With a rich background in music journalism as the Editor of DJ Mag Ibiza and extensive experience as the magazines Tech Editor, Michael Wilson joins Jo at the Hub in his music studio to talk about his island life and transition into writing after a long career in the music industry.

He says his mission is to bring a deep understanding of both the creative and technology side of the electronic music scene.

With a career spanning over 16 years at DJ Magazine, he has been an integral part in shaping the conversation around electronic music on the island and beyond.

In todays episode we perch in a new Italian Cafe in Santa Eulalia over two glasses of cold crisp white wine in the winter sunshine to meet Ukrainian jazz Haprist, Alina Bzhezhinska. 

Alina is undoubtedly one of the leading harpists in the world today and is a one-woman powerhouse on a mission to bring the harp to the fore of contemporary sound. 

A jazz harpist, composer, band leader and a founder of the digital platform HipHarpCollective, she’s also trying to remarket the harp in her lifetime. 

Alina Bzhezhinska has performed at Balmoral Castle for HM the Queen’s 80th birthday, was commissioned by Thai royalty to arrange the music written by the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej and more recently could be found creating with UK jazz frontrunner Kamaal Williams on his second studio album, Wu Hen. 

Having studied Classical Harp at the F. Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw, obtained a Masters in Arts in Poland, a spot at the University of Arizona to study jazz ensued. Relocating to the UK in 2002, Bzhezhinska went on to become the resident harp tutor at the prestigious Royal Conservatory of Scotland for seven years. 

She now lives in Ibiza and is making her new album on the island with a fusion of electronic sounds and beats. At The HUB studios.

"An evening with".... is a new acoustic singer songwriter night at the Word of Mouth Cafe in Ibiza. 
It's an opportunity for artists to share their music in a very real and raw, rustic environment on the island and in this episode, we caught up with swissSinger songwrite Ishantu who performed there at the end of October.
Denise moved to ibiza at the start of last year when the world went slightly sideways and she tells Jo Youle all about the transition from her home to what she thought would be a free place to be, with a slight diversion which led her to meet Word of Mouth founder, Harry.  It also gave her time and space to create her new record, which is coming out soon.

In our return episode, Jo youle goes to meet Danielle Moore from Crazy P as she celebrates her 50th birthday and plays a set with her band member Hot Toddy aka Chris Todd at the WOM cafe. 
The pair sip espresso Martini on the streets of Santa Eulalia as they tell Jo all about their lockdown experiences in London and Nottingham, what kept them going totally Crazy and how it was to make their big return to the live stage. 
It is also coming up to two decades since Danielle joined the band and Chris shares with us some band memories, talks about their new tour this festive season in the UK and how and why their new record got a little bit political and why it felt like time to share those feelings through their work.

Happy Valentines Day...

What better way, when it feels like the world needs a collective hug, to start, with a man in history who did that pretty well with his words, his reggae lyrics and everything he stood for on stage? 

That man was Mr Robert Nesta Marley, a man who graced these fine white sands back in 1978 for a very special one off gig, which we are lucky to have part of the LIVE recording of in todays One Love Valentines special episode. 

It was captured in the crowd by a fan at the old Bull Ring in Es Pratet.

It is not recorded live from stage or pro style and it has definitely not been captured in the VIP area either. 

All the interviews have also not been done in quality, due to the circumstances, so today we ARE coming to your ears, raw, rugged and rebellious. But it is the REAL DEAL and thats the number one thing most people admired about Bob Marley.

We speak to the man who played a big part of organising the show on June 28th 1978, Jose Pascuale who is Preseident of the DJ Awards.  We also hear from  Fransec Fabregas  -  the photographer  standng on the tarmac to greet Bob and The Wailers as they landed more then 40 years ago.

After a year on a roller coaster ride how do we end on a high?

In this week's episode Jo Youle meets Mays Al Ali, an ibiza based fermentation expert, to talk you through making Kombucha, Water Kefir, sauerkraut and Kimchi.
