Mari Volar is an international comedian, MC and event producer from Estonia. Since starting out in stand up comedy in 2019, she has performed to sold-out crowds at various festivals (Edinburgh Fringe 2023, Tallinn Fringe 2022 and 2023; Hundertpro Festival 2021, 2022 and 2023), co-founded the first women-centric comedy festival in Luxembourg (Festrogen Festival) and performed at countless comedy events across Europe.

What does Jealousy in the workplace look like? 

Because I speak to alot of women in different spaces and this topic comes up in very diverse shape and forms. And no...Nobody has ever turned green with envy. That's not what happens in the real world. And so here's why it's confusing..because on the one hand you want to connect and be part of a meaningful work culture where you trust and honor your co-workers. But that doesn't always happen. 

Jealousy – if we are truly introspective is actually a mask emotion. It's a mask for something else, and it tells us something about ourselves. It's usually something we don't want to see...

For instance you might be an older women who is jealous of your younger female colleaugu, on the face of it you probably dislike her because she comes across as arrogant and self-assured. But on a deeper level it could be something you admire and wish you possesed when you were younger – this ability to speak your mind without having to compromise yourself. 

Sometimes we are jealous of women who are actually very similar to us, but the difference is they have the courage to step into their most authentic self – resonating with incredible self-belief.

Elizabeth Gilbert is the author of ten books — most famously her 2006 memoir EAT PRAY LOVE, which has been translated into over thirty languages, and sold 12 million copies worldwide. Mandy Sanghera is an award-winning philanthropist and global campaigner often referred to as a global catalyst. As well as being an international human rights activist,  motivational and TEDx speaker from the UK, Mandy has traveled all over the world, empowering and motivating others. 

With over three decades of experience, Mandy is an expert in various development-related fields. She has been driving innovation, building strategic partnerships, promoting advocacy, and programming in the areas of human rights, gender equality, accountability, migration and social justice globally

Mandy has helped hundreds of individuals and now reaches thousands through social media and her generous amount of worldwide TV appearances and public speaking engagements.

She has spoken at the US House of Representatives three times and is a regular at the World Economic Forum. She uses such platforms to raise awareness of global issues affecting women, children, and refugees. She has recently supported refugees from Ukraine, Sudan, Syria, and Iraq. Mandy has been involved in evacuating 398 Afghan refugees from Afghanistan with a team of women activists.

Mandy has supported victims of human trafficking and has been involved in supporting the UK government with complex modern slavery cases. 

Mandy has been one of the leads on vulnerable adults and forced marriages. She was involved in writing the guidelines on disability and honor-based violence for the Forced Marriages Unit. Inspired by the outcomes of the Beijing Conference in 1995, Mandy is a feminist and has been advocating for gender equality and girls’/women’s empowerment throughout her career. She has worked on programs to strengthen women’s political participation in local governance and economic empowerment globally. 

Mandy has worked on gender mainstreaming and action to end violence against women and children globally , promoting cross-regional programmatic collaboration. She advises government officials, local authorities, and providers on disability equality, participation, inclusion, and rights issues, as well as harmful practices and gender equality. 
Mandy has been involved in research and campaigning programs. She has led several projects with leading charities addressing cultural barriers, stereotypes, misconceptions, barriers, safeguarding, abuse, mentoring, participation, and rights as a global change maker.

Advocating for human rights and gender equality, she works with grassroots projects that help women and girls achieve their individual and collective potential, realize aspirations, and have an equal voice in communities worldwide.

Mandy has been a global voice tackling unconscious bias in tech and A I. Mandy has spoken at some of the world's biggest tech summits, such as GITEX, CogX, Women of Silicon Valley Roundabout, and Teens In AI Data+AI summit, and she is speaking in Italy at We Make Future MEETICTBahrain.

Mandy has been involved in empowering the next generation to get involved in AI. She has had representatives from over 140 countries at her hackathons regarding AI for social good. She comes up with challenges and ideas.

Mandy has supported organizations and individuals to explore NFTs. Last year, she used art from refugees in Afghanistan to raise funds for them. Mandy is a global ambassador for ethics in AI and Tech.

​Nonhle Beryl is a South African born, German based singer and songwriter. With a vocal range that spans four octaves and a distinctive tone and timbre. Her unique singing style, her vocal flexibility,  and also an openness and understanding of different cultures sets her apart and keeps her delivering excellent performances repeatedly.  After completing her studies in the Performing Arts at both The New York Film Academy and the Tswhane University of Technology, Nonhle has built up an impressive resumé over the last decade.

She's starred in musical productions such as Disney's The Lion King, Hairspray, and Hair, just to name a few. She was also a contestant on The Voice of Germany  and on the premiere season of The X Factor South Africa.

Adrianne C. Smith is the Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer at FleishmanHillard, one of the world’s leading communications and marketing agencies. She helps drive the organization’s mission to become the most inclusive agency in the world. 

Adrianne is also the Founder and Visionary of the Can: Diversity Collective, a nonprofit created to give access and exposure to young adults of color and underrepresented communities to global thought leadership conferences in communications, advertising, marketing, creativity, economics, innovation and technology.

In 2018, she launched a program where rising stars in the advertising and creative industry got the opportunity to attend and participate in the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.

In 2019, Adrianne launched the first-ever DE&I activation at Cannes called “Inkwell Beach,” named as a tribute to the historic beach in Martha’s Vineyard, which was a place of solace for Black people during segregation. 

By 2023, what started six years ago – as a small group of young professionals has grown into a cohort of more than two dozen young people from five continents. In 2023, Adrianne was named ADCOLOR’s DEI Executive of the Year.

Novelist and  presenter: Kate Mueser talks to us about he debut novel, The Girl with Twenty Fingers. We discuss her book, her process and how she got this done while pregnant with twins. 

Kate Mueser was going to become a concert pianist, but instead became a bilingual storyteller with a penchant for music. She spent over a decade working for German broadcaster Deutsche Welle, where she reported and presented an award-winning documentary feature on the future of the book and hosted a TV show on German pop music, a web video series, and a youth radio show. Kate holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Piano Performance from Indiana University and a Masters Degree in Modern European Studies from Columbia University. A California native, she has spent nearly her entire adult life in Germany, with brief interruptions in New York City and Las Vegas. The Girl with Twenty Fingers, her debut novel, was largely written while she was pregnant with her twins, during her toddler’s naps.

Karolina Decker, is a long-standing financial expert, entrepreneur, mother and, as co-founder of finmarie, Mind the Gap e.V. and Schulgold, she is particularly committed to financial education for women and students.

After earning two master's degrees in business, Karolina initially began a 10-year career as an executive in international banks, working  with projects in asset and wealth management and compliance. 

She became one of the few female traders.

Early on, Karolina realized that women have a different approach to their wealth accumulation, ask different questions, have different needs and goals. 

Far too few women take an active approach to their financial situation and future. Karolina has been involved in financial education since 2017 with her non-profit organization 'Mind The Gap' and in 2018 with finmarie. She is considered one of the pioneers in this field.

Sanjeev Singh has over 40 years of experience in film acquisition and distribution in South Africa.

As Head of Acquisition and Distribution of Videovision Entertainment, Sanjeev has acquired films across genres for distribution. These range from small independent documentaries, Foreign Language and Arthouse films to multi-million dollar blockbuster films. Recent acquisitions include Khalil Gibran’s The Prophet, Wolf Totem, The Little Prince, I Am Woman, and Oscar Nominee, Les Miserables.

Sanjeev has executive produced a number of motion pictures made under the banner of Videovision Entertainment, among which are Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom, Kite, More Than Just A Game, the Oscar Nominated Yesterday, Red Dust, Barack Obama: People’s President and more. He was also associate producer on Bravo Two Zero, Sarafina! and Cry, The Beloved Country and Co-Producer on the hit SA Television Series, Imbewu: The Seed and House of Zwide.

In 2020 he was appointed as an Executive Committee member and Vice Chair of the Independent Producers Organization of South Africa.

Dubai based content creator, entrepreneur and TV presenter, and host of US based travel show, Great Getaways, has been awarded ‘Best International Program’ at the Taste Awards in Los Angeles.
Marty, who is based in Dubai for over 12 years, joined the Allen Media Group in early 2022 as the host of Great Getaways and Pets.TV; channels that focus on travel, lifestyle and wildlife around the world.
An avid traveler and destination curator, Zahirah focused much of her content for the show in the first year in and around the continent of Africa, with plans to expand to the Middle East in upcoming weeks.
Over the last few years, Zahirah has worked with many leading travel and tourism stakeholders from airlines to global hotel groups, and luxury mobility partners. Having visited many incredible destinations, this year sees the launch of Zahirah’s group tours, where she will host small groups of enthusiastic travelers around some of her favorite locations in the world, including her home city of Dubai.
When she isn’t traveling or creating destination content, Zahirah draws on her PR and marketing background, as well as her unique training skills to host corporate training sessions, panel discussions around travel and destination marketing, and speaks at leading global events. Rahel Demant is the co-founder of XR Bootcamp, a global academy for VR/AR development and training. She co-founded VR First, a global network organisation of over 850 universities and 410 Science Parks. Since its foundation in 2016, she has led the program to a network of thousands of developers. XR Bootcamp further supports the extended reality Creators community with free and open lectures and knowledge-sharing groups.  Dr. Colette White trained and worked in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. After completing her medical studies at Queen’s University, Belfast in 2003, she successfully passed the examination for entry to the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG), London in 2010. She specialized in the medical and surgical management of benign gynaecological conditions, and in 2015, completed the Advanced Special Study Module in the Management of Menopause through the RCOG.

Following her move to Germany with her young family and the attainment of her German Approbation, Dr. White founded MenoCare—a practice dedicated to helping women embrace the opportunities of midlife by taking control of their health and enhancing their quality of life.

Guided by the latest research, Dr. White is committed to patient-centred, holistic care. She takes the time to understand each patient’s full health picture and how their symptoms are affecting their daily life. Her approach includes assessing the risk of conditions such as osteoporosis and recommending evidence-based, modern, and safe therapies—including body-identical or bio-identical hormones, supported by vitamins and micronutrients when appropriate—to relieve symptoms and improve long-term health outcomes.

Vidya Munde-Müller was voted as one of Germany's most inspiring women over 40.
 Born in an Indian slum she was the first woman in her family to go to college.
 
She shares her key lessons born from taking risks as the Founder of smart donation and engagement platform Givetastic. Vidya has learned from her mistakes and has it as her life goal to make the world a better place through entrepreneurship.

With 10 years’ experience in the telecom and internet industry and a certificate in Innovation and Entrepreneurship from Stanford University Graduate School of Business, Vidya is now helping other entrepreneurs navigate the ins and outs of building a business as the Director of the Founder Institute in Frankfurt. Full of innovative ideas,  this wonder woman is also collaborating with some universities to create a mental health app.

Forty three years ago, Margaret Hirsch helped found the family’s mega appliance store, Hirsch’s in South Africa. Today, Hirsch’s own 19 Hirsch branches nationwide, it's quite an achievement for the company's humble beginnings. As Executive Director at Hirsch’s, Margaret has evolved into the brand's ambassador.

Margaret is a champion of women’s empowerment, having been there once herself. When she was 12 her father died leaving her mother to fend for herself and two small children. Margaret’s strong sense of survival and her positive attitude helped pull her family through the tough times. Having had to battle from an early age, she was determined to get ahead. 

Margaret went back to get her matric certificate at the age of 60, by the age of 70 she had her degree, and her MBA, all while working full time on the business. 

Margaret regards herself as a “jack of all trades”. Having done the selling, invoicing, demonstrating, being a delivery person on the trucks, installing and demonstrating in customers' homes and generally taking care of everything at Hirsch's for the past 43 years. 

“We have built Hirsch’s from a tiny little “mom and pop’s” store to a billion rand company and I hope that I will be an inspiration to others to know that they can live their dreams as well,” she says.

Personally I loved that Margaret has improved and reinvented herself to accommodate the changing landscape of the business world, taking on social media marketing like a pro. I chatted to her about her how she's had to reinvent herself over the years. So much wisdom was imparted.

In this episode we chat with Mamuteane Mmutle. 

As the Managing Director for Lucid Berlin GmbH, Mamuteane Mmutle leads a team of creatives committed to conceptualising, designing, and implementing sustainable and innovative digital solutions with partners and clients committed to creating sustainable projects that positively impact communities and the planet.

In the past, she has also led scores of international teams toward efficiency through the concept and implementation of business processes with full project budget accountability. After over a decade of orchestrating multidisciplinary teams, her talents include needs analysis, customer experience enhancement, and quality assurance. 

Mamuteane Mmulte earned her Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration and Management from the Mikpark Business School in Johannesburg, South Africa. She spearheaded multidisciplinary teams in the Financial, energy, NGO, Development corporation, and Government sectors within her career. Some of the most recent clients include  Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), the Swiss foreign office, African Union Commission, and the Centre for women's global leadership. Her expertise won the Star Performer Award from the South African Revenue Service (SARS) in  2004 and 2005. Mamuteane enjoys bringing structure and function to physical spaces when she's not bringing order out of chaos.

I was single, almost done with my degree and felt like a failure, because I was comparing my success to what society dictated success to look like. 

10 years later, I revisit the definition of success and what it means to me now. Things look a whole lot different.
