#41 Hockey 2 Hell And Back Ft. Darcy Rota22 Apr 202101:25:55

Join Brady when he is joined by his one time General Manager and Vancouver Canuck legend Darcy Rota, Live Wednesday April 21, 2021 on facebook, youtube or twitter. Back in 2006 Brady walked away from the Swift Current Broncos due to mental health issues. Upon his return home, the Burnaby Express (Coquitlam now) came knocking with Darcy Rota at the helm. In the first 3 games Brady had 9 points playing on a line with long time NHLer Kyle Turris but that is where the fun ended. Brady quickly slipped back into addiction and didn't finish the season with the Express who went on to win the National Championship. Darcy was one of few people who always had Brady's back, watch live to find out the whole story. Darcy Irwin Rota (born February 16, 1953) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player who spent eleven seasons in the National Hockey League. Born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Darcy's formative years including Bantam / Midget level hockey were in Prince George, British Columbia. Rota played his junior hockey with the Edmonton Oil Kings of the WCHL, helping the club reach the Memorial Cup in 1971 and 1972. A dangerous sniper, he led the WCHL in goals in 1972–73, notching 73 in just 68 games en route to a 129-point season. Following the season, he was selected 13th overall by the Chicago Black Hawks in the 1973 NHL Amateur Draft. Rota stepped straight into the Black Hawks' roster in 1973–74, and turned in a solid rookie season with 21 goals and 33 points in 74 games. Over the next several seasons, Rota developed into a solid, gritty, two-way player who made a solid contribution at both ends of the ice, although he didn't develop into the type of scorer it was thought he could be when he was drafted. He scored at least 20 goals in each of his first four seasons in Chicago, with his best year as a Black Hawk coming in 1976–77 when he co-lead the team with 24 goals. Late in the 1978–79 season, Rota was dealt along with Ivan Boldirev to the Atlanta Flames in a blockbuster trade which saw Tom Lysiak moving to Chicago.[1] He started off well in Atlanta with 9 goals in 13 games to close the season, but struggled in 1979–80 with just 18 points through 44 games. Midway through the season, he and Boldirev were dealt again, this time to the Vancouver Canucks, giving a delighted Rota a chance to play for his hometown team. Rota's first full season as a Canuck in 1980–81 would be the best in his career to that point, as he notched career highs with 25 goals and 56 points. He would miss a substantial chunk of the 1981–82 campaign with a knee injury, but was a key component of the squad which reached the 1982 Stanley Cup finals, notching 6 goals in 17 playoff games. For the 1982–83 season, Rota spent much of the year on a dynamic line with Thomas Gradin and Stan Smyl, and turned in the finest year of his career. He led the team in goals with 42 and finished with 81 points, both of which set club records (since broken by Markus Näslund) for a left winger. Rota continued to excel in 1983–84, and was selected to play in his first NHL All-Star Game. He appeared to be on target for another season of close to 40 goals when he suffered a serious neck injury on a check from Jay Wells of the Los Angeles Kings. He managed to return for the playoffs, but was eventually forced to undergo spinal fusion surgery in the summer of 1984. He attempted to rejoin the Canucks in November of that year, but was warned that he risked further injury if he continued to play. After a few practices, he opted to retire. Rota finished his career with 256 goals and 239 assists for 495 points in 794 NHL games, along with 973 penalty minutes. Rota Fans called themselves the "Rota Rooters"! Management career Rota was hired to work in public relations for the Canucks, and served in various positions in the team's front office, including a spell as Director of Player Development, until they parted ways in 1990. He then spent a stretch working for the NHL as an assistant to league president John Ziegler. From 1994 to 1996 he served as a commentator on Canucks TV telecasts alongside Jim Robson. In 1998, Rota became head coach of the expansion Burnaby Bulldogs of the BCHL. Rota resides in the city of Coquitlam, and in 2000 he became part-owner, president, and general manager of the expansion Coquitlam Express of the BCHL. He built the team which won the 2006 Royal Bank Cup. Rota left the organization after the 2014 season

After he found out that all equipment and sticks were shipped from the USA at a massive cost he decided to make 1 stick to see if he could do it. After 3 years he met his future wife and moved to Argentina. They moved to Ushuaia because there is the only full size ice rink in all of South America there. He’s been an actor, a musician (bass player for the Elvis Pawns, named for the local Manitoba pawn shop that provided the PA system) the owner-operator of a junior league Tier III hockey team (where he rode the Zamboni and tossed ice cream bars to the crowd) and a professional hockey player. In fact, Butters was in such demand as a hockey player that, in 1991-92, he was traded four times in a single AHL season. (“The other team always wanted me more,” he explained.)

#62 Hockey 2 Hell And Back Ft. Sheldon Souray19 Jul 202101:54:37
Brady welcomes Sheldon Souray to the show and they discuss his life in hockey and how he overcame his addiction.   Sheldon Souray (born July 13, 1976) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman who played 13 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the New Jersey Devils, Montreal Canadiens, Edmonton Oilers, Dallas Stars, and Anaheim Ducks. He was best known for his heavy slapshot, once setting a previous unofficial NHL record for the hardest recorded shot at the Oilers' 2009 Skills Competition. Souray was born in Elk Point, Alberta, to Richard Souray and Lillian Parenteau. He is of Métis descent and has one sister, two years older. At a young age, Souray moved with his family from Fishing Lake Métis Settlement to a small community in Alberta in order for his sister to attend school. In another two years, they moved again so that Souray could play organized sports. While still in elementary school, Souray's parents divorced; he first lived with his mother before moving in with his father at age nine. Growing up, he attended Archbishop O'Leary Catholic High School with former fellow Oiler Fernando Pisani. Souray has a tattoo of a Métis Chief in full headdress on his arm. He says the tattoo is meant as a reminder to himself to be a positive role model for Native and Métis children, as he himself is proud of his Métis heritage.   Brought to you by: pucksupport.com - Promo Code save20% @truetemperhockey
#63 Hockey 2 Hell And Back Ft. Ryan Johansen NHL Allstar22 Jul 202101:22:18

Johansen debuted in the NHL with the Columbus Blue Jackets on Oct. 7, 2011, against the Nashville Predators, and would make history that season: He was the first player in the League to score his team's first three game-winning goals in a season since Brian Propp of the Philadelphia Flyers in 1982-83. He got his first NHL point with an assist Oct. 22, 2011, against the Ottawa Senators and scored his first League goal, a game-winner, Oct. 25, 2011, against Ty Conklin of the Detroit Red Wings. In 2012-13 Johansen led the Blue Jackets in face-off wins with 272 and scored his first NHL shootout goal on March 10 at Detroit. Johansen was the youngest NHL player to score 30 goals in 2013-14 and joined Rick Nash and Geoff Sanderson as players with 30-goal seasons in Blue Jackets history. The center led Columbus in goals (33), points (63), multipoint games (16), shots on goal (237) and faceoff wins (692). Johansen made his Stanley Cup Playoff debut April 16, 2012, and scored his first NHL playoff goal three days later; both came against the Pittsburgh Penguins in the first round. In 2014-15, Johansen became the fourth player in Blue Jackets history to have 70 points in a season, joining Nick Foligno (2014-15), Nash (2008-09) and Ray Whitney (2002-03). He had an NHL season-best 13-game point streak from Dec. 18, 2014-Jan. 17, 2015. Johansen was named NHL All-Star Game MVP after getting two goals and four points on Jan. 25, 2015, at Nationwide Arena in Columbus. Traded by Columbus to the Nashville Predators on Jan. 6, 2016, for Seth Jones, Johansen had eight goals and 34 points in 42 games with the Predators in 2015-16. He had a goal and an assist in his Nashville debut Jan. 8, 2016, against the Colorado Avalanche. Johansen had 13 points (three goals, 10 assists) in 14 Stanley Cup Playoff games for Nashville in the 2017 Stanley Cup Playoffs before being sidelined with a serious leg injury sustained in Game 4 of the Western Conference Final against the Anaheim Ducks. He required surgery and was unable to play during the Cup Final, when the Predators lost to the Pittsburgh Penguins in six games. However, he rebounded with 54 points (15 goals, 39 assists) during the regular season and 14 points (five goals, nine assists) in 14 playoff games. Johansen was selected by Columbus with the No. 4 pick in the 2010 NHL Draft after scoring 25 goals and 69 points for Portland of the Western Hockey League in 2009-10. He ranked second among WHL rookies in assists (44) and points (69) that season and led rookies with 12 assists and 18 points during the 2009-10 playoffs. He led Portland with 40 goals and 92 points in 2010-11, and was the league's top playoff scorer with 28 points (13 goals), helping his team reach the league final. Johansen helped Canada finish second at the 2011 IIHF World Junior Championship and was named to the tournament all-star team after scoring three goals and nine points in seven games.

#66 Hockey 2 Hell And Back Ft. Harlan Kingfisher Founder of Smudge The Blades02 Aug 202101:12:20

Harlan Kingfisher is a husband, a dad of 4 and First Nations hockey player from Sturgeon Lake Saskatchewan. Playing hockey growing up and eventually moving around Canada playing junior and college hockey had such a positive impact on his life. First Nations hockey in Canada isn’t just a sport it’s a cultural celebration. Nothing beats a game where the stands are packed with fans cheering for their home Rez, pow wow playing on the speakers before plays, bannock and stew being served at the concession, sweetgrass getting lit and smudging the sticks before a big game. Hockey is good medicine and that’s where he got the idea for Smudge the blades apparel. He wants to celebrate First Nations hockey and be able to bring laughter and pride when wearing your Smudge the Blades gear. It’s also his dream to be able to give back to the First Nation hockey community so that it can have the same positive impact on other Native kids that it had on him. A portion of the proceeds will be given back to help First Nation youth across Canada purchase new hockey equipment so they can have a chance to Smudge, Snipe and Celly.
