Welcome to a brand new episode of Ian’s Untitled Scene Show! In this episode, it’s a fan favorite: the 2023 year-end SCENE wrap-up show featuring Jake Whalen of Pyro, Ohio! We discuss the Scene in general, talk about many albums out in 2023, the best EPs (in Ian’s opinion), and much more! There’s so much to review, so this is just PART 1. In Part 2, we review the best and worst of the Scene in 2023 (and more, of course)! So don’t be surprised when you get to the end of Part 1, and it’s a Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse cliffhanger 🤘 Correction: Skylar is the bassist of Issues, not the guitarist, and Michael’s last name is ‘Bohn’ 🤘 Check out the exclusive conversation below (and Part 2 soon), including iTunes, Spotify, Stitcher, and more: Spotify 🤘 iTunes 🤘 Google Play Music Make sure to support Pyro, Ohio, in all they do! | Crystal Lake - Ryo Kinoshita - Ian Hates Music #229 | 05 Mar 2019 | 00:28:40
Now I get to say something I never thought I’d get to say, Ryo Kinoshita, the lead vocalist for Japanese metal band Crystal Lake, is the featured guest on this episode of Ian Hates Conversations: Music Edition! Ryo and Crystal Lake are finishing up their first tour in America before heading back overseas for more touring. They also released their brand new album ‘Helix’ through SharpTone Records recently with a lot of acclaim and praise. Rightfully so, it’s a favorite of Ian’s. Ryo takes time out to be on Ian Hates Conversations before another live show to talk about touring, Helix, and more, so check it out! You may not know this, but English is not Ryo’s first language, so it was very cool for Ian to catch up with him on the phone, though not being able to see each other while talking does make it even more impressive that Ryo was able to join the show. If you know Ian’s past shows, you’ll know he changed his cadence a bit and slowed down his speaking speed to make things easier. Make sure to support Ryo and Crystal Lake by following the links below: Crystal Lake - Sharptone Records Huge thanks to Ryo for taking time out of his extremely busy touring schedule to come on Ian Hates Conversations: Music Edition. Hopefully Crystal Lake will return to the US for more touring in the future. Make sure you check them out, pick up a copy of ‘Helix’, and continue the support! Don't forget to support Ian Hates Music! Subscribe, rate, and share Ian Hates Music on iTunes, Stitcher, Google Play Music, SoundCloud, Spotify, and any of your favorite podcast listening apps! | Ian Hates Music #228 - You Can't Come Home the Same | 28 Feb 2019 | 01:52:02
It’s time for a brand new episode of Ian Hates Music! James is back, Ian is still not 100% after being sick for a week and a half, but as Fronz says “It Is What It Is”, so you may hear his voice give out every once in while (lucky you!)…The guys have all the fun scene news and some not so fun as well, so, you know what to do! Get ready for your best weekly dose of metalcore, post-hardcore, metal, hardcore, electronicore, emo, screamo, rock, alternative, pop-punk, punk, easycore, deathcore, nu-metal, and really, all the core you could ever want! It's another FUCKING GREAT, FUCKING FREE (NSFW) episode of Ian Hates Music you say?!?! That's right! Ian and James talk your scene news from: The Ghost Inside, Ozzy, Breaking Benjamin, Marilyn Manson, A Day To Remember, Warped Tour, Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein, The Word Alive, Blessthefall, Wage War, and a serious conversation (on a comedy show) about sexual misconduct/assault accusations in the scene. This is not a conversation about who is “right” and who is “wrong”. This conversation does not choose sides and does not expect you to either. It is an analytical conversation, all speculation, all opinion, on the current state of accusations that happen to take place in the scene. If you like an open conversation with no judgements that may actually be thought provoking, then this conversation is for you. If not, you can skip it and go on to New Songs. The entertainment show, known as Ian Hates Music, is normally a comedy show, but the co-hosts try to be open and honest and sometimes that means covering the big stories that involve a sensitive nature. And New Songs talk from: Born A New, Low Dose, AngelMaker, Whitechapel, Dayshell, Harm, Life Itself, The Damned Things, Our Last Night, New Idea Society, Belle, The Anchor, and Charlatan! Add on album reviews from: Attila - Villain - Self-Release ExitWounds - Visions - EP - SharpTone Records Blood Youth - Starve - Rude Records Boundaries - My Body In Bloom - EP - Unbeaten Records To the Rats and Wolves - Cheap Love - Arising Empire/Nuclear Blast Records Minors - Abject Bodies - Holy Roar/Deathwish Records Deadships - D.O.A. - Stay Sick Recordings Ghost Iris - Apple of Discord - SPV/Long Branch Records Plus, stuff and/or things and maybe some more! | The Plot In You - Landon Tewers - Ian Hates Music #226 | 19 Feb 2019 | 00:46:24
It’s a very cool episode of Ian Hates Conversations: Music Edition as Landon Tewers joins Ian in the Ian Hates “Studio”! (There’s a lot of ‘Ian’ in that sentence and I apologize). At the time of this recording, Landon is finishing up his solo tour co-headlining with Ghost Atlas. If you’re not familiar with Landon Tewers, he has his solo work, projects like Ai640, writing and producing bands, AND he’s the lead vocalist of The Plot In You. Oh yeah, he’s also one of the most talented and versatile vocalists out there! Let’s not give too much away in the description of the episode though. Ian and Landon talk in person about everything going on in Landon’s life, new tours, new music, and possible plans for the future. Ian will normally remove background and strange noises from conversation episodes, but it didn’t feel necessary for this since it’s just two people face to face in the same room. Hope you enjoy! Make sure to support Landon by following the links below: Landon Tewers: The Plot In You: Huge thanks to Landon for taking time out of his extremely busy schedule to come on Ian Hates Conversations: Music Edition. Zeke, Jack, Connor, Christian, and Matt join Ian from all over the states to talk about everything Down & Dirty! When I say everything, I mean EVERYTHING! I for one can’t wait to hear it! Make sure to check out the link to the Indiegogo below. Think you know the whole story behind the band? | Doyle - Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein - Ian Hates Music #216 | 02 Jan 2019 | 00:21:48
It’s 2019 and what better way to start the year than with an absolute legend in the business? On this episode of Ian Hates Conversations: Music Edition, Ian welcomes the great Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein of the band Doyle to the show! It’s been quite a year for Doyle as he’s currently finishing up a 75 date leg of the ‘AS WE DIE Abomination Tour’, and that’s only part of the full tour! In 2013, Doyle put out their debut album ‘Abominator’ and recently in 2017, Doyle put out their sophomore album ‘Doyle II: As We Die’. Since then, Doyle has been touring nonstop. Ian got the opportunity to catch up with the ex-Misfits legendary guitarist on a conference number before a recent show, so it’s shorter than a “normal” Ian Hates interview, but Doyle opens up to Ian about being on tour, the pitfalls of the music industry and streaming services, American concert-goers not living up to the hype, and a lot more! Just like with his music, Doyle doesn’t hold back and you need to hear what he has to say. If you’re a Misfits fan and/or a horror metal/horror punk fan and you don’t know the band Doyle, get on it because you’re missing out! Getting to speak, even for a short while, with someone like Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein is something Ian won’t soon forget. He doesn’t throw the word “legend” around lightly and that’s what Doyle is, a legend. Make sure to support Doyle by following the links below: Doyle: Huge thanks to Doyle for taking time out of his busy schedule to come on the show. He’s extremely busy on the massive ‘AS WE DIE World Abomination Tour’, so make sure you look up his dates and go support him live! | In Hearts Wake - Jake Taylor - Ian Hates Warped Tour Conversations #9 | 23 Sep 2018 | 00:14:54
Welcome everyone to the Ian Hates Warped Tour Conversations! I know it's not summer anymore and that means the touring Warped Tour has ended (perhaps forever), but hey, it takes a while to get these episodes out, haha. Also, why put out Warped Tour material when everyone else was doing it at the same time? Not talking about Warped Tour all the time helps you miss it! Distance makes the heart grow stronger or something else emo like that... Anyway, Ian loves Warped Tour and this was the first year he was able to do in-person Warped Tour interviews! All interviews took place at the Mansfield date of Warped Tour on July 27th at the Xfinity Center. Ian was also not told what interviews he had until he showed up at the venue. That brought a lot of excitement, haha. For more information, you can listen to the Ian Hates Warped Tour Recap Special. But, to be brief, festival interviews are much different than what Ian normally does on Ian Hates Conversations. Everyone is put in one room. Everyone is talking at the same time. You're in a rush, both interviewer and band because you have a time limit and set times to get to. AND, there are bands playing right outside the room! Haha. The only reason you need to know all this is to, of course, set the mood, but also so you realize why these are live, raw, and unedited! The ninth conversation of the day was Jake Taylor of In Hearts Wake! Check the interview out and make sure to support Jake and In Hearts Wake by following the links below: Many thanks to Jake for taking the time out from the busy and tiring Warped Tour schedule to be on Ian Hates Warped Tour Conversations!
