How White Supremacy Harms Us All with Leah Kim26 Aug 202400:40:05

In this episode I welcome Leah Kim, host of the excellent podcast Voices on the Side which centers stories of marginalised identities as an antidote to white supremacy.

Her guests have a variety of backgrounds. Some are thought leaders actively focused on the fight for collective liberation, whilst others share stories rooted in their personal history.

As people of the global majority, Leah's podcast contributes to resisting oppression through an insistence to live, create, be seen and heard, exploring narratives that remind us of our shared humanity. I came across Leah's podcast Voices on the Side through her episode with Paris Abbas entitled Beyond Colonial Spirituality, and immediately I felt like this was someone that I needed to connect and converse with.

Enjoy.

#42. Create a Nurturing, Meaningful Life with Chris Geisler06 Nov 202301:45:44

Up on the podcast this week we have Chris Geisler. Chris is Host of the Chris Geisler Podcast, a podcast to explore our nature and nurture a meaningful life. He is the Founder of Men of Earth, a space for men to connect, learn, re-wild, be accountable and gain clarity on their mission. He runs a private online men’s community dedicated to interwork and self-leadership. And in this exact moment in time he might be in the cold plunge, since he is leading a 21 Day Cold Water challenge which started on 1 November.
I connected with Chris recently and what came through most was his commitment to nurturing a meaningful life, both for himself and facilitating that in others. Bringing that alive in this conversation, Chris draws attention to what this really means, including connection and community, purpose and mission and creating the life we really want. His personal mission centres around creating more spaces where we can access more parts of ourselves that we have forgotten about and let go of and using attention and intention to bring these parts back, whether that is through a podcast conversation, retreats and group spaces and challenges or on the dance floor.

In this episode:

- the essence of creating a nurturing, meaningful life and what this means - the importance of mission and purpose - creating community: cultivating connection plus making sacrifices and embracing loneliness to open up into deeper friendships and relationships - building trust in ourselves and our lives - shifting suppressed emotion and pent up anger into healthy emotional fluidity - opening our hearts where they might have been previously shut down and connecting back to feeling - creating space for grief within our own emotional experience and wider collective spaces - getting closer to our roots and rekindling our separation from natural environments
- stretching our limitations on what we’ve made possible for ourselves
- building and joining collective spaces to discover long-lost parts of ourselves
- the healing and transformational power of cold water therapy in expanding our tolerance, resilience and comfort zones
All this and more!

#39. Responsibility Wellness: Radically Empowering Yourself in Your Health with Carelle Rose18 Sep 202301:27:36

Up on the podcast this week we have Carelle Rose of Fire Fly Formula. Carelle is a reflexologist, a face yoga instructor and a Gua Sha Therapist. Carelle supports people embarking on a facial fitness journey via her online facial fitness membership, encouraging members to consider natural alternatives to injectables by training their facial muscles via Face Yoga, Facial Massage and Gua Sha.

I started following Carelle on instagram when she was on a deep journey to treat her psoriasis, taking a multi-pronged.. well, ALL the prongs, approach to healing. I was very inspired and over the past year I’ve resonated with so much of her story and her shares as they reflect my own experience healing my hormones and reversing my PCOS. Our approaches really align in terms of radical ownership, radical responsibility and radical prioritisation when it comes to our health, doing the “hard things” in order to get the results you want, connecting to the why behind why you’re doing it, getting to the root cause over endlessly treating symptoms and all in all taking this sense of new-found empowerment in our health into all aspects of our lives.

In this episode: - the importance of educating yourself and doing your own research when it comes to your health - taking radical responsibility for all aspects of your healing - the impact stress has on the body even after the mind has moved on - bringing the mind and body back into alignment to support health and healing - making conscious choices in all aspects of your life to support your wellbeing and connecting to the why behind your choices - practising patience for long-term gain over quick-fixes for immediate results - creating new habits which over time become the new norm - discovering radical empowerment through radical prioritisation and ownership
Find Carelle on instagram @fireflyformula where you can enquire about her 1:1 consultations and Fire Fly Face Fit memberships, her podcast "The Bits In Between" and discover more about her journey of holistic wellbeing.

#38. How to Create Long-lasting, Meaningful Change with Eddie Sullivan30 Aug 202301:02:10

Up on the podcast this week we have Eddie Sullivan (@mangomanmovement) Eddie is a movement and wellness coach, a husband and father of two. He has studied and trained in multiple movement disciplines and spiritual philosophies offering a unique perspective and experience for his clients. He is passionate about helping people to create meaningful long lasting change using methods that are thoughtful, consistent and manageable.

When I first spoke to Eddie, I was struck by what an incredible story he had, starting his life in an environment of drugs, violence and crime, hitting rock-bottom which was the catalyst for changing his world, struggling with addiction and committing to finding another way. Comparing where he was, to where he is now appears to be a huge quantum leap into a different reality, which it is. Yet, what Eddie draws attention to in this conversation is that it is a journey of a thousand steps, ten thousand steps, mirroring as he says the journey of not only the tortoise but of the snail. It being a marathon, not a sprint. And I feel this is so vital to recognise for anyone wanting to create meaningful, long-lasting change. We all too easily set the massive goals and give up long before getting there, because we don’t break it down into daily, weekly, monthly, yearly actions. And we look at other people who’ve achieved that and assume they’ve got some secret sauce we don’t have access to rather than understanding they too took thousands of steps to get there. I love talking to people like Eddie with incredibly powerful stories of personal transformation because it truly models what is possible and available.

In this episode:

- how rock-bottom moments can catalyse change

-shifting your environment to shift your perspective

& behaviours

- tools to help you create new habits

- following through on the small things to build self trust for the big things

- developing new connections and friendships

- small steps that compound into giant quantum leaps

- handling resistance and getting out of our heads

- common roadblocks to long lasting change

- disrupting our patterns by coming out of autopilot

- "doing the do-able" and letting go of our own limiting beliefs

#37. Living in Devotion: to Self and to Life with Betty Lewis-Griffiths23 Aug 202300:57:57

Up on the podcast this week we have my beautiful friend and soul sister, ceremonialist, breath work practitioner and women’s guide, Betty Lewis Griffiths. Betty joined me for Episode 8. Love and Loss: reclaiming joy, peace and meaning in times of grief, which we recorded together six months after the passing of Betty’s mum back in 2021. 18 months on, I wanted to circle back to speak to Betty about how life has shifted for her in the past couple of years, with her mum’s death acting as a huge catalyst for deepening her work and her own relationship with love, life and death. Devotion, both to self and to life itself has become central to the way she lives her life, infusing the way she holds ceremony, the presence she cultivates with her clients, finding hidden pockets of joy all around and the way she prioritises herself and her needs, something that a lot of people struggle with amongst demanding lives and a busy culture. In this episode we discuss what she sees as living a devotional life, not just lighting candles and incense, but actually going back to basics so that we eat, sleep, breathe and connect better to keep falling more and more in love with this sacred life we have.

In this episode:

- Betty's passage of grief following the death of her mother in 2021

- how devotion emerged as a way of life and continues to evolve

- what it means for Betty to 'live a devotional life'

- the symptoms - individual and collective - of us living outside of devotion

- a devotional approach to eating, resting, movement and taking it back to basics

- living in accordance with the cycles of nature and using nature as the blueprint

Working one to one and delivering group workshops and programmes, Betty uses breath, sound and self-inquiry to facilitate transformation and enable others to connect with their true essence.

#36. Giving Ourselves Permission with Megan Cooper16 Aug 202300:09:21

This theme has been popping up with clients all over the place recently so I felt to share some reflections and insights to act as inspiration and a catalyst for deeper healing, releasing and transformation. We are all consciously or subconsciously pertaining to certain rules we've created around what we can and can't do and often when we want to create change or grow, we need to give ourselves full permission to do so. Sometimes we might be unconsciously waiting for someone else to give us permission, often our parents or care-givers, from our peers or remnants of memories from growing up. Perhaps we'll receive that, perhaps we won't, and ultimately as we continue to forge our own path in life and move into greater truth and authenticity with ourselves, we must become adept at granting OURSELVES permission. Over and over. And on a bigger and bigger scale until we are fully free. Enjoy!

#35. Mastering Your Nervous System with Jonny Miller04 Aug 202301:13:51

Up on the podcast this week we have Jonny Miller. Jonny is an emotional resilience researcher, host of the Curious Humans podcast and Founder of 'Nervous System Mastery' — a cohort based course for cultivating calm & agency over your internal state. I met Jonny many years ago whilst we were both living in Canggu, Bali and have since followed his journey with intrigue, partaking too in his September 2022 cohort of Nervous System Mastery. My partner and I benefitted so significantly from the course individually and also as a couple in partnership. Understanding the language of our nervous system is immensely powerful and necessary for our optimal wellbeing and to give us greater agency in our lives, so I've been so looking forward to recording and sharing this conversation with Jonny.

In this episode:

- Jonny's experience with other modalities and how this led him into the nervous system
- what exactly is the nervous system and why should we care about it
- using the nervous system to avoid burn-out
- an overview of polyvagal theory and how this informs us on our nervous system states
- tools and practices that have helped Jonny and his clients, including longer term approaches to benefit our system over time, things to implement immediately whilst experiencing disregulation and techniques to keep working on our triggers when we are regulated and safe
- approaching our triggers as teachers and gifts to build our emotional resilience

#34. Re-parenting Ourselves and Connecting to The Mother Archetype with Megan Cooper28 Jul 202300:19:42

Earlier this month I turned 34 and with it I felt the transition into a new chapter and a new energy in my life. I don’t always feel this on birthdays. In fact the last birthday I think I felt such a gear shift was turning 27, the start of our Saturn Return. For this this birthday was an initiation from The Maiden into The Mother archetype, leaving behind a 9 year cycle of more playful experimentation and coming into grounded stability and depth within my work, my partnership, my relationships, my presence and my life in general. It inspired me to share some reflections and it felt even more apt and synchronistic that this is Episode 34.
In this episode: - natural feminine archetypal transitions from maiden, to mother, to crone - life occurrences which might catapult us into a different archetypal energy, such as becoming mothers ourselves or losing a parent but also how to harness and embody these transitions for ourselves - the mother wound we are experiencing with our collective disconnection from the divine and sacred feminine - the significance of re-parenting ourselves and attending to the unmet needs of our past to heal our inner child - the invitation to practise radical self-care through re-mothering ourselves in the same way we might choose to care for our own children or those we love most
I would love to hear your insights and takeaways from this episode. You can contact me via my website higher-love.com or via my instagram @higherlove_withmegan

#33. Healing Relationship Patterns: Turn Your Pain into Power with Alex Croxford21 Jul 202301:16:40

Up on the podcast this week we have Alex Croxford. Alex is a transformational coach who supports women to heal their relationship issues from the root in order to cultivate deeper connection, inner peace and freedom. Her vision is to break down the protective walls humanity has built around their hearts so that love can rule the world.

About Alex:

In 2018, Alex found herself in total despair; beneath the surface of her ‘perfect life’ her marriage had started to disintegrate along with the relationship to her body and her emotional health. She soon discovered that the problems were not external but instead deeply rooted within herself and set about on a path of deep healing and transformation, peeling back the layers, addressing her core wounds and unprocessed trauma, conditioning and limiting beliefs and renavigating feminine and masculine energetics. On the other side, she found new love, a new partnership and a new life path fully aligned to who she truly is and came here to be. The message of her journey is that there is light on the other side of heartbreak and it can be the catalyst to great awakening, to loving yourself and others and trusting life again.

Beyond Feminism: A Bold Conversation on Celebrating Masculinity with Sophie Alexandra Wurr20 Aug 202400:42:51

"I'm not drinking out of that!"

This line, delivered after I handed her a Feminist mug, was the catalyst for this conversation, with my friend Sophie Alexandra Wurr. Our differing opinions on feminism and the stickiness of proffering challenging views, especially on social media where nuance is very often lost. In this episode we discuss societal constructs of womanhood and the feminine, the split of purity verses the erotic, moving towards a society catering more for women as women, the troubles of censorship when talking about these topics and the necessity to champion the healthy masculine and healthy MEN for balance and harmony on an individual and collective level.

About Sophie: Inviting women into remembrance through the Sacred Feminine Mysteries. Cyclical & sensual embodiment to reclaim the fullness of your feminine nature. Come back into right relationship with the masculine. Embrace the gifts of your feminine essence.

#31. Mindful Movement for Mindful Living with Charlotte Holmes03 Jul 202301:08:32

Up on the podcast this week we have one of my big girl-crushes Charlotte Holmes. I’ve been following Charlotte on Instagram for years and I thought it was about time to get her on the podcast to discuss her area of expertise: MINDFUL MOVEMENT.

#30. Spiritual Arts for the Modern Day with Felix Price27 Jun 202301:00:57

Up on the podcast this week, we have Felix Price. After a spiritual awakening age 20, Felix has spent the last 18 years exploring different traditions and developed a synergy of systems that complement each other to create what he calls Mixed Spiritual Arts, an open umbrella term for all forms of spirituality, sharing the foundation of love, health, gratitude and dedication, ranging across art, music, movement, ceremony and much more.
With Felix’s diverse travels, experiencing diverse spiritual traditions and technologies, I was interested to speak to him about how to connect, what these cultures share, what we’ve as a culture lost or neglected and what we seem to be re-seeking individually and collectively. This is an incredibly thought-provoking and super interesting conversation and for me really blows the lid off our perception of reality and also what we define as “spiritual”.

About Felix:
Felix had a spiritual awakening aged 20 at Glastonbury festival which transformed his life and began his journey into the spiritual arts. Over the 18 years since, he has been exploring many different traditions, and has now developed a synergy of systems that complement each other to create what he calls Mixed Spiritual Arts, an open umbrella term for all forms of spirituality, sharing the foundation of love, health, gratitude and dedication. Felix now makes art in Barbados with his family.

In this episode:
- redefining what we define as spiritual art forms and expression
- what “spiritual traditions” seem to have in common even though they’re from different times, space and geographies
- connecting to wisdom beyond the conscious mind through different practices
- what we seem to be seeking and what perhaps we've lost as a society
- the power of ceremony and the intentionality it brings back to our lives
- ways to connect deeper to yourself and information outside of your immediate mental and sensory perception

#29. The Path to Wholeness with Tatjana Lucia19 Jun 202300:53:16

This week on the podcast we explore the theme of WHOLENESS with my friend and co-facilitator of the Path to Wholeness Retreat, Tatjana Lucia. On 7th September, Tatjana and I will be taking 10 women on a transformational 4 day journey at Meadowsweet in Tuscany, Italy. In this podcast we discuss what influenced and inspired us to co-create this experience and the approach we take within our work.

The word “health” comes from the Old English word ‘hælth' relating to ‘whole’ or ‘a thing that is complete in itself’. Essentially to become healthy is “to make whole.” Our triggers, our traumas, our insecurities, our shames are all aspects of ourselves we reject or push away. Healing happens when we invite back in all parts of us which have been hidden, repressed, forgotten or made wrong. Through reclaiming, we reconnect to a new sense of our innate worth and power.

Tatjana and I share a trauma-informed mind-body-soul approach to healing. Tatjana is a Hypnotherapist and expert in what she calls 'Self Health', reconnecting back to your authenticity and essence. Combined with my transformational approach via EFT, holistic coaching and various healing modalities, we will be taking you on a journey of Self, sisterhood, ancestry and collective through the mind, body and nervous system.

In this episode:

- what is "wholeness" and an approach to underpin health and healing

- the reconnection to Self and what that means

- the reconnection to Sisterhood, how wounding shows up and what is possible the other side

- healing our ancestral and collective trauma to bring us into deeper connection

- the healing power of retreat and group spaces

- what to expect on retreat with us and how to know if this co-creation is right for you

If you are interested to take the ONE FINAL SPOT for this retreat, you can find all the information at https://www.tatjana-lucia.com/path-to-wholeness-retreat

If you'd love to join us in the future but can't on this occasion you can get your name down on the waitlist for 2024.

#28. A Holistic Guide to Fertility with Sophia Tremenheere29 Mar 202300:56:19

Period & Women's Coach, Fertility Awareness Educator and TEDx Speaker Sophia Tremenheere last got together to record Episode 22 Perfect Your Period. Sophia helps women and menstruators to experience happier, healthier periods and is passionate about guiding women to unlock their power, potential and productivity by aligning their life and business/career with their menstrual cycle and coming home to their bodies. She also supports women to chart their cycle for contraception and conception by using the ‘Fertility Awareness Method’.

I thought this episode was a really important conversation to bring to the table since I myself know so many women who have or still do struggle in the area of conception and pregnancy. It seems to be so widespread and part of me wonders what or if there is some way we are collectively living our lives and experiencing the world that is contributing to these challenges, which is not said with any blame or shame or making wrong, but more so we can gain deeper awareness, zoom out and look at what is working and not working and thus make empowered decisions for ourselves on what feels right and good for us.

This conversation brings fertility therefore into a boarder context, encompassing diet, lifestyle, the huge impact of stress, the nervous system, your emotional landscape, your mindset around getting pregnant, beliefs about yourself or your body that you might be unconsciously attached.

This can be a very sensitive topic for a lot of women and couples, whether you are trying to get pregnant or not trying or thinking about trying or have been trying for a while, so please note that everything we discuss here is purely an invitation. It’s not to make right or wrong. It’s not to conflict with any medical advice you’ve been given but to work in conjunction, offering a well-rounded and holistic approach. I invite you to listen with a keen ear and open heart, looking for nuggets of insight that feel right for you. As with all these episodes, take what you like and leave the rest.

If you haven’t already you might wish to go back to Episode 22 to more deeply understand your cycle, which is supportive for you as a woman whether you are trying to get pregnant or not.

In this episode:

- A holistic framework and approach for fertility that can work alongside a purely clinical route

- Known and lesser known reasons why you might be experiencing challenges

- Challenges contributing to collective widespread issues around menstrual, hormonal and fertility issues

- Different methods to measure and monitor your fertile windows

- Creating a healthy mindset around conception and getting pregnant to support the journey

#27. Creating Ceremony and Ritual in the Every Day with Lisa Hood06 Mar 202300:52:54

How can we create ceremony and ritual in the every day? In our busy lives, creating these small windows of intentionality, presence and mindfulness can be so profound and nourishing and not something that has to be reserved for ‘a special occasion’. Lisa Hood - yoga teacher, space holder, author, partner and mum of two - is all about making ceremony and ritual accessible and available. In her book "Moon Yoga" she provides a practical and spiritual guide to exploring the different sides of ourselves through the lunar phases and reintroduces new possibility for ceremony, ritual, flow and ease into our lives led by nature and the ebbs and flows of nature.

In this episode:
- exploring the different lunar phases through movement and practices
- using the different lunar phases to explore the different parts of ourselves and support the pursuit of our goals
- getting back in touch with cyclical living and giving ourselves permission for our energies to change as all nature does
- creating space in a digital age
- redefining ritual and ceremony: the lost art of ceremony in modern life and creating this for ourselves in the every day

About Lisa:

#26. A Holistic Approach to Weight Loss with Lori Aloisio28 Dec 202200:57:24

New Year is a time of looking ahead to what we want to create in the year ahead. Often our goals, resolutions or intentions include better health and wellbeing and for many it zooms in on weight. So many people struggle to maintain or lose weight creating what is a multi-billion dollar weight loss industry.

If this applies to you, have you considered the deeper reasons behind your excess weight or the real journey beyond slogging it at the gym and cutting the calories? This episode with ex nurse Lori Aloisio is a must-listen, outlining the real reasons why we hold onto weight and the process of coming back into alignment with not only our bodies but also our lives to achieve optimal wellbeing. This is a total paradigm shift of what you might have previously thought or known about weight loss.

Lori Aloisio received her Bachelors Degree in Health Care in 2015 and worked as a registered nurse in Finland. Upon falling out of love with how the healthcare system was approaching weight loss and achieving optimal health, she decided to leave nursing to retrain as a Holistic Health Coach and now supports women struggling with weight loss problems. This episode will help you to see a broader picture surrounding your weight and physical health and give you reassurance, a sense of empowerment and agency for any health journey ahead.

In this episode:
- the limitations of the approach taken by the healthcare system in regards to weight
- the multi billion dollar weight loss industry and how it isn’t necessarily helping you
- a new outlook for perceiving weight loss
- how our body is always seeking to rebalance and support us
- deeper reasons why we hold onto weight
- optimal weight as a byproduct of coming into alignment with our true selves
- the role of passion and purpose in our wellbeing
- understanding your menstrual cycle and navigating diet and exercise around our hormonal fluctuations
- the role of pleasure and creating a life that FEELS good so that we feel worthy and deserving regardless of our body size
- a healthy mindset and approach to losing weight filled with self-love as opposed to self-hate and accepting ourselves fully just as we are right now

About Lori:
As a Holistic Health Coach & Registered Nurse, Lori has made it her life's work helping other women struggling with weight loss problems. She is focused upon showing that there are more sustainable options that are pain-free and work with you, rather than making the journey feel like a constant uphill battle.

Lori's passion for helping and healing led her to become a Registered Nurse, but she always viewed health and well-being from a holistic perspective, understanding that we must take a greater look at a broader picture to understand all the factors that contribute to illness and disease. Therefore, Lori also studied alternative medicinal practices including ancient Chinese medicine, therapy and nutrition techniques.

#24. Express Yourself with Charlotte Fox AKA The Psychedelic Fox22 Nov 202200:55:40

How can we align to our most authentic selves? Embrace our uniqueness and gifts and share them loudly and unapologetically with the world? Who better to ask than Charlotte Fox AKA @thepyschedelicfox - actor, comedian, yoga teacher and HIGH VIBES extraordinaire.

I attended one of Charlotte’s stand-up comedy gigs in Brighton last summer and then met her again by chance at a day-retreat. I was drawn to her magnetic energy, radiance and reflections on creativity and inspiration and knew I had to co-create an episode with her to put out into the universe. For me, Charlotte embodies so much of that va-va-voom we all aspire to have in our lives. Sometimes we can be so afraid - consciously or subconsciously - of truly being ourselves, of going against the grain, not following the trodden path, speaking our truth, being perceived as “too much.” Described as “affirming, ludicrous, surreal and raw” by Tung Magazine, Charlotte in her own words kicks us out of our own comfort zones, lovingly and compassionately and gives us permission to BE MORE of ourselves.

About Charlotte:
Charlotte Fox is an alumni of Soho Theatre’s galaxy of rising stars, actor, comedian, writer, yogi. Charlotte studied acting at Jacques Lecoq in Paris and she gigs regularly as a comedian in the UK. She sold out her shows at the Warren at Brighton fringe and played the spiegeltent in 2022. She hosted the atrium stage at Wilderness this year and has worked across UK festivals. She teaches yoga and meditation internationally and hosts successful yoga retreats in Ibiza, Bali and Mexico. She has been described as “affirming, ludicrous, surreal and raw” by Tung Magazine.

In this episode:
- Embracing our individuality even if it means deviating off the trodden path
- Not being afraid to fail and seeing failure as an inevitable part of growth and living courageously and part of the road to success
- Forgiving ourselves for our failings or wrong-doings
- Taking risk and finding the joy in play, being ‘bad’ and rebellious
- Trusting the niggles and getting in tune with our hearts and bodies to receive intuitive guidance, inspiration and creative ideas
- Taking full responsibility and agency within our own lives
- Balancing our ‘doing’ and ‘being’ in the pursuit of our goals and dreams

To stay updated with Charlotte’s upcoming gigs, events and retreats you can find her at @thepsychedelicfox or www.thepsychedelicfox.com

#23. Men’s work: the path to purpose, authenticity and ease with Caspar Chittenden31 Oct 202200:50:31

Up on the podcast this week we have a special guest, my wonderful partner Caspar Chittenden. The world of men’s work is so important and this episode was recorded with the intention to be a call to action for men. It’s an invitation to explore your inner landscape, to ask yourself powerful questions, an invitation for transformation. It’s a call to take an honest look at your current operating system and understand how to go about upgrading your way of being, so that you can live a life of increased ease, connection, fulfilment, love, joy and purpose.

About Caspar:
Caspar is a transformational life coach, supporting courageous men to radically realign their lives and build authentic success, connection and fulfilment. Caspar spent 10 years working as a strength and conditioning coach, co-owning and managing his London-based training centre Three Aces Training. During this time, Caspar noticed a correlation between the results his clients were getting and their lifestyles outside of the gym, identifying the impacts of stress and mental and emotional wellbeing on our health in general. Caspar sold out of the business at the start of 2021 to focus on meeting men on a deeper level and now runs his private life coaching practice from our home together in Brighton.

In this episode:
- making big / radical decisions to shape our lives to make us happy
- common struggles and issues amongst men, including purpose, inner leadership, boundaries, repressed emotions and difficulties around vulnerable communication
- the challenging paradigm of what ‘success’ looks like: living by the values of others or social norms and denying yourself of your own authenticity
- the outdated messaging of ‘boys don’t cry’ leading to communication break-down, challenges in articulating emotions and needing to find coping mechanisms
- understanding your own values and designing your life accordingly
- symptoms of operating in high states of stress
- ways to give yourself more space
- overcoming fears around judgement when you want to change aspects of who you are or what you do
- the taboo around therapy and how it can help to support you, alongside men’s work
- what is on the other side of stress and challenges you might be currently facing

Sophia's signature 90 day group program Perfect Your Period starts next month for those ready to take the next step in their hormone journey: https://www.sotremendous.com/perfect-your-period

- treating the root rather than managing symptoms if we want to see big results

#21. Somatic Therapy: Living, healing & feeling through the body with Emma Cully23 Aug 202201:00:30

Emma Cully is a somatic practitioner, wellness consultant and therapeutic yoga teacher. Having experienced Emma’s work at a day retreat, I wanted to talk more to her about FEELING our way through our experience rather than just THINKING through it, the mind-body connection and utilising somatic work alongside traditional therapies to resolve and heal trauma and psycho-somatic symptoms and states.

Emma’s work helps clients to navigate emotions by working with the felt sense and nervous system. She invites clients to get curious about the qualities of an experience and to discover what the nervous system needs to efficiently regulate, using a variety of tools including breath, movement, touch and sound. She helps her clients ‘map’ the features of nervous system states, revealing patterns of thought and behaviour, working towards elevating those which serve, and getting ‘underneath’ bigger emotional experiences through the felt sense.

We have a tendency to think our way through life but we have an entirely new layer available to us when we can feel our way through as well. On top of which, our stories and our perceptions about what is going on in the moment or in our lives can shift when we listen to the body’s queues and make little steps to bring ourselves back towards equilibrium. Put into a therapeutic context with a specialised practitioner, working with the body alongside the mind can help to resolve trauma and its symptoms, since life doesn’t just happen to the head but to the body.

In this episode:
- What is somatic therapy and the ‘felt’ sense
- Tuning into our body’s signals before we act
- How somatic work can be utilised alongside traditional therapies to expand our awareness, understand ourselves better, take deeper ownership of our experience and help to process and heal trauma
- The functionality of fight / flight and freeze response and what happens in moments of trauma so you can understand trauma as a full bodily experience
- Creating safety through a resource or within the body
- How the mind-body connection is often disrupted by our ‘go-go-go’ lives where we often override the queues our bodies give us about what we need
- How somatic work can support those with anxiety or depression and help us know what is available to us and develop safety, neutrality and preference
- Ideas and tools for getting into our body and our ‘felt’ experience - ones which you can do anywhere anytime - in order to bring around greater connection, collaboration and vitality within our lives

#20. Reframing Collective Mental Health with Kristin Gattens15 Aug 202201:15:57

This episode is recorded with therapist and spiritual life coach Kristin Gattens. Kristin is in fact MY therapist and I wanted to get her on the podcast because of her unique and innovative approach to therapy. Kristin combines her background in clinical psychology and counselling with her further training in life coaching, holistic healing and spiritual psychology. Kristin worked in a clinical setting for 15 years but as you will hear, she became aware of some of the limitations within a conventional approach to therapy for some people and set up her own practice integrating various approaches and modalities, focused on shifting people back into their power and their authentic alignment and looking for solutions within themselves.

In this podcast:
- The limitations Kristin found within a conventional setting and the progressive ways we can begin to view and heal collective mental and emotional wellbeing.
- The general feeling of dis-ease felt by the population at large, including symptoms of generalised anxiety and depression.
- Taking a holistic approach to mental and emotional wellbeing to understand the root cause of individual and collective dis-ease
- Feeling flat when we "have it all" and the place of spiritual psychology within that
- Limiting beliefs and fears standing in the way of what we really want
- Finding true meaning, purpose and fulfilment within our lives through our own authentic alignment: what that feels like, the process of excavating who we truly are and taking action to radically shift our mindset, our energetics and our lives

#19. Life, Breath and Death with Soph Trew11 Jul 202201:02:16

This episode is recorded with the incredible Soph Trew. Soph was diagnosed with blood cancer aged 23. After 6 months of chemo started integrating lots of mind-body tools. What began as her own healing path has expanded over the past 8 years into supporting others to connect to self-healing abilities, to come back into own bodies and to empower themselves in their own health. Soph has trained all over the world in different mind-body-soul modalities. Her primary work is in the power of the BREATH as a transformational breath-work practitioner and more recently she has ventured into end of life care training as a death doula. We live in what Soph describes as a 'grief-illiterate culture' - as a society we are generally quite afraid of speaking about death and endings. We are afraid of letting go and this can lead us to feel isolated when we are at the end. Soph and I open up the conversation around death, encouraging you to reflect upon your own relationship with LIFE and DEATH and how BREATH serves as the ongoing space in between.

In this episode we discuss:

Breathwork:
- discovering the power of our breath, coming into present moment, releasing tension and trauma, feeling more inspired and alive and creative
- breath and anxiety, breath patterns differentiating for each emotion
- inhale and exhale as setting the flow for our life - being and doing
- the mind body connection, trauma release and the regulation of the nervous system

Death:
- What is a death doula
- How our approach to death differs to other cultures
- Rites of passage in life; ritual and ceremony starved
- What supports us to let go
- End of life care, including past and recent exploration of psychedelics

#17. Reversing my PCOS and restoring my cycle: HOLISTICALLY27 Apr 202200:37:50

In this solo episode, I share my story of being diagnosed with PCOS having had no period in 8 months and the healing journey I took myself on to restore my cycle and balance my hormones with incredible success when no other options were presented to me. Five years on and still I have no hormonal issues or symptoms!

PCOS is a hormone condition which affects 1 in 10 (even as many as 1 in 5) women in the UK, a condition which is the biggest cause of infertility and comes with a range of challenging side-effects including irregular or no periods, hair growth or loss, weight gain, acne, energy or libido changes and more. PCOS is often regarded as 'untreatable' or 'incurable' since there is no magic pill to fix it. Since our hormones are a complex eco-system, the process of managing symptoms or restoring balance can be challenging, but it may demand for you to look at your life and your health in a different way. As our education around our bodies and cycles is (in my opinion) fairly lack lustre, many women feel disempowered in the area of their health and in relation to their period. This podcast is here to serve anyone with PCOS or another hormone-related condition, especially those who are feeling at a loss or disheartened. It is also applicable to anyone experiencing other hormonal challenges, since it includes information which is beneficial to our hormones in general. Plus, it acts as a case-study for anyone interested in a holistic approach to health, taking a full snapshot of our lives when enhancing our wellbeing.

In this podcast:
- The story from my diagnosis to getting my period back within 5 months
- The dietary and lifestyle changes I made to get my period back when I had no other options presented to me except going back onto the contraceptive pill
- The steps I took to reduce my stress and improve my self-talk and self-love
- The mindset you need when embarking on a healing regimen and the level of dedication, discipline, commitment, compassion you may need
- A more energetic approach to our hormones and bodies
- The very real struggle when we feel alone in our healing
- An invitation into radical self ownership, responsibility and empowerment in the area of our health, bodies and cycles

#15. From self-harm to self-love: learning to truly love yourself with Hannah Fox21 Mar 202200:40:49

In this episode I am joined by Hannah Fox. Hannah is a yoga teacher and self-love coach, guiding humans on their journey home to themselves. Hannah’s mission is to share the healing magic of self-love with the world, a transformational practice rooted in yoga, grown from her own journey with healing her mental health and her relationship with her body.

I was inspired to speak with Hannah because she so authentically speaks around her experience with mental health. We share similarities in our stories and how we got into this work and she communicates and articulates so much of the human experience in such a beautiful way in her content. This episode reminded me how important it is to talk about the hard things. When we share our shadows, our fears, our insecurities, our struggles and our inner landscape, we remove the separation between us and we create more conscious and authentic relationships and feel more at home within ourselves and within the world. Radical self acceptance and self compassion is at the heart of our healing and growth.

Also in this episode:
- coping mechanisms we all use to numb or find external validation
- releasing fear of our shadows and welcoming all parts of ourselves
- de-conditioning and de-programming the parts of us which say we cannot show up in imperfect ways or be our true selves
- self-love as a practice and tangible action steps to support us on this journey

#14. Loving Kindness Meditation02 Mar 202200:19:04

A devotional practice to cultivate love, presence, kindness, compassion and generosity to raise our own vibration. I was reading the news last night before I went to bed and my heart felt heavy with the suffering of so many on our planet right now 🇺🇦 I wanted to create and share something from my heart to yours, to positively impact the world today and help you do the same. In situations when we are otherwise powerless to help, what we can do is take radical self ownership of how we ourselves show up in the world. Every day we get to make a conscious choice to either add to the carnage or chaos or deliver more light to where it is needed, to fill up our own cup, to connect back to our bodies and our hearts and rise in our own frequency to positively impact the collective and add to the overall sense of love within the world. Even in darkness, there is so much beauty and power and generosity in the human spirit. Every day is made up of small moments and small choices to bring more joy or love to the world, one person, one situation at a time. So let’s take some time to connect back there today.

This Loving Kindness meditation aims to cultivate more conscious awareness and love, acceptance, compassion and ease: all divine qualities we can embody more and more of. It also seeks to remove our blockages to love, residing in ways we create judgement or separation either within ourselves or in regards to others. At our very core, we are love. One of my favourite quotes is by Rumi: “your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.” May this meditation bring you back to love, may it bring you kindness, peace and ease, may you gift that to yourself, embody it as your frequency and share that vibration with all you meet today and every day.

With a Masters in Occupational Therapy and extensive experience working in the field of global mental health, Rhaya combines traditional evidence based therapeutic methods with alternative self development principles and practices for a balanced and expansive transformation.

I wanted to speak to Rhaya about her transition from therapy into the world of coaching - the differences between these two sectors, how to know where to start as well as how to turbo-charge our own growth and self-development. You’ll hear about a few areas - being community, mentorship and embodiment, all areas Rhaya cites as pivotal to her own evolution as well as the growth of her own clients.

In this episode:
- coaching verses therapy: the difference in approaches, how to know what you need

- stepping into authentic leadership and creating intentional spaces around what we want to see in the world
MENTORSHIP

- investment as an energetic experience

#12. Gut Health: Cutting out the crap and healing from the inside out with Sarah Newland21 Feb 202200:39:57

Today I am joined by Sarah Newland, an Australian clinical nutritionist with a holistic approach using ‘food as medicine’. Gut health is at the root of our overall wellbeing and vitality. It affects most things in the body as well as the brain. In our modern world of stress and processed food, maintaining a healthy gut takes effort. So many people aren’t even aware that they are experiencing gut-health related issues nor how good they could really feel! Certainly gut health issues are no fun: bloating, IBS symptoms, anxiety, poor energy, weight issues… the list goes on. In this podcast, Sarah gives us a full gut health 101 but we also try to cut through the noise and complexity to empower you in your understanding, health and healing to take radical self ownership of your lifestyle and wellbeing, all starting in the gut.

In this episode:
- gut health in relation to your immune system, weight and hormones
- gut-brain-axis and relation to mental health, including anxiety and depression and emotional wellbeing
- symptoms of gut disturbances & what we regard as ‘normal’ even though it can indicate poor gut health
- cravings: how our pathogenic gut bacteria omit chemicals to tell our brain to eat sugar which enable them to grow
- how early-life factors such as the birth process and antibiotic use can affect our gut health
- the big DOs and DON’Ts of gut health: healing and sealing our gut and then supporting the proliferation of good gut bacteria and the reduction of pathogenic bacteria
- the importance of managing stress and integrating lifestyle habits to relax our system and tonify the vagus nerve
- tips on how to get started and the mindset required around investing our time, money and energy in our health as far as we can

If you suffer from gut related issues, associate with any of the symptoms touched upon in this podcast or want nutritional support, Sarah’s sessions involve comprehensive investigations into your health presentations and how to achieve your goals. You will gain the knowledge, treatment plan, and resources to navigate your health and vitality to where you want it to be, for the long term. Aside from gut health, gastrointestinal conditions and the gut-brain-connection, Sarah’s expertise include also reproductive nutrition, hormone balancing, liver support, weight management, autoimmunity and sports nutrition, natal and early childhood nutrition.

#11. Living from Soul: Finding your purpose in a noisy world with Sarah-Louise Sutton14 Feb 202201:03:46

I’m joined again by the awesome Sarah-Louise Sutton, one of my soul sisters and dearest friends. Sarah is an intuitive life and business coach and in this episode we talk about “living from soul” - learning how to listen to our intuition and trust our own internal compass in order to align to our genius and purpose and be where we are ‘meant’ to be in life.

What this entails:
- learning to ‘trust the niggle’… those uncomfortable feelings when we are not on track, without making ourselves wrong in the process
- learning to feel good on the journey as well as at the destination
- creating and designing our own purpose as opposed to having to feeling we have to SEEK it
- focusing on who we have to BECOME to get what / where we want; focusing on our ENERGETIC unleveling as well as goals & action steps
- moving beyond the conscious mind in our decision making, as our head has only a limited view of our potential
- following what lights us up to strengthen our intuition
- following when energy flows and things feel effortless as opposed to when you have to force or push
- how we learn to trust ourselves; self-trust being like a muscle
- cultivating discipline through daily & weekly practices
- increasing our vibration and committing to love over fear, knowing it is our true nature

As mentioned, Sarah’s new course “Soul Codes” supports you in this journey of soul-led living.

#10. Awakening with Human Design: Mastering your Unique Blueprint with Emma Barfield09 Feb 202201:11:03

This two-part episode is recorded with the awesome Emma Barfield. Emma is an inner leadership and energetics coach and an embodied human design reader. Emma speaks about the science of Human Design, a self-realisation tool which maps our energetics to reveal more about who we are at our core, helping us to navigate our needs and strengths in the world, to uncover our purpose, maintain alignment and shine bright as unique beings. By understanding the designs of our friends and family too, we can learn how to better see the world through their eyes and how to show up in harmony to create the most fulfilling relationships. Receive permission to step into your own unique blueprint and contribute to this collective awakening of liberated, authentic living!

Provided you are not driving or operating heavy machinery(!) pause this episode here and go to Jovian Archives website - www.jovianarchive.com and click on Get Your Chart to bring up and download your free human design chart.

You’ll need your full name, place and date of birth and time of birth (you might need to call a parent for that one!)

In this conversation Emma will be discussing the different aura types, profiles and channels within Human Design and you may receive even more from the conversation if you’re aware of your chart. Saying that, if you don’t happen to know your time of birth or you are driving at this time, you can still receive goodness from this episode by understanding ourselves and one another as unique beings, giving ourselves permission to step outside of the one-size-fits-all boxes and labels or the expectations or pressure to be a certain way that we often come up against us in life.

I had my chart read by Emma in a 1:1 session at the start of this year and received so much out of the it. I would strongly recommend doing the same if you are interested in understanding your energetics and blueprint more.
You can contact her on IG @Emma.barfield

#9. Awakening in 2022: Leaning in and 'doing the work' Part I with Emma Barfield07 Feb 202200:31:24

This episode is Part I of II with the awesome Emma Barfield, inner leadership and energetics coach and embodied Human Design reader. In Part II Emma deep dives into the science of Human Design and how to use your chart; this episode acts as a prequel to WHY should we lean in and do the work? There is so much division, polarity and noise out there right now but it is also a time of great awakening. What does that actually mean? What is 'awakening'? Awakening to what? What do it look and feel like? What is the other side of 'doing the work' to discover our unique truth and who we are beneath all the condition and labels? There's never been a greater time for self-realisation and self-discovery, for taking radical self ownership to lead towards radical self empowerment. May this be an invitation for you to lean in, do the work, find your tribe and find your authenticity, joy and abundance.

Find more about Emma and her offerings @Emma.barfield
And stay tuned for Part II!

#8. Love and Loss: Reclaiming joy, peace and meaning in times of grief with Betty Lewis-Griffiths31 Jan 202200:54:38

In this episode I am joined by one of my dearest friends Betty Lewis-Griffiths. Betty @mamabetty - who is a breathwork facilitator, women's empowerment coach and space-holder for healing events such as beautiful womens' circles  - lost her mum suddenly last summer. This episode discusses the wild journey of grief: shock, pain, loss and despair as well as the healing power of gratitude, presence, joy, community and magic in the mundane moments. In life, we are constantly experiencing cycles of death and rebirth and the lessons and reflections in this episode are applicable to so many situations, even outside of major loss. Please know that if you're going through something big and your experience is presenting itself differently to Betty, your experience is totally valid; we are not here to instruct or make anything wrong, simply to share experience and also raise the very scary (and socially tabbooed) topic of death and loss. We also talk about death from more "spiritual" perspectives so if that does not resonate: take what feels good / right and leave the rest. As Betty said after we stopped recording: "it's good to talk". We are all in this human experience together; you are never alone.

Also in this episode:
- expansion beyond our pain: creating our dreams NOW
- the healing power of nature, community and connection
- giving ourselves permission just to be and give ourselves what we need
- opening ourselves up to pain, knowing that that too is how we feel joy
- supporting others in times of loss or grief
- connecting in our most authentic mess, allowing ourselves to be fully seen

This podcast is divinely timed in being released 6 months to the day of Betty's Mum passing, so this episode is in full dedication to Betty's mum, Marietta. Big love to all x

#7. Finding our essence: liberating our inner critic through joy, art & hypnotherapy with Tatjana Lucia24 Jan 202201:07:20

In this episode I talk to Tatjana Lucia : a coach, hypnotherapist and dear friend of mine. Tati’s work intertwines tantra, sound healing, hypnotherapy, embodied movement and mindfulness as powerful ways to uncover, explore and meet your most authentic self and radically transform your life. She guides others on a path of uncovering all that you hold within, deep diving into all aspects of the self, understanding and establishing a deeply healing and nourishing relationship with the emotional, mental, spiritual, sexual and physical parts of your being with you as your own inner healer.

In this podcast Tatjana and I discuss meeting yourself exactly as you are, across a range of topics from self-talk, creativity, joy and play and dismantling our subconscious beliefs and programming to open up fresh possibility within our lives and invite in all the love and abundance we truly deserve.

Also in this episode:
- The challenges we face with continual comparison (especially on social media) and using CELEBRATION of others as an antidote
- creating new realities and paradigms for ourselves outside of social expectations and social pressures
- the importance of dance, joy and time for being silly as adults and creating for creating's sake

#6. Astrology: the cosmic science for getting to know yourself with Bex Milford29 Dec 202101:00:33

This episode is recorded with Bex Milford of Cosmic Cures. Bex is an astrologer, cosmic coach, crystal healer + founder of the Moon Child Sorority, her astro-guide subscription community of lunar lovers using cosmic energies to navigate each month and to expand and evolve. Bex has contributed to The Express, the Metro, Glamour and Bustle and has held live events at Latitude, Lost Village and Soul Circus. The essence of her work is to help you align + shine with your own potential by harnessing the power of the planets, stars and lunar flow to tap into your highest vibrations, taking you on a star-studded journey from passenger to driving force!

In this episode Bex and I explore astrology as a tool for self-discovery, self-exploration and self-realization, an opportunity to explore different parts of ourselves each day, week and month. When we work with the wisdom of the skies, we too get to explore ourselves as multi-faceted beings, to own and explore our darkness and our light, our shadows and our shine and learn the cosmic dance of letting go and inviting in, burning and manifesting, death and rebirth.

Also in this episode:
- insight into the historical lineage of astrology
- the richness of ritual: how we’re all consciously or subconsciously craving and creating it in our daily life and how to consciously create more of it through lunar or planetary tracking
- astrology as an invitation for daily, weekly and monthly self-enquiry through reflection, journaling or ceremony
- how to work with all the different phases of the moon
- the significance of your sun, moon and rising sign in your astrology chart
- what’s coming up in the cosmos as we transition into the start of 2022

Follow @cosmic_cures for her regular updates and wisdom, sign up for her ludicrously unsightly and informative newsletter or join Bex’s subscription https://www.cosmiccures.co.uk/cosmic-store/p/astro-guide-subscription
On her website www.cosmiccures.co.uk you’ll also find many more bundles, resources and courses including a crystal healing course for beginners plus tickets for her new moon and full moon ceremonies. If you’re listening to this before the start of 2022, Bex is also hosting a new moon ceremony on January 2nd 2022: tickets are available via her website.

#5. Banking to Breathwork: A path of inner healing and doing the work with Lucy Puttergill20 Dec 202101:04:53

In this episode, I speak with my friend Lucy Puttergill - a transformational coach and breathwork facilitator - about her transition from banking and her journey of inner healing. Lucy spent 9 years working on the trading floor at Citi then J.P. Morgan and now supports overachievers to break free of limiting narratives, do the inner work and create lasting and real change in their lives. We discuss how much focus we put on fixing the external things (ie not enjoying our job, relationships, environment) instead of taking it as a cue to go inwards and assess our belief systems and early traumas that are playing out and which we are being called to heal. This is NOT a podcast telling you to quit your job and your life, buy a van and a surfboard and live on the beach (unless you want to) but instead act as invitation to take ownership of your internal landscape and see yourself as your own best healer so that you can live a fulfilling and joyful life, anytime, anywhere.

Also in this episode:
- The isolating reality of perfectionism and how connecting to our shadows and flaws is a catalyst for deeper acceptance and authentic relationship to self and others
- Looking at how we uniquely define success
- Ways in which we seek external validation
- Reconnecting to creativity as a mechanism for self-exploration
- Generalised anxiety and depression as a clue for collective as well as individual healing
- Dismantling our belief systems and subconscious programs created by childhood experiences and early traumas to liberate us in adulthood
- Being our own best healer and mustering the courage to make big leaps in our life

Books & Podcasts mentioned in this episode:
"Creativity, Chemistry and Claiming your Joy" by Glennon Doyle 'We can do the hard things'
"The Four Agreements" by Don Miguel Ruiz, "The Untethered Soul" by Michael A. Singer and "The Power of Now" by Eckhart Tolle

You can connect with Lucy @Lucy_puttergill for all her daily wisdom and details on working with her.

#3. Break-Ups and Healing Heartache with Catherine Perry01 Dec 202101:12:40

In this episode, Catherine Perry and I take off our coach/therapist hats and just get down to a super down-to-earth chat about break-ups and heart-break. We decided to put all that wisdom into a podcast. This is for anyone who has or is going through a break-up OR for girls just wanting to sit in on epic girl-chats. What you’ll find in here is honest, raw and real. We aren’t here to coach or advise. Instead we’re here to shine light at the end of what can seem like a very long tunnel! If you’re going through something right now and feeling all the feels, we hope this brings you laughter, hope and a soul hug.

Welcome to the first episode of the Higher Love with Megan Podcast, a solo episode where I outline the journey to where I am today. You'll hear some of the key moments, epiphanies and transformations that occurred to take me from a corporate City girl who thought yoga was for weirdos to a holistic health coach who lives and breathes a mind-body-soul approach to wellbeing. In this episode I'm getting edgy and vulnerable, illuminating how arriving at a place of wholeness and fulfillment is never linear but creating a life true and aligned for us is accessible to us all. I share with you how yoga healed my body, how meditation healed my mind and soul, how I balanced my hormones and transformed my health through diet and lifestyle, how I discovered the power of the subconscious and pyscho-somatic healing, how Higher Love formed the foundation and ethos of my work and much more.

Disrupting the Wellness Industry with Keri Jarvis22 Jul 202400:57:32

This week, we have Keri Jarvis on the podcast and I'm thrilled to chat to her. Keri is an intersectional feminist developmental coach, a community activist, and a charity co founder. Keri was exceptionally honest, sharing her messy journey from questioning the need for feminism to deeply examining systemic injustices such as white supremacy and capitalism.

The conversation delves into the significance of relational dynamics, systemic factors affecting mental health, and rethinking the notion of individual legacy and purpose.
