EP89: Chet Sandhu - Becoming Alpha24 Mar 202001:48:52

Chet Sandhu is a former international drug smuggler, author, renowned podcast guest and founder of Alpha CBD+

In November 1999 he was arrested at gunpoint in Alicante Airport and subsequently charged with smuggling the largest haul of black market steroids in Spanish history, valued at more than half a million dollars.

Sentenced to four and a half years in prison, his book ‘From King of Karachi to Lockdown in the Costa Del Crime’ chronicles his life and drug smuggling operation, and tells the story of how he rose to the top of the hierarchy inside Fontcalent, one of Europe's toughest prisons, famed for its brutal conditions and high-profile inmates.

Today he spends his time growing his company Alpha CBD+, one of the newest and fastest growing independent retailers of premium cannabidiol products. His ultimate aim is to provide the UK and European market with the best quality CBD products at the most competitive prices.

Now committed to making a positive difference, he’s given emotional and financial support to orphans, people in poverty and the homeless, he’s carer to four snakes, two Argentine tegu and two tortoises, and his podcast episodes with past Inspired Edinburgh guests James English and Shaun Attwood have been seen nearly a million times.

James W. Jesso is a Canadian-born author, public speaker, educator, storyteller, podcast host and psychonaut.

His work is inspired by his healing path through depression, substance abuse, and trauma, and focuses on translating the profound insights of the psychedelic experience into a higher quality of life, for both the individual and society.

Since 2011 he’s delivered more than one hundred public speaking events spanning across eleven different countries. His two books, 'Decomposing The Shadow' and 'The True Light Of Darkness', present a model for working with the ‘magic’ psilocybin mushroom as an ally in personal transformation and developing psycho-spiritual maturity.

EP65: Mark Beaumont - Around The World In 80 Days20 Jul 201800:57:28

Mark Beaumont is a record-breaking long-distance cyclist, adventurer, broadcaster, documentary maker and author.

At the age of 12 he cycled across Scotland, and by the time he was 15, he had pedalled his way from John O’Groats to Land’s End.

His first major expedition was a decade ago and it was a circumnavigation World Record cycle. The cycle was unsupported and took 82 days off the previous best time, in a journey that was captured for the BBC and in the book ‘The Man who Cycled the World.’

Since then he's continued to make history by: cycling and climbing the Americas; rowing the Arctic; attempting to break the mid Atlantic rowing World Record and surviving a life threatening capsize; leading the BBC coverage ahead of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, and setting a World Record for the fastest sole ride of Africa.

Most recently, inspired by the story by Jules Verne, he undertook an utterly astonishing 'Around the World in 80 Days Challenge' which concluded on the 18th of September 2017, ahead of schedule, completing it in 78 days, 14 hours and 40 minutes - setting two World Records and shattering the previous record by 44 days.

In so doing he raised funds for Orkidstudio, an organisation which aims to benefit communities around the world by providing innovative infrastructure, and he received a British Empire Medal in recognition of his efforts.

EP51: Mostafa Salameh - Dreams Of A Refugee24 Dec 201701:11:36

This week on Inspired Edinburgh we have Mostafa Salameh.

Mostafa is one of only 16 people on the planet to have completed the ‘Explorers Grand Slam’, a truly astonishing feat which involves climbing the Seven highest Summits in all seven continents as well as conquering the North and South Poles.

His journey began in 2004 following a vivid dream in which he was reciting the call to prayer from the world’s highest peak. He followed this calling and became the first Jordanian to climb Mount Everest in 2008 and in the same year was knighted by King Abdullah II of Jordan.

Four years into his sporting career he made a conscious decision to climb for a purpose. In the spirit of helping those in need, he launched three successful initiatives that raised millions for charity.

In March 2016, he published his first book titled ‘Dreams of a Refugee’ and a large part of his time is now passionately invested in inspiring and motivating children, youths and adults into realizing their own dreams in the same way he has.

Without question one of the most inspiring people we’ve had the honour of speaking with.
