Netflix dropped the rest of Love Is Blind UK season three in one go, so we went through episodes three to eight couple by couple. The wedding episodes are not covered here, those are next. Full spoilers throughout for everything up to the weddings.
This is Shelly's first non-American reality show, and the thing that threw her is how calm it is. She kept waiting for someone to fly into a rage and nobody did. People disagree, get upset, and then land on some version of we can agree to disagree and move on. No yelling, no drinks thrown.
Neil's counterpoint runs through the whole episode. He thinks the UK version is just as toxic, only quieter. Nobody is having the real conversation. What you get instead is the backhanded compliment, the subtle undermining, the thing said politely that would start a fight if anyone said it plainly. Calm is not the same as healthy.
Then we go couple by couple. Sophie and Taylor stay the boring golden couple, and the running joke about him being the number one tour guide in London does not get old. Yasmin and Jordan is where it turns uncomfortable, because he cancelled the wedding without ever saying he did not want her, and we both think that is worse rather than kinder. Ciara and Ajay is the money argument again, this time about what her minimum expectation for a first date actually tells you, and Neil ends up admitting Ajay is doing the small things right. Ryan and Cuba produces the sharpest read of the night: Ryan explains he needs days to recover after performing, and Neil points out that Cirque du Soleil does it seven nights a week in Vegas.
Jack and Faye is the disaster, and it is worth the wait. The Find My Friends explanation, the walk that somehow needed an Uber home, and a phone he would not let her look at. Neil lays out how you know when someone is lying, which is that the story makes no logical sense and they keep telling it anyway. Joseph and Francesca closes things out with the messiest scene of the season and a piece of advice worth more than the episode: if you are trying to logic someone into liking you, you have already lost.
