Christian van Nieuwerburgh (PhD) is an academic, consultant and executive coach. He is the Chief Executive of the International Centre for Coaching in Education which was established in 2010 to encourage, champion and support the use of coaching in educational settings. Dr. Charlotte Cordes und Florian Schwartz sprechen in dieser Folge über den Provokativen Ansatz im Coaching und ihre Weiterentwicklung zur Provokativen Szenenarbeit. Dabei ergänzen die beiden ihre Arbeit um szenische und musikalische Elemente.

Beim Provokativen Ansatz geht es um das Liebevolle Karikieren des Weltbildes der Klientinnen und Klienten. Provokative Coaches und Therapeuten steigen in das Weltbild der Klienten ein und karikieren deren Stolpersteine so lange bis sie selbst darüber lachen können und einen emotional gefütterten Widerstand gegen ihre Selbstschädigungen entwickeln. Das befreit und entspannt sie und hat oft langanhaltende Verhaltensänderungen zur Folge. Wichtig: Der Coach/Berater lacht dabei nichts weg und lacht auch niemanden aus, sondern amüsiert sich gemeinsam mit den Klienten über die Absurditäten ihrer Themen. Verbal ist der Coach dabei provokativ, nonverbal empathisch, d.h. er oder sie traut den Klientinnen zu, dass sie selbst aus ihren Sackgassen herauskommen. Haben provokative Coaches diese Haltung nicht, dürfen sie auf keinen Fall provokativ werden. Denn dann werden die Provokationen zynisch und ätzend und verletzen die Klienten.

Der Provokative Ansatz hat sich aus der der Provokativen Therapie von Frank Farrelly entwickelt. Der Begriff “provokativ” wird im Sinne von “herauslocken, herausfordern” verstanden und keinesfalls im Sinne von “verletzen” oder “beleidigen”. Farrelly stellte viele für unumstösslich gehaltene Therapieregeln auf den Kopf, machte das befreiende Lachen in der Therapie gesellschaftsfähig und zeigte, dass wirkungsvolle Therapie sowohl kurzweilig als auch kurz sein kann. Dr. Noni Höfner und D. Charlotte Cordes (Mutter und Tochter) haben die Provokative Therapie in den letzten Jahrzehnten zum Provokativen Ansatz weiterentwickelt.

Eine vom European Mentoring and Coaching Council 2018 durchgeführte Studie zeigt, dass kognitives Verhaltenscoaching in Großbritannien von 35% der Coaches genutzt wird und damit zu den meistgenutzten Coachingansätzen gehört. Dagegen fristet es in Deutschland mit nur 5% der Coaches ein Mauerblümchendasein.

Dabei bietet kognitives Verhaltenscoaching gerade heute, wo langjährig bewährte Ansätze in Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft nicht mehr funktionieren und neues Verhalten entwickelt werden muss, interessante Ansätze, um Menschen dauerhaft wieder auf die Erfolgsspur zu bringen.
