The NFL Salute To Service game for the Niners is this weekend vs the Seattle Seahawks. This is a very special game for us and everyone involved as we honor those who have served our country. We have special military / veteran guests attending the game this week and one of them is joining us on the podcast.
In this episode Bruce sits down with Lieutenant Colonel John Park, who is in year 23 of a distinguished career with the United States Marine Corps, and is planning to retire in June of 2025.
Joined by his wife Megan, they tell the story of him maneuvering, surviving and thriving through the Marine Corps over all these years. John enlisted in the Marine Corps following high school after a great experience in football because he loved the teamwork and camaraderie. John also wanted to serve his country and chose the Marine Corps. Before he had finished Boot Camp, 911 struck and within a month he was deployed. Working his way up through the non-commission ranks, he eventually finished his college degree and was accepted as a commissioned officer. John now serves as Commanding Officer of the Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 11, at Miramar Air base in San Diego.
We are proud to have John and his family joining us this weekend at Levi's Stadium, along with 4 of his closest friends, also long-time Marine Corps members. Tune in for more about John's career, his mindset, lessons learned, and his vision for the future (as he looks to join the space program!). This is an entertaining and enlightening discussion and we know you’ll enjoy it.

We get into a little bit of his core surgery and the recovery he has gone through that is attached to that surgery and some of the difficulties presented with it. We review some of the position groups with the Niners as well as how competition is going and look briefly (I mean very briefly) toward the season ahead.

This week Bruce continues his Mindful Parenting series with one of our favorite 49ers fathers, John Bosa.
As a former first round draft pick for the Miami Dolphins, John shares the highs and lows of his own career and the many lessons he has learned in raising Nick and Joey Bosa. Both of his boys were also first round draft picks and have been two of the best defensive ends in the league since they were drafted.
John is a passionate and caring father who made a lot of intentional choices about the way in which the boys were raised.
He shares his heartfelt and entertaining insights into the sibling rivalry between Nick and Joey, how they found their way into football as their primary sport, all that comes with being first round draft pick, and how they as a family navigated the issues they faced in big time football.

In June we celebrated Pride Month. To keep the party going, we touched base with a group we are so proud and appreciative of, 49ers Pride.
Pride is celebrated in June for a number of reasons. (1) to commemorate the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan, (2) to honor those members of the LGBTQ community who have been lost to hate crimes or HIV/ AIDS, and (3) to recognize all the ways that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals have historically impacted the world.
In this episode we are joined by Christina Jefferson, Senior Director of Inclusion and Culture with the 49ers, and Nick Clarke, who manages Fan Engagement for the 49ers. Nick's role includes overseeing the direction and execution of promoting for 49ers Pride. He is also responsible for Emma's Women of the Niner's events, and can be blamed for giving Bruce the microphone at the 49ers rally in Mexico City before we cooked up some Arizona Cardinals!!!

This week we bring you another podcast in our series on the women of yoga. This time it is Denise Gonzales, longtime teacher and instructor with Blissful Spirits Hot Yoga. She is the right hand woman to Melanie St. George’s who we had on the podcast just recently in episode 220.
This is a story which tells of Denise's own personal progression through the birth of 3 children, surviving COVID, getting a new degree, as well as her role in the growth and overcoming various obstacles for the studio.
Denise‘s story is one of hard work, grit, and determination grounded in her Hispanic upbringing and the power and strength of her own mother.
All listeners will really enjoy the story as she tells the things she’s overcome and her absolute determination to focus on yoga and make it the heartbeat of not only her life, but also to bring it to others.

We're kicking off Bruce's Mindful Parenting series with Adam Skolnick. Adam was on the podcast last year in episode 126 and is a Lonely Planet and New York Times author, co-author of two books with David Goggins, and co-host with Rich Roll in their “Roll On” podcast series. He is also a free diver and open water swimmer who loves the oceans as well as butterflies.
In this series of Mindful Parenting shows, Bruce will be expanding on the concepts of his monthly series on the Hidden Pearls Studio app, where he looks at different aspects of parenting, with tips and pointers on how to incorporate mindful parenting into daily life with kids and family. In these podcasts, he will be looking at the lessons different celebrity fathers have learned while parenting, looking at the obstacles and ways to overcome the challenges we all face in parenting.
In this episode Adam shares some of the strategies and ways in which their family has divided roles and responsibilities, how in facing some of these challenges they have addressed and overcome, and the ways in which he has worked to incorporate mindfulness into their daily lives. In 2019, the year before we started Hidden Pearls Podcast, I (Emma) was living in Albuquerque, NM. Being so far away from home, I started looking for connections in yoga studios. After my first class at Blissful Spirits, I was hooked and knew I wanted to be part of it. I was only in ABQ a few months after I started teaching but enjoyed every opportunity to teach at practice at their beautiful studios.
A huge reason for my appreciation and draw to the studio was connecting with the owner and founder, Melanie St. Georges. Her authenticity and ability to meet anyone exactly where they are still sticks with me. And her magical Yin Yoga classes!
Fast forward to spring 2024, our very own BRUCE KITTLE, started his Yoga Teacher Training journey with Blissful Spirits!!! The full circle energy of these connections is still magically unfolding for all of us, but needless to say BK is loving every moment of his blissful journey.
Melanie began her Yoga practice in her mid-forties while she owned a bar in ABQ and became a Yoga teacher 13 years ago. She received her 500-Hour ERYT in Barkan method of Hot Yoga with Jimmy Barkan, she has taken 4 trainings and many workshops with Kelly Green and the Empower Movement Shift Series, and she has two additional Yin Yoga trainings that have greatly influenced her own practice and how she teaches. Blissful Spirits now has 3 locations and has been offering Yoga Teacher Trainings since 2017 with Melanie's partner Denise Gonzales (who will be on HP episode 222!). As she enters into her sixties Melanie has slowed down her teaching style and tries to make classes that work for everyBODY and every age.
Melanie does so much to support the ABQ community and is especially connected to the nonprofit organization A Light in the Night Community Outreach. They are seeking to improve the health, safety, and well-being of the men, women, and children of Albuquerque's homeless community. Hello Hidden Pearls Fam!
What a year it has been so far. We hope you all are well and staying present for all of the magic that is moving around us. This year has already brought some of our highest highs and our hardest lessons. It has asked us to spend a lot of time looking inward and has offered opportunities for us to shift our perspective and priorities.
All in all, it has left us feeling so grateful for our community and so aligned with the work we are creating in Hidden Pearls Studio.

GK HPP WK 20 POST-WILDCARD WEEKEND & NINER BYE WEEK / 2023 – We enter week 20 following an exciting lineup of games over the “Wildcard Weekend”. The playoff bracket is filled out for the Divisional Round this weekend, and after resting for a week the Niners spent this week preparing to host the 7th Seed Packers after they demolished the Cowboys on the road (48-32 - and it was not even that close!). Packers looked good and owned the game from start to finish. Another disappointing end of season for the Cowboys (sorry Micha, laugh now - cry later I guess?), but we shall not feel a twinge of pain for them as we look to this most important game as playoff football comes back to Levi’s on Saturday!! It is now win or go home and Niners are right where they want to be. !2 Seed, homefield through playoffs, and a healthy and loaded roster. Pull up a chair and a favorite beverage as we review the playoff bracket, the road to the Superbowl, and the Niners game against the Packers!!

GK HPP WK 18 / GAME 17 2023 (vs RAMS in Levi’s) – HAPPY NEW YEAR again and what a happy new year it has been!! We now enter week 18, the last week of the regular season in the NFL, and while a lot of teams are still battling it out to secure their spot in the playoffs, the #1 seeds in both the NFC and AFC have been decided. The 13-3 Ravens locked up the AFC with a dominant win over the Dolphins (56-19). But more importantly for us, with the Eagles loss at home to the Cards (31-35) (thank you Kyler Murry and crew!!), along with the Niners’ road win at Washington (27-10), the Niners have locked up the NFC #1 seed and a first week bye when playoffs begin!! Congrats to all the coaches and players for fighting and scratching their way through another grueling season to put themselves in the driver’s seat in the NFC, with the road to the Super Bowl in the NFC now going through Levi’s!! Pull up a seat as we review the amazing exploits of the Niners and look at the overall playoff picture and this week’s final regular season game against the Rams, where we started Division play oh so many weeks ago!! - STAT DAD

GK HPP WK 17 / GAME 16 2023 (vs RAVENS-MNF) – Week 17 with 2 games left in the regular season and everything is still up for play. Niners dropped tough one to the Ravens on Christmas Day but still control their own destiny. With wins in the last two games they will secure the #1 seed in the NFC and be guaranteed home field throughout the playoffs along with a bye week before their first playoff game. But as is the norm in the NFL, LOT OF BALL YET TO PLAY!! One game at a time and now complete focus is on the travel to DC for game against the 4-11 Commanders. As we know, you gotta show up each week and ball out in order to get a win, which is exactly what the Niners will be doing this week with a long flight on a short week after playing on Monday night. But this is what Championship runs are all about, if it was easy anybody could do it. But it isn’t and each year only 1 team holds the trophy. So buckle up and join us as we preview the trip to DC and this game against the Commanders.

GK HPP WK 16 / GAME 15 2023 (vs RAVENS-MNF) – Races in the AFC and NFC are tightening up and with 3 games left EVERY GAME MATTERS to see who’s in-who’s out and who will get the #1 seed and the coveted bye week going into the playoffs. Two weeks ago Cowboys looked unbeatable as they whipped the Eagles but then this week stumbled hard in Buffalo losing 31-10. With the Eagles losing to Seattle on MNF and with Niners win in the desert over the Cards 45-29, Niners now have a solid 1 game lead over Detroit, Dallas, and Eagles, along with tiebreakers over Eagles and Dallas. GK HPP WK 15 / GAME 14 2023 (at CARDS-2) – The plot now thickens as it always does in December-January of the NFL season. Cowboys soundly defeated the Eagles to knock them out of #1 seed, and with the Niners WK 14 28-16 victory over the Seahawks, they now move into the #1 seed. But it is week 15 and LOT OF BALL YET TO PLAY and it ain’t over til its over!! It’s “every game matters” and still one week at a time so GET YOUR MIND RIGHT! This week Niners travel to the desert to take on the always scrapy Arizona Cardinals. Happy Holidays Hidden Pearls Fam!
Niners are back at home this weekend after traveling out east to Philly to take on the then 10-1 Eagles. After a slow start they went on 6 straight possessions for 6 straight TDs. Deebo had a huge day with 138 total yards on 4 receptions for 116 yards and 3 TDs. While he was talking some smack he was walking some jack and backed it all up! Shout out to Randy Moss who before the game called Deebo out for talking and not producing in last year’s NFC Championship game. What you say now Randy?? Brock was excellent again with no INTs and 4 TDs on 314 yards. Defense was great holding Eagles to just 46 yards rushing and limited Hurts to just 20 yards rushing on his scrambles, while adding 3 sacks. Coverage was amazing and repeatedly shut down the throwing game. Next up is NFC West rival Seahawks who are now 6-6 and have lost 4 of their last 5 games, including just 2 games ago to the Niners 31-13 in Seattle. With the Cowboys hosting the Eagles this weekend, the NFC #1 seed is up for grabs and every game counts.

GK HPP WK 13 / GAME 12 2023 (at EAGLES) – Niners are on the road again this week after traveling north to play the Seattle seahawks. While they made it look close in the 3rd quarter, Niners flexed and took care of business, earning the 31-13 win. Brock rose to the challenge again as did CMA and the entire offense. Defense rose up as well with 6 sacks and 2 turnovers. But all that is in the rearview mirror and old news as the eyes of the Niners have turned toward the east for their re-match with the NFC leading and #1 seed 10-1 Eagles. While their stats do not overwhelm you, they are simple a team with a lot of mojo and who keep finding ways to win. The last 2 weeks include wins over the Chiefs on the road and an OT win over the Bills. Niners will need to be at their best to take a “W” out of Philly and give them a chance to still earn the #1 seed in the NFC. Games in December determine Championship runs and HERE WE ARE!

Hello Hidden Pearls Podcast Fam! This week the team is a little scattered so it's a sibling party with Emma & George.
Niners come out of their bye week rested, excited and ready to go. They also sport a new player in DE Chase Young, which is super fun. Now sitting at 5-3 in a tie with Seattle, the West is up for grabs and will be settled as it always is, on the field in the coming weeks. First up though is a cross country trip to the surging Jaguars, who are now 6-2 and riding a 5 game win streak after defeating the Steelers 20-10. They also are coming off of their bye week so we should have 2 exciting, motivated, and rested teams ready to go.

We got the fam together! Happy times when we can film the show in person :)
Niners return home to the friendly confines of Levi’s Stadium, after a tough couple weeks on the road leave them at 5-2. Sunday they host the 3-3 Bengals, who are riding a 2 game win streak and are 3-0 vs the Western Division NFC teams, having defeated the Rams, Cards, and Seattle already this season. Niners will try to get healthy, regroup after a tough loss against the Vikings last week 22-17, and get back into the win column before heading into their bye week. Great time to get back on track.
Emma is leading another Women of the Niners event on November 16 from 6-9pm at Levi’s stadium. WON is an amazing organization and if you come to the event you’ll get to practice yoga on Levi’s field, do a Q&A with Emma and Bruce, be entered to win different prizes (such as a signed GK jersey!), and get a special discount code for our new app launching on November 11!!
