I talk with Sean Cribbin, survivor of serial killer Bruce McArthur, and Sean’s partner Steve Sauder, who also provided the music score for the documentary. Was I Next? The Sean Cribbin Story, a multiple-award winning documentary from iCogitate Productions, tells the story of Sean Cribbin, a man who lived through a shocking brush with death at the hands of Canada’s most brutal serial killer, Bruce McArthur. After years of communicating via online dating apps, in July of 2017 Sean agreed to meet McArthur, but once they were at his apartment, McArthur gave Sean a larger than normal dose of GHB, a known date-rape drug, which made him black out.McArthur photographed Sean’s unconscious body in a number of ritualized poses, as he had done before with his 8 other victims before killing them, dismembering them, and hiding the remains in large planters. This time, however, McArthur’s roommate unexpectedly returned home, having taken the afternoon off work, unknowingly saving Sean’s life. After regaining consciousness, confused and entirely unaware of how closely he had come to dying, Sean returned home and chalked the encounter up to a bad date.Seven months later, in January of 2018, in the days after McArthur was arrested for 2 of the 8 murders he would eventually be charged with, the Toronto Police contacted Sean. They had found the photographs of his unconscious form on McArthur's computer, and asked him to come in for an interview. Jesse Kove is an established and successful American actor who has a myriad of credits to his name. Having got interest in the entertainment industry at an early age, performing skits for his family and visiting film sets with his father (Martin Kove aka Karate Kid/Cobra Kai bad guy John Kreese). He has racked up some very good roles, one of his most memorable starring alongside Joseph Fiennes (Shakespeare in Love, Enemy at the Gates, The Handmaid’s Tale) in Wings of Eagles, an unofficial sequel to Chariots of Fire. Filmed in China and follows the incredible story of Eric Liddell. Jesse has recently been seen on Netflix which brought him to the attention of a whole new fan base. Julio Martino is no stranger to film. Brought up in the environment of a film rental shop owned by his father, he always had an interest in the genre. I chat with filmmaker Pier-Philippe Chevigny about his latest film short, which is currently under consideration for an Oscar 2021 nomination. The film is very poignant and without spoiling it, focusses on the refugees who fled to Canada after the Trump Administration cancelled the Temp Protected Status (TPS) for immigrants. Those affected were so fearful of the reprisals and issues that would face, they fled to Canada. This film shows the right wing surge of those groups in Canada which formed to stop refugees from entering. It is shown through the eyes of an innocent six year old. In a world where we have progressed so far, 'A White Horse' is a strong reminder that it is easy to slip back into a world of fear and misunderstanding. When Molly Manning Walker was 16 she was sexually assaulted and this awful experience prompted her to create GOOD THANKS, YOU?. This live action short film was created to encourage people to talk openly about the subject and is her directorial debut. The film stars two of the UK’s prominent new actors Jasmine Jobson who has starred in two seasons of the Netflix favourite TOP BOY and Michael Ward who recently won the 2020 BAFTA EE Rising Star Award. In the aftermath of an attack, Amy is left voiceless, trapped in a whirlwind of incompetence. She must find a way to confront what has happened, in order to save what matters to her most. Molly Manning Walker is a cinematographer and director based in London and a graduate of the NFTS. As a cinematographer, her graduation film November 1st took Bronze at the Student Academy Awards, and Molly was nominated twice at Camerimage in 2019. Molly’s directorial debut feature is in development with Film4. Molly is represented for Directing by Independent Talent. I sit and talk to filmmaker Abraham Adeyemi and Abiola Rufai-Awojide about their new upcoming short film, No More Wings. No More Wings shares the story of two childhood friends who up and grow apart. "No More Wings" is Abe's directorial debut and has been selected for the upcoming Aesthetica Film Festival, Raindance Film Festival and the London Short Film Festival. The film is about Isaac and Jude, two boys from the same area in south London. They hang out at the same chicken shop everyday and fancy the same girls. But in adulthood their lives take different directions. Adeyemi’s live action short film won at Tribeca in the Best Narrative category, which makes it eligible for the Academy Awards (Oscars) in 2021. The film has also won The Wrap’s Shortlist Film Festival Audience Award and the Encounters Film Festival Audience Award. No More Wings is a love letter to Adeyemi’s adolescent years growing up in Woolwich, south London. It examines the effects of gentrification on local communities in inner cities and reflects on the consequences of the choices we make.Abraham Adeyemi is an award-winning writer and director from south London. He graduated with a BA in Creative Writing from Birkbeck University of London in 2015. After graduation Adeyemi accepted a place on the Royal Court Theatre’s writing group, kick-starting his playwriting career. His works for the stage have played at a number of British theatres including the Hammersmith Lyric, Theatre Royal Stratford East and Birmingham Rep. Most recently his debut full-length play semi-autobiographical one-man show ALL THEI CAN’T SAY TO MY DAD played a sold-out run at the Bunker Theatre in London. Adeyemi also runs a production company, Creative Blue Balls, which platforms the work of up and coming writers in a regular showcase for stage and screen.No More Wings Abiola Rufai-Awojide joined the BFI Network as a Coordinator, where she currently works to find and nurture emerging filmmaking talent. Prior to this, she worked in commissioning as Off-Screen Talent Coordinator for Channel 4 UK. Abiola and Abraham have a long-standing relationship, having produced his play ALL THEI CAN’T SAY TO MY DAD and all Creative Blue Balls productions and showcases. She also produced short film Closure, written by Abraham directed by Koby Adom. Which screened at Carmarthen Bay Film Festival (a BAFTA Cymru-qualifying festival).In 2019 Adeyemi won Script House, a global screenwriting competition from Soho House. Jimmy Olsson is a award winning director writer who began working with film professionally in 2005 after attending a two-year training course at Kulturama in Stockholm. After several years in the advertising industry as an assistant director, production manager and director, he chose to concentrate on directing in 2011 and released his first professional short film that year after finishing film school. It was called "Repressed" and it toured many festivals. It was also then when Jimmy understood what kind of stories he wanted to tell. He likes to go right into the depths of people, and, with the help of symbolism, he strengthens what the characters feels inside. Jimmy is very inspired by the films of the Dardenne Brothers, Michael Hanekes and Andrei Tarkovsky. Jimmy tends to take events and experiences from his own life and put them in another context and into different characters who in turn can understand them better. His latest movie "2nd Class" has garnered great success at various film festivals around the world. The film was an example of a new way for Jimmy to make movies. It is a film where he was inspired by the Dardenne Brothers but also a film that is clearly original and shows Jimmy's own style. In the future, Jimmy wants to tell stories that you feel in your stomach. He likes it is when it is low-key and when one gets the characters to work with their facial expressions. Jimmy's goal is to continue making art house movies for broader audiences.2nd class has been on tour for two years and have claimed 52 international awards. His other short films have also claimed several awards over the years. Ron Thomas is one of the original cast from The Karate Kid where he played Bobby, the member of Cobra Kai who had a conscience and tried to steer his friend Johnny in the right direction as well as stood up against Kreese. Ron reprised his role as Bobby in the worldwide #1 hit show Cobra Kai where he has gained an entire new fanbase as well as rekindled the nostalgia of those original KK fans. Since Karate Kid, Ron has led a life helping others. Through being a real life world martial arts champion and sensei to his students, through to being a motivational speaker and life coach (voted best in America by Good Morning America), he has reached and helped many people with his words and excellent philosophy he holds about life, synchronicity and more. I have to say this was one my favourite interviews as I am fascinated by this philosophy and look forward to welcoming Ron back to discuss the book he is currently writing.

Clive Mantle is a British actor with over 40 years in the industry. He has worked extensively in theatre, tv and film, having appeared in some instant classics such as Robin of Sherwood, Game of Thrones, Alien 3, Casualty and Holby to name but a few. He has worked alongside some of the best comedians the UK has had to offer, such as Rik Mayall and Ade Edmondson as well as Dawn French in the Vicar of Dibley. Clive is an extremely eloquent and knowledgable person, who has, in the last couple of years, also started to author his own series of books based on the character Freddie Malone, who finds himself going through time on adventures. His first book "The Treasure at the Top of the World" became an award winner in 2019. His latest, the third in the series, "In the City of Fortune and Flames" is released on October 10th and takes Freddie to the Great Fire of London and the plague etc, which is actually very relevant to the situation today. Breakout musician, Aneesa Sheikh just released her latest new "New Normal" on September 18th. The song reflects on Aneesa's very close relationship with her father who suddenly suffered from two strokes in her early teens. The dynamics after the experience changed her life and she found herself adapting to a "new normal" way of living. Being a teen became more of a struggle for Aneesa as the roles shifted and she became the adult and caretaker. The experience brought on an emotional weight as she saw her father in a vulnerable state daily. She reflects on this universal message through her lyrics which empathizes with everyone who is experiencing a "new normal" due to the pandemic which has altered daily routines and has impacted relationships with loved ones similar to her relationship to her ailing father. Rick Perez is an American actor who has had a recurring role in The Resident and will soon be seen on Season 3 of the awesome show Cobra Kai, which has just moved to Netflix. Rick grew up in Brooklyn and has worked consistently hard through his life to follow his passion. He landed a recurring role on The Resident, as well as appearances in Ozark, Superfly and more. Rick is an honest guy, full of integrity and motivated, as well as very humble and appreciative of those who support him.
