| A Pod of Their Own , Episode 212: Inside the Mets are two wolves | 28 Aug 2024 | 01:13:22 | |
Welcome back to A Pod of Their Own, an all-women led Home Run Applesauce podcast where we talk all things Mets, social justice issues in baseball, and normalize female voices in the sports podcasting space.
This week, we begin by discussing the tenuous hold the Mets have on playoff contention, in part because the Braves cannot be killed. We also discuss Francisco Lindor’s case for NL MVP, whether David Peterson is in fact Good, Francisco Alvarez being ruined by Eric Chavez, Liz Benn leaving the Mets, and more.
Our 2024 Dollars for Dingers campaign is underway and you can make a pledge using this Google spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1n2eZFl_nmzP4C83ccbb61Ggwz2r7m-kapJ6L0SXz4IU/edit?usp=sharing
We also hope to see you on September 21st at EBBS at Citi Field at 1:30pm for our raffle event prior to the Mets game!
In the second half of the show, we shout out this article from Marisa Ignemi at the San Francisco Chronicle about female athletes suffering from CTE and the research that needs to be done on how CTE affects women.
Finally, we wrap things up with Walk-off Wins, where each of us talks about what’s making us happy this week, baseball-related or otherwise.

| Flushing is Burning: Trade Deadline Spectacular 2024! | 04 Aug 2024 | 00:43:45 | |
Grace is back after a pretty busy Trade Deadline. The Mets made several moves, and Grace breaks them down. She talks both what the Mets got (quite a bit) and what they gave up (not that much). And she talks about the players not only now but in the months and, in certain cases, years to come.
Next Grace gets into the rest of the major deadline moves. The good ones, the not so good ones, and the ones that appear to be heading towards possible disaster. And she breaks down what they mean for teams in the playoff hunt and in certain cases, players themselves.
Finally, Grace's movie minute is not just a movie, but an experience. 4DX has never been utilized better, and Grace recommends taking advantage of a newly announced rerelease at the end of the month for a very fun time.

We introduced a new segment this week where we answered some emails, one of which suggested a lyric change in “Meet the Mets”.

| UnforMETable, Episode 2: David West | 09 Apr 2019 | 00:16:55 | |
Welcome to UnforMETable, a new show from Amazin’ Avenue that looks back on less heralded, more obscure, but quintessential Mets players from the past
This week, Rob Wolff travels back in time to the late 80s to look at the hyped prospect background and brief Met career of David West. Relive his Met debut in a rare era of unbridled Met fan optimism until the formerly “untouchable” prospect was deemed very touchable as the 1989 team tried to replace an injured Dwight Gooden for a playoff push, landing West in Minnesota, where he would eventually earn himself the World Series ring we wish he got in 1988.

Welcome back to Amazin’ Avenue Audio, where we’re debuting a brand new show this week from the women of Amazin’ Avenue called A Pod of Their Own, which will run every Wednesday once the regular season begins.
A Pod of Their Own is a show where we talk about all things Mets, but where we also take a look at various baseball issues through a lens of social justice. But more than anything else, this is a show that aims to normalize female voices in the sports podcasting space.
In our debut episode, we begin by discussing the conspicuous absence of a Jacob deGrom extension.
We then tie this into the larger labor issues in baseball surrounding extensions, service time manipulation, and free agency.
Next, we introduce a segment we’re calling Walk-off Wins, where each of us talks about what’s making us happy this week and what we can’t stop thinking about, baseball-related or otherwise.
Finally, we wrap things up with a very special giveaway for our listeners to celebrate the launch of the new show!

Another week, another episode! Grace starts with the somewhat breaking news of Senga's shutdown, and how depressing that is to hear. Grace then tries to liven the mood with what Mets fans can look forward to this season, but it's definitely hard to get any real hopes up.
Then, Grace goes into general baseball news, starting with the big topic of the week: the terrible new jerseys that seem to have problems from head to cleats. Then she gets into Rob Manfred's announcement of this being his final term, and the legacy he will leave.
Then, a double movie minute of two fun movies that exceeded Grace's expectations and are newly available on digital for home viewing!
