STEVE MARCH-TORMÉ and MICHAEL MURPHY introduce "Dalton Diamond"11 Jun 202501:01:50

Text us about this show.

Steve March-Tormé and Michael Murphy return to Into The Music to introduce you to the title character of their new album, Dalton Diamond. This is an album just over four decades in the making having originated in a West Los Angeles bedroom as the idea of Steve along with his friend, Craig Copeland. In the mid 1980s, nine of the album's were written by Steve and Craig and two additional songs that round out the narrative were written forty years later by Steve and Michael. The feel of the album harkens back to the 1970s southern California country rock of the Eagles, J.D. Souther, Jackson Browne, and The Flying Burrito Brothers to name a handful of Dalton's influences. This episode serves as a preview of the album and Steve and Michael throw in a live performance for good measure. Enjoy!

ARILYA: This husband and wife duo are serving up some heavy pop with "Red Flags"21 Nov 202300:34:14

Text us about this show.

Arilya is the husband and wife duo of Nic and Sandi Hermann. They are a band on the rise bringing their brand of "heavy pop" to the masses. Heavy pop you ask? Think Fickle Friends meets Foo Fighters. That's the way Nic describes it and he couldn't have hit it and squarer on the head. Their latest single, "Red Flags," overflows with all sorts of pop sensibilities combined with dynamic vocals by Sandi and enough crunchy guitars to satisfy hard rock fans. Born out of adversity, "Red Flags" shows how Nic and Sandi are stronger together not just as musical partners in Arilya, but husband and wife. We also discuss the brand new video for "Red Flags" which is highly recommended viewing!

JACKSON MANKOWSKI: singing and songwriting from the soul07 Nov 202300:40:41

Text us about this show.

Jackson Mankowski grew up in a prominent musical home in Wisconsin (his dad is jazz saxophonist, Woody Mankowski). His formative years were filled with all sorts of classic music, so it's hardly a surprise that Jackson would become a musician himself. He's been around long enough to have experienced a lot that life throws at a person and it's evident in his songwriting. He writes, sings, and plays from the soul and as time progresses, that soulfulness in his songs only gets richer and deeper. Get to know Jackson Mankowski and hear the premiere of his new single, "Giving In."

MICHAEL MURPHY: This young guitar slinger has an old musical soul and the album to prove it01 Nov 202300:55:17

Text us about this show.

Michael Murphy returns to Into The Music not only to recap the Tumbleweed Re-Connection concerts, but to give us the inside scoop on his new album, Indigo Jones. When you hear Michael's songs, you'd swear they were written by folks with years more experience under their belts. On top of that, Michael is a top notch musician, vocalist, and performer. When you have the cred to pull Eric Johnson's drummer into your debut album, that alone speaks volumes. Michael Murphy has a lot to say and he's saying it with his heart and soul through his music.

JAY STULO is here to take a deep dive into the blues—it's history, players, and traditions31 Oct 202300:44:29

Text us about this show.

Jay Stulo isn't just one of the most talented blues guitarists you'll hear today, he's also a student of the genre. One of the reasons Jay is able to play with the passion and heart that he does goes back to learning the history of the blues and a plethora of its most storied players. It becomes an understanding of the foundations of blues music and its traditions (Delta, Chicago, Texas, British, etc.). Whether any number of guitarists (T-bone Walker to Jeff Beck to Derek Trucks) or other instrumentalists (harmonica players like Sonny Boy Williamson, Little Walter, and Paul Butterfield), the rich traditions of the blues continue to grow and flourish. Join us as we take a deep dive into the blues and even take in a couple tracks by Jay.

BRAD BORDINI is all about living life to the fullest and making music that reflects it25 Oct 202300:42:22

Text us about this show.

Brad Bordini is a liver of life in the truest sense and it comes through his music in spades. Part of the burgeoning northeast Wisconsin singer-songwriter scene, Brad is sort of a hidden gem whose time it is to be discovered. His songs have a lot of heart and deep meaning. Sometimes they're heavy, sometimes a bit more whimsical, but that's life and Brad does an outstanding job bringing these qualities to his songs. We listen not only to a cut from his first album, but we have an exclusive premiere of the first single from his forthcoming album The Voices In My Head, "The Strangers We Know."

AMELIA FORD is rockin' it hard with her new single, "Happy Now"24 Oct 202300:37:03

Text us about this show.

Amelia Ford is an artist that simply refuses to be pigeon holed. Although a singer-songwriter at heart, her latest songs show steady growth as a writer but sonically they completely break the mold from what was previously established. Her new single, "Happy Now," rocks hard and we find out just why it does. With the success that Amelia's previous single, "Hate Her," has enjoyed, "Happy Now" has the potential to capitalize on that and then take that success even further. Amelia's husband, Shawn Maass, is on hand to give some insight into the significance of the multiple roles he plays. Amelia and Shawn are a team and there's no telling how far this team will go!

BRYAN MEYERS on being a working drummer in one of the world's largest music markets22 Oct 202300:45:14

Text us about this show.

Bryan Meyers is an exceptionally talented drummer who has put in a lot of time with a lot of different bands. He works out of his Los Angeles area home with a pair of tribute bands (including Dead Man's Party, a tribute to Oingo Boingo) along with a cover band called The Guilty Pleasure Makers. Along with drumming, he has scored music for independent films and written and recorded his own solo material. Bryan doesn't have a name many will recognize, but his experience along with his self-starter can-do attitude is something we can all get something out of. Plus we'll hear a track from his former band, Ashworth, and one of his more recent solo efforts, "Wannabee."

MICHAEL GRABNER is back with his great new single, "Off The Path"10 Oct 202300:32:52

Text us about this show.

Michael Grabner is back on the show with a brilliant brand new single called "Off The Path." Michael is an open book and through his music he conveys his life's journey complete with highs and lows. His performances echo this and, because of the intimacy of a live show, give even deeper meaning to his songs. "Off The Path" is stripped down and heavy both in feel and subject matter, but it's a fantastic song and shows a ton of growth in this outstanding singer-songwriter.

STEVE MARCH-TORMÉ and MICHAEL MURPHY bring you the special concert event TUMBLEWEED Re-CONNECTION03 Oct 202300:44:29

Text us about this show.

When Elton John released his second album, Tumbleweed Connection, in the latter part of 1970, he took a huge gamble on his sophomore effort. Heavily influenced and inspired by The Band's classic debut, Music From Big Pink, and featuring no hit singles, it has come to be hailed as a near perfect album and one of Elton's finest. Steve March-Tormé and Michael Murphy are now bringing the entire album to the stage in the form of Tumbleweed Re-Connection for two nights featuring a stellar band in one of Wisconsin's finest auditoriums. Each show will be like getting a two-for-one concert because they will also be featuring a set of 1970's biggest songs. Listen here to get the inside scoop and all the show information.

JENNA KOPITSKE: This young Nashville multi-instrumentalist and composer is going places!26 Sep 202300:38:14

Text us about this show.

Jenna Kopitske might be young, but she already has a resumé that most folks would give their right arm for. But she's not resting on the successes she's garnered so far. She's a worker. A hard worker. Between composing gorgeous pieces on the piano, working as a touring and session drummer, and recording some exceptional originals, she keeps "riding the wave" to successively bigger things. Jenna is definitely an artist to keep an eye on!

RIC SPATULA ARMSTRONG: Drummer turns seemingly bad breaks into big opportunities13 Sep 202300:34:27

Text us about this show.

Ric Spatula Armstrong has a way of turning losses into gains. He lost his dad, a drummer, when he was five-years-old, yet he turned that into a career in drumming himself and an opportunity to honor his sister. He lost a job due to an economic downturn, yet he turned it into and opportunity to chase a dream in music. He drums for bands like More Then Merry, The Kurt Gunn Band, and Isiah and the New People plus he has a solo gig under the name of Armstrong St. Never count Ric out because if you do, he'll turn it into a wonderful opportunity.

ROBIN PETERS: San Diego manager/promoter discusses saving a historic music venue12 Sep 202300:22:10

Text us about this show.

Robin Peters of Rockin' Robin Productions is a dynamo. She not only manages and promotes a number of San Diego and southern California bands and artists, but she knows how to give back to the community as well. On today's show, we discuss not only her roles as manager and promoter, but a special project she sits on the board of to resurrect a piece of San Diego's music history, the Starlight Bowl Amphitheater. The Starlight Bowl once boasted having the likes of Stevie Ray Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, Bob Dylan, Santana, The Rolling Stones, and so many other top acts grace its stage. Robin tells us about the effort to not only restore it to its former glory, but expand on it to bring the community together.

THE GENTLEMEN GRIFTERS: Americana and bluegrass duo with musical character portraits07 Sep 202300:25:58

Text us about this show.

The Gentlemen Grifters are Shaun Swanson and Mike Goodwin, two guys that like to share a good story through a song. As their bio for the Mile Of Music festival says, their “songs are often tongue-in-cheek portraits of criminals, gamblers, addicts, and drifters.” Think of their songs as short stories and folk tales set to some of the sweetest acoustic music you'll hear. Call it Americana or call it bluegrass, it's beautiful in its simplicity. Music that's genuine, honest, and has nothing to hide behind created by Shaun and Mike (and sometimes their friend, Brent), a couple guys with the heart and chops to do it right.

TIMM BUECHLER: Small town boy on playing bass for respected power pop names on big stages05 Sep 202300:37:44

Text us about this show.

Timm Buechler is one talented guy. He primarily plays bass, something he taught himself out of necessity. However, he also writes, sings, is a graphic artist, and he has a thing for 8-track tapes. He has toured with the likes of Paul Collins and Peter Case, played on sessions for Dwight Twilley, and even met Susanna Hoffs (The Bangles) once. After playing bass in different parts of the world, on national tours, and with several local bands, the cool thing you find about Timm is he's still very much in touch with his roots. Today he shares with us his stories.  And his 8-tracks.

Text us about this show.

Hunter Gatherer. He's a musician who is an observer of not just the obvious, but of those not so obvious little pieces and moments life throws at you. Those observations are often times set to music often in ways that are unexpected. His sound is Americana blending folk, country, and bluegrass with just the right amount of humor. That friendly vibe you catch off of his songs is authentic. He's excited about life and he wants you to know it through each song because there's a wonderful little story in each one. So sit a spell, get to know Hunter Gatherer, and enjoy some of his well crafted music.

MICHAEL GRABNER: A classic country singer-songwriter with depth, heart, and hope31 Aug 202300:36:07

Text us about this show.

Michael Grabner is an artist whose songs you will want to simply reach out and take hold of. For a young man he's done a lot of living and, with that, a lot of learning along the way. Those life experiences are the emotion that fuel the songs on his albums Restart and A Story I Can't Tell as well as his new single, "Deja Vu." Some of Michael's influences go back several decades to early Bob Dylan albums, Neil Young, and Townes Van Zandt and more recently with Elliot Smith. He also has a message of hope because he's a big believer in second chances that lead to a better and fulfilling life.

DENNIS SHEPHERD is back to tell us about his new magnum opus, "Guitar Therapy!"24 Aug 202300:27:25

Text us about this show.

Guitarist Dennis Shepherd returns to the show to tell us all about the magnum opus he was recording when he was here several months back. Clocking in at 7:11, "Guitar Therapy" is a celebration of Dennis's recovery from a potentially career ending wrist injury and the continuation of his ability to play at a high level. It also is an homage to some of Dennis's guitar heroes like Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck, Muddy Waters, Andy Summers, David Gilmour, Chuck Berry, and Eddie Van Halen. It also doesn't hurt when you have Marc Golde recording it at Rock Garden Studio. It's time to celebrate and get into the music with Dennis Shepherd!

KURT GUNN: A singer-songwriter who devotes compassion to his craft17 Aug 202300:40:23

Text us about this show.

Kurt Gunn is a songwriter on another level. His lyrics come across as scenes from a movie, sometimes light and whimsical, other times dark and weighty. Those lyrics are sung with a consistently rich and soulful voice always with depth and clarity. His guitar picking? It's every bit on par with his writing and singing. In other words he's a complete musician, one that more than deserves to be heard. Add to that a library of originals that have earned awards and praise from fans and critics alike, Kurt Gunn is an artist you can't ignore.

KIRSTIE KRAUS: a country star on the rise with some brilliant releases paving the way19 Mar 202500:48:11

Text us about this show.

Kirstie Kraus might be firmly entrenched in the Nashville scene, but she hasn't forgotten her Wisconsin roots. She's equally at home recording solo releases or collaborating with others in Music City (Mark Mulch, Christie Huff, Thomas Kavanaugh) or the Fox Cities (Joe Sly and Fox Menagerie). She made a statement immediately in 2018 with her dance single "Delusional" and from there she migrated into pop-tinged country where she really found her voice. After a strong showing in 2022 with her album Yes You Can, she's ready to drop "Largo" with Mike Nash, a fun and flirty single that will put a smile on plenty of faces.

Carmen Nickerson isn't one to sit back and let the opportunities life presents pass her by especially when those opportunities include music. The TIMOTHYPAUL BAND is writing and playing soulful music from the heart19 Feb 202500:48:43

Text us about this show.

Timothy Donovan cut his musical teeth in Boston where he grew up. He heard the likes of Boston bands like The J. Geils Band, Aerosmith, The Cars, and, of course, Boston, but the local scene also had a band called Orpheus who were regional favorites. After his move to northern New Hampshire, he took time off from music but when he came back to it, he began to forge vital relationships with his co-writers Karen Girard and Willie Cintron. He opened Riverside Recording Studios in Berlin, NH and has now formed the TimothyPaul Band. Tim has taken his 50-plus years of making music and turned it into a career of creating soulful music from the heart. Hear about it here.

NATURAL SATELLITE and SON REIS PROJECT: Two sides of sax player Jason Reisdorf12 Feb 202500:49:55

Text us about this show.

Jason Reisdorf is a brilliant musician. One listen to his two bands, Natural Satellite and Son Reis Project, bears this out. Natural Satellite is a duo with his wife, Karli, who is a cellist and vocalist. They write and perform laid back, jazzy originals that are creative and introspective. Then there's Son Reis Project (SRP), a trio with Jason Goessl on guitar/bass and Ryan Thomas on drums. SRP has both jazz and heavy metal as its foundations and from there it's an experiment in sound that is indescribable. But with Jason as the constant between the two, one thing that's for certain is that both will be interesting. Listen to this episode and find out for yourself.

OUTHOUSE RADIO founder AL LOCKWOOD on what makes his indie radio station unique29 Jan 202500:38:07

Text us about this show.

When creating Outhouse Radio in 2020, Al Lockwood had one rule: break the rules of radio. Being a thirty year radio veteran, his aim was to create a unique radio station that did more than play the top forty and read the weather report. Outhouse Radio doesn't only play today's music, but music from a variety of genres and artists from over the past sixty years! Add on top of that a good variety of programs (including Into The Music!) and personalities and you have one very interesting radio station. But why stop there? Al is a serious supporter of local music scenes all over the world and he's committed to letting these artists shine on Outhouse Radio. Interesting and unique. Who could ask for more?

Want to get your music on Outhouse Radio? Send Al an artist bio, photo, links to your socials, and your music at onair@outhouseradio.com.
