, Big Fat Liar, The Cat in the Hat, Lilo and Stitch, Big Gay Love, 50 First Dates, and many many more. She had roles on television shows such as Night Court, Six Feet Under, Desperate Housewives, Two and a Half Men, 3rd Rock from the Sun, and My Wife and Kids. As a voice actor, Amy also worked on several animated series including Lilo & Stitch: The Series, American Dad!, and Kung Fu Panda. She has undergraduate and graduate degrees in Hawaiian Studies from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, and is ABD in the History department of the University of California – Irvine. She became a Kumu Hula in 2016 through the traditional practice of ʻūniki ʻailolo. Makanani is also an educator, having taught Hawaiian history, mythology, hula, and ʻōlelo at both the secondary and tertiary levels. Makanani’s ʻohana comes from Nāhiku, Maui and Kalaoa, Hawaiʻi, but she was born and raised in Hālawa, Oʻahu.
