Time to Try Triathlon
Episode 13
lundi 4 septembre 2023 • Duration 50:03
We are so excited to have Rachel W, the new USA Triathlon National Champion in the Olympic distance for women 25-29, on the pod! She believes "triathlon has taught me how to be flexible through life. It’s a sport that never goes 100% according to plan and that’s exactly how life is. I've learned how to deal with challenges as they come and to make light of difficult situations. In the end things will always work out."
As a lifetime swimmer and former collegiate runner, Rachel does a great job explaining so much about triathlon. Some things we touch on are ....
- balancing training with a new career
- what to expect between transition 1 and transition 2
- racing on triathlon bikes versus other types of bikes
- being flexible when unexpected things crop up, like having a bike malfunction the day before the race

The Art of Solo Travel
Episode 11
lundi 7 août 2023 • Duration 01:08:42
Solo travel can be quite intimidating and seem like something other, more adventurous people do; however, on today's episode we chat with IHN friend Tessa about the art of solo travel.
Almost as if it was straight from her travel journal, she believes “being alone by no means has to be lonely. For me, solo traveling is a way to connect to myself, to other people, and to other ways of life. It opens my eyes to things I never would have stopped to notice.
Sometimes, I have an initial idea of what I need going into a trip: self exploration, finding my direction or identity, getting out of a funk, or even just having a d*mn good, carefree adventure in this one precious life we have! But most times, I don’t fully know what I need until I am out there.
The act solo travel is a great way to cut through all the clutter and noise and find the purity of your own voice, and discover your own wants, needs, and patterns that you might not have even known existed."
In this episode, we talk about ...
- the do's and don'ts of solo travel
- starting small to build confidence
- safety challenges
- incorporating mindful travel into your trips

Pursuing Your Edge of Adventure
Episode 9
lundi 10 juillet 2023 • Duration 39:52
In a pursuit that has mostly been a male's game, female mountaineers rarely get the attention they deserve. After reading Johanna Garton's book Edge of the Map, I knew the story of Christine Boskoff was something that would inspire me for the rest of my life.
Chris Boskoff was a premier female mountaineer summiting many of the world's most legendary peaks. She was from Wisconsin, an engineer, & business woman. "Her life was one of unervring forward progress—until personal tragedy struck."
"Not a mountaineer herself, Johanna Garton was drawn to Boskoff’s story for deeply personal reasons: hailing from the same small Midwestern hometown, and in fact, attending high school together, though they never met. Their paths seemed destined to intersect." Our interview with Johanna highlights the following:
life lessons from Christine Boskoff (told from Johanna's perspective)
pursuing your own personal edge of adventure
navigating imposter syndrome in the outdoors
