Gloria Gaynor and Happy Tears13 May 202500:07:10
ABOUT GLORIA GAYNOR AND HAPPY TEARS

Two-time GRAMMY winner Gloria Gaynor has released the new single "Fida Known", an empowered reflection on a past relationship that serves as a showcase for Gaynor's showstopping voice and effortless vocal charisma. Co-written by Gaynor in Nashville alongside GRAMMY-winning songwriters Chris Stevens and Michael Pollack (Miley Cyrus, Maroon 5), "Fida Known" is Gaynor's first new solo single since the release of 2019's GRAMMY-winning LP 'Testimony', and an emphatic declaration of the power of hindsight when overcoming adversity.

Over pulsing handclaps and synth keyboard stabs, Gaynor opens the track by acknowledging her infatuation with a past lover: "You were drivin' me crazy / The kind of crazy that made me see stars". Her declaration of love then gives way to a wiser Gaynor, who laments her shortsightedness in an instant-classic hook: "Fida known that you never / Woulda loved me forever / I'da found someone better / Who could hold me tight." The track is a return to her recognizable disco sound after the breathtaking rootsy gospel of 'Testimony,' and the production of Matt Bronleewe immerses Gaynor's voice in a funky mid-tempo groove that's tailor made for the dance floor or driving with the top down.

"Fida Known" is the first taste of Gaynor's 'Happy Tears' EP, an empowering groove-filled journey that sees her working with up-and-coming songwriters Sam Tinnesz (Kygo, Fitz and the Tantrums), Caitlyn Smith (Miley Cyrus, Meghan Trainor), and Liz Rose (Taylor Swift). The EP is a continuation of Gaynor's new chapter that began with 2019's 'Testimony' and was followed by a collaboration with Kylie Minogue ("Can't Stop Writing Songs About You") in 2022. "Happy Tears" will be released on May 9th.

A biopic of Gaynor's life and career titled Robin Roberts Presents - I Will Survive: The Gloria Gaynor Story aired February 8th on Lifetime. Produced by Robin Roberts, the film depicts Gaynor's rise to fame from her humble beginnings to becoming one of the most iconic voices in music history.

While the Robin Roberts produced biopic focuses on Gloria's early life and career, ending with Gaynor divorcing her husband and reclaiming control of her creative passions; the full length documentary that aired directly after the biopic on February 8th picked up where the biopic leaves off. In the documentary film, we follow Gloria as she realizes her longtime dream of releasing a gospel album.
Gloria Gaynor: I Will Survive is a journey of faith, hope and a magnificent second act. The film premiered in 2023 at the Tribeca Film Festival to critical acclaim. It tells the inspirational story of Gloria's recovery from personal and professional struggles to rebuild her life and record the GRAMMY-winning gospel album 'TESTIMONY'. The film - directed by Betsy Schecter - was praised by Billboard as "sublime", while Variety noted it "proves the disco legend still has life to live".

ABOUT GLORIA GAYNOR

Music icon Gloria Gaynor's legendary career spans over 50 years and shows no signs of slowing down. The 2x GRAMMY winner has achieved global stardom with hit songs in the charts in all five decades. She has also shared her talent through roles in film, television, and the Broadway stage. A Lifetime TV Network biopic, Robin Roberts Presents - I Will Survive: The Gloria Gaynor Story premiered on February 8th. The film chronicles Gloria's rise to fame, from her humble beginnings to becoming one of the most iconic voices in music history. Dubbed America's "Queen of Disco," the movie features many of the songs that catapulted Gloria to the top of the charts, including her legendary hit "I Will Survive," which became a cultural phenomenon and a powerful anthem of empowerment for millions worldwide. Gloria continues to perform around the world each year with her ten-piece band, appearing at major music festivals and concert events each year along with several high-profile private engagements. Recent performances include the Joy Awards (Riyadh, Saudi Arabia), Le Bal de la Rose (Monte Carlo, Monaco), the Cannes Film Festival (Cannes, France). Gloria headlined the world-famous Rock in Rio Festival in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in September, performing to an audience of over 150,000.

Matt Taylor - How powerlifting can help you to find your strongest self18 Jan 202500:31:16

Matt Taylor’s journey with strength training began just before his 13th birthday when he decided to pick up a barbell to transform his 99-lb frame. What started as a personal challenge quickly turned into a passion for powerlifting—a sport that not only allowed him to get stronger but also gave him a newfound sense of confidence. For the first time, Matt found himself excelling in a sport, which sparked a deeper sense of purpose.A few years into his powerlifting journey, Matt set a national squat record and, in 2014, claimed victory in his division at powerlifting worlds. The shift from feeling “invisible” to being recognized for his achievements gave him a perspective that would later define his career. In 2022, Matt faced a life-altering diagnosis of an autoimmune condition that forced him to let go of his dream of squatting 500 lbs and deadlifting 600 lbs. Reflecting on his earlier training, he realized that his approach sometimes relied too heavily on the idea that "time was on his side." This realization fueled his passion for coaching, as he committed himself to helping others avoid the mistakes he made in his lifting journey.Since 2014, Matt has coached over 4,000 lifters, focusing on those who want to channel their inner athlete while balancing their gym time with family, work, and other responsibilities. His unique coaching approach helps athletes achieve personal records at their first powerlifting meets while spending less than five hours a week in the gym.Beyond coaching, Matt offers valuable insights to help people rediscover their passion for lifting and set meaningful goals. He also shares his knowledge with a community group of over 4,000 members and through his Instagram, providing inspiration and guidance to lifters around the world.

Notes from a BlackBerry: Julie Barth’s Story of Survival, Love, and Rebuilding11 May 202500:29:25
Julie Barth has lived through what most of us can’t even imagine—grief, trauma, and the quiet battles behind closed doors. In this raw and inspiring episode, we sit down with the mother of six, trauma survivor, and founder of the Colin James Barth Outreach to explore what it means to fight for your peace when life keeps shattering it.

From caregiving for a child with Primordial Dwarfism, to losing her husband to stage-four cancer, to surviving a decade of emotional and financial abuse—Julie opens up about resilience, motherhood, grief, and finding the courage to walk away without shame. She shares the quiet wisdom behind her healing, the red flags she now teaches others to spot, and how she turned unimaginable hardship into a lifeline for other women in crisis.

Whether you're walking through your own storm or supporting someone who is, this episode is a reminder that survival isn't the end of the story—it's the beginning of something new.

JULIE BARTH is a mother of six and trauma survivor whose mission is to transform personal hardship into inspiration and advocacy. Her journey began when her second daughter, Tayt, was born with Primordial Dwarfism, leading to years of surgeries and medical challenges. Shortly after her young husband Colin’s diagnosis and passing from stage-four pancreatic cancer, Julie faced further adversity, including Tayt’s rare cancer and a decade of emotional and financial abuse in her second marriage.   Julie is also the CEO and founder of the Colin James Barth Outreach, a nonprofit dedicated to helping women-led households with the resources and aid necessary to find security and stability in times of crisis. Her mission is to use her experiences as caregiver, special needs parent, emotional abuse victim, and trauma survivor to encourage women in similar situations to think resourcefully and always protect themselves without stigma or feelings of selfishness. The Colin James Barth Outreach is supported by The Gabby Petito Foundation.

ABOUT TITUS O'NEIL AND WRESTLING WITH FATHERHOOD: My Championship Journey to My Greatest Title: Dad

From the moment Titus O'Neil laid eyes on his first son nearly 20 years ago, he has considered fatherhood his greatest accolade. Now, as his three children - Titus, T.J., and Leah - become thriving adults, O'Neil shares the details of his humbling successes and failures in parenting so that others may learn from his experiences.   Wrestling with Fatherhood tackles important issues in relatable terms and is loaded with stories and guidance for fathers from all walks of life. Former ESPN anchor Jemele Hill, host of the new podcast Spolitics14 Nov 202400:09:02
SPOLITICS is where we don’t just stick to sports, but examine the world and all of its complexities through the lens of sports. Each week, this podcast will enthusiastically explore the intersection between sports, race, gender, sexuality and culture. In this narrative-style podcast, expect sharp commentary, novel conversations, and compelling guests that will drive nuanced sports conversations that drive culture.

JEMELE HILL BIO An Emmy Award winning journalist, Jemele Hill is the Co-founder of Lodge Freeway Media and a contributing writer for The Atlantic. On October 25, 2022, Henry Holt and Company published Hill's memoir, UPHILL: A Memoir. In this character-rich, unapologetically provocative memoir, Hill reveals her tumultuous childhood, complicated family dynamics, and her life-saving journey into journalism. Hill's 20-plus year journalism career has included stops at the biggest sports media network and several reputable newspapers. She originally joined ESPN in 2006 as a national columnist for espn.com. Her profile gradually rose as she began to make appearances on television, including SportsCenter, First Take, Around the Horn, The Sports Reporters and Outside the Lines. She also spent a season as a sideline reporter for ESPN college football games. Her foray into daily television began in 2013, when her and co-host Michael Smith began the daily, sports discussion show, His & Hers, which sprang from their popular podcast of the same name. In February 2017, Hill and Smith co-anchored the 6 p.m., SportsCenter, which debuted as a more personality-driven approach to the traditional SportsCenter. After her stint as SportsCenter host, Hill was a senior columnist for The Undefeated, ESPN's sub-site that focuses on the intersection of sports, race, culture and politics. In addition to breaking ground as a podcaster, Hill continued her celebrated television broadcasting career. In 2020, Hill and her longtime friend, former ESPN anchor Cari Champion, launched a weekly, late-night show on Vice Network called Cari & Jemele: Won't Stick to Sports. The show covered politics, sports, news, current events, and pop culture. Hill is also stretching her muscles behind the camera. She is executive producer of former NFL quarterback and civil rights activist Colin Kaepernick's documentary, which will air on ESPN and is directed by legendary filmmaker Spike Lee. She also is currently developing a comedy series with acclaimed actress Gabrielle Union.

Uphill: A Memoir

https://a.co/d/7qhPXO3

One of Oprah Daily's Best Fall Nonfiction Books of 2022

An empowering, unabashedly bold memoir by the Atlantic journalist and former ESPN SportsCenter coanchor about overcoming a legacy of pain and forging a new path, no matter how uphill life’s battles might be.

Jemele Hill’s world came crashing down when she called President Trump a “white supremacist”; the White House wanted her fired from ESPN, and she was deluged with death threats. But Hill had faced tougher adversaries growing up in Detroit than a tweeting president. Beneath the exterior of one of the most recognizable journalists in America was a need―a calling―to break her family’s cycle of intergenerational trauma.

Born in the middle of a lively routine Friday night Monopoly game to a teen mother and a heroin-addicted father, Hill constantly adjusted to the harsh realities of not only her own childhood but the inherited generational pain of her mother and grandmother. Her escape was writing.

Hill’s mother was less than impressed with the brassy and bold free expression of her diary, but Hill never stopped discovering and amplifying her voice. Through hard work and a constant willingness to learn, Hill rose from newspaper reporter to columnist to new heights as the coanchor for ESPN’s revered SportsCenter. Soon, she earned respect and support for her fearless opinions and unshakable confidence, as well as a reputation as a trusted journalist who speaks her mind with truth and conviction.

In Jemele Hill’s journey Uphill, she shares the whole story of her work, the women of her family, and her complicated relationship with God in an unapologetic, character-rich, and eloquent memoir.

Hometown: Oxford, PA Resident: Philadelphia, PA Gabrielle has been singing since she could talk. Her music career really took off when she turned a day job at a major supermarket chain into a springboard for her dreams. When she was 20, she auditioned for the store's radio station and was cast in their first-ever a cappella group, consisting of 11 talented employees from across the country. This gave Gabrielle the opportunity to work alongside Cupid on "Cupid Shuffle," perform on "Good Morning America" and star in music videos for social media. Even with all of her success, Gabrielle came from humble beginnings. She was raised in a three-bedroom trailer with her mom, four younger sisters, and an honorary auntie" Despite facing times without power or heat and her mother's struggle with mental health, Gabrielle has immense respect for her mom, who raised her family with limited resources. Gabrielle's relationship with her father was distant growing up, but, after he was involved in a severe car accident that left him partially immobile, she rekindled their bond. This tragic event, along with Gabrielle becoming an adult, not only brought them closer than ever before, but also motivated Gabrielle to pursue her musical dreams.

SYDNEY STERLACE

Team Gwen

Hometown & Resident of Buffalo, NY Although Sydney is the only musical one in her family, she has always had their full support throughout her journey. It began with competing in local talent shows when she was 7 and by the time she was 10, she had already struck gold by winning first place in the Erie County Fair Talent Competition. She has since kept that momentum, singing the national anthem at a Buffalo Sabres game this year and multiple Buffalo Bisons games. She has also been a regular performer at a local music arts festival organized by Robby Takac of the Goo Goo Dolls. Her dedicated mom has played a crucial role in Sydney's success, including scouting singing opportunities on social media to finding local competitions for Sydney to compete. Sydney recently won a TikTok challenge promoted by Broadway Evolved. Unsure if the competition was real and never dreaming it would lead to anything, Sydney was blown away when she won. She was flown out to New York on an all-expenses-paid trip for a weeklong Broadway intensive with Betsy Wolfe, an experience she will never forget.
