Today I want to draw a big giant crazy ice cream sundae. We'll start with a fancy dish, then add classic toppings like a banana. chocolate syrup, whipped cream, and of course, your artist choice of any toppings you can think of. Drawing sprinkles reminded me of the famous pointillism artwork of Georges Seurat, so I talked a bit about his work and his artist choice to use dots. I'll show you a picture of his most famous painting on my blog.

Today I want to draw 2 crabby crabs crab-walking on the beach. We'll draw some ocean waves, and 2 crabs with very grumpy faces. Today I want to draw sharks! We'll draw a Great White Shark with many sharp teeth, a Basking Shark with a giant open mouth, and a Hammer Head Shark down at the bottom of the ocean where he likes to hunt his prey. There are a lot of shark facts in this one! Most sharks are greyish blue, but an artist can make them any color they want--because there's no wrong way to do art.

Today I want to draw a wedding scene, inspired by the wedding I am going to this weekend. We'll draw a bride and a groom, and some flowers to decorate. Today I want to draw a monarch butterfly's metamorphosis. We'll fold our paper into four sections. In each section, we'll draw a part of the metamorphosis. This picture will have an egg laid on a milkweed plant, a caterpillar, a chrysalis, and finally a monarch butterfly. I'll let you know which colors appear in nature, but if you don't want to use those colors, that's your artist's choice.

Today, in honor of Earth Day and Earth Month, I want to draw a before and after picture of cleaned up pollution. We'll fold the paper in half to divide the picture. On one side of the paper, we'll draw a polluted scene, with a sad tree and a sludgy pond. Then, we'll imagine the scene cleaned up. On the other side of the paper, we'll draw a tree and a pond thriving in a clean environment.

Until we draw together again next time, here are somethings your imagination can wonder about:

Today, in honor of Earth Day and Earth Month, I want to draw a racoon digging through the trash bin to eat some discarded food. We'll draw a trash bin, a cute and mischievous raccoon, and lots of garbage. We'll wonder about where so much garbage comes from and if we can do anything to create less trash--even if it makes the racoon a little sad.

Today I want to draw a tree house. The tree house can be a place call our own and feel safe. We'll start with a big strong tree trunk and branches. Then a tree house with a door and window. And we'll add a few different creative ways to get up and down. There will be lots of artistic choices to be made, like the shape of the window, and what kind of swing the tree house should have.

2. Why is it important to have multiple ways to get up and down into your tree house?

Today I want to draw a scientist, or better yet a scientist version of you! We'll think about how we'd feel if were making something. We'll add classic crazy hair and safety goggles. Of course, we'll have a table full of different beakers. The artist's imagination will decide what the scientist is concocting. Oh, and we'll draw a special tiny helper for the scientist.

Today I want to draw a helpful robot. Some parts of him light up, some stretch. He really wants to help! But what's the best way for a robot to be helpful? And how can we keep the robot dry so he doesn't get sparky?

Today I want to draw a pirate ship! We'll draw the ship, the sails, the mast, and a pirate. Maybe the pirate is you! Of course, we'll draw a treasure chest and you get to decide that's inside.

2. What would you want to keep in your treasure chest?
3. Why do pirates like parrots so much?

Today I want to draw dinosaurs. We'll draw a huge brontosaurus with a very long neck and tail, a scary tyrannosaurus rex with sharp teeth, and pterodactyl flying through the air. We'll draw a pond between the carnivore and herbivore so nobody gets eaten for lunch! And I'll add one more sill layer of protection to keep our brontosaurus safe.

Today I want to draw a circus. Maybe the ring master is you! We'll draw an elephant, a lion, and an acrobat flying from one trapeze bar to another. It's up to the artist to add a circus act that I may have forgotten.

March goes in like a lion and comes out like a lamb. It's the perfect day to draw a couple of little lambs playing in a field next to a stream. We'll make sure the field is full of glass and flowers so the lambs can eat. These lambs are a bit mischievous, so we'll have to draw some ways to keep track of them.

Today I want to draw an aquarium. We'll draw two types of fish, two clean up critters--a shrimp and a snail, and most importantly a critter that YOU get to make up.

Today I want to draw a visit to the dentist. We'll draw ourselves in the dentist chair, and the dentist too. We will draw many of the tools the dentist uses and I'll tell you a little bit about what they do. Some people love the dentist, but I am someone who gets nervous there. So! I'll also share my tips on how to stay brave and overcome dentist anxiety. Oh, did I mention that you have to look a little silly at the dentist?

Today we'll draw a hot air balloon in the sky. Hot air balloons traditionally have a lot of colors or wild patterns. Who will be in the basket? You! And someone to help you navigate. We'll also draw someone on the ground waving up at you.

Today I want to draw a spring garden-- it's finally spring, after all! Today's drawing will start with 2 flowers and then you can add more of course. We'll plant some tomatoes on a vine. And we'll draw a butterfly, a buzzing bee, and a worm. Happy spring!
