Hell Ya interviews Rue McKenrick, the father of the American Perimeter Trail (APT). Rue is a professional backpacker, conservationist and Executive director of the APTC. Rue spent 600 days hiking the roughly 14,000 mile APT, around the circumference of the U.S.A.. Rue is only days away from finishing the entirety of the trail, which he plans on doing this summer. Rue talks about his adventures on trail and the things he has learned from all his hiking experience as well as starting a long distance trail and conservation corridor.

Hell Ya switches things up a bit and gets serious by sharing how he found reprieve through the outdoors while dealing with depression, cancer and the eventual death of a loved one. He also shares how this idea of "Hiker Trash," helped him find the small bits of purpose in life. He retells "The Ojibway/Anishinaabe Creation Story" (apologies for butchering any names) and the parallels of that story and what he learned on his 2016 Appalachian trail hike.

Hell Ya interviews Chad Lubinski, an ultra-runner and long-distance hiker. Chad thru-hiked the John Muir Trail  last year and talks about how to thru-hike the JMT if you are unable to get a permit. He also highlights a number of shorter thru-hikes including some in the PNW, The Timberline Trail and Loowit Trail . Chad has his own podcast "Hiker Trash Nation," and shares what hiker trash means to him as well how he's training for his 50 mile ultra.
