Former Israeli spokesman Eylon Levy has been the global media’s #1 address for understanding Israel’s perspective in the October 7 War with Hamas. In the State of a Nation podcast, Eylon brings his idiosyncratic blend of “eloquence and ability to transmit outrage” (The Times) and “rhetorical tour de force” (The Guardian) to his exclusive channel, to explore the most pressing questions facing the Jewish state – and all with patience and panache.

State of a Nation takes you into the spokesperson’s briefing notes, delving into the real stories and their surprising details. The series invites listeners into insider conversations with thinkers, policymakers, and media personalities — conversations that take you between the lines and beyond the headlines.

A Mother’s Fight: Leah Goldin’s 10-Year Battle to Rescue Her Son from Hamas's Dungeons

Season 1 · Episode 39

mercredi 4 septembre 2024Duration 01:11:09

Send us a text

For ten years, Leah Goldin's son Hadar has been held by the Hamas terror regime after being killed and abducted during a ceasefire in 2014. In this emotional and powerful episode of "State of a Nation," Leah shares her family's relentless struggle to bring Hadar's remains back to Israel for a proper burial. She discusses the challenges they've faced, including judicial, political and business interests that have hindered their efforts, and the broader implications of the Israeli government's policies toward Gaza. Leah also reflects on the impact of the October 7th massacre, which led to hundreds of new hostages, and how her family has worked tirelessly to support other affected families. Join us as Leah calls on the international community to take action and explains what each of us can do to help bring all the hostages home.

The story of Hadar Goldin serves as a cautionary tale for anyone sufficiently naive enough to think a terrorist army would respect a ceasefire.

Please watch, share, and support the fight to free the hostages.

Violence Pays - The 1936 Arab "Revolt" | Oren Kessler on what the FIRST First Intifada taught the Arabs

Season 1 · Episode 29

mercredi 3 juillet 2024Duration 54:36

Send us a text

Hamas supporters' favorite equivocation is "History didn't start on Oct 7".  While cynical and sinster in its intent, this statement is, of course, technically true. But a closer examination of the full history of the conflict, only further exposes the violent Islamist culture at the root of it.

For this discussion we are joined by Oren Kessler, a journalist, political analyst, and author of the acclaimed book Palestine 1936, recently awarded the Sami Rohr Prize for Jewish Literature. His book explores the much-forgotten Arab Revolt of 1936-1939, a violent uprising against the British Mandate and Jewish immigration that you might even call the real first intifada.

What has changed since then? What hasn’t? And how do the dynamics of the Arab war against any Jewish presence in this land, way back in 1936, still reverberate in the Middle East today?

In this conversation, we'll discuss Israel's withdrawal from Gaza in 2005, the Oslo Accords, the Six Day War of 1967, and the Arab rebellion of 1936-1939 — a pivotal but often overlooked period of violent upheaval against British rule and Jewish immigration.

Join us as Eylon Levy and Oren Kessler unravel how the echoes of past conflicts continue to reverberate in the Middle East today. Gain insights into the untold stories and historical truths that shape the complexities of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Don't miss this enlightening discussion on the "Israel: State of the Nation."

I Could Have Been a Houthi | Luai Ahmed escaped Islamist Yemen to become a pro-Israel peace advocate

Season 1 · Episode 28

mardi 25 juin 2024Duration 55:44

Send us a text

Luai Ahmed was raised in the most fundamentalist Islamist culture in Yemen, where hatred of Jews, gays, and Kafirs was not only preached, but practiced.  When he realized that he himself was gay, he had to plot an escape.

In this riveting interview, Ahmed recounts his extraordinary journey from his upbringing in Yemen where he was inches from becoming a Houthi himself, and the ideas beliefs his family and friends still hold, to his new life as an advocate for peace and understanding in Sweden.

He describes the shock and fear of meeting a Jew for the first time, the realities of Sweden's refugee camps as Islamists indoctrination mills, the tragedy and perversion of Sweden's support in the Middle East, and much more.

He is fierce critic of Europe's simplistic approach to multiculturalism and immigration, with a unique perspective on the challenges of integration, and the dangers of domestic radicalization.  He eloquently points out the hypocrisy in Western media and political discourse, where issues like the persecution of Jews in Malmö by immigrants are underreported or ignored due to fears of being labeled racist.

Ahmed calls for more balanced and honest discussions about these issues to foster a more inclusive and understanding society, and today he fights alongside Israeli friends for democracy, human rights, and a peaceful future for our region—an activist in the “Builders of the Middle East” movement on social media.

The Power of Satire | Daniel-Ryan Spaulding's FABULOUS videos don't just mock, they de-indoctrinate

Season 1 · Episode 27

jeudi 20 juin 2024Duration 39:40

Send us a text

Comedian Daniel-Ryan Spaulding was living in the heart of Berlin's libertine arts and culture crowd, when a chance encounter with some Israelis, and ensuing visits to the country transformed everything he had come to believe about Israel.

He was back in NYC on Oct 7, and as the details of the Hamas's horrific invasion unfolded, he realized he had found a new calling.  As a self described Power Gay, Daniel took on the mission of communicating the truth about Israel and the erupting war of civilizations to the queer world and beyond.

Drawing on his personal experiences, his education, a healthy dose common sense, and the rarest of human traits -  bravery - Daniel began posting selfie videos that exposed the hypocrisy and ignorance he witnessed all around him.

The videos became a international viral sensation, and his excoriating, withering put downs of those celebrating Hamas atrocities forced liberals around the world to realize:  if you support liberation and equality against violence and oppression, Israel’s fight is your fight.

The NGO Racket: Lawfare, Newspeak, and Corruption | Prof. Gerald Steinberg's NGO Monitor exposes the seedy underbelly of "Human Rights Organizations"

Season 1 · Episode 26

vendredi 14 juin 2024Duration 55:24

Send us a text

Since October 7, Israel has been saying it’s fighting FOR humanity, on the frontlines of humanity, but in the information war—Israel’s own humanity is being called into question. And that charge is being led by NGOs with ideological agendas that pass themselves off as great defenders of humanity, with names like Save the Children, Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International. They have been active combatants in the information war against Israel. Amplifying some of the worst lies and propaganda against Israel. Failing to stand up for the victims of Oct. 7th. Failing to fight from the hostages. Even allegedly taking funding from the Saudis and Qataris.

Today’s guest is pushing back. Because if sunlight is the best disinfectant, then shedding light on these NGOs’ funding and practices should expose all the dirt. Professor Gerald Steinberg, founder and president of NGO Monitor, has spent his life challenging the global system of anti-Israel NGOs. NGO Monitor has worked for years to hold the watchdogs accountable and warn Israel’s supporters of the damage that they are doing by abusing the banner of human rights. Israel is losing the information war, thanks to the political activities of these NGOs. What can it do to turn the tide?

Debating Israel | Internet sensation Destiny on how the conflict takes shape online

Season 1 · Episode 25

lundi 10 juin 2024Duration 46:37

Send us a text

Hamas is waging two wars against Israel. There is a physical war and there is an information war, which is no less important. Because Hamas has been waging a brutal psyops campaign against Israel, spreading lie by lie to poison global public opinion against Israel. And that information war is designed to make Israel’s friends turn against it, fracture its alliances, and leave it weaker and more isolated on the global stage. And with misinformation running rampant across the internet, now is more important than ever to nail down the facts.

Steven Bonnell II, better known as Destiny, is an online professional gamer turned political commentator. A man who has leveraged his following and passion for research into a career debating politics on the internet. He is here in Israel for the first time, here to learn, here to be challenged, and in this episode we sit down for a fast-paced conversation about why it’s so easy for Hamas to game public opinion.

Freedom is a Burden | Bernard-Henri Lévy on what Ails The West, and the Courage We Need To Save Liberty

Season 1 · Episode 24

mercredi 5 juin 2024Duration 52:12

Send us a text

Bernard Henri Levy, or BHL, is a French philosopher, journalist, filmmaker, and public intellectual. He’s a leading member of the Nouveaux Philosophes movement, but not up in an ivory tower, traveling to warzones to bear witness and write history. His latest book, Solitude of Israel, is set for release in English later this year, reflecting on thoughts that have troubled him since October 7.

When Hamas shocked the world with the October 7 Massacre, Israel felt embraced as never before. World leaders flew in to bear witness and express solidarity. Parliament buildings lit up in the colors of the Israeli flag. Israelis thought - that’s it, this time the world gets it and will back us as we fight for humanity against Hamas, as we fight to bring the hostages home. That optimism has given way to a sense of betrayal. The knowledge that the world wants to end this war with Hamas on its feet - and undermining Israel’s leverage to get the hostages back. SOLITUDE is Israel’s condition, but must it be its fate?

There is little doubt that Israel is losing the global battle for the hearts and minds of Gen Z.
