A Curve Ball Called EEPHUS: Director Carson Lund on His Cannes-Honored Debut Film About Baseball10 Mar 202500:54:57
🎧 Inside the Arthouse: Carson Lund on EEPHUS – A Baseball Film About Time, Change, and Camaraderie 🎬 Distributed by @MusicBoxFilms When is a baseball movie more than just a baseball movie? "F**k Sundance! Start Your Own Damn Festival!" with Dan Mirvish06 Jan 202501:03:53
In the 90's, most indie filmmakers would have just given up if their debut feature was rejected by Sundance. But not Dan Mirvish. Combining forces with a number of other "rejectees," they went rogue and started the Slamdance Film Festival, garnering attention for their films even as they earned the ire of Robert Redford. Mirvish went on to successfully self-distribute that debut film, OMAHA: THE MOVIE, plus several more over the years, including 18 1/2, a film about the 18 and a 1/2 minutes missing from the Nixon tapes which he shot during the pandemic. A true renegade, Dan is the embodiment of a filmmaker who won't give up on his film. Listen and learn from the rest of our conversation with Dan Mirvish, on INSIDE THE ARTHOUSE ----- Hosted by Greg Laemmle and Raphael Sbarge, INSIDE THE ARTHOUSE is an “insider’s” perspective podcast on filmmakers & people responsible for films appearing on arthouse screens across USA. Alfred Hitchcock Speaks from the Grave? Mark Cousins on Reimagining the Master of Suspense23 Oct 202400:55:20
🎬 My Name Is Alfred Hitchcock is a bold and imaginative new documentary from acclaimed filmmaker and film historian Mark Cousins, who reintroduces us to the iconic director through a surprising and deeply personal lens. Rather than a traditional biographical portrait, Cousins creates a cinematic séance of sorts—channeling Hitchcock himself to narrate his life and work in the first person, offering fresh insight into both his technique and psychology. Spanning decades of Hitchcock’s legendary career—from early silent films to his Hollywood masterpieces—My Name Is Alfred Hitchcock examines six recurring themes in his work: escape, desire, loneliness, time, fulfillment, and height. Through this framework, Cousins invites audiences to reconsider what they think they know about the so-called “Master of Suspense.” The result is an intellectually rich, visually inventive, and often unexpectedly emotional portrait of a filmmaker whose fingerprints remain all over modern cinema. Featuring clips from over 40 of Hitchcock’s films—including Vertigo, Rear Window, North by Northwest, The Birds, and Psycho—the film is both a celebration of a cinematic giant and a meditation on the evolution of film itself. The voice of Hitchcock (performed by impressionist Alistair McGowan) is witty, ironic, vulnerable, and razor-sharp—bringing a new perspective to the man behind the legend. Produced with the blessing of the Hitchcock estate, My Name Is Alfred Hitchcock is not just for die-hard fans or cinephiles—it’s for anyone interested in how cinema shapes the way we see, feel, and think. At once playful and profound, it’s a masterclass in storytelling and a love letter to the mysteries of movie-making. #AlfredHitchcock #MarkCousins #MyNameIsAlfredHitchcock #InsideTheArthouse #HitchcockDocumentary #StoryOfFilm #ClassicCinema #FilmmakingPodcast #ArthouseCinema #RearWindow #Vertigo #Psycho #FilmAnalysis #GregLaemmle #RaphaelSbarge #cinephile Alfred Hitchcock documentary My Name Is Alfred Hitchcock Mark Cousins Hitchcock film Hitchcock voice documentary Hitchcock film analysis Hitchcock first-person documentary Modern Hitchcock tribute Hitchcock legacy film Documentary about Hitchcock Master of Suspense film Hitchcock movies explained Rear Window documentary Vertigo analysis Psycho film history Classic cinema documentary Hollywood Golden Age Auteur theory film British film history Film essay documentary Cinema studies documentary Escape and cinema Desire in film Time and memory in movies Film theory and Hitchcock Cinematic storytelling Visual language of suspense Psychological thriller roots Cinematic innovation Hitchcock Filmmaking masterclass For film students For Hitchcock fans For cinephiles For film lovers For documentary fans Arthouse cinema Classic film buffs Movie podcast audience @laemmle @insideTheArthouse  @OfficialRaphaelSbarge  Hosted by Greg Laemmle, President of Laemmle Theatres, and Raphael Sbarge, Emmy Award-winning director and actor, Inside the Arthouse gives listeners a front-row seat to conversations with the creative forces behind today’s most compelling arthouse films. 👉 Discover more at InsidetheArthouse.com #arthouse #arthouseFilm @laemmle #BehindTheScenes #FilmDiscussion #MovieReview #NewReleases #NewFilmReleases #FilmLovers #Cinema #MoviePodcast #GregLaemmle #RaphaelSbarge #LaemmleTheatres #FilmDistribution #MovieIndustry #FilmBusiness Video Podcast Independent Film / Indie Film Arthouse Film / Arthouse Movie Film Lovers / Cinema New Movie Releases / New Film Releases Repertory Cinema / Classic Films / Classic Movies Filmmaker Interviews / Filmmakers (Directors, Writers, Producers) Film Distributors / Film Distribution Movie Industry / Film Business / Movie Business Behind-the-Scenes Insights Film Discussion / Movie Reviews / Film Analysis Greg Laemmle / Raphael Sbarge Laemmle Theatres Learn more about your ad choices. Journalism on the Brink: Rick Goldsmith on Fighting Disinformation & Defending the Free Press | Inside the Arthouse03 Oct 202400:01:53
Stripped for Parts: American Journalism on the Brink is a gripping and urgently relevant documentary from two-time Academy Award nominee Rick Goldsmith, shining a spotlight on a rapidly unfolding crisis that threatens the very foundation of American democracy: the systematic dismantling of local journalism. At the heart of the film is the shocking true story of how Alden Global Capital, a powerful New York-based hedge fund, has quietly become one of the largest owners of U.S. newspapers. Their method? Buy struggling local papers—many of which are decades or even centuries old—and strip them for maximum short-term profit. Newsrooms are gutted, journalists are laid off en masse, and communities across the country are left in information vacuums, vulnerable to misinformation and disconnection. Goldsmith, whose past films have tackled topics like whistleblowers (The Most Dangerous Man in America) and media responsibility (Tell the Truth and Run), delivers another incisive and meticulously researched exposé. Through interviews with veteran journalists, editors, media analysts, and former newspaper staffers, the film tells the emotional and often infuriating story of how public trust is eroded when corporate greed overtakes journalistic integrity. Stripped for Parts isn’t just a tale of loss—it’s also a call to action. It highlights the essential role of a free press in holding power accountable and ensuring that communities have access to reliable, fact-based news. It asks urgent questions: What happens when the watchdogs are silenced? Who benefits when citizens are left uninformed? And what can be done to reclaim journalism as a public good? Visually engaging and narratively compelling, Stripped for Parts is a must-see documentary for anyone concerned about the future of American democracy, the rise of disinformation, and the role of journalism in the 21st century. It’s not just about newspapers—it’s about truth, power, and who controls the story. #StrippedForParts #RickGoldsmith #AmericanJournalism #JournalismInCrisis #SaveLocalNews #MediaMatters #DocumentaryFilm#FreePress #NewsDeserts #HedgeFundTakeover #LocalJournalism #InsideTheArthouse #DemocracyDiesInDarkness #IndependentMedia #InvestigativeDocumentary #DisinformationCrisis #SupportJournalism #TruthMatters #MediaConsolidation #PressFreedom Rick Goldsmith documentary Journalism documentary 2024 Hedge funds destroying newspapers Alden Global Capital journalism Stripped for Parts film American media crisis Local news under threat Free press documentary Journalism and democracy Newspaper closures USA Who owns the news? A breakout hit at the Toronto International Film Festival, Jane Austen Wrecked My Life is now opening in theaters across the United States. 🎧 On this episode of Inside the Arthouse, we sit down with writer-director Laura Piani to explore how Austen’s legacy lives on in modern cinema, the challenges of making an indie romantic comedy, and the enduring appeal of finding love when you least expect it. @SonyClassics @laemmle @InsidetheArthouse #Jane Austen #indiefilms film #arthouse #comedy #drama #interview #film review #Cannes #filmlovers #filmmaking #filmfestival #quirkycomedy #cinema #RomanticComedy #romantic BehindTheScenes #FilmDiscussion #MovieReview #NewReleases #NewFilmReleases #FilmLovers #Cinema #MoviePodcast #GregLaemmle #RaphaelSbarge #LaemmleTheatres #WatermelonPictures #FilmDistribution #MovieIndustry #FilmBusiness Video Podcast Independent Film / Indie Film Arthouse Film / Arthouse Movie Film Lovers / Cinema New Movie Releases / New Film Releases Repertory Cinema / Classic Films / Classic Movies Filmmaker Interviews / Filmmakers (Directors, Writers, Producers) Film Distributors / Film Distribution Movie Industry / Film Business / Movie Business Behind-the-Scenes Insights Film Discussion / Movie Reviews / Film Analysis Greg Laemmle / Raphael Sbarge Laemmle Theatre Jane Austen movie movies about writers movies about writing romantic comedy film Paris bookseller aspiring writer women’s stories in film female writer protagonist writing residency bookshop romance reference to Jane Austen reference to Mr. Darcy love triangle best movies about books bookstore Shakespeare and Company Paris contemporary Jane Austen adaptation female-directed film French romantic comedy inspiration for writers movies set in England writer’s block book lover movie Learn more about your ad choices. Repertory Cinema Lives! Bruce Goldstein on Film Forum, Rialto Pictures & Restoring Movie History22 Jul 202500:35:20
REPERTORY CINEMA at The Film Forum with Programmer Bruce Goldstein At INSIDE THE ARTHOUSE, we love discovering bold new voices and emerging filmmakers. But there's something uniquely rewarding about revisiting a classic—whether it's an old favorite or a legendary film you've always meant to watch. And seeing these films on the big screen in a real movie theater is the way they were meant to be experienced. Repertory cinema in the U.S. has faced its share of challenges, from the rise of home video and streaming to rising urban real estate costs. Many iconic rep theaters have closed. But in recent years, there's been a revival of interest in classic and cult films, shown theatrically in new restorations and 35mm prints. One of the most influential figures in this movement is Bruce Goldstein, longtime repertory programmer at Film Forum in New York City and founder of Rialto Pictures. For over 50 years, Bruce has been a champion of film history—curating, restoring, and re-releasing cinematic landmarks. In early 2025, Rialto re-released Claude Lelouch’s A Man and a Woman, and coming soon is a brand-new 4K restoration of Jean-Jacques Beineix’s Diva. We sat down with Bruce Goldstein in New York to talk about the past, present, and future of repertory film programming in the U.S.—and how he’s helped shape what American audiences get to see on the big screen. repertory cinema in the US Bruce Goldstein Film Forum Rialto Pictures documentary 35mm film revival A Man and a Woman restoration Diva Jean-Jacques Beineix 4K independent theaters NYC classic films in theaters 2025 movie history preservation Inside the Arthouse podcast best film podcasts 2025 New York City film culture Film Forum #InsideTheArthouse #BruceGoldstein #RepertoryCinema #FilmForumNYC#RialtoPictures #ClassicCinema #FilmPreservation #35mmFilm#CinemaHistory #ArthouseTheaters #MovieRestoration #FilmCulture#DivaMovie #ClaudeLelouch #CinephileNation @laemmle   @InsidetheArthouse   @FilmForumNYC   @OfficialRaphaelSbarge  #arthouse #arthouseFilm @laemmle #BehindTheScenes #FilmDiscussion #MovieReview #NewReleases #NewFilmReleases #FilmLovers #Cinema #MoviePodcast #GregLaemmle #RaphaelSbarge #LaemmleTheatres #FilmDistribution #MovieIndustry #FilmBusiness Video Podcast Independent Film / Indie Film Arthouse Film / Arthouse Movie Film Lovers / Cinema New Movie Releases / New Film Releases Repertory Cinema / Classic Films / Classic Movies Filmmaker Interviews / Filmmakers (Directors, Writers, Producers) Film Distributors / Film Distribution Movie Industry / Film Business / Movie Business Behind-the-Scenes Insights Film Discussion / Movie Reviews / Film Analysis Greg Laemmle / Raphael Sbarge Laemmle Theatres Learn more about your ad choices. Eric Aronson Paul Guilfoyle: Any Day Now — Comedy, Character, the Gardner Museum Heist13 Aug 202500:39:08
Genre in film is a way we group stories — by shared style, form, or subject. In the new film ANY DAY NOW, writer-director Eric Aronson takes the familiar framework of a heist movie and flips it on its head. Instead of leaning on nonstop action, Aronson delivers a sharp, character-driven story that leans on comedy — anchored by veteran actor Paul Guilfoyle, whose wit and depth shine in every scene. At the center of the story is the infamous 1990 Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum robbery in Boston — one of the most audacious and unsolved art heists in American history. Thirteen priceless paintings vanished without a trace, but here the crime is the backdrop to a more intimate tale: how people, in a specific time and place, can collide in ways that reveal our quirks, contradictions, and unexpected outcomes. As you’re about to see, Eric Aronson and Paul Guilfoyle had an undeniable chemistry bringing ANY DAY NOW to life. Join us as they share the inside story of making their film, on Inside the Arthouse, starting now… #AnyDayNowFilm #InsideTheArthouse #EricAronson #PaulGuilfoyle #TaylorGray #ArtHeistMovie#IsabellaStewartGardnerRobbery #ComedyCrimeThriller #AuthorizedInterview #FilmPromotion#TheatricalRelease #IndieFilm Any Day Now 2025 film Inside the Arthouse Any Day Now Exclusive interview Any Day NowAny Day Now Eric Aronson Paul Guilfoyle Any Day Now Taylor Gray Any Day Now Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum heist film Comedy crime thriller 2025 Art heist movie based on real robbery Any Day Now theatrical release Blue Harbor Entertainment film interview Authorized promotional content Any Day Now @anydaynowfilm @laemmle @officialRaphaelSbarge @insideTheArthouse #InsideTheArthouse #ArthouseCinema #IndependentFilm #IndieFilmPodcast #FilmInterviews#BehindTheScenes #AmericanCinema #FilmPremiere #MovieLoversUSA #FilmmakerInterview#DirectorInterview #ActorInterview #OnSetStories Learn more about your ad choices.
