Malgré les premières réticences qu'elle rencontre, elle réussit très vite à convaincre soignants et blessés des bienfaits de son savoir car les résultats sont là : l'acupuncture apaise les douleurs post opératoires, celles des amputés, des grands brûlés et des enfants. Élise transforme alors son combat solitaire en une mission humanitaire pérenne. Elle forme des équipes sur place et lève des fonds en France pour créer des dispensaires mobiles. Elle constate que la grande majorité des victimes de guerre réfugiées en Irak vivent hors des camps et n'ont pas accès aux soins. Des milliers de familles sont réduites à l'état de mendicité, les femmes et les filles sont vendues comme esclaves sexuelles, les enfants ont vécu dans la terreur de l'enlèvement. Grâce à des médecins, infirmiers, pharmaciens, chauffeurs qu'elle recrute parmi les réfugiés, son camion-dispensaire et son "bus des femmes" partent à la rencontre de ces populations en souffrance.

Témoin de l'horreur, de l'injustice, du quotidien des réfugiés sur les zones de conflit, Élise Boghossian raconte surtout une aventure humaine, avec autant de force que d'espoir pour décrire l'innommable. Et la conviction intime que la vie l'emporte toujours.

Zusammenfassung:
Der 1937 in Den Haag geborene Sinto Zoni Weisz muss als Kind miterleben, wie seine Eltern und seine Geschwister von den Nazis deportiert werden, er selbst kann dank der Hilfe eines niederländischen Polizisten in letzter Minute gemeinsam mit seiner Tante entkommen. Seine Eltern und seine Geschwister werden allesamt ermordet.

Nach dem Krieg beendet Weisz die Schule und wird Florist - schließlich sogar einer der wichtigsten Repräsentanten der niederländischen Floristik. So erstellt er etwa das größte Blumenarrangement der Welt und erhält dafür einen Eintrag in das Guinnessbuch der Rekorde. Die niederländische Königin Beatrix ernennt Zoni Weisz zum Offizier des Ordens von Oranien-Nassau. Seit vielen Jahren bemüht sich Weisz, der lange über seine Vergangenheit geschwiegen hatte, um die Erinnerung an die Opfer des Nationalsozialismus und engagiert sich sehr für die Wahrnehmung der Rechte von Sinti und Roma in Europa. Am 27. Januar 2011 hielt Zoni Weisz als erster Vertreter der Sinti und Roma eine viel beachtete Rede vor dem Deutschen Bundestag anlässlich des Tags des Gedenkens an die Opfer des Nationalsozialismus.

In dem Hörbuch erzählt Zoni Weisz ohne Skript aus seinem Leben. Er spricht über seine Eltern und seine Geschwister, über das freie Leben im Pferdewagen, über die Angst während der Besatzungszeit, über seine Zeit als Lehrling und das Wunder der Pflanzenwelt sowie über sein politisches Engagement.
