日蓮宗の多くのお寺で勧請（かんじょう：祀ること）されている、鬼子母神さんの由来についてお話ししました。

元々は夜叉鬼神だった鬼子母神は、その悪行を仏様に戒められて改心して、仏教を守護する善神（子宝・安産・子育てのご利益）になりました。それが、日本にも伝わり当初は穏やか天女の姿の像が主流でしたが、日蓮宗では法華経信仰と合わさって、降魔調伏の鬼形（きぎょう）の鬼子母神像が作られ信仰されるようになり、厄除けはじめ様々なご利益のある祈祷本尊として定着していきました。

お彼岸は「彼岸＝悟りの世界」に近づくための仏教行事であり、その実践として「六波羅蜜」が説かれています。六波羅蜜とは、①見返りを求めず施す「布施」、②道徳的に生きる「持戒」、③怒りや苦しみにとらわれない「忍辱」、④日々努力を重ねる「精進」、⑤心を静める「禅定」、⑥物事の本質を見極める「智慧」の六つ。これらは単なる理論でなく、日常で実践することで心の安らぎや成長につながります。お彼岸の期間は、ご先祖への感謝と共に、自分自身の生き方を見つめ直し、仏の教えを日常に生かすよい機会です。

いずれ自分の手から失われてしまうものを、あたかも永遠にあるかのように願い、永遠にあるかのように思い込んでしまうのが人間の悲しい性です。

しかし、全ての物事は生々流転し一瞬たりとも同じ状態であることはありません。いくら永遠を願っても、それは叶わないので、ずっと続くと思い込んで執着すると、それが無くなった時に大きな苦しみに会うことになります。

諸行無常の教えを知ることは、苦しみの少ない人生を歩むヒントになるのだと思います。

十善（十の善い行い）1. 不殺生（ふせっしょう）

無闇に生き物を殺さず、生命を尊重する

2. 不偸盗（ふちゅうとう）

他人のものを盗み・うばわない

3. 不邪淫（ふじゃいん）

不貞をしない。邪な関係を持たない

4. 不妄語（ふもうご）

嘘をつかず、正直に話す。

5. 不綺語（ふきご）

無駄なことを言わず、飾り立てない言葉を話す

6. 不悪口（ふあっく）

悪口を言わない。乱暴な言葉を使わない。

7. 不両舌（ふりょうぜつ）

二枚舌を使わない。他人を仲違いさせるようなことは言わない。

8. 不慳貪（ふけんどん）

貪るような欲を持たない

9. 不瞋恚（ふしんに）

激しい怒りを抱かない

10. 不邪見（ふじゃけん）

偏った見方をせず、正しく考え判断する。
